Daniel Radcliffe Dismisses “Incredibly Flattering” Wolverine Rumor

Following Hugh Jackman’s retirement from the role of Wolverine after the release of 20th Century Fox’s ‘Logan,’ there has been much speculation about how will take over the role following Disney’s acquisition of Fox and their desire to insert them into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
One such person is ‘Harry Potter’ star Daniel Radcliffe with even fan art circulating on the internet and social media portraying the actor in the role.
Radcliffe seemed to put those rumors to rest during an interview with ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ where he called the possibility “incredibly flattering” but denied that he is being considered to wear the adamantium claws or suit up to battle sentinels.
“This is something that has come up every so often for the last few years and every time it comes up I’m like, ‘That’s not true, there’s nothing behind that’ and everyone’s like, ‘Ah he said it might be true,'” he explained according to a Digital Spy report. “No I didn’t! I said the opposite of that. And then every so often I’ll get bored answering the question in a sensible way so I’ll make a joke. Every time I make a joke I’m like, ‘Why did you do that?'”
“So the other day I was like, ‘Prove me wrong Marvel…’ and then that has ignited a whole thing. But yeah, I think it’s because Wolverine in the comics is fairly short – I think it’s people going, ‘Who’s a short actor? Him! He could maybe play him,'” he joked.
The ‘Guns Akimbo’ star is a recurring actor in the comedy anthology series ‘Miracle Workers,’ appearing in all three seasons for a total of twenty-seven episodes. The show has been renewed for a fourth season.
At one point, Daniel Radcliffe was considered for the role of Moon Knight for the Disney Plus series, but that role eventually went to Oscar Isaac.

Netflix Announces New Anime ‘Tekken: Bloodline’ Based On The Video Game

Netflix announced that they are launching a new anime adaptation of the hit fighting video game ‘Tekken’ with the release of the poster and trailer for ‘Tekken: Bloodline.’
“Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for a brand-new anime adaptation of the Bandai Namco 3D fighting game franchise in Tekken: Bloodline. The new anime series will be released later in 2022 and the first key art has also been released,” Crunchyroll reported.
The series is set between ‘Tekken 2’ and ‘Tekken 3’ although Leroy Smith from ‘Tekken 7’ appears in the trailer. Other characters include Jin Kazama, Jun Kazama, Ancient Ogre, Heihachi Mishima, Ganryu, King II, Paul Phoenix, True Ogre, Kazuya Mishima, and Devil Jin.
The trailer also shows Jin training with his mother Jin ahead of a tournament. Also, we see Jun and Ancient Ogre standing in their default stance from ‘Tekken Tag Tournament 2.’
You can watch the trailer below:

The Tekken Fandom Wiki describes the synopsis as follows,
“‘Power is everything.’ Jin Kazama learned the family self-defense arts, Kazama Style Traditional Martial Arts, from his mother at an early age. Even so, he was powerless when a monstrous evil suddenly appeared, destroying everything dear to him, changing his life forever. Angry at himself for being unable to stop it, Jin vowed revenge and sought absolute power to exact it. His quest will lead to the ultimate battle on a global stage — The King of Iron Fist Tournament.”
The animation is done in a 3D style which is featured in other Netflix anime.
The first Tekken game was released in 1994 by Namco and made available for the Playstation. There have been ten games released in the main franchise. The series also had two animated films adaptions that came out in 1998 and 2011 respectively.
In 2010, a live-action film directed by Dwight H. Little was released starring Jon Foo, Ian Anthony Dale and Kelly Overton.

‘The Batman’ Actor Paul Dano To Pen ‘Riddler: Year One’ For DC Comics

‘The Batman’ actor Paul Dano might have played the Arkham Asylum inmate known as the Riddler, but now he is taking a turn at bringing the villain to life in pages of DC Comics in October 2022. Dano is partnering with artist Stevan Subic fox a six-part series detailing the origin of the master criminal in ‘Riddler: Year One.’
“For many film and comic book fans, Paul Dano’s portrayal of The Riddler in Matt Reeves’ The Batman (in theatres now) was arguably one of the most chilling and terrifying incarnations ever seen in a Batman film. This October, fans will have the opportunity to learn more about The Riddler’s origins in Riddler: Year One, a six-issue bimonthly DC Black Label series, written by The Batman actor Paul Dano, with art by acclaimed European illustrator Stevan Subic, making his DC debut,” DC Universe announced.
They continued, “This series explores the background of how accountant Edward Nashton went from a simple Gotham City nobody to becoming Batman’s nemesis, setting them on a collision course in the blockbuster feature film.”
Paul Dano spoke about portraying the Riddler in an interview with the Entertainment Weekly magazine.
“One thing [director Matt Reeves] and I spoke about immediately was the two sides of trauma,” the actor said. “Bruce Wayne, as a child, experiences this trauma and the Batman is born of that. Sometimes we can take our scars or whatever you want to call it, and that can be fuel for a fire that drives one towards greatness at times. There’s another side of that coin, where those traumas, scars, and pains drive you in another direction. And I thought that was really powerful in the script. I thought that the sense of good and evil was not as black and white as it often is in a superhero film. And I thought those gray areas were really exciting.”
The Riddler was created by Batman co-creator Bill Finger and artist Dick Spring. His first appearance was in 1948 on the pages of Detective Comics issue 140.

The Lost Boys’ David Joins The ReAction Figure Line From Super7

Could you be persuaded to give up your mortal form if the handsome David offered you such an opportunity? No? Well, what if he were an affordable action figure? Would you give in then?
David is available in two forms, “human” and vampire mode. Most of the toy is the same, except for a different head sculpt and fiery left hand if you choose the bloodsucker one. “Human” David comes with the infamous Chinese takeout container and bottle of totally not blood.

Sharing takeout and a drink with a friend can be an enjoyable way to kill an evening, unless that friend is actually a vampire like David who’s intent on turning the festivities into an evening of killing! This 3.75” articulated The Lost Boys ReAction figure of David shows him in his human form and comes with a Chinese take-out box and bottle accessory from the scene where he begins trying to convert Michael into a vampire. Don’t wait for him to try to trick you into joining his crew of vampires!

“You’ll never grow old…and you’ll never die, but you must feed!” David knows there’s a lot of upside to being a vampire, but it comes at a terrible cost! Packaged on a special upside-down cardback, this 3.75” articulated The Lost Boys ReAction figure of David shows him in his vampire form, complete with snarling expression, exposed fangs, and red eyes, as well as burning hand detail from when he tried to capture Sam and the Frog brothers leaving his lair.

The vampire version of this ReAction figure looks a lot closer to Kiefer Sutherland than the normal one. David’s “human” form looks more like Dog the Bounty Hunter.
Now, where is the Sax Man?!

Ramen Toys Next SilverHawks Figure Is Mon*Star!

Ramen Toys is adding a new figure to their SilverHawks line, following up QuickSilver with the cartoon’s main baddie, Mon*Star.
Mon*Star was recently listed at the Big Bad Toy Store for pre-order. He’s a pricey fellow. This 9″ tall figure is $119.99. Like the previously announced QuickSilver figure, Mon*Star is not just a recreation of the animation model. He has a bit more detail with some liberties taken with the overall look of the metallic red villain. He’s not quite as top-heavy as the cartoon counterpart, but he looks a bit more demonic here.
Mon*Star will come with the following accessories:

  • 2 Head sculpts
  • 4 Pairs of hands
  • Rifle
  • Elbow thrusters & thrust effects
  • Sky-Shadow figure

From the classic animated series SilverHawks, Mon*Star jumps into action as a 1/12 scale figure! Featuring 26 points of articulation, metallic finish, and interchangeable hand parts. The set comes in collector’s window box packaging for display.

We went to Ramen Toy’s official website, but it has not been updated to include Mon*Star. The QuickSilver figure was, for a time, being offered at nearly 30% off. Hopefully, this new addition to the SilverHawks line will get the same treatment.

Something that the Mon*Star figures have been lacking since the 1980s was a glowing effect. Nearly all of the character’s transformation sequences involve the Moon Star’s red beams, and you’d think a company would use that to add a light-up gimmick.
Only Burger King took advantage of the whole red light thing, but it was in the form of a decoder ring. The transparent red plastic on the ring would let you see hidden messages, like what you’d find on G1 transformer boxes.

Cage Goes Into The Water? NECA’s Hooper Figure Goes Into the Cage?

We’ve got another Hooper on the way! Last year we reported on NECA’s Matt Hooper action figure, fresh off the boat and ready to cast skepticism on the “boating accident.” Today NECA announced that the self-important oceanographer has now suited up and is prepared to go into the water.
Coming this September, Hooper stands 8″ tall and comes with a fabric wetsuit. Unfortunately, the academic does not come with an underwater cage. What he does have to fend off the great white shark is the following:

  • Flippers
  • Wetsuit
  • Spear
  • Water-proof light
  • Knife
  • Oxygen tank
  • Shark dart
  • Wristwatch
  • Alternative head

NECA is excited to announce a new 8″ clothed figure featuring the licensed likeness of Richard Dreyfuss as Matt Hooper from the 1975 classic.
Based on the shark cage scenes, standing at 8″ tall, the young oceanographer is equipped with screen-accurate accessories (flippers, spear, underwater light, knife, and oxygen tank) as well as swappable heads. Window box packaging.

Hooper can be pre-ordered at The Big Bad Toy Store for $39.99, but he’ll probably also show up at Target as Quint did. In addition, NECA sometimes produces accessory packs for some franchises. So, maybe they’ll produce a cage for Hooper, or perhaps a diorama of Ben Gardner’s boat.
I’m hoping Hooper’s alternate head is a little more wide-eyed in the final release to match that close-up view during the cage scene. This really makes me want a to-scale Orca, but I doubt NECA will ever make something that large.

So far, we’ve got one Quint and two Hoopers. Where’s Chief Brody? OK, to be honest, I’d really rather have a figure of Amity Island’s mayor, Larry Vaughn. He has to come with that gray anchor suit, though. No deal otherwise.
What do you think of these NECA figures? Let us know your opinions in the comments section below.

Kevin Feige Dishes On Doctor Strange Sequel

0

With all of the rumors surrounding ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ following the surprising cameos in the film’s teaser trailers, Marvel Studios has been busy trying to build excitement for the sequel which sees the return of Benedict Cumberbatch in the role of Stephen Strange.
Marvel Studios head and architect of the MCU Kevin Feige spoke about the film in an interview with Empire magazine.
“We want it to be a Sam Raimi movie,” he said according to SyFy Wire. “We would give notes like, ‘This action is cool — you’re competing with Avengers and Spider-Man, no problem — but don’t forget the Sam Raimi parts.’ You will see just how Sam Raimi it is, in ways that will make fans of Evil Dead II very happy.”
“[Sam] said, ‘We might need four or five pre-viz and conceptual artists.’ I said, ‘Sam, we’ve got dozens. They’re all yours,'” Feige continued. “It took me back to the days where I was just watching on the Spidey movies, and him having to fight for that, while essentially defining and revolutionizing what that kind of filmmaking was at the time.”
Kevin Feige noted that the MCU is about to get “out of hand” when it comes to the multiverse, which was first teased in ‘Agents of SHIELD’ and expanded upon in ‘Loki.’
The Doctor Strange sequel is set to hit theaters on May 6, 2022, after a delay due to pandemic lockdowns. It will be directed by ‘Evil Dead’s Sam Raimi, who also helmed the Spider-Man trilogy starring Tobey Maguire.
Raimi said on returning to the director’s chair after a hiatus, “I have missed directing.” He added that he felt “honored” to return to the Marvel Universe and has praised ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ which saw Maguire reprise his role as Spidey alongside Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland.
Alongside Cumberbatch, the cast includes Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Rachel McAdams.

The cast includes Ayako Kawasumi, Kenichi Suzumura, Maaya Sakamoto, Nobunaga Shimazaki, Rie Takahashi, Tomokazu Seki, Tomokazu Sugita, Mamoru Miyano, and Miyuki Sawashiro.
You can watch the trailer below:

MyAnimeList explains ‘Fate/Grand Order: Absolute Demonic Front – Babylonia’ takes place in “A.D. 2016, the foundations of humanity have been incinerated by the Mage King Solomon. Thus commenced the operation to repair the Singularities in history caused by Holy Grails dispersed across time and space—Operation Grand Order.”
The series ran for twenty-one episodes.

Spider-Man And Other Marvel Comics Getting Release By Penguin Classics

Retro issues of Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Captain America are getting revamped with Marvel Comics announcing that they are partnering with Penguin Classics to release new versions of some of their titles.
“It’s time to clear some space on your bookshelves — the Penguin Classics Marvel Collection arrives this Summer on June 14,” Marvel said on their website. “For the first time, these classic stories of some of the most iconic Super Heroes in the history of American comics are Penguin Classics, and we’re excited to share a first look at The Amazing Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Captain America.”

Marvel also unveiled the covers for both versions of the books:

The Spider-Man collection includes his first appearance in ‘Amazing Fantasy,’ several issues of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man,’ an annual, and an early appearance in ‘Strange Tales.’

Black Panther’s collection will feature his first appearance in Fantastic Four as well as several issues featuring T’Challa in the hit series ‘Jungle Action.’
When it comes to Captain America, it will feature his first appearance as well as his run as the title character in ‘Tales of Suspense,’ plus the bonus story “Captain America…Commie Smasher.’
