Batman The Animated Series’ Batmobile Gets A $1K Statue

The Dark Knight, who graced our television screens during the mid-1990s, is back! OK, technically, Batman The Animated Series merchandise is still around, but this right here is something premium.
Iron Studios has announced that pre-orders are now open for the company’s upcoming Batman and Batmobile statues. Bats are priced at $139.99, while the car is $999.99. They can also be purchased as a bundle for $1,099.99. The Art Scale statues are pretty large. Batman may only be 9.4″ tall, but the Batmobile measures 6.2″ tall by 24.8″ wide.
Statues of this size and price typically come with a few unique features, as we saw with the BTTF II DeLorean statue. However, we’re still paying over a grand, but there are no lights? Weird. The Bruce Timm version of the batmobile only had a few lights on the exterior, the main one being the turbine’s exhaust. Oh, well. At least the thing looks fantastic.

With his long black cape with blue lining waving in the wind of the gloomy Gotham City, the flash of lightning reveals his image in a shadow silhouette on the top of a skyscraper. Noble and imposing, the hooded crusader with his clenched fists gets ready for action. He is the world’s greatest detective, and despite his tragic past, he overcame every obstacle so that he could dedicate his entire life to eradicating crime in his city, many times crossing the streets in high-speed with his black car, a high-technological super machine with jet exhaust. Inspired by the acclaimed animated series developed by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini.

Batman TAS was one of the last shows that kept me interested in cartoons for a while during my teens. That, Animaniacs, and Freakazoid. It was so refreshing to see a primarily severe take on Batman. In the ’80s, we had reruns of ‘Super Friends’ and the 1960s TV show. We’ve got a lot to thank Tim Burton for. He and Bruce Timm made the Dark Knight great again.

Skeletor’s New Statue Shows Him Contemplating On The Thone

OK, I, too, would have preferred to have a statue of Skeletor pondering an orb on the toilet, but we’ll take what we can get.
Iron Studios is now taking pre-orders for this new Art Scale 1/10″ statue of the ruler of Snake Mountain as he sits atop a boney throne and contemplates what evil deed his minions will mess up next. Maybe we’ll get King Randor on his throne next?
Skeletor’s statue stands at roughly 11.4″ tall and is priced at $299.99. The Art Scale statue will arrive during the 4th quarter of 2022.
It appears that Iron Studios went for the Filmation version of Skeletor rather than the Mattel or 200X look. Then again, he does sort of look like the bone-faced-fiend we saw in Revelations. Ugh.
Regardless, Skeletor will go great next to the Filmation Prince Adam statue that we reported on in February.

Contemplative in his dark throne, the leader of the Evil Warriors of Eternia plans his next conquest schemes to achieve his greatest purpose: to possess the secrets of the ancient Castle Grayskull and become the master of the universe. Firmly holding his Havoc Staff in his right hand, he watches with his empty eyes while his chin stands on his left hand, thinking such malicious thoughts that would cause even his most loyal followers to tremble. Iron Studios proudly present the statue “Skeletor on Throne Deluxe – Masters of the Universe – Art Scale 1/10”, a luxurious edition, full of details based on the original references.

A lot of the other Masters of the Universe characters are being left out of this new wave of statues. Where’s the love for Ram Man or Buzz-Off? I always love seeing new He-Man and Skeletor stuff, but let’s start switching it up a little. At this point, I’d even welcome an Orko statue.

DOOM Eternal’s Cacodemon Statue Is Now Up For Pre-Order

The floating, lightning-belching beast from the depths of Hell is ready to sit atop your shelf or if you’re like me, office desk. Nothing makes people not want to bother you at work, like lining your entire office with statues of satanic beings.
Bethesda Gear has announced that it is currently taking pre-orders for the Cacodemon. This version is the one seen in DOOM Eternal. The creature itself is totally static, with no moving parts. However, it does sit on a clear piece of plastic. So, at least it looks like it’s floating.
The Cacodemon is priced at $135 and will be released in June of this year. This is a limited run, with only 1,200 being made.

The demon’s body features translucent washes, protruding veins, a host of spikes and smatterings of red on the skin. There’s a discernible difference between the rendering of the tough hide and the soft flesh. This lifelike and realistic look is achieved because of the level of detail Polyresin allows and is further enhanced by a semi-gloss finish.
The Cacodemon’s face is also finely-rendered, with highly-detailed features like teeth big and small. The touch of green in the eye and blue inside the mouth offer a contrast to the mostly red color palette and portrays the moment right before the demon launches its signature lightning attack.

Remember when DOOM Eternal caused such a stir because some in-game propaganda tried to humanize the invading armies from Hell? I thought it was a great touch because there’s no doubt that a colossal corporation similar to U.A.C. would try such a stunt to lower our guard. And, like every other “controversy,” it was ignored, and the game went on to be just as badass as we’d all hoped.
Although only 1,200 of these Cacodemon statues are being made, it’s not made apparent how many are left for pre-order. The previously released Archvile statue is still in stock. So, there may be no need to rush out to get this if your wallet’s tight.

Time Travel Anime ‘Iroduku: The World In Colors’ Gets Blu-ray Home Video Release

0

‘Iroduku: The World in Colors’ is a science fiction anime series created by Natsuka Yashio for the Japanese animation studio P.A.Works that explores time travel. It was directed by Toshiya Shinohara and ran for thirteen episodes. Previously, the series was available on Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service before making its way to the HiDive app.
Sentai Filmworks announced on their website that they were giving the series a blu-ray home video release which will feature the original Japanese voice actors but will now include an English dub version. All thirteen episodes will be included in the release and will also have special features including some promos and special versions of the opening and closing songs.
It is set to be released on June 21, 2022, and is available for pre-order. The English cast list has not been released yet.

MyAnimeList describes the synopsis as follows:
“Despite the kaleidoscopic magic ingrained in everyday life, Hitomi Tsukishiro’s monochrome world is deprived of emotion and feeling. On a night as black and white as any other, amidst the fireworks spreading across the sky, Hitomi’s grandmother Kohaku conjures a spell, for which she has been harnessing the moon’s light for 60 years, to send Hitomi back in time to the year 2018 when Kohaku was in high school.
Hitomi’s mission seems unclear, but her grandmother assures her that she will know when she gets there. Following a trip through time aboard a train driven by a strange yellow creature, Hitomi finds herself in stoic artist Yuito Aoi’s room, and his drawings flood her world with color. What is Hitomi’s purpose there, and why do Yuito’s drawings return such breathtaking color to her drab world?”
The anime was written by Yūko Kakihara with music by Yoshiaki Dewa. Chief animation director Yuki Akiyama also designed the characters with art director Kurumi Suzuki and art supervisor Junichi Higashi.

This has not stopped Crunchyroll from adding over two dozen new shows and renewing some fan favorite anime.

New Activision Blizzard Lawsuit: “Alcohol-Soaked Culture Of Sexual Harassment”

Oh, dear. Activision Blizzard, what the hell is wrong with this company? Yet another lawsuit is heading towards the embattled video game publishers/developer. Last time it was a wrongful death lawsuit; now it’s another sexual harassment claim.
Bloomberg Law is reporting that this latest filing in the Los Angeles County Superior Court looks to address what the plaintiff’s attorney, Lisa Bloom, unapologetically Activision’s “alcohol-soaked culture of sexual harassment.”
While a single employee filed this specific lawsuit, this could lead to a dam bursting moment. Allegedly, the claims of discrimination and sexual harassment rounded out at 700. Judging by the information readily available, the bias appears to be mainly surrounding how the female employees have been treated and not a racial issue … yet.
The “cause of action” listed in the lawsuit paints a rather grim picture of life as a female employee of Activision Blizzard, which the plaintiff ‘Jane Doe’ was. She was part of the company’s IT department from 2017:

Hostile work environment; quid pro quo; failure to prevent harassment; sexual favoritism; retaliation; sexual battery; intentional infliction of emotional distress.

According to Doe’s claims, she was pressured into consuming alcohol and being physically assaulted both in and outside of the office by Activision leadership. Her attempts to call out these issues led to retaliation and sabotaged career advancements. Her complaints eventually allowed her to leave the IT department, but that escape was to a position down the ladder in the company both in status and pay.
Jane Doe’s demands include the termination of the current CEO Bobby Kotick and something that may have already been put into action thanks to a previous lawsuit: an investigation into Activision Blizzard by an independent entity.
Activision Blizzard is in for a world of hurt, but will it make a difference now that Microsoft is absorbing the company? Could the software giant retain the programing talent while purging everything else? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Thor, Black Widow, The Thing, and Green Goblin Enter The Retro Collection

The Kenner line of 3.75 Retro Marvel Legends action figures is about to get four more iconic heroes and a villain. Coming later this year, Thor, Black Widow, Thing, and Green Goblin will join the toyline. Each figure has just under ten points of articulation and sometimes an accessory or two.
This latest batch of Marvel Legends Retro figures will arrive via Hasbro Pulse around September 1st of this year. The entire set can be pre-ordered for $87.99. The reason for the increased price is because this assortment includes (2) Thors and (2) Things along with Symbiote Spider-Man and Black Panther.
They’ll probably be around $9.99 to $13.99 when they appear on store shelves.

This line is limited when it comes to accessories. The Silver Surfer’s board and now Black Widow’s crossbow are some of the most significant extras I’ve seen packed in so far. Goblin’s glider is smaller than I expected, but at least he comes with his satchel. Unfortunately, there are no pumpkin bombs.
I will give Hasbro credit for making a more budget-friendly line for those of us who have kids. Unfortunately, the regular Legends line isn’t made for children and all the abuse their toys take. The Retro figures, on the other hand, are very durable. I’m pretty sure my daughter’s Spider-Man figure has been run over by the Batmobile a few hundred times so far, and he has yet to lose or break a limb.
I hope that Hasbro makes a toy line based on the 1960s Spider-Man cartoon one day. The designs, thanks to Ralph Bakshi, were memorable and have since lived on in meme form.

The Powerful Psychic Jean Grey Joins Marvel’s X-MEN VHS Figure Collection

Hasbro Pulse has announced the next character to join the X-MEN Animated Series VHS line. It’s none other than the redheaded hottie Jean Grey. Oh, the tease. Always leading Logan on, only to settle for the boring Scott Summers. Why do you do such things, Jean?
Redheads…
Anyway, Jean is joining Storm, Jubilee, and Wolverine in a series of figures based on the 1990s Fox animated X-MEN series. Each figure comes in a VHS-styled box with artwork specific to the character.
The action figures in this series are priced, so far, at $27.99. Hasbro is really getting up there with NECA when it comes to pillaging our wallets for basic figures. Hopefully, future installments will come with more accessories to make these things a little more attractive financially.
Jean Grey is expected to ship around the 1st of October 2022. Click here to pre-order your coppertop in the skin-tight costume.

Possessing near-limitless psychic potential, Jean Grey is Charles Xavier’s first student, and could someday become the greatest psychic on earth, and beyond.

Jean will come with the following accessories:

  • Head with ponytail
  • Head with luscious flowing red hair
  • Alternate hands
  • Jealous Wolverine is not included.

Honestly, I could have done without the ponytail head. Why not throw in some psychic power effects parts instead? As we mentioned earlier, the price of these things is close to what NECA wants for their figures, and they come with more accessories. The Marvel Legends line is pricing itself out of my interest.
While I’d like to believe this is mainly due to inflation and supply chain issues, I feel this is more about Disney trying to drain every penny out of the collectors’ market.

Gasp! The Crypt-Keeper, The Old Witch, and The Vault-Keeper Bookends!

0

Hello, kiddies! Are you ready for a terrifying tale from the terrible tomes of EC Comics? It’s hard to believe that the government stepped in not too many decades ago because horror comic books were considered a threat to our children. The main culprit? EC’s Tales from the Crypt and The Vault of Horror.
Although considered tame in today’s world, with comics like Faust, The Walking Dead, and Garfield on the market, EC Comics were once considered nearly pornographic. But, of course, that meant they were great! And what better way to celebrate the Crypt-Keeper, the Vault-Keeper, and the Old Witch than with this fantastic set of bookends from Dark Horse Direct.
The bookends measure about 9″ tall by 6″ wide each. They’re made of polyresin and limited to only 500 copies. The expected release date is between November 2022 and January 2023. Click here to pre-order yours for $299.99.

The first of your titular hosts up for viewing is The Crypt-Keeper, garbed in his iconic blue tattered tunic. Poised to recite the tale of his grim origin story Lower Berth, the scene features a sideshow of skeletal ventriloquism sure to terrify and delight you! Total height reaches 81/2-inches tall and 6 ⅜-inches wide with all the gory details.
Next in line for your bookshelf of woe are The Old Witch and The Vault-Keeper, lurking at a total of 9-inches tall and 6 ¼-inches wide. Similarly clothed in their respective robes of primary red and green, with a crude lantern and a shrunken head held in wait, the pair await their turn to usher you into their vault of dread!

Two of the 1970s films based on the comics are available on YouTube right now. Check out Tales From The Crypt and The Vault of Horror below:

Mezco Made A Retro Plush Out Of Creepshow’s Raoul!

The Creep, as he appeared in 1982’s Creepshow, is one of the most iconic characters to grace a VHS box. When you think old-school horror from the days of tapes, Raoul’s one-eyed skeletal visage always comes to mind. And that laugh. My god. That laugh.
Mezco is capturing that frightening and friendly face inspired by EC horror comics with a new retro plush doll. The Creep (Raoul) joins Pennywise in this line of 18″ tall floppy dolls based on horror movie legends.
The Creep is priced at $98 and should be snipping out later this year, possibly in time for Halloween.

Straight from the 1982 horror film, Creepshow, The Creep is here to fright and delight! This floppy Roto Plush is equal parts cuddly and creepy.
At approximately 18 inches tall, the MDS Roto Plush Creep features a menacing one-eyed stare and toothy smile. The decaying skeletal figure is outfitted in his iconic hood and robe and features rooted hair.
The MDS Roto Plush Creepshow (1982): The Creep comes packaged in a collector-friendly window box, perfect for display

The original puppet used for the film had been in terrible shape for years. Eventually, Raoul was rescued by Tom Spina Designs. Special effects master Greg Nicotero had the Creep in his possession and contracted Spina’s business to restore the prop. Click here to check out images of restoration.

Creepshow was an amazing anthology of tales in the spirit of EC’s Tales from the Crypt or Vault of Horror comics. It was a star-studded event written and directed by the team of George Romero and Stephen King.
The Creep shows up during the film’s opening in live-action form before morphing into an animated fiend. I wish we got to see a showdown between the Creep and Tom Atkins.
