Marvel Comics Reveals Cover For New ‘Carnage’ Series

0

Carnage, along with his original host Cletus Kassidy, is about to tear through the Marvel Universe with a new title that will show the terrifying Spider-Man go solo. A spin-off from ‘Death of the Venomverse,’ the series will focus on the red symbiote as he causes chaos within the realm with a cover that showcases the villain.

“Many of Marvel’s hottest issues are shining on comic stands with Foil Variant Covers! This classic and iconic cover treatment is all the rage and this November, CARNAGE #1 will get one of its own by acclaimed artist Gabriele Dell’Otto,” Marvel said on their website.

They continued, “The piece captures the bloody fury the Carnage symbiote will unleash when it reunites with its favorite host—Cletus Kasady! Spinning out the current DEATH OF THE VENOMVERSE limited series, CARNAGE is written by Torunn Grønbekk and drawn by artist Pere Pérez. The series will reveal new levels of depravity and savagery from Marvel’s most terrifying villain as he continues his dark ascent to power!”

You can take a look at Dell’Otto’s cover here:

Carnage first appeared in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man #359’ created by writer  David Michelinie and artist Mark Bagley in 1992.

New series writer Grønbekk expressed his excitement saying, “What are powers without purpose? Having hunted down and triumphed over his greatest weaknesses, Carnage’s powers are unrivaled. However, a piece is still missing—the symbiote needs a host with the ambition to match its own. And for Carnage, there was only ever one. (And you know who!)”

“I knew writing Carnage would be an opportunity to explore some pretty dark themes, but I am surprised and delighted to find that the darkness is coming from some unexpected places,” Grønbekk continued. “It is my kind of horror—overwhelmingly gruesome but still rooted firmly in humanity. Expect big symbiote action, mysteries, myth, and murder. This is gospel, according to Cletus Kasady, and he is the end of the world as we know it.”

The release date for the premier issue is set for November 15, 2023.

Hasbro Announces New Division For Media Entertainment After Selling Off eOne

0

Hasbro has announced the launch of their newest division after recently finalizing the sale of Entertainment One (eOne) to Lionsgate. This new division is called Hasbro Entertainment. The purpose of Hasbro Entertainment is to unify Hasbro’s film, television, animation, and digital media enterprise under one umbrella as part of Hasbro’s Blueprint 2.0 strategy, according to their website.

Olivier Dumont will be the president of Hasbro Entertainment, having previously lead the content creation and distribution of Hasbro family brands at eOne, bringing in over $2 billion of annual retail sales. Zev Foreman will lead film while Gabriel Marano will lead television. Foreman was also previously at eOne where he oversaw production of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, and the latest Blue Beetle. Marano took part in the script development on such projects including Paramount’s latest yet-be-released Dungeons & Dragons series, as well as Netflix’s Power Rangers.

Hasbro Entertainment is currently developing, producing, and financing over 30 projects, focusing on what they would consider top priority brands including Dungeons & Dragons, Transformers, G.I. Joe, NERF, Play-Doh, Magic The Gathering, Peppa Pig, My Little Pony, to name a few. So far, announced upcoming titles include Transformers One, which is directed by Josh Cooley and starring Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, and Jon Hamm. A live action Dungeons & Dragons series is set to go on Paramount+. And a number of animated series will include Peppa Pig, Transformers: EarthSpark, Kiya & the Kimoja Heroes, and My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale.

President of toy licensing and entertainment for Hasbro Tim Kilpin stated, “Entertainment is core to Hasbro’s strategy and its mission to entertain and connect generations of fans through the wonder of storytelling and exhilaration of play. Audiences can count on Hasbro to keep creating compelling and fun entertainment that brings to life our wide array of iconic brands, including Peppa Pig, My Little Pony, and Transformers, reaching audiences through varied platforms in ways that resonate in today’s fast-paced world.”

Dumont added, “We are thrilled to embark on this new chapter, building upon our rich heritage of storytelling to continue delighting audiences across generations. Gabe, Zev, and I look forward to working with the industry’s best creative talent, studios, and distribution platforms to push the envelope with innovative storytelling that will let fans engage with their favorite brands like never before, while also building exciting new worlds and the next wave of Hasbro franchises for a growing audience.”

What do you make of this change within Hasbro? Do you find it kind of confusing of why they would offload one entertainment division for another entertainment division? Are you looking forward to seeing the new movies and series they are planning on releasing? Let us know your thoughts!

Netflix Releases Official Teaser Trailer For ‘Scott Pilgrim Takes Off’

0

Announced last year in January as only being in development, Netflix has just revealed the official teaser trailer for the latest anime series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. The series will be premiering on the streaming platform on November 17th.

See the teaser trailer here:

As shown in the trailer, all the main cast members from the 2010 live action movie have returned to reprise their roles as their animated counterparts. This includes Michael Cera as Pilgrim, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Flowers, Kieran Culkin, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Brandon Routh, Jason Schwartzman and Brie Larson.

Scott Pilgrim centers on the main character as a slacker living in Toronto and in a garage band called Sex Bob-Omb with his friends. His life is turned upside down when he meets Ramona Flowers, an American girl who is recently single. But before their love can blossom, Pilgrim finds himself challenged by his love’s seven previous relationships, and must defeat them in over-the-top fashion.

The anime series is written by the creator of the 6-volume graphic novel series Bryan Lee O’Malley and BenDavid Grabinski. The two are also producers as well as Edgar Wright. IMDB lists 9 total producers. The eight-part series is directed by Abel Góngora, with animation by Science SARU. The music is by Joseph Trapanese and Anamanaguchi. Anamanaguchi also did music for the 2010 movie.

According to Bryan O’Malley, the leaked news of the anime series came out before they had even started working on it. They originally were not planning to make an official announcement until March 30th of that year.

https://twitter.com/bryanleeomalley/status/1641458157707997189?t=TdFDO2zW2LKxj4QAGTCPcA&s=19

When it was officially announced, O’Malley said of working with the 2010 cast members and bringing them back to the anime series, “They’ve all gone on to do incredible things, but to me, they’re family. There — to this day — is still a group email with the entire cast on it, that’s been going since 2010. I was happy to be able to reach out to everyone with the news that we had finally come up with a way to continue the adventure. Seeing (and hearing) everyone come back to their roles has been a true pleasure.”

Wright added, “I knew that a live-action sequel was unlikely, but I would usually defer by suggesting that perhaps an anime adaptation was an interesting way to go. And then, lo and behold, one day Netflix got in touch to ask about this exact idea. But even better, our brilliant creator Bryan Lee O’Malley had an idea that was way more adventurous than just a straight adaptation of the original books.”

What do you think of the trailer? Will you be watching the series on Netflix? Are you excited to see an animated adaption of Scott Pilgrim? Let us know what you think!

The Lenovo Legion Go Handheld Is Real and Pics Were Leaked!

The handheld PC gaming market is getting yet another device! The Steam Deck and ASUS ROG Ally will need to make room for the Lenovo Legion Go.

Leaked images of the upcoming Lenovo handheld were posted exclusively by Windows Report. What was shown off revealed a combination of features found on the Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch.

The controls located on the sides of the Lenovo Legion Go are modular but appear to plug into the screen rather than sliding down into two slots.

While similar to the Joy-Cons, the controllers also sport several upgraded features. The image below shows a scroll wheel on the right controller and finger buttons on the grip, similar to newer programmable gamepads.

The right-hand controller also includes a trackpad, similar to the Steam Deck’s. The thumbpads appear to have LED lighting at the base.

Lenovo Legion Go Gaming Handheld

Photo Credit: Windows ReportWhile reviewing the other images, we saw that the Lenovo Legion Go will have a large kickstand. We were grateful for this upgrade when the Switch OLED was released.

The back of the handheld has a large vent running horizontally above the kickstand. There are also four large vents at the top of the system.

No dimensions are given, but the main system could be close to 3/4″ thick. Thankfully, the controllers are slopped, so your fingers won’t be too close to where all the processor’s heat will pour out.

The outputs are a little challenging to make out. There’s the obvious USB-C port and headphone jack. Next to the volume buttons looks to be a mini-DisplayPort jack.

There are stereo speakers on the top of the unit but not on the front. Two small dimples are under the display, which may be for auto-brightness or microphones.

Be sure to check out Windows Report for even more images of the upcoming Lenovo Legion Go handheld.

Discotek To Release ‘Nagai Go World’ On Blu-Ray

0

The 1991 comedy anime ‘CB Chara Nagai Go World’ is coming to Blu-ray DVD for the first time thanks to a release from Discotek Media. The three-part OVA parodies the works of mangaka Go Nagai including Devilman, Mazinger Z, and Violence Jack in a chibi style. The series was written and directed by Umanosuke Iida (Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team: Miller’s Report) and produced by the Japanese animation studio Triangle Staff Corp. (Legend of Crystania: The Chaos Ring).

Discotek plans on releasing the Blu-ray in its original Japanese with English subtitles on September 26, 2023, though it is currently available for pre-order on the Right Stuf Anime website.

They revealed the DVD box art:

Discotek describes the series as follows,

“In the world of Japanese animation, Go Nagai is a legend. As one of the most prolific creators of anime works of all time, Go Nagai has single-handedly created entire genres, as well as pushed boundaries and set new standards for generations of artists and writers to come.

Whether exploring anti-war sentiments through extreme violence with his most popular work, Devilman, or carving through a culture of shame towards sexuality with Harenchi Gakuen, it’s no exaggeration to say that Go Nagai has changed Japanese culture forever. And now, his creations are super deformed! Akira Fudo wakes up one morning to find his body isn’t quite right.

And he isn’t the only one! Alongside Miki and Ryo, Akira will need to find a way to return his body to normal, and along their three episode OVA journey, they’ll meet strange people from strange lands–yet are all too familiar to fans! Catch all the super deformed fun of Go Nagai World in this Blu-ray!”

Go Nagai released a manga adaption in 1992 titled ‘CB Chara Nagai Go World Gekitotsu! Shin Shun Kakushi Geitai Kai.’

Coooooobraaaa! Threezero is making a 1:6 Cobra Commander Figure!

Cobra Commander is the latest Hasbro character to join Threezero’s line of 1:6 scale detailed action figures. Now you can pit the blundering villain against Threezero’s other 1:6 figures like Berserk’s Guts!

Threezero went with the classic blue suit and mirror-masked version of Cobra Commander. It looks great, but there will be a wait until he terrorizes your collection. The 12″ tall inept leader of COBRA won’t ship out until the first quarter of 2024.

FigZero 1/6 Cobra Commander figure features a highly detailed and meticulously sewn outfit that captures the character’s classic helmeted appearance. From the military jacket and forearm guards to the waist belt with walkie-talkie, tactical belt, military-style pants, boots, and cloak – every piece is meticulously crafted with precision and attention to detail.

Cobra Commander comes with the following:

  • One (1) pc of Military Jacket
  • One (1) pair of Forearm Guards
  • One (1) pc of Waist belt with Walkie-Talkie
  • One (1) pc of Tactical Belt
  • One (1) pc of Military-style Pants
  • One (1) pair of Boots
  • One (1) pc of Cloak
  • One (1) pc of Cobra Scepter
  • One (1) pc of Knife with case
  • One (1) pc of Pistol with holster
  • Four (4) pairs of interchangeable hands: one (1) pair of Gloved relaxed hands, one (1) pair of Gloved fists, one (1) pair of Cobra Scepter holding gloved hands, one (1) pair of Pistol holding gloved hands

Hasbro’s refusal to let toymakers create a hooded version of Cobra Commander is still in effect. This is unfortunate because that version of the terrorist is just as cool looking as the mirror mask helmet. Sigh. At least it is better than the weird getup we saw the character wear in the first G.I. JOE live-action movie.

What do you think of Threezero’s interpretation of the classic Saturday morning cartoon villain? Let us know in the comments section below.

His ultimate desire is to see his classmate Anna Yamada’s beautiful face writhing in pain before he ends her life. But this fantasy may never come to fruition, as Ichikawa starts to see an entirely different side to Yamada.

Often seeking refuge in the library, Ichikawa frequently runs into Yamada. It is during these encounters that Ichikawa realizes his model classmate is actually an airhead who can never read the room. As they spend more time together, the boy cannot help but feel not only a sense of endearment toward the very girl he wishes to murder but also a desire to protect her at all costs. Is it possible that this sudden change in Ichikawa’s perspective could lead to something more?”

Finally! Toy Snobs Is Making ‘Face/Off’ Merchandise!

0

Released in 1997, John Woo’s Face/Off pitted Nic Cage and John Travolta against each other in a high-concept thriller. It saw both actors go balls-to-the-wall with their performances, but there was a severe lack of merchandise released since the film hit theatres.

That all changed thanks to Toy Snobs. The company behind oddities like Freddy Krueger and Michael Myers TMNT figures is taking a stab at bringing Face/Off products to the market. However, they’re going about it in an unusual fashion.

First up is the Face/Off Buddy. This double-sided retro-inspired stuffed toy features Nic Cage’s and John Travolta’s likenesses on both sides.

The Face-Off Buddy is priced at $54.99, and pre-orders end today. Production of the odd collectible will start soon, but it will take between 6-8 weeks for these stuffed Sean Archer and Castor Troy toys to ship.

  • Approx 22″
  • Soft Touch Print
  • Polly Filled
  • Woven Tag
  • Double Sided

The second Face/Off product is shorts. Yes. You can get the faces of Nic Cage and John Travolta right on your crotch. The $39.99 piece of clothing isn’t underwear. They appear to be gym shorts complete with a sport zipper pocket and drawstring.

However, Toy Snobs does not list what material is used. Regardless, you’ll be the envy of all the other gym bros if you show up wearing these bad boys.

FACE OFF (SHORTS)

As with the Buddies, the shorts will take between 6-8 weeks to be produced and shipped. Pre-orders end today!

Face/Off‘s significant selling feature was that the main stars swapped literal faces. Cage got to play Travolta’s character, and Travolta got to play Cage’s character. It is just as weird as it sounds, but holy crap, did it work.

What did you think of Face/Off when it hit theatres in 1997? Let us know in the comments section below.

Squidward Will Fight and Dance in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2

If you’re a big fan of cartoons on Nickelodeon, then you’ve probably heard about Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl and its upcoming sequel. The original game was heavily inspired by Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. series but included many popular and iconic characters from the line-up of cartoons from Nickelodeon. Although no specific release date for the sequel has been set, fans are getting some looks at new characters being added to the roster. One such inclusion is from Spongebob Squarepants who has quite the attitude.

A recent character spotlight video released by the official Twitter page for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 focuses on Squidward, the grumpy friend of Spongebob. Squidward’s move list plays up many of the character’s funny moments from the show, including his love for playing the oboe and art. Luckily for everyone, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 will feature voice acting from the start. This means we’ll get to hear all of the sass and attitude from Squidward as he fights opponents during in-game matches.

One Twitter user noted in response to the character highlight for Squidward how the game pays homage to his dance routine in Spongebob Squarepants. The dance is from an episode of the show titled “Culture Shock” that has Squidward dancing for a crowd in hopes of giving them a sense of art and culture but is received very poorly. The steps of the dance are part of different attacks for Squidward in the game, but it’s a nice touch of fan service that is sure to make hardcore Spongebob fans smile. There’s even a fun nod to a Krusty Krab pizza attack that comes straight from an episode of the show where Squidward hilariously delivers it to the face of a customer.

There’s going to be a lot of fan service littered throughout the game across the entire roster. Any major fan of these shows will have a fun time spotting all of the little details that the developers have placed around. Besides Squidward, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 will be adding more new characters as well, including one Jimmy Neutron, along with the respective voice actors that played them on the original shows. Hopefully, more new announcements and reveals for the game will come out soon. As of now, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 is set to release later in 2023 for multiple platforms.

Are you excited to see more news from Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2? Will you be checking out the game when it finally releases? Let us know your thoughts about it in the comment section down below!
