HasLab Announces Remaining Stretch Goals for Spengler’s Proton Pack

0

Over the past weekend, I reported that HasLab’s Proton Pack crowdfunding campaign had passed its first stretch goal. Class One unlocked the hose that will connect the Spengler neutrona wand to the proton pack. Today Hasbro revealed what awaits us if the remaining three tiers are unlocked.
What’s up first? Mini-Pufts! Yes, these little jerks cause many issues in the movie, and you’ll get a batch of the creatures if Class Two is unlocked. The Minis will act much in the same way the already included slime will. They’ll get draped over the pack.

HasbroThe Mini-Pufts will have interchangeable parts, like the Plasma series figures. This tier will be unlocked after 11k backers chip in. We’re currently sitting at 9,718. These numbers are climbing faster than I thought they would. I’m impressed.
Class Three is the Spengler Special, and it’s the least spectacular unlockable in the bunch. This package includes a 16-page notebook that belonged to Egon, complete with “hand-written” notes. Accompanying this notebook are some stickers themed after the 1984 film and Afterlife.

Hasbro
Now, the final unlockable is what we all want: a stand. Sure, the pack is easy to hang with a couple of hooks, but why not have a Ghostbusters-themed stand to go along with your unlicensed nuclear accelerator?
Hasbro
I have no idea where I’m going to put this thing, but I’ll be grateful if the tier is reached.
If you’re unsure if you want to put down the $399.99 on this replica over the next 20 days, check out all the features the proton pack comes with and compare it to the other replica packs on the market right now:

  • We’re making history with this movie-inspired prop replica, scanned directly from the Ghostbusters: Afterlife Proton Pack hero prop! (Yes, Sony Pictures Consumer Products let us play with the real thing!)
  • Out-of-this-world tech features lights, sounds, AND a motor for active roleplay and re-creating iconic scenes!
  • Two modes of play include lights and sounds from the 1984 classic film Ghostbusters and the upcoming 2021 Ghostbusters: Afterlife movie. Did we use supernatural sorcery? Nope, we just included a switch!
  • Modular and lightweight, this scientific wonder is the closest you can get to strapping a real nuclear particle accelerator to your back (and much less dangerous)!
  • Have we mentioned that this Proton Pack is compatible with the Ghostbusters Plasma Series Spengler’s Neutrona Wand (sold separately)? Because it is! The Proton Pack features a metal V-hook bracket that connects to the metal V-hook bracket on the bottom of the Neutrona Wand. Level up your cosplay game by stowing your wand on your pack when you’re not actively bustin’ ghosts!
  • Scary good screen-accurate details include the booster, power cell injectors, bumper, shock mount, and more! Oh, and yeah, you can open the cyclotron and explore its inner workings for the very first time. Seriously, if you don’t fund this Ghostbusters HasLab project it may be a decision that haunts you forever!
  • The Plasma Series Spengler’s Proton Pack was designed to be compatible with the ALICE system LC-1 Field Pack Frame and includes connection hardware.

Funimation Announces ‘The Vampire Dies in No Time’ English Dub

0

Funimation announced that the show ‘The Vampire Dies in No Time’ is getting an English dub. Japanese studio Madhouse has been producing the paranormal comedy anime since October 2021 with Hiroshi Kōjina serving as the director and Yukie Sugawara as the writer.
“What happens when a vampire hunter and a vampire become roommates?! We’re excited to announce that The Vampire Dies in No Time English dub is officially on its way to Funimation, and we’ve got your details on the cast, crew and when you can watch,” Funimation said on their website.  “Episode 1 of The Vampire Dies in No Time English dub will arrive on Funimation, so get ready to settle in for some hilarious antics from Ronaldo, Draluc, John the Armadillo and more”!
They continue, “The series English voice cast includes Ian Sinclair (Dragon Ball Super, WONDER EGG PRIORITY) as Ronaldo and Frank Todaro (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, The Rising of the Shield Hero) as Draluc.”
The anime is based on a manga written by Itaru Bonnoki which has, thus far, generated eighteen volumes. It was released by the Akita Shoten publishing company in their Weekly Shōnen Champion.
You can watch the trailer below:

The official synopsis explains, “The famed vampire hunter Ronaldo has been received a job to infiltrate the mansion owned by Dralc, who claims he is the most invincible vampire. Ronaldo hears Dralc has kidnapped a kid. However, the rumors about Dralc are not reality: After Ronaldo finally confronts Dralc, Dralc turns into sand. This makes Ronaldo realize that Dralc is the weakest vampire and the kid was not really kidnapped by him. The kid came into his mansion for the purpose of making it his “personal playground”. Dralc’s mansion completely explodes thanks to Ronaldo’s recklessness, he decides to bring Dralc to his place. The story follows Ronaldo and Dralc daily life and the comic action alongside their allies.”

Amazon Prime Partners With BBC For Social Media Inspired Thriller ‘Chloe’

0

Amazon Studios is partnering with the BBC to stream their upcoming six-part miniseries, ‘Chloe,’ a psychological thriller that is inspired by social media and how influencers impact our daily lives. The show is set to be released on BBC One and will stream to Amazon’s Prime Video app. Erin Doherty, best known for playing Princess Ann in ‘The Crown,’ will headline the series.
The official show synopsis reveals “‘Chloe’ follows Becky Green (Doherty), who has been watching Chloe Fairbourne (Poppy Gilbert) via her perfect social media images for some time. Chloe’s charmed life, adoring husband, and circle of high-achieving friends are always just a click away, and Becky can’t resist peering into a world that contrasts so starkly with her own, as she cares for her mother, who has early-onset dementia, in their small seaside flat on the outskirts of Bristol, England. When Chloe suddenly dies, Becky assumes a new identity and infiltrates the enviable lives of Chloe’s closest friends to find out what happened to her.”
Series creator Alice Seabright (Sex Education) told Variety, “Becky is a complex, courageous heroine and there is no one better to play her than Erin. All these characters have been a dream to write, and it now feels like they’ve found their soulmates in our amazing cast. I can’t wait to start bringing the show to life with them, and with our wonderful crew. Thank you to the BBC and Amazon, to our brilliant writers, Kayleigh Llewellyn, Poppy Cogan, and Bolu Babalola, and to my partners in crime – the powerhouses Tally Garner and Morven Reid.”
The limited series is co-produced by the BBC, Amazon Studios, and Mam Tor Productions with Banijay Rights earning the rights to distribute it internationally to over 240 countries.
Amazon released a set of “first look” photos, highlighting the cast of the show:

Krampus Joins the Festive ‘Naughty Or Nice’ Action Figure Line

0

Last week we covered the first batch of figures announced for Fresh Monkey Fiction’s Christmas-inspired toyline. There were Santas, elves, and nutcrackers. However, a specific holiday villain was absent. But, never fear, Krampus is here!
Two Krampus figures to be exact! There’s a standard version and a deluxe version. The main difference between the two, aside from a color swap, is the number of accessories. Each Krampus will stand at just over 6″ tall, dressed in their Santa suits.
The deluxe Krampus is priced at $49.99, while the “regular” baddie is $36.99. Both are coming out during the fourth quarter of 2022, but they can be pre-ordered now exclusively from the Big Bad Toy Store.

Fresh Monkey Fiction
Fresh Monkey Fiction
The standard Krampus has these accessories:

  • Stocking
  • Naughty or nice list
  • Lump of coal
  • Present

The deluxe version will come with the following:

  • Cloak
  • Krampus bag
  • Stocking
  • Present
  • 2 Lumps of coal
  • Naughty or nice list
  • Milk and cookies

For those unfamiliar with Krampus, he is the flip side of Santa. Where Father Christmas rewards the kind and virtuous children, Krampus punishes the wicked ones. Rather than leaving coal, Krampus beats the kids with a branch from a birch tree.
Fans of the fictional being can also pick up other Krampus-related merchandise from the website here. For those who are more fans of horror than the happy holidays, it’s the perfect excuse for us to put up demons and other evil beings around the tree each year.
Over the past decade, there have been many horror films based on the mythical creature. The best out of the bunch was Michael Dougherty’s Krampus. The man knows his holiday horror, for sure.

A few years ago, the film also got its own haunted house at Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights. The creature doesn’t show up in full until the end, but several of the other demons and misshapen Christmas creatures were all over the place. It was probably one of the best houses that year.

HasLab’s Ghostbusters Proton Pack Passes Tier 1, Free Hoses For All!

0

I’ve been keeping an eye on the progress of HasLab’s Proton Pack campaign. The original goal was funded in just about a week, but that didn’t mean we would be getting everything needed for a complete unlicensed nuclear accelerator. Now, with over 9,200 backers, Class One has been unlocked, and we’re one step closer to having a full-on replica.
Why was it so important to get to this first tier? Well, the pack itself doesn’t come with a particle thrower. Nor does it come with any way to connect the thrower to the proton pack. So, basically, for the $399, you were getting the pack itself, and that’s it. So, even with the original goal met, there’d be no way to connect the two parts.
Sure, there would be plenty of ways to do this thanks to modders and the aftermarket community, but I would have personally felt cheated. So why produce the pack, make the neutrino wand separate, and then have no way to connect them officially?
Over the weekend and after the successful release of Ghostbusters: Afterlife in theatres, the first goal was exceeded by more than 200 backers. This leaves three other goals unlocked, but Hasbro has yet to announce what is included, aside from the fourth goal being a stand for the replica.
Hasbro has not acknowledged the first unlock yet, but we’ll see that this coming week before Thanksgiving, probably.

Hasbro
The overall connectivity between the pack and wand has not been established yet. Right now, the Spengler wand has all the sound effects from the proton pack, including the overheating noise, among others, from Ghostbusters: The Video Game.
I do not recall the proton pack’s cyclotron or blue power indicator changing during usage of the wand. So maybe the connection will turn the wand on or cause it to shut off if it overheats? I guess we’ll find out soon when Hasbro updates the page.

Super7 Wants You To Fight Crime as Knight Rider’s Michael Knight

I’ll be honest with ya. I’d buy any action figure made if it was based on a David Hasselhoff character. From Nick Fury to Colonel Gilbert Shepard, I’d purchase it if it had his curly hair and great jawline. The same goes for Super7‘s newest ReAction figure from Knight Rider.
Michael Knight, the man who had his face reconstructed after getting shot and joining a crime-fighting organization, is now a 3.75″ tall retro action figure. Super7 chose to go with the most iconic look, complete with a red unbuttoned shirt, chest hair, black leather jacket, shiny belt buckle, blue jeans, and black boots. Nothing screams the 1980s more than this version of Hasselhoff.
The packaging for Michael Knight is 100% Knight Rider-themed with KITT’s dashboard feature on the back. I’ve said it before, when will Super7 start producing vehicles to go along with these action figures?!

Super7
Super7

Michael Knight, a lone crusader in a dangerous world. Rescued from near-death, given a new identity, partnered with a high-tech artificially intelligent car, and charged with a mission to fight crime, Michael Knight was the epitome of 80s cool.

This 3.75″ version of Michael would almost be perfect to fit inside of the old Kenner talking KITT from the 1980s. I believe the original Knight figure was a little taller, but for those of us who long ago lost our Hasselhoff figure during the Great Action Figure Wars, the Super7 version is a good substitute.
Kenner was the company behind a lot of fantastic franchise-based toylines in the ’80s, including Star Wars. Unfortunately, even though Knight Rider ran for quite a few seasons, the toyline from Kenner was pretty limited. Great, but limited.
The toy company produced the “talking” KITT, an RC KITT, and three smaller vehicle sets. One of these was the “crash” playset that let you plow the high-tech Trans Am through a semi truck’s trailer. Check out the history of these toys below.

Check Out ThreeZero’s Walking Dead Figures of Rick, Carol, and Maggie

The Walking Dead may be well past its prime, but the upcoming action figures from ThreeZero bring us back to the simpler days before the fifth season. The Honk Kong-based company is known for producing highly detailed figurines from several IPs, including Transformers, Marvel, Ultraman, and even Stranger Things.
ThreeZero has three characters from the long-running AMC zombie series on the way during the first half of 2022. These characters include Season 1 Rick Grimes, commando Carol Peletier, and Maggie Rhee. Each figure has a price tag of $179.

Each figure comes with a variety of weapons and interchangeable parts. Most of the clothing is made up of soft goods, which are, admittedly, very impressive. Usually, Hot Toys is the place to go for quality 1/6th scale tailor work, but ThreeZero has made some great duds for the trio.
Rick’s uniform sports a lot of tiny details that other companies would have just skimmed over. Meanwhile, Maggie’s denim jeans look amazing. As a collector of figures, I look at the craftsmanship of these things closely. So even if the figure turns out to not look like the actress, I may get it to check out how ThreeZero managed to create the outfits.
We’ve covered previous ThreeZero figures, including Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and John Rambo. I’ll have to say that Rambo and Rick Grimes have the best face sculpts. Carol’s is pretty good, but there’s something off about the eyes. Melissa McBride has very distinct eyes, and sometimes it isn’t easy to capture that in static form.
For some reason, Maggie looks nothing like the actress Lauren Cohan. The jawline and eyes are off just a tad. The final product may be different or improved. I’ll wait until the figure starts shipping out before I drop $179.

NECA’s New Doc Brown Figure Has Seen Some Serious S#!t!

The man invented time travel, tricked out a Delorean, and bamboozled terrorists out of a case of plutonium. Doc Brown in the first Back to the Future movie was a serious Mad Lad. So he deserves to have that smug look on his face in this new action figure from NECA.
As he appeared during the first-time travel experiment, Doc Brown is the latest addition to NECA’s BTTF toy line. The wild-eyed, wild-haired scientist comes with several accessories and interchangeable hands, arms, and heads. You can even capture that smirk when he tells Marty that he is about to see some severe s#!t.
The bad news is that the price of collectibles is still increasing. You can pre-order Doc from Entertainment Earth, but right now, the figure is priced at $34.99. He is set to arrive in our timeline in April 2022.

From Back to the Future, Doctor Emmett Brown, the genius inventor of the time machine and one of the greatest movie characters of all time, is ready to test his creation!
Featuring the official licensed likeness of actor Christopher Lloyd, this Ultimate Doc Brown 7” scale action figure is based on his hazmat suit appearance in 1985. Includes interchangeable heads, swappable arms and hands, revolver, clipboard and time machine remote control.

I think NECA has almost every version of Doc Brown covered. The last stop should be the multiple 1885 Hill Valley ones. NECA should start producing 1/6th scale Deloreans to go along with these figures.
They’d probably be priced around $200 given the size, but it’s a better alternative to the $1k+ Hot Toys or Eaglemoss alternatives. What I’d really like is a Time Train model. Why hasn’t there been a kit for that yet? I don’t ever remember even seeing a small version.
Out of those costumes, which Doc should NECA do first? Let us know in the comments section.

New ‘Earthworm Jim’ Animated Series in the Works

0

A new Earthworm Jim animated tv series has recently been announced to be in development. Interplay Entertainment Corp, who own the rights to the Earthworm Jim games, has partnered with APA to bring the series to life. Interplay is setting up to develop new TV and film projects after forming a new TV and film division. This division will be lead by Michel K. Parandi. Parandi will be working with producer Aaron Billet and animation studio Passion Pictures. Marc Bodin-Joyeux will be the producer to help develop the newly formed division with the properties TV and film content creation.

The new series reboot, titled “Earthworm Jim, Beyond the Groovy“, will follow the adventures of Jim, a worm in a futuristic robotic suit who fights evildoers. The series will also bring in new characters as they navigate the galaxy, where each planet is home to a race of anthropomorphic animals. Jim’s ultimate quest is to find his true home among the stars: a near-mythical planet called Earth.

“I remember loving ‘Earthworm Jim’ as a kid. And there’s so much potential in this story universe: a galaxy full of animals battling for power,” Parandi says. “Jim is an earthworm in a universe where Earth is nothing more than a myth. His struggle to find meaning is surreal and comical, but it’s also relatable.”

“We are thrilled for the opportunity to create a show for an iconic character that we grew up both playing on Genesis, and watching on TV. The fans have matured and deserve a current take as we bring in new audiences.”
-Aaron Billet

Interplay has responded to a question as to whether the original creator of Earthworm Jim, Doug TenNapel, would be involved with the creation of this series in a tweet:

Here is a first look at the potential series:

When news of who the cast members would be for the Netflix live action Cowboy Bebop first started to come out, along with photos from the 2021 series, one member was notably absent, with no hint as to who, or when, or even if, Edward would be making an appearance. Earlier today, Netflix Geeked Twitter finally announced with a gif of live action Radical Ed.

Radical Ed makes a first appearance in the last scene of the final episode of the season. Episode 10 is titled “Supernova Symphony”. Ed first appears with Ein in an alley to a passed out Spike. Ed is trying to wake Spike up to tell him they have a dangerous job for him that involves tracking down someone known as the Butterfly Man.

Here is a short clip shared on Twitter by AwestruckVox:
