Vincent Kartheiser Joins ‘Titans’ Season 3 Cast As Scarecrow

0

‘Titans’ season three is bringing another antagonist from Gotham City in the form of Professor Jonathan Crane, better known as Scarecrow. ‘Mad Men’ actor Vincent Kartheiser has been tapped to portray the character for the HBO Max show based on the DC Comics series, according to Deadline.
Kartheiser is perhaps best known for his role as Pete Campbell on the hit series ‘Mad Men.’ He has also been seen in such films as ‘The Most Hated Woman in America,’ ‘My Friend Dahmer,’ and as an AI in the critically-acclaimed documentary ‘The Social Dilemma.’

Scarecrow is one of the Dark Knight’s most frequent adversaries. He was first developed by Batman co-creators Bob Kane and Bill Finger with their collaborator Jerry Robinson. He made his comic book debut in ‘World’s Finest.’ His reach would extend beyond Gotham City as he would join the Legion of Doom, Secret Society of Super Villains, and even the Sinestro Corps.
The Arkham Inmate was famously portrayed by Cillian Murphy as the main antagonist in ‘Batman Begins’ and made cameo appearances in the subsequent sequels. Henry Polic II voiced him in ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ with Jeffrey Combs taking over in ‘The New Batman Adventures.’ He was played by Charlie Tahan and David W. Thompson in the FOX television series ‘Gotham.’
Brenton Thwaites, Anna Diop, Teagan Croft, Ryan Potter, Minka Kelly, and Alan Ritchson are returning in their respective roles as ‘Titan’ regulars Dick Grayson, Kory Anders, Rachel Roth, Gar Logan, Dawn Granger, and Hank Hall. Iain Glen will be reprising his role as Bruce Wayne with Curran Walters returning as Jason Todd, though now he will portray the Red Hood.
‘Titans’ is executive produced by Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Greg Walker. It originally appeared on DC Universe before being moved to the HBO Max streaming service.

TMNT’S Ultimate APRIL O’NEIL Available for Pre-Order from NECA

0

The NECA line of ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle’ figures has been supreme. Whether it was cartoon turtles, Jim Henson turtles, or video game turtles, all the toys looked amazing. Yet, after years of these figures being out, there was a noticeable exclusion. Where was the 1990’s April O’Neil?
Well, after a long wait, the Channel 5 news reporter will be hitting the market. There will be a standard version and a limited edition sporting a yellow raincoat and signed by her living counterpart, Judith Hoag.
NECAIt’s my opinion that Judith Hoag was the best April O’Neil out of all the incarnations of the Turtles franchise. She was strong-willed, smart, caring, and was willing to go toe-to-toe with the Foot when confronted early on in the movie.
That and she’s a natural redhead. So, yeah. That makes her an instant win.
Hoag recently took over NECA to talk about her action figure. Below is the fourth and final episode of her mini news segment.

From the 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie! After wading in a puddle of radioactive waste, four radical reptiles are transformed into New York City’s greatest crime-fighting quartet. Also keeping an eye on the city’s unprecedented crime wave is intrepid Channel 3 reporter April O’Neil, who eventually finds herself face-to-face with the Turtles when Raphael rescues her from Foot Clan ninjas. April is super articulated, highly detailed and accurate to the movie, featuring the authorized likeness of Judith Hoag. The 7″ figure comes with alternate head and hands, Channel 3 microphone, purse, pizza stack, and sai accessories.

It’s unfortunate that we only got this April once on screen. If we know anything about Hollywood, though, I will bet she would appear again in some sort of weird TMNT reboot.
Pre-orders are available now over at the NECA Store. April is limited to two per customer.
Who was your favorite April O’ Neil? Let us know in the comments.

‘The Idhun Chronicles’ Part 3 Will Not Stream On Netflix

0

The Spanish language ‘Memorias de Idhún,’ known in English as ‘The Idhun Chronicles’ ended its initial ten-episode run on the streaming service in a cliffhanger, as the protagonists prepare to face off against their mortal enemy.
Fans looking forward to seeing how part three will conclude the story arc will be disappointed as the series creator announced that the animated series, oftentimes billed as an anime, will not be returning to Netflix.
“No more seasons are planned,” book author Laura Gellego said according to What’s On Netflix. “The adaptation was only for the first book.” She added, “No agreement has been reached to adapt the following books, sorry.”
No further explanation has been given by Netflix or by the production company Zeppelin TV.
The only clue given was Gellego’s very public disappointment in the casting choices for the English broadcast.
“In autumn 2018, a casting was carried out between professional voice actors to interpret the characters of the anime series ‘Memories of Idhún,’ in its Spanish version,” she said. “I was allowed to participate in the final selection of this casting and we had already chosen the cast of voice actors who would voice the characters. Some time later, and unexpectedly, some of these actors were replaced by others with no experience in dubbing.
She continued, “I want to clarify that from the first moment my wish was that all the characters in the series were played by actors specialized in dubbing. Those responsible for the series had other preferences regarding dubbing in Spanish and it was their criteria that prevailed at the end. Therefore, I would like to point out that these specific voices are not the ones I had imagined for my characters.”
No comment has been made if the series will continue on another streaming service or if a reboot of ‘The Idhun Chronicles’ is in the works.

WWE Tag-Teams With Crunchyroll For A New Anime

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has not been shy about expanding its brand beyond the wrestling mat into the film, animation, and television beyond the sport.
With the rise in popularity of the Japanese-style anime, it seems as no surprise that WWE has announced that they are expanding into the medium with a ten-episode series partnership with Crunchyroll.
According to Sports Rush, WWE President and Chief Revenue Officer Nick Khan made the announcement during a webcast of the WWE’s first quarter 2021 results.
“As we continued to expand WWE’s brand beyond the ring, we remained focused on developing the slate of original programming from WWE Studios,” he said. “We sold a multi-episode anime series to Crunchyroll, which is now owned by Sony.”
There is nothing else known about the series or who will be featured in it, but no doubt the success of such anime features like ‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train‘ made this deal more lucrative.
As SR notes, several of their wrestlers such as Sasha Banks, the New Day, Keith Lee, Ronda Rousey, Rhea Ripley, and others have worn anime-inspired costumes for various WrestleMania events.
This is not the first time the WWE has made a foray into animation. They have partnered with Warner Media for crossovers with several of their Hanna-Barbera Production characters including Scooby-Doo, The Flintstones, and The Jetsons.
John Cena, The Undertaker, Triple H, Paige, and Michael Cole starred in the Sony Pictures Animation feature ‘Surf’s Up 2: WaveMania.’ Roman Reigns is set to appear in the Paramount Animation feature ‘Rumble.’
Seth Green has also worked with WWE Studios to produce ‘Camp WWE’ an animated series that features several retired wrestlers as themselves including Ric Flair, Sgt. Slaughter, and Jake Roberts in a summer camp setting.
WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon has made appearances in ‘Surf’s Up 2’ and ‘Camp WWE’ as himself.

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal The Movie Coming to Netflix June 3

0

After a long and nerve-wracking wait, we finally have an official announcement for when Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal The Movie parts 1 and 2 is released outside of Japan. Surprisingly to most people, Netflix snatched up the streaming rights from Hulu, who have, up until this point, acquired streamings rights to all of the Sailor Moon series. It’s very likely Toei wanted to release the movies globally due to the pandemic that’s been happening worldwide, and Netflix has a greater reach than Hulu.

Japan was originally going to release the first movie on September 11, 2020, but changed the release dates to January 8th and February 11th, 2021. Sailor Moon Eternal was the 1st movie of the anime franchise to be in Japanese theaters after more than 20 years. Now the rest of the world learns that parts 1 and 2 are coming to Netflix worldwide on June 3rd, 2021, which happens to be the month of Usagi and Chibiusa’s birthday (they share a birthday on June 30th).

“Like so many others around the world, I trace my love for anime back to watching ‘Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon’ when I was a toddler – pictures of me in Usagi’s Bun Head have become a family treasure. It’s no surprise that these characters and tales about love and justice still touch the hearts of so many fans around the world,” said Ema Hirayama, Manager, Content Acquisition, Netflix. “It’s a dream come true for all of us at Netflix to have ‘Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal The Movie’ join our expansive anime slate and to share this incredible story with fans around the world.”

Fumio Osano, Editor-in-Chief, Comic IP Development Team (Kodansha) also has a message for everyone: “We have long been hoping to bring the ‘Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal The Movie’ to people around the world since the initial release in Japan in January and February, 2021. Today, we are excited to bring these movies to our fans through Netflix. Amidst these challenging times, it is our greatest pleasure for viewers to feel courage and hope by watching this story about love and justice.”
The trailer opens up with different audio translations of Sailor Moon saying “In the name of the moon…!”. Netflix also offers 17 different language closed captions to choose from. In the audio, you will hear the original Viz dub mixed in the intro. Several cast members who voiced in the Viz dub have confirmed via twitter that they are returning, including: Sailor Pluto, Sailor Neptune, Sailor Uranus, Sailor Venus, Sailor Jupiter, Sailor Mars, Sailor Chibi Moon, and Sailor Moon.

The theme of the upcoming movies is ‘Dreams’. Based on the ‘Dream Arc’ of the original hit manga series, the story is about the Sailor Guardians’ growth, both as teenage girls and as Sailor Guardians, as well as the faint first love of Chibi-Usa and Helios.

The movies takes place right after the third season of Sailor Moon Crystal. It sets in “April, when the cherry blossoms are in bloom and Tokyo is in a festive mood as it celebrates the largest Total Solar Eclipse of the century. As the new moon obscures the sun and gradually dims its light, Usagi and Chibi-Usa encounter Pegasus, who is in search of the chosen Maiden who can break the seal of the Golden Crystal. Meanwhile, a mysterious troupe called the Dead Moon Circus appears in town who’s nefarious plan is to scatter the nightmare incarnations known as Lemures, seize the ‘Legendary Silver Crystal,’ rule over the moon and the earth, and eventually dominate the entire universe…”

I’m so excited to see the continuation of the manga adaption! What about you?

Netflix Introduces Official Anime Brand Ambassador

0

Over the years, Netflix has been investing in anime content for their streaming platform. Some of the Netflix-exclusive animes are Seven Deadly Sins, Violet Evergarden, Agretsuko, Little Witch Academia, and Carole & Tuesday. Netflix aims to be a big player in the anime industry. And they now have taken another step forward to get into the Virtual YouTuber scene with an official “anime brand ambassador”.

Meet sheep-human lifeform N-Ko Mei Kurono. Her name, Mei, resembles the sounds a sheep makes. The character design of N-Ko pays homage to Netflix, even within her name. The ‘N’ signifies ‘Netflix’. The black Netflix ‘N’ hairpin with red stripes throughout her hair. Along with the red N’s running down her dress. The posters in her room being of shows the company streams like Beastars and Agretsuko. N-ko is 24 years old, with her birthday being August 29th. She is 162cm, which is about 5 ft 3 in. Her hometown is in Los Gatos, CA, which happens to be where the Netflix global headquarters is located.

In the video, she says her hobbies are singing, dancing, massage, and of course, watching lots of anime. Her dislikes are writing in kanji and anything that contains horror type content. The actress who voices her is an anonymous California-raised Netflix employee. She can speak both Japanese and English. N-ko’s “mother” is listed as 2D illustrator Fubuki, while her “father” is 3-D creator Tumidango

She says she will be talking about anime content that is on Netflix and recommending them. N-ko also plans to collaborate with other VTubers to sing songs and do video game commentaries.

First introduction of N-ko:

These videos have ten different subtitles, which are Brazilian Portuguese, traditional Chinese, English, German, French, Indonesian, Italian, Korean, Spanish, Thai, and Vietnamese. Episodes begins airing this Friday, April 30th, 10 am Japan time, 9 pm est (Japan is 13 hours ahead of est).

It is “Game Over” For This ‘ALIENS’ Action Figure From Super7

0

Hicks was my favorite colonial marine. I mean Hudson. He knew right away he wanted out of this assignment before leaving the Sulaco. He may have enjoyed the express elevator to Hell, but Hudson wasn’t ready for the nightmare on LV-426.
We learned via Figures.com that a new version of Hudson was hitting their already awesome ‘ALIEN’ line of action figures. This one is based on the scene after the dropship crashed, leaving Hudson, Hicks, Ripley, and the others stranded. He even comes with a unique blister card with his now infamous cry, “Game over, man! Game over!”

Super7

When you’ve just narrowly escaped from the Atmosphere Processing Plant with only part of your squad, having your UD-4 Dropship crash can do some serious damage to your calm and sense of well-being, as PFC. Hudson can readily attest. This 3.75” fully articulated Aliens ReAction figure of Marine Squad Leader W.L. Hudson depicts the famous “Game over, man!” moment from the classic sci-fi movie. We all have our “Game over, man!” moments, so order this Aliens ReAction figure of Hudson’s famous moment of crisis to remind yourself that as bad as it seems, things will eventually work out… unless you’re dragged away by Xenomorphs in a blaze of glory. Then it’s time to reevaluate some of your life decisions.

Even at 3.75″, this figure packs all of the late Bill Paxton’s crazy charm. He comes with the appropriate accessories: one pulse rifle and helmet. No more. No less.
This variant is only one of several hitting the series. There are several new xenomorphs, including repaints and brand new figures, that can be pre-ordered here. The new editions include a gold warrior alien, the Newborn, and the dog/ox alien from ‘ALIEN 3.’ They’re expected to ship in May.
Hudson had previously been released with an unemotional facial expression before. If you’re in any way a fan of this colonial marine, you’ll know that Hudson is at his best when being overcome with stress.
Hudson eventually redeemed himself during the big standoff in Hadley’s Hope. He took down several xenomorphs before eventually being dragged under the floor panels to an uncertain fate. If you played ‘ALIENS: Colonial Marines, ‘ maybe you caught the Hudson Easter egg that hints at his fate.
Did you find Hudson in the game? Which marine was your favorite? Let us know in the comments.

Netflix Picks Up ‘Wings of Fire’ Book Series For Animated Series Adaption

0

Tui T. Sutherland’s fantasy novel series ‘Wings of Fire’ has been selected by Netflix as an upcoming ten-episode animated series to be produced through Warner Bros. Animation and Ava DuVernay’s production company Array Productions.
Netflix said in a press release obtained by TV Series Finale,
“Wings of Fire is an animated event series adaptation of the #1 New York Times and USA Today best-selling book series from author Tui T. Sutherland. A bitter war has raged for generations between the dragon tribes who inhabit the epic world of Pyrrhia. According to prophecy, five young dragons will rise to end the bloodshed and bring peace back to the land. Raised and trained in secret from the time they were hatched, the Dragonets of destiny – Clay, Tsunami, Glory, Starflight, and Sunny – embark on an evolving quest that will bring them face to face with their true selves and the overwhelming scope of this savage war they are destined to bring to an end.”
The ‘Wings of Fire’ series has fifteen books in the main series and also features spin-off books and graphic novels. It follows the events on the fictitious continent of Pyrrhia and its seven tribes of dragons. Sutherland will act as the executive producer for the series.

According to a press release from Sutherland,
“I’ve always loved dragons – from Beauty in Dragonsong to Kazul in Dealing with Dragons, from Falkor to Sisu, from Temeraire to Toothless. I love that they can be funny and fierce, terrifying and loyal, all at the same time.
When I started writing my own dragon series, Wings of Fire, I knew a few important things. I knew I wanted it to be a big epic fantasy with a sense of humor and kindhearted heroes. I wanted to explore questions of fate vs. free will, different ways of handling power, nature and nurture, family and empathy and friendship.
And perhaps most of all, I wanted it to be a story told entirely from the dragons’ point of view.
In the world of Pyrrhia, dragons get to have all the adventures. They get to be the ones who save the day, fall in love, fight the bad guys, and maybe fulfill a prophecy or two, if they feel like it. (There are humans in this world, but… they mostly just get eaten a lot.)
And now I am so excited to invite you into the Wings of Fire world in a whole new way: as a TV show on Netflix! “Will there ever be a TV show?” has been the #1 question I’ve gotten at events almost from the beginning, and the answer is finally yes!
Not just “yes,” but “yes, AND I cannot believe the amazing team who are going to make this so great.” I am so immensely thrilled and grateful that Ava DuVernay is our Queen of Dragons (I’m pretty sure that’s the official title). Ava is someone who saves the world every day without waiting for any prophecy to tell her what to do. I hope some of my dragons grow up to be just like her!
And I knew the minute I met our showrunners, Dan Milano and Christa Starr, that they are funny, kind, super-nerd kindred spirits who 100% understand what I’m trying to do with the books. FanWings, you will love them, too! In their talented hands, I have faith the TV show will fulfill the dreams of all the people who’ve asked me that question over the years.
When I started writing this series, I wanted to show that any dragon can be part of saving the world, no matter how shy or weird or prickly or overly enthusiastic they are. I wanted the readers to feel that, too – that each of you is important and wonderful just as you are, and you can make a difference.
I wanted you to see yourselves in the pages of this dragon world – and now I hope you’ll be able to see yourselves on screen as well.
I cannot wait to go on this journey with this team and with you!”

‘American Psycho’ TV Remake Is In The Works

1

The 2000 slasher film ‘American Psycho’ starring Christian Bale as serial killer Patrick Bateman has become a cult classic over time with several scenes becoming internet memes.
Directed by Mary Harron, it follows Bateman as he murders co-workers and bystanders as he dodges a nosy police detective played by Willem Dafoe. Its popularity saw a much-maligned sequel released in 2002. Now a Lionsgate Studio exec has confirmed that a TV remake of the black comedy horror is ‘in development.
Speaking to Deadline, “We’ve just wrapped up ‘Dear White People’ which was a really good experience, ‘Blindspotting’ is coming up, ‘American Psycho’ is in development.”
Little is known about the project, as no casting or release date has been announced as of the writing of this piece.
The 2000 film was based on the novel ‘American Psycho’ by writer Bret Easton Ellis. It follows Patrick Bateman, a New York investment banker who is secretly a serial killer. Things start to unravel when he murders his colleague, played by Jared Leto in the movie.
“[Bateman] was crazy the same way [I was],” Ellis said in an interview. “He did not come out of me sitting down and wanting to write a grand sweeping indictment of yuppie culture. It initiated because of my own isolation and alienation at a point in my life. I was living like Patrick Bateman. I was slipping into a consumerist kind of void that was supposed to give me confidence and make me feel good about myself but just made me feel worse and worse and worse about myself. That is where the tension of American Psycho came from. It wasn’t that I was going to make up this serial killer on Wall Street. High concept. Fantastic. It came from a much more personal place, and that’s something that I’ve only been admitting in the last year or so. I was so on the defensive because of the reaction to that book that I wasn’t able to talk about it on that level.”
When the 2002 sequel came out direct-to-video, it was a failure with both critics and audiences. Even star Mila Kunis denounced the film.
“Please somebody stop this,” she said in 2005. “Write a petition. When I did the second one, I didn’t know it would be American Psycho II. It was supposed to be a different project, and it was re-edited, but, ooh … I don’t know. Bad.”

‘Halloween Kills’ Set Photo Hints At Flashback Sequence

0

I’m glad that ‘Halloween’ got a reboot. Sure, that means some of the more quirky parts of the series are no longer canon. At the same time, it also invalidated ‘Halloween: Resurrection’ and Rob Zombie’s ‘Halloween’ films. It also brought back Jamie Lee Curtis’s Laurie Strode in a meaningful way.
Now, if you haven’t seen 2018’s ‘Halloween,’ we’re going to spoil things. It looked like the seemingly unstoppable Michael Myers had met a fiery end at the end of that film. He was trapped in a basement and set on fire with no apparent way of escape. However, if horror tropes have taught us anything, it’s that no good boogeyman stays “dead” long.
Of course, he was going to return! You can’t have ‘Halloween’ without Myers. Well, you could, but you’re never going to get something as awesome as Tom Atkins in ‘Halloween III’ ever again. Ain’t gonna happen. Nope. Never.
We Got This Covered napped an image from the set of the upcoming sequel. The producer of ‘Halloween Kills,’ Ryan Freimann, posted a picture on Instagram that is interesting. A pair of vintage vehicles, one an ambulance, another a wagon similar to the one driven by Dr. Loomis in the original 1978 ‘Halloween.’

Ryan Freimann | Instagram
I’m going to make a definitive statement that these two props are part of a flashback sequence. I couldn’t see any town, even Haddonfield, using such old automobiles. Both props look like they’re in pristine condition, too.
Does this mean that Loomis will make some appearance? Digi-Loomis? So far, the cast doesn’t list an actor playing the role. This may all focus on stuff that happened between Michael’s escape and before he nabbed that now-famous mask. I’d still like to know where and when he learned how to drive a car. He was incarcerated as a kid, after all.
‘Halloween Kills’ will hit on October 15th, 2021. The film is directed by David Gordon Green and stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Anthony Michael Hall.
What are your theories about the vehicles? Flashback? Will we see a digital Dr. Loomis? Let us know in the comments.
