Slice-Of-Life Anime ‘Komi Can’t Communicate’ Gets An English Dub

0

‘Komi Can’t Communicate’ is a slice-of-life manga written and illustrated by Tomohito Oda and published by Shogakukan. Its story of a teenager suffering from social anxiety wanting to make friends proved popular among readers which expanded when Viz Media released the manga in the United States. This led to an anime adaption directed by Ayumu Watanabe and Kazuki Kawagoe for the Japanese animation studio OLM which was released in North America on Netflix. Crunchyroll reports that VSI Los Angles produced an English dub for the streaming service, being released in early February 2022.
Taking on the protagonist Komi is ‘Fairy Tail’ voice actress Amber Lee Connors, who expressed her excitement on social media.

“I’m beyond ecstatic to announce you can hear me as Shoko Komi in ‘Komi Can’t Communicate.'” she wrote. “This role is incredibly special to me, as someone who grew up with severe social anxiety & worked hard to overcome it. You can check the dub out on Netflix now!”
The rest of the cast includes Kyle McCarley as Hitohito Tadano, Skyler Davenport as Najimi Osana, Casey Mongillo as Nene Onemine, Cherami Leigh as Omoharu Nakanaka, Cristina Vee as Ren Yamai, and Amber May as the narrator.
You can watch the trailer for the show:

Wikipedia describes the synopsis as follows,
“On her first day attending the elite Itan Private High School, Shouko Komi immediately receives an overwhelming surge in popularity due to the unprecedented stoic beauty and refined elegance her classmates perceive her to possess. However, only Hitohito Tadano, an exceedingly average schoolboy who sits next to her, discovers that behind her bishōjo appearance, Komi has a severe communication disorder. Subsequently, Tadano resolves to help Komi reach her goal of 100 friends.”
‘Komi Can’t Communicate’ has been renewed for a second season set to premiere in April 2022.
Atsuko Nakajima handled the character designs for the show with Deko Akao handling the scripts.

0

The badest mutated warthog punk is out to blast some turtles in this new PCS statue. Bebop may not be the smartest mutant, but he is the most stylish. Look at him! He’s rocking a purple mohawk, purple shades, a red vest, and turtle shell shoulder pads! Also, look at those high-top Converse shoes! Bebop was styling.
There are two versions of Bebop currently available. The Sideshow exclusive version comes with a Mouser and is $650. The statue stands at 16″ tall, 12.5″ wide, and 17″ deep. The regular 1:4 scale Bebop is priced at $625. The estimating ship date is between March and May 2023.
Rocksteady is also on the market at the same price points for both the standard and Sideshow exclusive editions. If you’re looking for the Shredder, he can be picked up for $625 here, too.

The Bebop Statue measures 16” tall and 12.5” wide, toughed up and tusked up in the fight against the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He stands on a base of cracked flooring and rubble, holding his blaster for battle. Fully sculpted based on his classic animated appearance, Bebop wears chains, grenades, and turtle shell shoulder armor in addition to a red vest, black pants, and purple shades to match his mohawk.
The Exclusive Edition of the Bebop Statue includes a proximity figure of a Mouser robot, ready to chomp through your TMNT collection alongside Shredder’s henchmen. This added display piece can be arranged anywhere in your collection, and measures 8.5” tall and 5” wide.
With the Turtles and these three villains out of the way, does that mean PCS will soon be unveiling a Kraang statue? I hope so! But which Kraang? Robot suit or the little walker version?

Spider-Man: No Way Home’s Doc Ock Is Looking Good As A Hot Toys Figure

A man named Otto Octavius ends up with eight arms? What are the odds? Let’s call him Science Squid! Or better yet, let’s call him Alfred Molina! Nope, not catchy enough. How about Doctor Octopus, the fantastic Hot Toys figure?
Doc Ock returned to the silver screen in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and as to be expected from Hot Toys, there’s a standard and deluxe version of the character. However, the difference is pretty slight between the two. It all comes down to a few additional tentacle parts and $30. Here we’re going to focus on the deluxe Alfred Molina because he is trying to do better.
The deluxe Doc is $360, and the standard version can be picked up for $330. Both are slated for release sometime during the fourth quarter of 2023.

Iron Studios Wants To Seduce You With This Bela Lugosi ‘Dracula’ Statue

For over ninety years, Bela Lugosi’s appearance in Universal’s Dracula has inspired generations of movie vampires, costumes, toys, and various other depictions in pop culture. Bela was imposing and seductive, from the red-lined cape to the sharp tuxedo.
Over the past two years, we’ve seen a noticeable uptick in the amount of Universal Monsters merchandise hitting the market. Since the “Dark Universe” failed to launch, Universal must have realized that you can’t really replace the originals. I’m not complaining. This means more awesome monster stuff!
And that’s the case with the latest statue from Iron Studios.
The statue-making company is producing a new 1:10 scale Deluxe Dracula statue. It is priced at $189.99. It stands 8.6″ tall, 9″ wide, and 4.3″ deep. This incarnation of the bloodsucker is made of polystone and will start shipping out during the fourth quarter of 2022.

In the border between Transylvania and Wallachia, in the middle of the forest in the Carpathian Mountains, a noble and eccentric aristocratic figure, dressed in a gallant formal suit open its red and black cape like giant wings of a night creature, fixating its hypnotic eyes to feed from the blood of live prey to maintain its power and immortality. Thus, Iron Studios proudly present their statue with the most famous vampire from fiction, on a diorama pedestal with the staircase steps from its castle and a wild wolf howling by its side, highlighting its power to control the creatures of the night.
Dracula, already available for Pre-Order, adds to Iron Studios’ collection along with The Wolf Man and The Mummy, both also available for Pre-Order, as another pop icon inspired by the horror movies and immortalized in different film productions. Iron Studios will also bring the regular variant statue with the figure of the vampire lord in a simple pedestal from Iron Studios.

‘The Orville: New Horizons’ Opening Minutes Promise Lots Of Action

0

The Orville was a welcome series for those of us who got turned off by Kurtzman’s various “edgy” Star Trek series. Seth MacFarlane’s science fiction series managed to poke fun at and also honor the tropes of Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek universe. But, on top of that, The Orville was also its own thing with an identity that evolved beyond what could have been a parody.
Sadly, we only got two seasons on Fox before the series went on hiatus in 2019. However, the Orville was picked up by Hulu, and we’ve finally got a new look at what to expect in the renamed series now known as The Orville: New Horizons. We spotted the trailer over at Ars Technica.
The special effects-laden trailer looks to pick up either during the first battle with the Kaylons or shortly after the second season’s finale. Several Planetary Union ships are destroyed. The scene transitions to inside the ship where we get a lot of sparks and explosions, like a good old Star Trek episode. There’s a lot of death. Holes are blown in the ship, sucking out crew member after crewmember.
Then we get a jumpscare. The show’s new intro follows this. The Orville sports a far more detailed hull now. The ship is loaded with more panel lines and various other mechanical detail. And that’s it. That’s where the clip ends.

Seth MacFarlane took to his Twitter to thank those of us who were eagerly awaiting the crew’s return. In his message, the show’s creator states that the series will be premiering on June 2nd exclusively on Hulu, and he links to the video from above.

Say what you will about the current state of Family Guy, but I believe Seth’s heart is all in with The Orville.

The Razzies Honor Bruce Willis With His Own Category

‘Die Hard’ actor Bruce Willis has received many nominations for his work in cinema and has won several including a Golden Globe, two People Choice Awards, Primetime Emmy’s, and Blockbuster Entertainment Awards. For 2021, he is getting a different kind of honor for the eight films he made that year. For this year’s ceremony, Golden Raspberry Awards, also known as the Razzies, is gifting ‘The Sixth Sense’ actor with his own category.
The ‘Worst Bruce Willis Performance in a 2021 movie’ will be included in the Razzies according to an NME report. ‘American Siege,’ ‘Apex,’ ‘Cosmic Sin,’ ‘Deadlock,’ ‘Fortress,’ ‘Midnight In The Switchgrass,’ ‘Out Of Death,’ and ‘Survive The Game’ are all included with the category with ‘Breach,’ ‘Hard Kill,’ and ‘Survive the Night’ also garnering a Worst Supporting Actor for Willis.
“Here’s a look at what we saw … the excruciating musicals, thrill-free thriller rip-offs, a nearly 2 hour product placement flick, and more Bruce Willis than any starving viewer could stomach. In other words, 2021 did not fail the Razzies,” They said on their website.
‘The Last Boy Scout’ is not alone with the nomination as they continue, “Acting nominees include an otherwise great actress, Amy Adams (with nods for both Woman in the Window and Dear Evan Hansen); LeBron James, who most likely dunked his chances for basking in the cinema limelight by starring in Space Jam 2; And a Razzie Regular whose appearance in no less than EIGHT titles in 2021 bagged him a category all to himself (Worst Performance by Bruce Willis in a 2021 Movie).”
This is not the first time that the Razzies have nominated Bruce Willis for a Golden Raspberry. He was nominated for ‘Worst Actor’ in 1992 (‘Hudson Hawk’) which he won, 1995 (‘Color of Night,’ ‘North’), 1999 (‘Armageddon,’ ‘Mercury Rising,’ ‘The Siege’) which he also won. He also garnered a win in 2020 for Worst Supporting Actor for his role in ‘Glass.’

TV Series ‘The Horror of Dolores Roach’ Greenlit With Justina Machado Starring

‘One Day at a Time’ star Justina Machado is set to headline the recently greenlit horror television ‘The Horror of Dolores Roach.’ The show will be an Amazon Studios and Blumhouse Television co-production for an eight-episode first season.
Amazon Studios said in a press release, “Amazon Studios today announced that it has ordered the new series The Horror of Dolores Roach from Blumhouse Television, Spotify’s Gimlet, and GloNation Studios, with Justina Machado starring in the title role. The Horror of Dolores Roach will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.”
They continued, “The eight-episode, half-hour series—based on the hit Gimlet podcast series of the same name—is a contemporary Sweeney Todd-inspired tale of eat or be eaten; a macabre urban legend of love, betrayal, weed, gentrification, cannibalism, and survival of the fittest. Aaron Mark, who wrote and directed the original podcast, and Dara Resnik will serve as co-showrunners and executive produce the series, alongside Gloria Calderón Kellett and Roxann Dawson, who directed the pilot.”
Roxann Dawson will be familiar to Star Trek fans for portraying chief engineer B’Elanna Torres on the television series ‘Star Trek: Voyager’ and cult movie enthusiasts for her role as Angela Rooker in ‘Darkman III: Die Darkman Die.’
Mark expressed his excitement for the adaption of the original podcast saying, “After eight years living with the indomitable Dolores Roach in multiple forms, I could not be more thrilled to be bringing her to life on television with this powerhouse team.”
Amazon Studios describe the plot as follows:
“Dolores Roach is released from prison after 16 years and returns to a severely gentrified Washington Heights with $200 and the clothes on her back. Her boyfriend missing, her family long gone, Dolores reunites with an old stoner buddy, Luis, who gives her room and board and lets her give massages for cash in the basement under his dilapidated storefront, Empanada Loca, the only remnant of her former life. When the promise of her newfound stability is quickly threatened, “Magic Hands Dolores” is driven to shocking extremes to survive, and in the face of unexpected professional success, Dolores and Luis become dangerously symbiotic, and Luis must unleash his own peculiar predilections. ”
The series also stars Alejandro Hernandez, Kita Updike, and K. Todd Freeman

Sonic The Hedgehog Tried To Rob A Bank In Florida?!

0

I always had a feeling that deep down Sonic the Hedgehog was a Florida Man. He likes to go fast. He eats “hotted dogs” with chili. The dude hangs out with a bunch of rebels who are opposed to technological dominance. I’m also pretty sure his pal Knuckles once took cops on a high-speed pursuit through Lakeland only to get busted by our one and only Grady Judd.
It was no surprise when I learned today from The West Volusia Beacon’s Twitter account that the blue hedgehog was caught on camera trying to rob the Florida Credit Union in DeLand, Florida.

It appears that Sonic has fallen on hard times. It was probably a substance abuse issue. I would guess he’s addicted to speed. Luckily no one was hurt during the robbery, but Sonic is using a new weapon instead of his spin attack. He has not turned to hammers, according to The West Volusia Beacon.

“When officers arrived on-scene, contact was made with witnesses who stated that a subject (believed to be a male by their tone of voice) wearing a “sonic the hedgehog mask” entered the bank displaying a hammer and demanding money from the teller.  While demanding cash from the teller, the suspect then struck the teller’s window with the hammer as he continued with his demands.”

Sonic was unsuccessful in his quest for golden rings this time. The once-mighty icon of SEGA ran off without any loot but is still at large. So, where will he strike next? If you have any tips on Mr. Needlemouse’s whereabouts, don’t hesitate to get in touch with the DeLand Police Department.
What do you think could have driven Sonic to this sorry state (meaning both mentally and the State of Florida)? Is there anything we can do to help him? Leave your thoughts, opinions, and prayers in the comments section below.

Conker Has Another Statue On The Way, This One From YouTooz

All Conker wanted to do was go home after drinking. Instead, he got sucked into a bunch of wacky hijinks. Now he sits atop a throne he does not want and a pile of cash he’d gladly part with to have his Berri back.
Conker may have had a bad fur day, but his YouTooz figure looks to be having a good time. The cute but surly squirrel sits atop his throne with a noticeably empty glass. YouTooz’s take on Conker’s Bad Fur Day is a departure from the statue we saw last week from First 4 Figures.
The 4.8″ tall figure is listed at $29.99 with a ship date of June 10th through June 25th. Pre-orders are still available.

YouTooz
YouTooz

Conker’s figure sits at 4.8 inches tall, set on a luxurious red and oak brown throne. Conker sits in his blue lace up sneakers and a blue hoodie, holding a half-full glass. His bushy tail puffs out behind him and he grins, showing off his two front teeth. The interior and exterior of his double-walled window box has him sitting in front of the fire, prepared to tell his story. And what a tail it is. Oh, what a world, what a world! This collectible ships in a matte, embossed, protective outer sleeve and a custom sized plastic protector for maximum protection during shipping.

Why the hell hasn’t Microsoft used Conker for anything? Is the foul-mouthed critter too politically incorrect for the progressive company? Come to think of it, and if MS were to have Rare create a new Conker title, it would probably end up being very safe or way too full of boring talking points like a CW show.
What do you think of the sudden resurgence in Conker? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.

Godzilla comes to aid humankind in the fight against Hedorah, a microscopic alien life-form that is feeding on Earth’s pollution! This monstrous boxed set contains Godzilla, Hedorah in both Final and Flying Form, display bases, and replica buildings to create multiple display options!

The triple pack comes with enough accessories to create an entire diorama:

  • Four (4) replica buildings
  • Two (2) posion orbs
  • One (1) eye beam FX (attaches to Final Form Hedorah)
  • One (1) eyelid (attaches to Final Form Hedorah’s left eye)
  • One (1) posing post for Final Form Hedorah
  • Two (2) display bases

Godzilla VS The Smog Monster (the other name for the film) is one of my all-time favorite monster movies. This film was way more upfront with just how deadly Godzilla’s foe was. Hedorah is pretty terrifying, not so much that it is a giant monster, but the way it kills humans reminds me of The Blob, another favorite creature feature.
