Super7’s Second Wave of G.I. Joe ReAction Figures Brings Army Building

Super7 has announced the second wave of the G.I. Joe ReAction figure line. With this wave comes many general figures great for army building, if that’s your thing. Wave 2 will include familiar faces like Bazooka, Duke, Lady Jaye, Major Bludd, and Storm Shadow.
Then there are the cool figures like one of Gamemaster’s drones; this one is a clown-faced Cobra snow trooper. Other army-building figures include three types of Cobra Shocktroopers and a U.S.S. Flagg load of G.I. Joe sailors!
I’m not kidding. Super7 created nine different types of sailors. Each one has either a distinct facial feature or skin color. Each figure is $18, and these all should be shipping out later this month.

Super7
Super7

For the first time ever in toy form, as seen in the M.A.S.S. Device storyline! When Cobra needed to defend their relay star satellite against the G.I. Joe’s killer satellite sent to destroy it, Destro teleported in the space-ready Cobra Shocktroopers! These 3.75” articulated G.I. Joe ReAction Cobra Shocktrooper figures feature head-to-toe battle armor detail with three variants to choose from in multiple accent colors and different rifle styles. Your Cobra Commander figure isn’t going to do all the dirty work himself, so you’ll need to add at least a squad’s-worth of Cobra Shocktroopers if he’s going to have any hope of pulling off his evil plans!

Super7

The Armed Forces aren’t made up of just one branch of the service, and neither is G.I. Joe. They are joined by Navy-themed “Blueshirt” ReAction figures who are ready to join the fight! These 3.75” articulated G.I. Joe ReAction Blueshirts figures all have Navy style casual blue uniforms with white hats and either bearded, clean-shaven, or mustache facial detail, and include a rifle accessory, with each figure style also being available in pink, tan, or brown color variants. Whether it comes from land, sea, or air, your G.I. Joe collection will be prepared to repel Cobra attack if you add a boatload of G.I. Joe ReAction Blueshirts figures to your troops!

Within the past two weeks, G.I. Joe ReAction figures have been popping up at Target stores. The first wave was on around four pegs at the three stores I checked out. So, this could be good news going forward if people keep buying them up.
Let us know what you think about the ReAction Joes and Cobras in the comments section below.

The PS VR2 Hardware Gets An Official Page at Playstation.com

Sony has launched a page dedicated to the Playstation VR2. In January, Sony revealed the specifications for the upcoming sequel to the PS4’s VR headset. The site is polished in typical Sony fashion, but it feels somewhat light on showing off the hardware.
The new site breaks down the technical specs into a more consumer-friendly way. Rather than long lists of technical jargon, the site is written like a sales pamphlet or like a crowdfunding campaign that doesn’t have a prototype ready to show off.
A release date and pricing are still absent, though I’d be willing to bet these details will come out around May or during the Summer. However, considering the semiconductor shortage is still causing massive delays for all technology companies, don’t expect the PSVR2 to be in ready supply if it launches this year.

Sony

Experience breath-taking virtual reality environments in clear focus with 4K High Dynamic Range visuals and up to 120fps, as two 2000 x 2040 OLED displays deliver over four times the resolution generated by the original PlayStation VR headset.

Oddly, there are no videos of the system in action or the actual headset. We get more shots of the left and right hand controllers, though.

Sony
The bottom of the page ends with only one video. It is the trailer for Horizon VR: Call of the Mountain. I was expecting a showcase of upcoming games rather than seeing this title again.

I’d still like to know how many PS5s are in the hands of players and how many are still sitting in the garages of scalpers. Will the PSVR2 suffer the same fate? I can already see the Facebook Marketplace listings now. A PS5 digital and PSVR2 bundle for $2k.
What about the price point? The Oculus Quest 2 is a pretty decent headset, and the base model goes for $299. The Quest can also access several PC games via a wired or wireless connection. How can Sony price the PSVR2 to compete with this? The first PSVR didn’t have a very robust library of games, at least those exclusive to the Playstation. Are customers willing to roll those dice again and risk Sony putting little effort into supporting the accessory?

The Ghostbusters Are Coming Back In Retro Mego Form!

The Plasma Series may officially be gone from store shelves, but the Ghostbusters are springing right back into action with a new toyline. This time the Boys in Gray are ready to duke it out with pesky poltergeists as 8″ tall Mego action figures!
Mego Corporation has teamed up with Hasbro to produce four figures based on the original Ghostbusters from the legendary 1984 film. Ray, Egon, Venkman, and Winston are all accounted for. Each Ghostbuster comes with a proton pack, neutrona wand, ghost trap, and individually named jumpsuit. Ray will come with his ecto goggles, and one of the busters, probably Egon, will have the PKE meter.
The Ghostbusters will come together as a four-pack for $69.99 and can be pre-ordered from Hasbro Pulse. The expected shipping date is 11/01/2022.

We’ve crossed streams with Mego Corporation, creators of a classic action figure style featuring soft goods costume pieces, to bring these classic Ghostbusters characters into the fun, Mego style for the first time ever, with the same premium details Ghostbusters fans are looking to trap! Featuring detailed head sculpts for realistic likenesses and movie-inspired accessories, including 4 Proton Packs with Neutrona Wands, 4 Ghost Traps, a P.K.E. Meter, and even Ray Stantz’s iconic Ecto Goggles, this Hasbro Pulse x Mego Ghostbusters 4-pack is coming to save the world!

We’d previously covered that Topps was the new exclusive home for Mego figures. It looks like that isn’t true. Regardless, the Ghostbusters are a welcome addition to the long-running toy line. The additional detail to the packs and accessories was unexpected. Typically, Mego figures forgo details and such, but here even the ALICE pack is included on the proton pack.

Ming, Flash Gordon, & The Phantom Are Back In Super Powers Form

Boss Fight Studio is joining in on the latest resurgence of King Features characters in the action figure market. The company’s Power Stars line of toys will stand 5″ tall and have a lot of similarities to the ’80s DC Super Powers line from Kenner. In addition, each figure will have 7 points of articulation.
The first wave of this series will contain Flash Gordon, The Phantom, Ming the Merciless, and Prince Thun. That’s an interesting lineup, as I don’t think I’ve ever seen Thun as an action figure. Flash and the others are sporting their original comic book costumes. Yes, that does mean the Ghost Who Walks is wearing his striped undies.
Flash, Phantom, Ming, and Thun will be Due out in the fourth quarter of 2022. They can all be pre-ordered now through the Big Bad Toy Store.

Power Stars are the action figures you always wanted as a kid, ready to make all your heroic dreams come true! These brand new 5-inch retro-feel action figures feature seven points of articulation and all the nostalgia.
Featuring your favorite super heroes from King Features classic comics, collect them all to bring your favorite comics to life! The Phantom, the legendary Ghost Who Walks, includes two pistols which fit into his belt. Each figure is packaged on a blister card featuring brand new artwork inspired by your favorite comic characters.

I wonder why the DC Super Powers body type hasn’t been used more often for retro-styled figures. Those figures were always solid, both in presentation and how they looked while on display. The addition of the clip-on cape for Ming is excellent. I hope this line thrives and gets more companies on board with this style of retro toys.
If you don’t remember DC Super Powers, they had the same type of articulation. There were no elbow joints, but the legs had one at each knee. Luckily, the Power Stars toys don’t have an “action feature.”

Hellboy’s Golden Army Statue Is Large and In Charge

0

The big red bringer of destruction as he appeared in Hellboy II: The Golden Army is back thanks to Blitzway’s massive 1:4 scale statue. This work of art featuring Ron Pearlman as Hellboy measures 27.5″ tall and is made from polystone, PVC, metal, and fabric.
Coming in at $1,099.99, the level of detail should match the price, right? Yes, sir. I’ve collected a number of original and replica Hellboy props over the years. Based on the pictures below, it is apparent that the artists at Blitzway did a hell of a lot of research. Even the individual rounds for the Samaritan and Big Baby can be removed!
This statue can be pre-ordered right now over at the Big Bad Toy Store.
Hellboy will be ready to battle the supernatural in October of this year!

Blitzway’s R&D team faithfully recreated this special hero from the original movie. Hellboy is equipped with the Samaritan, the’Big Baby, a utility belt, and a coat that looks realistic, perfectly recreating the feel of the movie. The diorama base, made in the style of the movie Hellboy II: The Golden Army, implicitly captures the movie’s story.

Red comes with the following:

  • Alternate head sculpt
  • Fabric coat
  • Samaritan
    • 4 Bullets
  • Big Baby
    • 6 Bullets
  • Alternate hand
  • Cigar
  • Bracelet
  • Rosary
  • The Golden Army-themed base

I, personally, loved The Golden Army. It was the right balance of a large cast of characters, amazing practical effects, and storytelling. The level of detail shown on not only Hellboy himself but the Samaritan and Big Baby is impressive. I hope Abe Sapien gets the same sort of statue in the future.
What do you think of Red’s statue? Too much? Too late? Let us know your opinions in the comments section below.

Stadia Is Dead? Long Live Google Stream?

Insiders have leaked info regarding the future of Google’s video game streaming platform known as Stadia. Unfortunately, things are not looking up for the service, which was touted two years ago as the future of gaming. Business Insider has some exclusive info regarding the future of Stadia. Sadly, this is behind a paywall. Good thing I have a subscription to the website!
From what an “insider” BI, Stadia is being rebranded as Google Stream. This could signal Google’s attempt to become more of a supplier of streaming technology rather than its own standalone platform.
While Stadia, as a platform, may have been “deprioritized” within Google the technology has not. Google is allegedly still pushing forward with deals, according to the insider. For example, Bungie was in active talks to use the Stadia tech to run a Bungie-exclusive streaming service, but that may have fallen through due to Sony’s recent acquisition of the video game studio.
Google, however, is not confirming any of these potential leaks. It would not be the first time the tech giant dropped a project with a simple shrug of the shoulds. However, the company is pressing on like everything is business as usual.
Google still anticipates the Stadia to continue forward in 2022. Business Insider received a statement from the company’s spokesman Patrick Seybold explaining the plans for the current year, “We announced our intentions of helping publishers and partners deliver games directly to gamers last year, and have been working toward that.
In regards to competition and the future of the fledgling platform, the spokesperson explained, “While we won’t be commenting on any rumors or speculation regarding other industry partners, we are still focused on bringing great games to Stadia in 2022. With 200+ titles currently available, we expect to have another 100+ games added to the platform this year, and currently have 50 games available to claim in Stadia Pro.
Google Stadia launched in a laughable state. Customers were expected to pay over $100 for a controller and a Chromecast. Performance was not guaranteed, even if you had the fastest connection currently on the market. I got my version of Stadia free for being a YouTube Premium member. Yes, things got so desperate that Google was literally giving these things away last year.
I was willing to give the system a go. So we plugged it directly into our modem and launched Little Nightmares. Oh, that wasn’t good. The black and darker areas of the background looked so blocky that it felt like an FMV from a SegaCD game. Input lag was also noticeable but not nearly as bad as we experienced on XCloud.
Oddly, Stadia performed worse than my experience with OnLive in 2011 on a slower connection. I was able to play a majority of Space Marine on it without issue. What gives, Google?

Amazo Toys’ ‘United States Space Force’ Action Figures Have Landed

0

A few years ago, Amazo toys launched a Kickstarter campaign for the United States Space Force line of action figures. The original estimated delivery date was February 2021. Well, it’s now 2022, and the figure I ordered has finally arrived.
The campaign only broke a few funding barriers, guaranteeing pledges that we’d get at least three versions of the character: Space Force Blue, Space Force Red, and the Russian Space Agency. As you’d expect, Blue and Red referred to the two major political parties in the United States.
The base figures came with three heads. Blue had Barak Obama, generic trooper, and Uncle Sam. Red delivered Donald Trump, generic trooper, and Ghost of Ronal Reagan. Finally, the Russian Space Agency launched with Vladimir Putin, generic trooper, and Gregori Rasputin. Luckily funding goals were passed, which gave us some different heads.

Amazo Toys
Amazo Toys
Amazo Toys
For $25, pledges got to pick one of the three versions. I went with Red because having a Trump action figure was just too good to pass up. We saw a decent amount of updates throughout the past couple of years, and then the pandemic crippled production. This was the case with multiple crowdfunding items I backed. Amazo Toys kept us up to date as much as possible, but it was apparent things would get pushed back.
These types of things will often miss their estimated ship dates; that’s just a risk you have to expect with crowdfunding. So it’s not a big deal. However, after an additional year, I was expecting a better product.
Mike Phalin
Mike Phalin

Space Trump arrived in a very slim plastic canister. All of his interchangeable hands and weapons were rattling around in the case. The heads came in a separate clear plastic enclosure. The whole thing felt sloppy. Considering the heads were in a cylindrical container, you’d think it would fit in the same case as the figure. Nope.
Mike Phalin
The heads are great. The Space Monkey, Coco, isn’t, but the others get the job done. I wish Reagan’s head had a wash over it so you could see some of the facial details when he is attached to the body. I can fix that on my own, but come on.
The figures’ body is similar to what you’d find in a newer Star Wars Vintage Collection toy. You’re going to get about the same amount of articulation, 14 points, to be exact. There are two weapons: a laser pistol and a pulse rifle. Both guns are flat silver in color; no wash on these either.
The interchangeable hands vary from open hands, trigger hands, fists, and grabby hands. Each has a joint at the wrist, which brought its problems.
The silver chest piece is removable and is quite flexible. However, the flexibility means that it’s hard to keep the optional clear fishbowl helmet stationary. It’s molded to slot into the harness, but it does not work.
Mike Phalin

The biggest disappointment is the paint on the hands and body. Out of the box, the white paint near the figure’s joints had already started to chip, like it had been fully painted after assembly with a large brush. This was most noticeable on the hands. The joints at the wrist were covered with paint. So, the moment you rotate the wrist, large flakes of paint came off.
This could be solved by spraying these small parts with a dull clear coat, but I shouldn’t have to fix these things right out of the box. The paint application looked like it was done in a single coat with cheap acrylic rather than multiple thinner coats. The lack of a protective coat over the paint meant chips were just part of the issue. The white part of the spacesuit quickly picked up fingerprints.
As I stated earlier, this all feels sloppy even by Kickstarter standards. The novelty of having Trump and Reagan as action figures quickly wore off once I saw large flakes of paint in my hands while taking these pictures. Once you’ve attached your favorite head, I’d suggest putting the figure back in the packaging and displaying it that way to avoid additional wear.
This could have been a great little toy line, but the execution of the paint held it back. However, the body and joints feel durable and could hold many cool poses, primarily if you use the slot on the back with a figure stand. Maybe if the toy line makes it to mass production, these problems will be solved.

Funimation Announces ‘Girls’ Frontline’ English Dub

0

‘Girls’ Frontline’ is a mobile strategy RPG from MICA Team that follows the exploits of the Anti-Rain (AR) Team, a group of robotic “T-Dolls” that are made for combat. Its popularity led to an anime from the Japanese animation studio Asahi Production. Funimation announced that they had acquired the rights to produce an English dub of the series.
“The English dub of Girls’ Frontline is locked, loaded and ready for action, so it’s time for the operation to commence,” Funimation said on their website. “Leading the charge is Michelle Rojas (Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation) as M16A1, Amber Lee Connors (Combatants Will Be Dispatched!) as M4A1, Dani Chambers (SHADOWS HOUSE) as M4 SOPMOD II, and Alexis Tipton (Mieruko-chan) as ST AR-15, who’ll be flanked by a whole armory of cast members.”
The cast also includes Katelyn Barr, Elizabeth Maxwell, Sara Ragsdale, Kate Rose, AmaLee, Bryn Apprill, and Jad Saxton.
You can watch the trailer below:

Wikipedia describes the plot as follows:
“The game is set in a war-torn future where tactical dolls, more commonly known as T-Dolls, are almost exclusively used for combat in place of humans, some having been repurposed from their previous life as civilian androids. The majority of the world is uninhabitable due to contamination from the Collapse Fluid, and much of humankind is dead. In 2062, the artificial intelligence of Sangvis Ferri (SF) spontaneously rebels against humanity, with their T-Dolls and robots killing their human masters and taking over nearby areas. In response, the private military company (PMC) Griffin & Kryuger (G&K) is hired to contain and eliminate Sangvis Ferri forces; the player assumes the role of a recently promoted G&K Commander.”
Morgan Lauré serves as the ADR Director with Jason Lord serving as assistant director.
In Japan, the show is known as ‘Dolls’ Frontline’ due to copyright reasons.
