‘Dr. Stone’ Manga Is Coming To An End

0

Fans of the adventure manga ‘Dr. Stone’ got some sobering news with the announcement that publisher Shonen Jump was bringing the series to an end with chapter 232.
“Sometimes it’s sad to say goodbye, but for souls like Senku, it’s just another step into something greater. The official English Shonen Jump Twitter account announced today that the final chapter of Riichiro Inagaki and Boichi’s popular science manga Dr. STONE ended today with the final chapter already available to read,” Crunchyroll reported on their website.
Currently, Jump Comics has published twenty-five volumes of the sci-fi adventure. It was also simultaneously published on the website Manga Plus starting in 2019.
You can find the tweet here:

Viz Media currently holds the North American rights for publication of the ‘Dr. Stone’ manga. The first twenty-one volumes are available in the United States.
MyAnimeList describes the synopsis as follows:
“After five years of harboring unspoken feelings, high-schooler Taiju Ooki is finally ready to confess his love to Yuzuriha Ogawa. Just when Taiju begins his confession however, a blinding green light strikes the Earth and petrifies mankind around the world—turning every single human into stone.
Several millennia later, Taiju awakens to find the modern world completely nonexistent, as nature has flourished in the years humanity stood still. Among a stone world of statues, Taiju encounters one other living human: his science-loving friend Senkuu, who has been active for a few months. Taiju learns that Senkuu has developed a grand scheme—to launch the complete revival of civilization with science. Taiju’s brawn and Senkuu’s brains combine to forge a formidable partnership, and they soon uncover a method to revive those petrified.
However, Senkuu’s master plan is threatened when his ideologies are challenged by those who awaken. All the while, the reason for mankind’s petrification remains unknown.”
The anime adaption was produced by TMS Entertainment.

0

‘My Roomie Is a Dino’ is a slice-of-life comedy manga written by Moriko Mori and illustrated by Cota Tomimura. It is published by Kodansha, who also handled publication in North America. Its popularity led to an anime adaption titled ‘Gal and Dino’ produced by the Japanese animation studios Space Neko Company and Kamikaze Douga. The show was written and directed by Jun Aoki which ran for 12 episodes in 2020. Now, Funimation has announced that they have gained the license to produce an English audio version. With the recent merger with Crunchyroll, it is likely the anime will migrate there.
“The dino-mic duo is back! We’re pleased to announce that all 12 episodes of absurd comedy anime Gal & Dino‘s English dub will be launching on Funimation,” they said on their website. “Moving in with us is Macy Anne Johnson (Show by Rock!! Stars!!) as Kaede, Anairis Quiñones (WONDER EGG PRIORITY) as Yamada and Yuri Lowenthal (Code Geass) as Shouta and Shouta Aoi…”
The rest of the cast includes Wayne Grayson (Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters) as the narrator, Jonathan Fahn (Battle Athletes Victory) as Kazetani, Doug Stone (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin) as Mieharu, and Andra Bruce as the Landlady.
Andy Roth will serve as the voice director for the series.

MyAnimeList lists the synopsis as follows,
“Wasted from the night before, Kaede wakes up the next morning to find herself at home with a dinosaur she had brought along with her. The two start living together as an odd pair consisting of a typical gal girl and a mute dinosaur going about daily lives. Although not the most experienced paleontologist, Kaede begins to learn more about her new prehistoric roommate through a series of comedic gags and adventures.”
‘Gal & Dino’ also had a live-action adaption in 2020 that was written by Kotaro Sudo and starring Nana Yashiro as Kaede. It had three episodes that aired on Tokyo MX.

Hello, You! It’s An Interview With Fact Hunt’s Larry Bundy, Jr. and Kneon!

In our ongoing interview series with YouTubers, we’ve invited gaming researcher and all-around legend Larry Bundy, Jr. This time around, Kneon joined me on this interview to make it more interesting. Check out the video as we go off the rails on totally unrelated topics!

Aside from Larry’s YouTube channel, he also has a Pixel Empire store. If you’re interested in getting Larry’s videos in coffee table book form, you’re in luck! Fact Hunt: Fascinating, Funny and Downright Bizarre Facts About Video Games is available in hardcover and Kindle form over at Amazon.

Larry Bundy, Jr.

A bumper collection of facts about video games from YouTuber extraordinaire, Larry Bundy Jr, this book will debunk myths and urban legends, delve into developers’ biggest successes and failures, explore the odd characters behind the games and unearth the obscure, the forgotten, the cancelled and the abandoned aspects of the gaming world. For the past decade, Larry has painstakingly trawled through countless old magazines, routinely harassed developers, and blackmailed journalists to uncover these amazing tidbits and anecdotes that would have fallen by the wayside of history. Now he has compiled them into a fun, full-colour book with sections on botched game launches, pointless peripherals, unreleased video game movies, weird guest fighters and much, much more. Along the way, he has invited a few famous gaming guests, including Stuart Ashen and Did You Know Gaming?, to provide their favourite quips for your personal perusal. So whatever your level of knowledge about video games, you’re guaranteed to learn a ton of entertaining new information.

Larry’s latest video as of this interview is about a Sonic game that was recalled only 24 hours after it hit the streets.

By far, Larry’s most interesting research video is regarding the Driv3r scandal. DriverGate involved the dirty deeds of not only the developer and publisher of the game but games journalists, too. I’m sure you’re as shocked as I am.

Own The Thundercats’ Sword Of Omens, Gain Sight Beyond Sight!

Over the years, I’ve seen many replicas of the Sword of Omens. The magical weapon from the 1980s Thundercats cartoon is an iconic sword, easily identifiable and pathetically pleasing. All those replicas I’ve spotted? Cheap unlicensed knockoffs.
Every flea market has a stall with at least two or three different versions of the sword for sale. Some come with a light-up Eye of Thundera. Some share just the basic shape of the blade in hopes of avoiding any potential lawsuit. Either way, none of these were officially licensed replicas.
Factory Entertainment makes it clear that what it is selling is both licensed and not a toy. It may not have any fancy LED lights or extending blade features, but the blade is stainless steel and features a full-tang. The hilt is cast metal with lots of imitations, gemstones, and acrylic inserts to capture the look of the fully extended sword seen in the cartoon.
The replicas are numbered and include a Thundercats logo wall mount and a certificate of authenticity booklet. You’ll get all this for $599.99. Expect the sword to ship sometime in the Fall of 2022.
If the price tag is a bit much, you can always pick up a scaled replica of the Sword of Omens from the same company.

It requires a fair degree of artistic interpretation, working hand in hand with the licensor, to take 2D drawings created for animation or toy sculpts, both of which were intended for a less detailed execution, and realize them as fully developed and full-sized real-world items.
One such artistic judgment involves determining the size of a 1:1 scale replica for an animated character. The wielder of the Sword Of Omens, Lion-O, has no official height, so the replica, which measures 41 inches (104 cm) in length, has been scaled to the proportions of an adult human standing 6.2” (1.9m) tall.

Are you ready to drop $599.99 on this replica? Or will you be heading out to the local flea market to pick up one of the various unlicensed swords bearing an uncanny resemblance to the Sword of Omens? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments section.

‘The Woman Called Fujiko Mine’ Dub Announced For HiDive Streaming Service

0

HiDive had previously announced that they had acquired the streaming rights to the gentlemen thief anime Lupin the III and his numerous spin-offs including ‘The Woman Called Fujiko Mine.’ HiDive now made the announcement that they would compliment the spin-off by adding the English dubbed version on their platform on March 8, 2022.
“She’s the one person who could give Lupin III a run for his money (and has several times). Her name is Fujiko Mine and she stars in her very own spin-off series courtesy of director Sayo Yamamoto (Michiko & Hatchin) and writer Mari Okada (O Maidens in Your Savage Season),” they said.
The dub cast includes Michelle Ruff (The Promised Neverland), Sonny Strait (Cased Closed), Christopher Sabat (Dragon Ball Z), Mike McFarland (Rebuild of Evangelion), Richard Epcar (Bleach), Josh Grelle (Initial D), Bill Jenkins (Joker Game), Kent Williams (Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood), Jerry Russell (Wolf Children), and Stephanie Sheh (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya).
You can watch the trailer for the series here:

HiDive describes the synopsis as follows,
“She’s a thief. A killer. A saint and a scandal. She’s whatever you need her to be to get the job done. She’s walking seduction, with an insatiable itch for the priceless and a fetish for mischief. She takes your breath away to get what she wants. She takes everything else just because she can. It’s all in a night’s work for the woman called Fujiko Mine. She’s the slinky, sultry thread that holds Lupin III’s crew together — and this is the heist that started it all.”
‘The Woman Called Fujiko Mine’ is produced by Naoki Iwasa, Toshio Nakatani, and Yu Kiyozono for Japanese animation production company TMS Entertainment. Naruyoshi Kikuchi composed the music for the anime with Shinichirō Watanabe serving as the music producer. It ran for thirteen episodes between April 4, 2012, and June 27, 2012.

‘Legends of Tomorrow’ Showrunner Celebrates Arrival Of Booster Gold

The time-traveling fame-obsessed superhero Booster Gold has arrived in the CW show ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ played by ‘The Exes’ and ‘Scrubs’ star Donald Faison. While Faison had been introduced prior to the ending of the show, his identity was kept a secret until recently, revealing his persona at the end of the seventh season.
Showrunner Phil Klemmer spoke with DC Universe about the character’s arrival in the “Arrowverse.”
“None of us were expecting it to happen,” he said. “I credit DC Creative Director Kim Roberto. I don’t know who she strong-armed, bribed, cajoled or charmed in order to get the green light on this. It was beyond our wildest dreams. We wanted to bring out a new character, we wanted to thrill our DC fans, but this was like order of magnitudes beyond what we thought was possible. And then to couple that with the exciting casting news of Donald Faison, it almost makes me want to blush. I’m sure we don’t deserve this, but we’ll happily take it.”
Speaking about Faison taking over the role, he said, “He’s hilarious, he’s a gifted actor, and to find out that he geeks out on the same stuff that our fans do. I’m a believer that the spirit in which people do something, whatever the thing is, just infuses it. He’s on the screen for something, like, seven or eight minutes maybe in the finale, but for every one of those moments, that guy’s not just working, that guy is having a blast. It raises everybody’s level when somebody comes in and they love the material, and they raise the material. I can’t wait to start writing him, because I feel like we barely got to know this guy.”
Possible spoilers, here is a clip where Booster Gold first appears in the series:

Booster Gold was created by comic book writer Dan Jurgens in 1986 when he made his first appearance in a self-titled comic book series. He would go on to become a staple of the Justice League and became a recurring character in the animated show ‘Justice League Unlimited.’

New 1/6th Scale Ecto-1 From ‘Ghostbusters Afterlife’ Is On The Way!

Do you need a 1/6th scale Ecto-1 for your 12″ tall Ghostbusters figures? You’re in luck because Blitzway currently has the Ghostbusters Afterlife version of the iconic Cadillac up for pre-order at the Big Bad Toy Store.
Afterlife‘s Ecto-1 is $1,899.99. The vehicle comes in at 40″ long and has a number of features that offset that hefty price tag. The Ectomobile has 37 LEDs, including exterior and interior lighting. The lightbars at the front and back of the Caddy’s roof are motorized. Ecto-1 also comes with sound effects, both the typical siren and customized audio via a micro-SD card.
There are some noticeable differences between this version of the toy and the one we saw a few years ago.
In 2019, Blitzway released the 1984 version of the Ghostbusters’ vehicle. The original asking price was $1,390. This Ecto-1 came with four proton packs and a gurney. The lights and sounds appear to be very similar to what’s on offer with this new toy.
Although no proton packs are packed with this version, the gunner seat does deploy, as does the RTV (ghost trap).
