Mattel To Resurrect The Massive And Elusive Eternia Playset

Mattel made it clear that the Masters of the Universe toylines are here to stay for the time being. For a little while, we were concerned that both the Origins and Masterverse figures were on the chopping block. The pandemic didn’t help get the figures on toy shelves, and the Netflix series turned people off from the pricier figure collection. However, at SDCC, there was a significant piece of MotU history on display, and it wasn’t just a well-preserved piece of He-Man’s past.

The Eternia playset, a brand new version, was on the show floor for everyone to see. Oh, it’s massive. The original Eternia playset was, too, but it had several design flaws. The tracks were quite fragile, and both kids who owned the expensive toy had broken the tracks within the first few days of play. This thing wasn’t sturdy like the Ghostbusters’ Firehouse or the USS Flagg.

What Mattel had on display looks like it captures the original design and intent of the playset, but with some revisions. Now, the prototype shown at SDCC was behind glass, and none of the parts were in motion, but I’d bet money that the shuttles will be battery operated and each “territory” will have lights and sounds. Or the toy company could cheap out and not include anything cool. You never know these days. With several decades and changes in how customers can easily voice frustrations, Mattel will hopefully fix that.

Mattel was also showing off a bunch of new figures surrounding Eternia. These included Snake Men, new versions of He-Man, Skeletor, and 200X-inspired characters. The Origins line looks far from dead, and I’m happy to be proven wrong. Eternia was on the Mattel Creations page a few days ago but has since disappeared.

Stadia To Be Shut Down By Google At Summer’s End?

To no one’s surprise, rumors that Google intends to shut down its video game streaming service Stadia have once again risen. However, this time the news supposedly comes from an insider on the Stadia team. Killed By Google’s Twitter account posted a message from an alleged (possibly former) Google employee regarding what he/she was told about a recent employee/retail seminar. If legit, it would appear that Google will sunset the Stadia service at the end of Summer. According to Game Informer, this comes after reports that the tech giant had deprioritized the system back in February.

If the images of the text do not load, here’s what it said:

Just a heads up:

Old coworker and friend of mine, Is now one of the regional

managers for Google. He’s actually the one who got me

started with Stadia. They had a pretty large employee/retail

seminar in California this past weekend, and long story

short Google is beginning their exit plan. They did not have

an exact date that end of service will happen, but they did

say by the end of summer. He also mentioned that they will

not be transferring their services or servers to any other

competition per se, and it will be much like they did with

“Google Play Music”

Same exit approach and strategy

I’m obviously not as big as a fan as some of you, but you

guys have always been super cool and helpful so | thought

I’d return the favor and give you a heads up.

There were a few other details | could post if you would like

but nothing too groundbreaking. | do believe he also

mentioned that all members would be informed 30-60

days before, and that the last month of service will be

refunded and no charge for it’s usage.

Also, any available subscription months will be a refunded

fully to your linked bank account.

| will speak to him tonight and ask any questions you may

have.

Thanks again guys.

Blessings.

Do you think Stadia is doomed like so many other Goole projects? Let us know below.

The Tiny Toons Reboot Will Ship No More

0

Near the end of the San Diego Comic-Con, there was a panel discussing the latest announcements on animated shows and specials coming to HBO Max. One of them was the reboot show called Tiny Toons Looniversity. Aside from having different voice actors replacing the original ones from the 90s series, one major change was having the two leads be siblings. This is a bit of a questionable decision given what the Tiny Toon Adventures series established between the two characters.

In every episode there was a running gag where every time Babs Bunny and Buster Bunny would introduce themselves, they would follow it up by saying “no relation”. Same last name, not related. There was flirting, dating, and kissing. The kind of things unrelated high schoolers tend to do.

During the SDCC panel, a rep from WB mentioned “Buster’s twin sister Babs”. Fans on twitter wanted to be sure if this was a literal purposeful statement or not. Staff artist Len Kiraly Lee confirmed this was definitely what the rep said.

https://twitter.com/Lentendo/status/1551132205774098432

He also responded to another question concerning whether this was a continuation or a reboot:

https://twitter.com/Lentendo/status/1551021822497304576

Len Kiraly Lee also shared artwork he did for the show (besides the top picture above):

https://twitter.com/Lentendo/status/1551339414428590080

As you can imagine, fans of the 90s series are not thrilled with this drastic change. Many are noting that it is a bit confusing considering what happened in the Tiny Toon Adventures.

Twitter user @WakkoKing speculated who was possibly behind this change:

The Tiny Toon Adventures creator Tom Ruegger has no part in the creation of this reboot series. Ruegger responded to a post on Facebook his own thoughts on this change in a simple and direct response as saying “Ummm…ew?”

Tiny Toon Adventures aired between 1990-1995, amassing an impressive 98 episodes. Because of how successful it was, the show paved way for the creation of shows such as Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain. Tiny Toon Adventures is about the younger descendants of the Looney Tunes characters in their high school years. Looniversity is set during college years. Two seasons have been ordered for Looniversity to air on HBO Max.

Steven Spielberg returns as producer and he is apparently very excited about this series:

There was a Change.org petition made to call for keeping Babs and Buster not related. Click here to view the petition: Keep Babs and Busters Non-related

Is this another “universe”? How will they explain away the drastic change?

Celebrate 40 Years of E.T. With Three New Figures From NECA!

Nothing makes ya feel older than when the 40th anniversary comes around for something, and you realize you are older than that thing. That thing being Steven Spielberg’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Today we learned that NECA will release three new figures based on the adorable alien that stole America’s heart in 1982.

The three E.T. figures are based on key scenes from the movie. These will include the Ultimate E.T., Ultimate Dressup E.T., and Deluxe Ultimate E.T. with LED Chest. OK, the names aren’t catchy, but they get the point across. Each E.T. will come with different accessories, and the Deluxe version of the alien has a light-up chest and finger.

These three should be in stores this October.

E.T. is an Asogian botinaist. He was accidentally stranded on Earth when his fellow crewmates were forced to flee due to being discovered by the Government. The abandoned alien wanders the forest near San Fernando Valley until he meets a young boy named Elliot. The pair establish a mental link that affects their moods and senses and their health. Eventually, E.T. is located by the government agents, leaving Elliot and his friends/family with no other choice but to rescue the creature and get him back to his ship’s landing site.

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial premiered in theatres on June 11th, 1982, in the U.S. It was up against John Carpenter’s The Thing. Guess who won that battle at the box office? It sure as hell wasn’t Mac and the crew of Outpost 31. E.T. was such a success that it raked in 79 times its budget at the box office and became a classic, spawning a ride at Universal Studios in Hollywood and Orlando.
What do you think of the E.T. trio? Which one will you pick up? Let us know in the comments section below.

It is now in Natsume’s possession, along with its power to call upon the written names of the youkai Reiko had defeated.
With no interest in its powers, Natsume decides to keep the book for the sake of his grandmother’s memories and to protect it from scheming youkai. While en route, Alvin is confronted by a magical bear and immediately finds himself in a pinch.
