Sin City’s Marv and Nancy Join Mezco’s 5 Points Figure Line

Iconic characters from Frank Miller’s Sin City join Mezco’s 5 Point action figure line. These premium figures feature five points of articulation, interchangeable parts, and a premium price tag. The first three figures include Nancy, Marv, and Marv in the electric chair.

First, let’s look at why you clicked on this article in the first place: Nancy. Yes, like in Frank Miller’s gritty comics, Nancy is topless. There’s no Jessica Alba “No Nudity” clause here to keep the figure from resembling her illustrated counterpart. Nancy comes with interchangeable heads and arms. Her leg articulation looks to be limited to swiveling at her quads. Don’t expect to get any dynamic poses out of her beyond what the artists at Mezco envisioned.

The 3.75″ tall Nancy will retail at $60 and is expected to ship between August and September. The Hard Goodbye Collector’s Capsule will include the figure and a hand silkscreened art print poster.

Marv is a hard bastard. He can take a beating and bullets while still laying the smack down on serial killers and crooked cops. Sadly, even for all his heroics, Marv met his end on death row, but not before showing the executioner just how tough he was.
The 5 Point Death Row Marv figure is pretty simple. It’s Marv in the electric chair. Like all the other versions of this figure, he comes with lights and sounds. This is great if you missed out on the two versions that came out in the 2000s.
Marv is on the same scale as all the others and is limited to only 1,000 pieces. He, like Nancy, comes with a hand silk-screened art print made with glow-in-the-dark ink. The figure is also priced at $60.

Before Marv got himself fried on the taxpayers’ dime, he was roaring through the city trying to figure out who murdered the one woman who showed him kindness. Little did Marv know that he would uncover a plot involving the church and a sadistic serial killer cannibal.
Marv, in his iconic trenchcoat and bandaged face, is the final figure in The Hard Goodbye Collector’s Capsule set. He, too, comes with the silk-screen art print. Marv’s only accessory is an interchangeable arm holding a gun. It’s simple, just like the man himself. Marv is $60, just like the other two.

MyAnimeList describes the synopsis as follows,
“One day, college student Yuuhi Amamiya is approached by talking lizard Sir Noi Crezant. Crezant immediately launches into a fantastical story: the powerful mage Animus intends to destroy the earth with his biscuit hammer, a huge contraption looming high in earth’s orbit. Earth’s only hope lies with the princess and her Beast Knights, whose task is to protect the princess and defeat Animus.
Yuuhi is chosen as the Lizard Beast Knight, and despite his misgivings, is quickly forced to defend himself from a golem created by the mage. He is saved by his neighbor, the princess Asahina Samidare, and swears loyalty to her. However, the princess does not intend to save the earth at all. She lets Yuuhi in on her real motivations: to prevent Animus from destroying the earth, only to then annihilate the planet by her own hand. The pair continue to fight off attacks by Animus’s golems while the remaining Beast Knights are slowly being gathered and learning to use their powers. But Yuuhi will have to decide for himself whether to go along with Asahina’s plans, whom he is getting close to, or to save the earth. In the process, he must also confront his true self, and determine where his loyalties truly lie.”
The music for the anime is produced by Takatsugu Wakabayashi.

Beware The D&D Gelatinous Cube From Hasbro

Hasbro is kicking off the Dungeons & Dragons Honor Among Thieves toyline with the dreaded Gelatinous Cube. The movie by the same name isn’t due out until next year, but the toymaker is betting that it will be popular enough to sustain a 6″ scale toyline.

Although the Cube probably won’t be the first toy released to correspond with the movie, it gives us a good look at what the quality of the merchandise could be like. The 6″ figures, based on a video below, look to be close in articulation and detail to Hasbro’s other figures in that same scale, like G.I. Joe and the Plasma Series Ghostbusters.
The Cube can be pre-ordered for $33.99 right now and will ship in March 2023. The translucent recreation of the horrifying square that can dissolve organic matter is hollow in the middle, allowing you to position an action figure to look like it is suspended within the creature’s jelly belly.

Along with a figure stand, the Cube also comes with 14 pieces of debris, including weapons, shields, books, and limbs, of course!

Watch out, it’s a Gelatinous Cube! This 6-inch-scale collectible is compatible with D&D 6-Inch figures that can be posed out inside with the “invisible” stand. It includes 14 snap-in accessories to add to the scene. This cubic collector figure will probably look cool in your display, looking menacingly over your other Golden Archive figures.

Pixel Dan spotted the Cube at the Hasbro D&D booth at SDCC this week. Check out his hands-on impression of the legendary creature below:

D&D: Honor Among Thieves will be in theatres in March 2023 from Paramount Pictures. Check out the trailer here:

Chose Your Destiny: PCS Is Releasing a Mortal Kombat Jade Statue!

PCS is swooping in with a flawless victory! The statue maker has just announced its latest work of art, and it’s one of Outworld’s beauties. The heroic warrior Jade from Midway’s Mortal Kombat series is here in all her green glory.
Jade is sporting an outfit similar to her classic digs from earlier games; Jade is brandishing her bo staff and Shao Kahn’s Bane. She stands 30″ tall upon a base of caustic green liquid and skeletal remains. Unfortunately, the statue is limited to only 400 pieces and retails for $1,150. She is expected to enter our realm in June 2023.

Jade holds the Imperial Jubilee bo staff in her right hand, and her left clutches the razor-rang known as Shao Kahn’s Bane. The Jade Statue is fully sculpted with detailed costume textures and an athletic physique. She wears a green and black bodysuit with matching gloves and thigh-high boots, accented with sculpted mesh, lacing, and rivets. Jade’s masked portrait features black hair drawn into a bun, a pair of black earrings, and an intense expression.

Jade made her first appearance in the controversial arcade game when its second installment was released in 1993. She was first played by martial artist Katalin Rodriguez-Ogren, who provided the moves for Kitana and Mileena. The character has remained somewhat the same throughout the years, but with different outfits.

Recently, Jade has been toned down as far as her feminity goes. Gone are the days of the sexy and revealing outfits for the female fighters, but the men still bare a lot of skin. Her latest incarnation in MK 11 has her covered from head to toe. Ugh. Bring back the original version, please!
What are your thoughts on Jade’s statue? Worth the price tag, or are you holding out for a different female warrior from Outworld? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
