Derek Kolstad’s script for an adaptation of SEGA’s Streets of Rage is now officially in the hands of Lionsgate. According to Deadline, the man behind the John Wick franchise will also act as a producer for the project. d2j Entertainment, the production company behind the two Sonic films and several other upcoming video game adaptations, is still on board, too.
According to Collider, the word of Kolstad’s Streets of Rage project first surfaced in April of this year. Which sequel or version of the game he is turning into a script isn’t known yet. Will we see Roo the Kangaroo? Probably not until a post-credit scene, I bet. We probably won’t see the flamboyant Ash either, sadly. If the main cast boils down to Skate, Blaze, and Axel, that would be fine by me, but which SoR should be told?
The original trilogy (’91-’94) of Streets of Rage games had a straightforward story peppered with memorable heroes and villains. Ex-cops fight against a crime syndicate. Nothing mindblowing, but it hits all the right notes that several action films followed in the 1980s. But even such simple premises can go very wrong, as we saw in James Yukich’s 1994 Double Dragon movie.
If Kolstad wants to see SoR turn into a franchise like John Wick, then we’ll probably be following the first three games from the Genesis days. They follow a lot of the action movie tropes and are cohesive enough to form a three-movie arc. Even though the first game’s plot is pretty simple, the over-the-top action and characters would more than make up for it. Of course, the critical thing is finding the right person to play Mr. X. d2j would need to cast someone physically intimidating, but who would fit the bill? Let us know your thoughts below.
Tonight Show legend and classic car enthusiast Jay Leno was burned by one of his classic cars last week. Leno was working on a 113-year-old steam-powered car when he was sprayed with fuel, which ignited. According to CBS News, the incident happened at Leno’s Burbank garage, leaving him with “deep” second-degree burns on his face, hands, and chest.
Yesterday Leno’s physician, Dr. Peter Grossman, gave a press conference updating us on his condition. The comedian has multiple surgeries ahead, including skin grafts, “He has undergone one surgery so far; he did well with that surgery, he is in good spirits today.” Leno made a statement and is optimistic he’ll be up and about soon enough, “Just need a week or two to get back on my feet.” Leno’s resilience and good nature were apparent because he passed out cookies to the children also under the care of the Grossman Burn Center.
The gasoline responsible for the accident is used to heat the water in his 1909 White Model M steam-powered car. This vehicle was featured on an episode of Jay Leno’s Garage earlier this year. The Model M is a vehicle that takes a lot of prep before it can be driven. This includes managing multiple fuel sources, tanks, and heating elements.
A pilot light is located under the carriage and needs to be preheated. The preheating procedure requires a butane torch to start the pilot flame. This is where Leno was working when the incident happened.
The large Model M may be one of the most dangerous vehicles in Leno’s collection. I’ve watched the video of him prepping and driving the machine. From an engineering standpoint, this sort of alternative fuel vehicle is impressive, but having to directly start the pilot while under the car is a total no-go for me.

Based on the 1980s action thriller manga from author Tsukasa Hojo and publisher Jump Comics, ‘Cat’s Eye’ received an anime adaption from the animation studio Tokyo Movie Shinsha which ran for thirty-six episodes between 1983 and 1984.
A second season would be launched in 1984 that ran for thirty-six episodes directed by Kenji Kodama. Discotek Media has announced that they will release this portion of the series on Blu-Ray in the original Japanese audio with English subtitles.
Planned for a release on November 29th, 2022, Discotek explained on their social media that it is available for pre-order on the Right Stuf Anime store.
“Hitomi Kisugi, along with her older sister Rui and her younger sister Ai, run a café called “Cat’s Eye” in Tokyo. The sisters lead a double life as a trio of highly skilled art thieves, stealing works of art which primarily belonged to their long-missing father, Michael Heinz, who was a famous art collector during the Nazi regime. Hitomi’s fiancé is Toshio Utsumi, a clumsy young police officer who is investigating the Cat’s Eye case. Despite being a frequent visitor to the café he is unaware of the double life of the girls. Hitomi regularly informs the police in advance about her next job using a signature “Cat’s Eye” calling card, and then uses Toshio’s research about the security surrounding the target to help plan the job.
At the end of the series, Heinz leaves a note for his daughters stating that he cannot reveal himself yet because the mafia may kill him, but he may appear in five years’ time. However, the “Heinz” turns out to be the sisters’ treacherous uncle Cranaff, who betrayed Michael years earlier. After losing a final bet to Cat’s Eye, Cranaff decides to atone for his sin by setting fire to the museum, killing himself. Hitomi eventually admits to Toshio that she is part of Cat’s Eye and flees before he can arrest her. Toshio vows to track her down, attempting to “arrest” Hitomi at the airport with a wedding ring. He resigns from the police force and travels to America to find Hitomi, but finds that she has lost her memory due to viral meningitis. Toshio spends time with her until her memories come back, and the two rekindle their relationship.”
‘Cat’s Eye’ would get a live-action adaption in 1993 directed by Kaizo Hayashi and produced by Fuji Television and Toho.
Andrew Garfield was tapped by Sony Pictures to portray the friendly-neighborhood Spider-Man for a planned film universe with 2012’s ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ and its 2014 sequel. Following poor reviews and a dismal box office performance, the sequel ended his career as the web-slinger. That is until he appeared in the 2021 movie ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ alongside fellow Spidey actors Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland.
In an interview with GQ, Garfield opens up about his time as Peter Parker and how the canceled third film in his series affected him.
“I don’t know if I had an expectation of doing more,” he said. “I was very open to it being whatever it was meant to be. But there was an undone feeling. Like, What was that experience about? And how do I close that circle in my living room on my own? And I was doing that – and then it was like that classic thing, when you’re getting over a relationship, and you’re first starting to really feel free and untethered from that thing – the person knows to call the hour after the first good night’s sleep you’ve had.”
Garfield continued, “But doing [No Way Home] was really just kind of beautiful. I got to treat it like a short film about Spider-Man with buddies. The pressure was off of me. It was all on Tom’s shoulders. Like, it’s his trilogy. And me and Tobey were there to provide support and have as good a time as possible, actually, and be as inventive, imaginative, and kind of dumb as possible. Y’know, between the three of us, I was like, Oh shit, this is going to be interesting. You have three people who feel real ownership over this character. But it was really, like, brotherhood first, I think. And I think that comes through in what we shot.”
Following the success of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ fans took to social media to ask for Garfield to return for a third movie which he has stated he would be interested in.
Crimson Rhen, a young adult graphic novel, has raised over $100,000 in combined pre-orders via crowdfunding sites Kickstarter and IndieGoGo.
Crimson Rhen of the True North is the first of an all-new two book adventure series. This full color comic is created and written by Kambrea and Thomas Pratt (Disney Comics) with Jose Garcia (Dreamworks TV, Netflix, Nick, Cartoon Network) providing the manga inspired, animation-style artwork.
After an attempt to publish through mainstream publishers resulted in closed doors, Crimson Rhen is finally setting sail thanks to options available to independent authors and comic book creators in 2022.
“When we first pitched Crimson Rhen in 2012, crowdfunding was still fairly new and the only way you got a book like this out there was to publish through a traditional publisher like Scholastic Graphix or First Second Books,” publisher and co-writer Thom Pratt said. “You only crowdfunded a book if there were no other options. In 2022, crowdfunding is often the first choice for creators, with publishers taking note of the interest in an indie project before deciding to get involved. It’s leveled the playing field in favor of creatives. There are no more gatekeepers.”
Crimson Rhen is described as “The Goonies on an airship.” It’s a classic adventure story about a group of kids in the fantasy world of Belatyr striking out to find a lost treasure while fending off air pirates. Rhen is a brash young mage whose temper and lack of control sends the kids on their quest. While described as a young adult title, the book is designed for adventurers of all ages. It’s a prequel to the Pratts’ popular webcomic Shadowbinders, which they also plan to continue in print.
Crimson Rhen is now available for pre-order on Kickstarter at CrimsonRhen.com and also on IndieGoGo via InDemand through November 18, 2022. It’s scheduled to ship in Spring of 2023. The hardcover graphic novel is over 130 pages of full-color art and costs $40 (shipping included) in the U.S.
Sample pages can be viewed below (art by Jose Garcia.)

Mattel Adventure Parkis still a ways off from opening in Glendale, Arizona, but today’s IAAPA Expo gave us a tease of what’s to come for Masters of the Universe fans. Our friends at Thrill Geek were at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions event. They posted a video showing off a MotU display telling guests that He-Man Versus Skeletor Laser Tag would be opening in the park next year!
The display featured two lifesize action figures of the classic 1980s versions of He-Man and Skeletor. Behind them stands a mountainous display in the shape of Castle Grayskull. Within the castle’s entrance was a sign teasing the coming upcoming attraction. According to Glendale’s official website, the laser tag arena will take up 4,500+ square feet.
The Expo was not limited to teasers for just Adventure Park. Mattel’s Hot Wheels is also going to be the theme for the new Surf Coaster at Sea World Orlando:
It has been a couple of decades since I went to Hershey Park. It turns out that a new coaster is coming to the historic Pennsylvanian-based theme park, too. The IAAPA Expo was the place to see the first look at the Wildcat’s Revenge cars from Rocky Mountain Construction.
A live view of the construction of Mattel Adventure Park kicked off during the Summer. As of right now, a few structures are starting to form. It appears that part of the Crystal Lagoons resort is in the early stages of construction. The elevator shafts are up for one building, and the iron beams for the first two levels of the central resort are up. A 2023 opening date could be very likely, but it may be late into next year before the first guests walk into this latest theme park.
Mattel’s new land will offer the following attractions:
The armored Spidey suit has come a long way since its bulky first appearance in the 1990s. The MKIV is a much more streamlined affair that could almost be mistaken for a regular Spider-Man costume, except it was pretty shiny and, of course, had a glowing spider emblem on the front. Unfortunately, the suit was destroyed in the comics five years ago, but it lives on in 2018’s Spider-Man game and as Kaiyodo‘s latest 2.0 Revoltech figure.
Armored Spidey stands at 6.29″ tall and has all the articulation needed to pull off practically any pose we’ve seen in the webhead’s sixty years of crime fighting. This Amazing Spider-Man is $99 at the Big Bad Toy Store. The price may sound like a lot, but considering the lackluster Marvel Legends figures have reached close to $30 each and rarely come with worthwhile accessories, Revoltech is the way to go.
Parker will come with five interchangeable hands, three pairs of eye effects, four web effects, a couple of web gliders, and a stand to ensure maximum display potential. The color for the eyes and around the chest emblem is fluorescent paint, allowing it to shine under a black light. Expect the web-slinger to swing into stores around June 2023.

The articulation that allows you to recreate the unique action poses that fly in the air has been upgraded to make it easier to play and expressive, reflecting the gimmicks that have evolved in the Amazing Yamaguchi series so far! By moving both sides of the torso, you can move the shoulder blades forward and backward, and the additional joints on the shins that create the human body’s “bending” as emphasized in the comics are all articulated. By doing so, anyone can pose intuitively. In the slender proportions, the muscles that hold the power of a hero are expressed with more edgy details. The texture of the high-tech material on the surface of the suit is also combined with the metallic paint to create a more realistic atmosphere.

In the wake of the cancelation and closure of the reboot to G4TV by Comcast, more details about the short-lived network have been coming out. A combination of tweets and open discussions on podcasts from various individuals involved with the network have given everyone insight into how the network was troubled for a long time. But was even more about G4TV prior to the network’s relaunch plagued by other factors unrelated to what was seen in their content? Details about what it was like to interview for a job at G4TV may have given more troubling answers.
During the Spawncast After Show (around the 52:36 time mark) posted on the YouTube channel for RGT85, the channel being RGT Live and Extra, content creator MissClick openly talked about her experience going through the interview process for G4TV. The discussion during the live show first started with chatter about the late actor Kevin Conroy and his contribution as the voice of Batman. This was interrupted by MissClick asking if it was OK to discuss something related now that G4TV was no longer around.
During the show, MissClick went on to talk about what she meant. “I was already sus of G4TV during the interview process… they offered me a host position… where you have to relocate out to LA. So I go through the interview process, and the guy that was interviewing me… he goes ‘So why should we cancel Batman?… Why do you believe we should cancel Batman?’… And I was like, why are we canceling Batman?… And he said ‘because he’s rich and he’s white… people believe that he just skates on the law and that if someone of color did the same thing they wouldn’t get away with it as he does…’”
As MissClick went on to detail more about her experience, both the other hosts of the show and the audience in the chat watching were confused and shocked at the revelation. Host RGT85 went on to ask “That’s a real-ass question that they asked you?”. To which MissClick replied immediately after with, “That’s literally what G4 recruiting asked me, and whoever their manager was or whatever their interviewers were doing…”
During the rest of the live show, MissClick and the rest of the host response to questions and comments from the audience who react to the story. Many of them were very shocked to hear her story. She goes on to talk about her thoughts on the matter. “… I think this is one of the reasons why they didn’t pursue me to the next level… To be honest, if I was getting robbed or assaulted in Arkham or something, I wouldn’t really care who is saving me, I wouldn’t care if he’s rich and white, I just care enough that he’s actually saving people…” MissClick then says about the interviewer’s response “(I asked) … Are you going to do anything about it? And he didn’t like that answer…”
Another point brought up during her story was questions about what other superhero MissClick would cancel. She detailed how awkward the questions about it were and described how she had to give an answer to the interviewer, which ended up being the Punisher. Some of the other hosts on the show suggested that the interviewer was probably looking for an answer like Spider-Man since the web-slinger has worked alongside the NYPD in Spider-Man on the PlayStation 4. While that is unrelated speculation, what was understood among the hosts and the audience watching was how awkward and uncomfortable the questions were.
The rest of the show went on to continue discussing the rest of the main topics the group had, with the occasional reference and response to MissClick’s story. She finished her story with a few extra thoughts to the audience with her perspective on what ended up happening with the network.
“Honestly, G4 has been dead since the interview process… G4 was scrapped before it even began… that’s my opinion on it… Everybody who got a job at G4, had to answer that question… I wonder who they picked, I wonder what their answer was to get the job… those questions (the interviewer) literally said ‘these are the questions we ask all of our interviewees…’… I hung up from the interview saying to myself this was a waste of my time…”
What do you think about the story being told from MissClick and what are your thoughts about what happened with G4TV? Was the network really over before things got started for it? Post in the comment section below and let us know what you think!
Sony Pictures announced that their planned movie adaption of the hit video game series ‘Gran Turismo’ has begun filming with ‘District 9’ director Neill Blomkamp helming the production. The movie is the second attempt at bringing the game to the silver screen following a planned 2013 movie with ‘Tron: Legacy’ Joseph Kosinski attached to the project.
“Filming is now underway on (Gran Turismo),” Sony said on Twitter. ” …based on the inspiring true story of a Gran Turismo player, Jann Mardenborough, who won a series of gaming competitions leading him to become an actual professional racecar driver.”

Official social media accounts for the film have launched with most of the shoot being done in Hungary.
The movie stars David Harbour, Archie Madekwe, Orlando Bloom, Darren Barnet, Djimon Hounsou, Geri Halliwell-Horner, Daniel Puig, Josha Stradowski, and Thomas Kretschmann. The script is written by co-executive producer Jason Hall and Zach Baylin.
“As one of PlayStation’s longest standing and most beloved franchises, it’s great to be partnering with Columbia Pictures again to bring Gran Turismo to life in an exciting way,” producer Asad Qizilbash told THR. “We can’t wait for audiences to see Neill’s vision of this inspiring true story of gamer turned professional race car driver.”
The movie is slated to be released in theaters on August 11, 2023.
Clownfish TV previously reported that the movie is a dramatized version of a true story of a teen who played ‘Gran Turismo’ and would go on to become a professional racer. In the film, Harbour will play someone who will teach the teenager how to race in these Nissan competitions after he graduates from GT Academy.
The first ‘Gran Turismo’ was released in 1997 as a Playstation exclusive and has gone on to have seven sequels and received widespread acclaim as a racing game.
Longtime Spider-Man foe Norman Osborne is trying to start a new lease on life as a hero in the aftermath of the “Dark Web” story arc. This story, as well as the X-Men’s latest battle with Mr. Sinister, are highlighted in the latest Marvel Pull List.
“It’s not easy being…gold? In Christopher Cantwell and Lan Medina’s GOLD GOBLIN (2022) #1, Norman Osborn’s sins have been cleansed, but his memories weren’t, and he’s done plenty of horrific things to remember. Norman’s worked hard to avoid all things “Goblin” and to stay on the straight and narrow. Consequences in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (2022) pushed him to try super-heroing, and he liked it. But when the media dub him the Gold Goblin, he has to start wondering – can he ever get away from the Goblin inside,” Marvel said on their website.

“Then, the rumblings of SINS OF SINISTER begin in Kieron Gillen and Michele Bandini’s IMMORTAL X-MEN (2022) #8. What’s going on in foggy old London town in the year of our lord 1895? Well, it’s only Sherlock Holmes, Mystique, and Destiny on the tracks of a murderer and uncovering a truth that’s significantly more Sinister,” they added.
