Here’s The First Look At The Venture Bros.: Radiant is the Blood of the Baboon Heart

0

Years after The Venture Bros.’s seventh season left us hanging, we’re finally getting a follow-up in the form of a new movie! Warner Bros. Entertainment has released a first look at the upcoming feature-length adventure titled The Venture Bros.: Radiant is the Blood of the Baboon Heart.

The movie picks up where season 7 left off, with Hank Venture heading off on his own after finding his brother Dean in bed with Sirena. Will we finally figure out who Scare Bear is? What is the OSI doing with Dr. Venture’s teleportation pads? Will Billy ever defeat St. Cloud?

The Venture Bros.: Radiant is the Blood of the Baboon Heart will premier later this year, most likely on Max.

The last time we heard anything about the movie was in 2021. Fans of The Venture Bros. are used to waiting long stretches between seasons, but 7th season concluded in 2018. So the longest we’ve gone prior was around two years.

It was hard to swallow that the long-running and much-loved show was canceled on Adult Swim. If you take into consideration the other oddities that have continued to survive on Cartoon Network, this was a real punch to the gut.

Chris McCulloch, Jackson Publick, and Doc Hammer created a world like the one in comics like The Tick. Superheroes are more or less regular people with real-world issues like personality disorders or track records of failure. It could have easily been written off as a short-lived satire, but the characters continued to grow and evolve.

Who would have thought we’d care about the life of a butterfly-obsessed supervillain and his husky-voiced love? The Venture Bros. even managed to make henchmen interesting. The nameless goons who get mowed down now felt like real people.

What do you think of the first look at The Venture Bros. movie? Let us know below.

Godzilla vs. Kong Sequel Gets A New Title And Teaser Trailer

0

We’re less than a year away from the next Godzilla film from Legendary Pictures! Today we’ve finally learned what the film will be called and got a tease about who the next big bad will be!

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is the official title of the fourth film in Legendary’s kaiju series. It will focus on a new threat and explore the origins of Godzilla, King Kong, and Skull Island.

The creature teased in the video looks like an orangutan. The slim build of the creature could mean he’s younger and faster than Kong and Godzilla.

Although the teaser does end with a shot of the fuming skulls of a giant ‘zilla-esque creature and gorilla, I doubt they’re the film’s heroes. No doubt this points to the new villain having bested the ancestors of both heroic kaiju.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire will smash into theatres on March 15, 2024.

The official synopsis:

This latest entry in the Monsterverse franchise follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own. The epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins, and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.

Godzilla vs. Kong debuted in 2021. It was a match many of us had been waiting for, but the human drama injected throughout was a slog to watch. The battle between Kong, Godzilla, and Mechagodzilla was enjoyable. However, future installments of this series either need to drastically improve the adventures of the human characters or trim them down to minor players in a much greater story.

Regardless of the story’s quality, 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong raked in over $470M on an estimated $200M budget. This second sequel to the 2014 original outperformed its predecessor, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, by over $100M.

Eleven years later, Masayuki has lived a successful life, having gotten married and amassing a great fortune. But when his company collapses and his wife cheats on him, Masayuki retreats to the city where Yuki-Onna once saved him, and he reconnects with her by offering her money and tasty meals. While Masayuki recovers from his misfortunes, another one knocks on his door: his ex-wife is found beaten to death, and now only Yuki-Onna—who cannot reveal herself—can corroborate his alibi.

With no one to turn to, Yuki-Onna enlists the help of the spirits’ God of Wisdom, Kotoko Iwanaga. Revered by the various spirits that wander the earth, Kotoko uses her extraordinary wits and cunning to solve all quarrels they may have. In her duty to protect spirits and humans from colliding, Kotoko drags along her immortal boyfriend, Kurou Sakuragawa, and promises to prove Masayuki’s innocence without exposing Yuki-Onna’s existence.”

Meta’s VR Horizon Worlds Opens For Minors Regardless of Backlash

0

Meta wants money, and where does it get that money? By advertising to as many people as possible. So, it’s no wonder that Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta Horizon Worlds VR app will soon be letting in minors aged 13-17.

PC Mag reports that Horizon Worlds is opening the doors for minors within a few weeks. It turns out the stern words from two U.S. senators, Edward Markey (D. MA) and Richard Blumenthal (D. CT), did nothing to sway Zuckerberg. However, the concerns raised by the politicians may have caused Meta to push their safety precautions to the forefront.

When addressing the concerns of the two senators, a Meta newsroom post stated, “We’re rolling out to teens slowly, so that we can carefully examine usage and are taking a phased approach before expanding more broadly.”

In addition to the multi-leveled plans, Meta will also be implementing additional supervisory tools for parents:

  • We’re beginning to open Meta Horizon Worlds to teens ages 13 to 17 in the US and Canada in the coming weeks with a robust set of age-appropriate protections and safety defaults.
  • We’ve expanded our existing VR parental supervision tools to include Meta Horizon Worlds, making it easier for parents and guardians to help manage their teens’ experience and support healthy conversations about safety in VR.

The events and content within Horizon Worlds will also contain content ratings. Hopefully, this will filter out stuff that isn’t age appropriate. One of the stranger features is called ‘Voice Mode.’ The tool sounds like something out of a Black Mirror episode:

This feature transforms the voices of people a teen doesn’t know into quiet, friendly sounds, giving teens more control over who can communicate with them. It also garbles the teen’s voice, so people they don’t know can’t hear them. We turn garbled voices on automatically for all teens by default within voice mode.

Like most technology, there will be workarounds that could endanger kids or leave them open to contact with less-than-friendly adults. However, parents must do their duties and stay on top of what their children are doing online. This is a lesson that, sadly, still has not been learned even after the days of MySpace and Dateline’s To Catch A Predator.

Senator Markey did issue a new tweet condemning the targeting of teens by Meta:

What do you think about minors using Meta’s online VR sandbox? Let us know below.

Spirit Now Has 1:1 ‘Ghostbusters’ Proton Pack Replicas!

0

Spirit has finally created a 1:1 replica of the iconic Ghostbusters proton pack! And it’s more affordable than the other ones currently on the market!

The pack is reasonably priced at $249.99. Remember that the 1:1 Hasbro version of the prop was $399 when it was being crowdfunded.

Obviously, there are some concessions made with the Spirit version. It is made for wearing, after all. Unfortunately, it’s not 100% screen accurate. The bumper in front of the cyclotron is all one piece, and the speaker holes are still not well hidden.

However, what this proton pack has on the older, smaller one is better detail and sound effects that don’t sound like you’re flushing a toilet. Also, the cyclotron lights are now in sequence rather than flashing along with the garbled sound effects.

The Ghostbusters proton pack from Spirit also comes with three patches and a pair of black gloves. Why? Dunno. I’d have rather had the pack include mounting hardware for an ALICE pack instead. The straps for the replica are built right into the motherboard.

As of writing, the life-sized replica proton pack is still available to order. So buy a few now, and then make a mint when Halloween comes around because they’ll probably be sold out!

Mondo’s Next 1:6 X-MEN Figure Is Gambit!

We’re getting closer to having a complete X-MEN: The Animated Series 1:6 team! Several months since Mondo announced Magneto was joining the 12″ tall action figure series, they’ve finally added Gambit! He’s going to sell out quickly!

Like the other figures in the line, Gambit’s deco is themed after the Fox series from ’93. Remy LeBeau looks like he jumped right off of the screen. Aside from looking well worth his $215 price tag, Gambit comes with many accessories! For nearly any type of action pose you want to put the mutant in, Mondo has included an effects piece or interchangeable part to accomplish that.

Pre-orders for the card-throwing hero will be up through April 25th. Then, expect him to ship out sometime in November 2023.

Aside from Wolverine, Gambit was one of the most popular X-MEN of the 1990s. The character underwent very few aesthetic changes throughout that decade. From his first appearance in The Uncanny X-MEN 266, Remy has been sporting a brown trenchcoat, blue metallic boots, and that odd collar. It’s as iconic as his relationship with the team member who should be next on Mondo’s slate: Rogue.

The fourth in our XTAS 1/6 scale line, this new figure pays tribute to his kinetic prowess, with four portraits plus all his favorite weapons. And we couldn’t resist nods to some of our favorite episodes, including the inhibitor collars from “Slave Island” and a Mystique portrait inspired by ‘Days of Future Past.'”

After accepting the bear equipment, she finds herself transported to another in-game world that prevents her from returning to reality.

Confused and unable to log out, Yuna sets out to explore this new environment. She rescues a girl named Fina from wild wolves, who then guides her to the city of Crimonia. With her eccentric bear attire, however, Yuna stands out wherever she goes, and alongside her boosted fighting prowess, her reputation quickly rises—to the point that people give her the nickname Bloody Bear.

Undeterred by this change in her life, Yuna decides to take on the role of an adventurer and fully enjoy herself in her new world.”
