Hogwarts Legacy on Nintendo Switch Delayed to November 2023

Hogwarts Legacy has sold an unbelievable amount of copies across the different platforms it was released for. Most recently, Avalanche Software and WB Games announced that the game had made over $1 billion in sales since its initial release, making it one of the biggest-selling games of 2023. This came after Hogwarts Legacy had finally released for previous generation consoles, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. But there’s one platform that the game was supposed to come out for but hasn’t just yet.

Unfortunately, Harry Potter fans looking to play Hogwarts Legacy on the Nintendo Switch will have to wait longer. Originally the game was planned to be released for the Nintendo Switch in July of 2023, but plans have now changed. The Switch version of Hogwarts Legacy has now been pushed back over four months and has a planned release of November 14th, 2023.

The official Hogwarts Legacy account on Twitter made the announcement, sharing a message with fans who were curious about the Switch version. “We know fans are looking forward to playing on Switch, therefore creating the best possible experience is our top priority. Thank you for your patience.” Most recently, the game received an update with various improvements and patches, addressing different bugs and other aspects of the game that needed to be tweaked.

The reception to the bad news has been mixed, with many feeling disappointed while others seem indifferent. Some voiced their dismay at how long it’s been taking for the Nintendo Switch version of Hogwarts Legacy to get released, while others did not seem to care too much after playing on one of the other consoles. Some people had already gotten to play the game recently on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One it came out on May 5th for those platforms. Some players that were interested in the game on its initial release had decided to wait for the game to come out on Switch, citing the portability of the experience with the Switch as an interesting way to play.

Hogwarts Legacy before and after its release received an immense amount of backlash and controversy but was able to achieve a high critical rating from multiple gaming outlets. We reviewed Hogwarts Legacy on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, citing the wide-open world to explore and the combat as highlights of the experience. Despite attempts by various groups to boycott the game and voice displeasure about its release, Hogwarts Legacy was able to sell over 10 million copies within its first few weeks of release. That number eventually jumped high to pass 15 million copies sold once the game was available for previous-gen consoles.

What do you think about the Nintendo Switch version of Hogwarts Legacy getting pushed back to later in 2023? Will you be playing the game for Switch when it’s finally out? Tell us about it in the comments below and let your voice be heard!

Review: Star Wars Return of the Jedi Endor Bunker

I did break down and buy it. The 40th Anniversary Star Wars: Return of the Jedi Endor Bunker preys on those of us who remember the Kenner playsets of old, like the Ewok Village or Yoda’s shack, or (if you were lucky enough) the Death Star. At least it’s a cheap repack like the Admiral Ackbar figure we covered before.

The Endor Bunker is not an inexpensive item. Via Target, it set us back $59.99. The speeder bike and scout trooper pack is not much less, $41.99. Hasbro, what is with these prices? How can McFarlane Toys deliver a huge Batmobile or Batwing vehicle for less than $40, but anything with the Star Wars name is commanding nearly double the price?

While the balance between price and value is subjective, we still need to point out that other toy companies are delivering collectible-level items for less.

The bunker is an adequate display piece if you put effort into it. There’s no weathering on the plastic. The Endor greenery is done in a single color. The most detail we see is in the small control panel Han has to hotwire. If you’re used to building models or painting Warhammer figures, getting this to look more detailed is an afternoon’s work.

However, that price tag is hard to shake off once you see just how little there is to the Endor Bunker. Aside from a few moving panels and the blast doors, there’s nothing else. Kenner (really Hasbro) didn’t bother including a cardboard backdrop to put inside the bunker. Instead, it opens up to … nothing at all! Maybe Hasbro plans to create a build-your-own-bunker kit as they did with the Tantive IV corridor, but I doubt it. Minimalism appears to be what Hasbro aims for while maximizing the price tag.

Thankfully, the Endor Bunker does not feel cheap. All the parts snap together nicely, and the assembled toy is solid. The double set of doors slide along a track lock into place thanks to friction joints.

As I mentioned before, if there were more to this bunker, even a backdrop, it may be worth the price tag. Since the Disney takeover, the Star Wars toy line has suffered a significant downgrade. Remember when we got things like the highly detailed Millenium Falcon in the late 2000s, which was less than $200? Instead, we’re being asked to pay nearly that much for a smaller ship like an X-Wing or Slave 1.

The $59.99 is somewhat offset by including the rarely-seen Rebel Commando in an Imperial scout trooper disguise. Don’t you remember this guy? Yeah, he shows up briefly after the Rebel’s first attempt to destroy the shield generator fails. He can be seen (from behind) in the background before that posted outside of the bunker.

The Rebel Commando is just a standard scout trooper figure with a swappable head. Everything else about the figure is the same as the one you can find with the speeder bike pack.

Would I suggest picking this up? Unfortunately, the cost-to-value ratio is not something I’d recommend to even hardcore Star Wars collectors, and I was one before the recent unpleasantness with Disney.

Mortal Kombat 1 Reboot May Include Peacemaker and Homelander

Fighting game fans have a lot to get excited about in 2023. With the release of Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8 around the corner, the only other one of the big three fighting franchises left out so far is Mortal Kombat. But official details may be imminent after an official teaser from Ed Boon was shared online, and yet leaks about Netherrealm Studios’ next game are floating around from prominent insiders. MK fans might be getting a complete reboot of the series, but also some very interesting guest fighters for the next big game.

According to leaked info from a prominent gaming news leaker named Billbil_kun, the next game Ed Boon and the team at Netherrealm Studios will be called Mortal Kombat 1. The game will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. There will be multiple editions of the game on release, including a Standard version, Premium Edition, and Collector’s Edition at varying prices. Billbil_kun also states that an official reveal and announcement of the game is close, most likely happening during the upcoming summer months, which may or may not have a release window for the game.

For many following the news and information being shared on social media, fans believe that the Summer Games Fest from Geoff Keighly may be the spot where we officially see the game. But that hasn’t stopped other details about the game from being leaked out to media outlets. A source to Windows Central reported that guest characters for Mortal Kombat 1 will include John Cena’s Peacemaker from DC, as well as The Boys’ Homelander, played by Anthony Starr on the show, as post-launch DLC characters. This will be part of a Kontent Pack for the game, very similar to what Mortal Kombat 11 had after its initial release on all platforms.

As of now, there has been no official word or response from WB Games or Netherrealm Studios on any of the details being shared, outside of the first teaser shared online recently. Mortal Kombat series creator Ed Boon did share a few cheeky responses to the speculation on his personal Twitter. Ed is known for having fun with fans who interact with him on social media, so this could be a way of holding out details until it’s time for an official unveiling.

The majority of Mortal Kombat fans had previously assumed that the next entry of the series would be Mortal Kombat 12, continuing the story from the previous game. Back in 2009, Mortal Kombat underwent a reboot that brought the series back to its roots of 2D fighting but incorporated 3D visuals from later entries of the franchise. So far, no details about returning characters for the game’s roster are known. We might hear more about that and other details about Mortal Kombat 1 in the coming weeks.

What do you think of the news about the next Mortal Kombat game? Do you think Peacemaker and Homelander sound like great guest characters? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!

Hiroyuki Kakudō served as the director with Satoru Nishizono, who worked as the scriptwriter for the show. Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru did the character designs for the DigiDestined’s characters. Japanese entertainment studios WiZ, Bandai, and Fuji Television participated in the production.

NECA To Re-Release The Massive ALIENS Queen Figure!

After a few years of waiting, NECA announced that it will re-release the ALIENS Xenomorph Queen Deluxe action figure! This “mean mother” can be pre-ordered from the Big Bad Toy Store. The expected release date for the big baddie from ALIENS is September. She is priced at $139.99, which is a far better deal than what the figure is going for right now on reseller websites like eBay ($200+).

The Xenomorph Queen is in scale with the other ALIENS action figures. She stands 15″ tall and 30″ long (including the tail). The figure also sports a healthy amount of articulation with 30 points total. The tail is poseable as well, thanks to being molded around a wire. It’s unclear from the pictures, but this Queen may have a brighter blue tint to her armor than the previous releases.

Additionally, the Xenomorph Queen comes with two different inner mouths and a display stand.

“NECA’s most massive and most ambitious Aliens figure ever is the terrifying Xenomorph Queen from the 1986 Aliens film. She stands over 15″ tall and is over 30″ long, with over 30 points of articulation, including a spectacular poseable tail. Bring some of the movie’s most thrilling scenes to life in realistic detail because the Queen is completely in scale with NECA’s 7″ Alien action figure line. Includes a display stand and two different interchangeable inner mouths. Window box packaging.

Although the figure is impressive in scale, detail, and articulation, there are the usual NECA problems to contend with. Check out The Review Spot’s video on the previously released version of the figure below. You can also read our review of the 40th Anniversary Creepshow figure here.

I still want to know how this massive momma managed to sneak aboard the dropship without anyone noticing. What are your thoughts? Let us know below.

HiDive Picks Up Horror Anime PET

0

‘PET’ is a 2020 psychological horror anime directed by Takahiro Omori and animated by Geno Studio. It is based on a manga written and illustrated by Ranjō Miyake that was published between 2002 to 2003. The TV thriller ran for one season of thirteen episodes and was originally released in the United States by Amazon, but HiDive has announced that they would be streaming it.

“We’ve got great news for all you psychological anime fans out there: PET is coming to HIDIVE on Thursday, May 18,” they said on their website. “Trust us when we say you’ll want to make time for this, cause we’re dropping the entire series at once. So, what are you waiting for?”

Written by Sadayuki Murai, the series was produced by the animation studio Twin Engine and featured characters designed by Junichi Hayama with Hideyuki Shima handling the music and score. The series stars Keisuke Ueda and Kishō Taniyama as protagonists Hiroki and Tsukasa, respectively.

You can watch the trailer below:

Wikipedia describes the synopsis as follows,

“In ancient China, martial artists had developed a psychoactive technique that allows its users to enter the subconsciousness of the human mind by manipulating their enemies’ memories via their “Peak”, where their most treasured memories are visible and their “Valley”, where their most negative memories are suppressed. Later during the 21st century, an organization called “The Company” are tasked with retrieving and securing the descendants of said martial artists by turning them into “Pets”, mindless hitmen against various targets who might pose a threat. Tsukasa and Hiroki, a master/pet duo who goes by the name Tsubushiya follows orders from the company as they slowly begin uncovering its secrets as well as a plot involving colleague Satoru and his former foster father, Hayashi.”

The manga was originally published by the Japanese publisher Shogakukan in their ‘Big Comic Spirits’ magazine before being picked up by Enterbrain.

English Dub Announced For ‘Urusei Yatsura’ Anime Reboot

0

The 2022 ‘Urusei Yatsura’ reboot anime made a splash following its debut on Fuji TV in Japan with the Tokyo-based David Production releasing the first season of twenty-three episodes. HiDive brought it over to the United States with their streaming service and now Sentai Filmworks has announced that they would continue to dub the series.

“Why hello fellow English dub connoisseurs! We’ve got great news to share. Although we already announced that the Urusei Yatsura English dub would continue uninterrupted starting in May, we didn’t tell you the exact date and time it would start (admittedly, one could deduce that since the keyword here was “uninterrupted,” but we digress). The wait is over because the dub continues on HIDIVE,” they said on their website.

Voice actress Jade Kelly (Call of the Night) has been tapped for the role of heroine Lum while Nathan Wilson (Knights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya) will voice protagonist Atar.

You can watch the trailer below:

His opponent is Lum, the Oni’s very pretty princess, and it’s only thanks to Ataru’s unscrupulous behavior that he’s able to scrape out a win in a treacherous game of tag against her. Ataru thinks he’s had his lucky break at last, but when Lum takes a shine to him off the battlefield, the conflict follows him home as Lum invades not only planet Earth but also the womanizing Ataru’s love life!”

The original ‘Urusei Yatsura’ anime ran from 1981 to 1986 and had several OVA spin-offs and feature film sequels.

Marvel Comics To Relaunch The ‘Uncanny Avengers’

0

Marvel Comics has announced that they will relaunch the ‘Uncanny Avengers,’ a series that sees Captain America leading the Avengers Unity Division which works with members of the X-Men. The original series was ran between 2012 and 2017 in the aftermath of the ‘Avengers VS. X-Men’ story arc.

They said on their website, “The Avengers and the X-Men have saved the world countless times, but the two iconic teams haven’t always seen eye-to-eye. In an effort to change that, the Avengers Unity Division brought together heroes from both teams. Since then, these UNCANNY AVENGERS have attempted to bridge the gap between mutants and the rest of Marvel’s heroes.”

“Now, we’re taking a look back at the Uncanny Avengers and how some of Marvel’s most iconic Avengers and X-Men joined forces to save the Marvel Universe as the Avengers Unity Division. Before UNCANNY AVENGERS (2023) reassembles these heroes, we’ll also break down how Captain America and Rogue set the stage for the team’s return in FREE COMIC BOOK DAY 2023: AVENGERS/X-MEN #1 in a story by Gerry Duggan, Javier Garrón, Morry Hollowell, and VC’s Travis Lanham,” Marvel explained.

Duggan previously worked on ‘Deadpool’ and ‘All-New Guardians of the Galaxy’ while Garron has illustrated titles like ‘Ant-Man: The Saga of Scott Lang’ and the ‘Avengers.’

“Since the Avengers Unity Division disbanded, the establishment of the mutant nation Krakoa has redefined the role of mutants in the Marvel Universe. With Krakoa centralizing mutantkind’s political and economic power, the anti-mutant forces of the world have come together to form Orchis, an organization dedicated to the extinction of mutants,” Marvel continued.

“Orchis launched its latest attack on mutants by stealing the X-Men’s Captain Krakoa powersuit. While an unknown Orchis ally intimidated government officials with the Captain Krakoa suit, several other Orchis agents attacked Captain America, who was only saved thanks to a quick intervention by Rogue,” Marvel continued. “Now, Captain America and Rogue will assemble Deadpool, Quicksilver, Psylocke, and Penance as a new Avengers Unity Division to face Orchis and the mysterious Captain Krakoa in a new UNCANNY AVENGERS series by Gerry Duggan and Javier Garrón.”
