Cosplaying as Sauron Is Even Easier Now With This Official Helmet

You’re pre-ordered Sauron’s mace, but you’re still missing his helmet. Not to worry, Pure Arts is making a 1:1 scale replica of the Dark Lord’s brain protector! We spotted this replica over at the Big Bad Toy Store.
The catch is that this thing may not be wearable. It is constructed of polyresin and lacks a backside or head strap. But at least the thing looks badass and comes with a Barad-dûr base. The stand lights up, allowing you to see the Eye of Sauron through the helmet. The multiple tiers of lava also light up with LEDs.
The product description says that the piece’s height is 35″ tall, but I’m not sure if that includes the base or not. Regardless, the helmet looks enormous and comes with an equally significant price.
Sauron’s helmet is limited to 7,000 pieces and can be picked up for $899.99. Unfortunately, this replica will not ship until the fourth quarter of 2022 and requires a $135 non-refundable downpayment.

The Dark Lord Sauron, creator of the One Ring and the Rings of Power stirs once more. Feared throughout the ages of Middle-earth, Sauron ruled from the lands of Mordor and the dreaded Barad-dûr.
PureArts proudly presents our first officially licensed Lord of the Rings collectible with the Sauron Art Mask. Carefully sculpted from the movie reference material, the mask is paired with a hyperdetailed fully sculpted Barad-dûr mounting base with LED molten lava effects and the blazing Eye of Sauron.

Is $899 too much for a replica of Sauron’s headpiece? Should it be offered without the Barad-dûr base to cut down on cost? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.

‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Actor Josh Brolin Joins Amazon Studios Show ‘Outer Range’

‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Deadpool 2’ star Josh Brolin is setting aside his infinity gauntlet and his laser rifle for a cowboy hat and boots in the upcoming Amazon Prime Video show ‘Outer Range.’ Describing the series as “genre-bending,” it will have eight episodes released on the streaming service in April.
Amazon Studios explained on their website that “‘Outer Range’ centers on Royal Abbott (Josh Brolin), a rancher fighting for his land and family, who discovers an unfathomable mystery at the edge of Wyoming’s wilderness. A thrilling fable with hints of wry humor and supernatural mystery, ‘Outer Range’ examines how we grapple with the unknown.”
Brolin will lead a cast that also features Imogen Poots (I Know This Much is True), Lili Taylor (Perry Mason), Tamara Podemski (Four Sheets to the Wind), Lewis Pullman (Top Gun: Maverick), Tom Pelphrey (Ozark), Noah Reid (Schitt’s Creek), Shaun Sipos (Krypton), Isabel Arraiza (The Little Things), Olive Abercrombie (The Haunting of Hill House), and Will Patton (Yellowstone).
The show is created by Brian Watkins who will also serve as showrunner and executive producer.
Some “first look” images were also dropped with the announcement.

The synopsis is described as follows,
“At the onset of the series, the Abbotts are coping with the disappearance of daughter-in-law Rebecca. They are pushed further to the brink when the Tillersons (the gaudy owners of the neighboring profit-driven ranch) make a play for their land. An untimely death in the community sets off a chain of tension-filled events, and seemingly small-town, soil-bound troubles come to a head with the arrival of a mysterious black void in the Abbotts’ west pasture. Wild revelations unfold as Royal fights to protect his family; through his eyes, we begin to see how time contains secrets held in the past and unsettling mysteries foreshadowed.”
Amazon Studios will work with Plan B Entertainment to produce the show.

During a long, harsh winter, six soldiers embark on a covert mission across a frozen archipelago, risking their lives to transport a mysterious package that could end the war. As they enter hostile enemy territory, they have no idea what dangers lie ahead or who—if anyone—they can trust. But for speed skater turned soldier Caroline Edh, the mission is about something else entirely. Starring Noomi Rapace in a film directed by Adam Berg, BLACK CRAB follows six soldiers on a desperate mission to bring an end to the war which has destroyed their lives.”

‘Black Crab’ will hit Netflix on March 18, 2022.
You can watch the trailer below:

The is produced by Malin Idevall and Mattias Montero with Berg co-writing the screenplay with Pelle Rådström.
The movie is based on the novel ‘Black Crab’ by author Jerker Virdborg. Goodreads states that the book “is an existential thriller that takes place in a northern country that can be reminiscent of Sweden, in a time that can be reminiscent of spring. Four men on an unknown mission over ice that barely bears.”

Video: Blaire White Talks YouTube Success

Over the past decade, the “Influencer” has become the newest type of celebrity. For years we had Hollywood stars, reality TV stars, singers, and various news media talking heads who would become gain celebrity status in their own right. Now, a YouTuber has the potential to usurp the popularity of even the most established entertainment industry icon. Even YouTube channels can garner more views than traditional television channels.
Blaire White started her YouTube channel in November 2015. She almost immediately shot to E-Celeb status thanks to her personality and unique position as one of the few trans personalities on the video hosting platform. By discussing semi-taboo issues like transitioning and gender dysphoria at the time, Blaire found an audience with others who felt like they did not have a voice or person to turn to who could relate to these issues.
Since she launched her channel with a simple setup and low video resolution, the YouTuber has become a full-fledged media personality. She has appeared on the Joe Rogan Podcast and other major outlets as a social and political commentator.
The social and political landscape of our world was much different in 2015. So how has Blaire White evolved, and has the fame changed her? We spoke with Ms. White today about the topics of YouTube, growing as an entertainer, and the effect all these events have had on her life.

If you’d like to learn more about Blaire White, check out her Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, merchandise store, and Patreon.
I’d like to personally thank Miss White for coming to the show to talk about the lighter fare. We know that politics can be stressful, and sometimes it’s nice to talk to people like their humans rather than a political or social label.

Storm Joins Hasbro’s Marvel Legends Animated X-MEN VHS Toyline

Hasbro has announced another mutant will be joining the X-MEN Animated Series VHS series of figures. Storm (Ororo Munroe) is a powerful mutant with the ability to control the elements. From lightning, rain, and tornadoes, she is a match for even the most dangerous member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.
Storm is now available for pre-order and is $27.99. She will be flying out around the beginning of September 2022. As the name says, Storm will be packaged in a box resembling a VHS box, complete with artwork inspired by the Animated Series.
Munroe is a bit light on accessories. She only comes with a second pair of hands with lightning effects. Oddly, she does not come with a second head with all-white eyes or at least a stand that makes her look like she’s flying.
Wolverine and Jubilee had previously been announced in October. The figures feature paint jobs that make them look like they leaped right out of the ’90s animated television series. Wolverine even comes with some accessories that let you recreate your favorite memes.

Sandy Claws, Oogie Boogie, and Zero Are In Diamond Select’s Next Wave

Who thought that The Nightmare Before Christmas would have such lasting power that toys are still being made  29 years since it first hit theatres? When it was released in ’93, the merchandising prospects sort of sucked. Now we’ve got Jack, Sally, and the rest of Halloween Town on nearly everything.
For the past few years, Dimond Select has produced several characters from the classic stop-motion film. This year we’ll be getting a new set that will include Jack, Oogie Boogie, and Zero. These three will be arriving in July. The figures can be picked up for $24.99 each or as a set of all three $74.97.

Diamond Select

A Diamond Select Toys release! With Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas, the best keep coming! This third series of the NBX toy line’s greatest hits features Oogie Boogie, Santa Jack and Zero, and each figure comes packaged in a full-color box. Oogie Boogie features a removable face, Santa Jack features multiple points of articulation, and Zero features an articulated flight base. Each figure comes packaged in a full-color window box. Sculpted by Cortes Studios.

Previous Diamond Select exclusives from The Nightmare Before Christmas are still available. The “Making Christmas” set can be pre-ordered for $120. Meanwhile, the Jack, Santa, Zero, and Oogie Boogie set is available now for $120. Other ancillary characters are also still in stock. Click here to see what Diamond Select currently has.
Action figures based on the Henry Selick flick have come and gone from a few companies over the years. I tried to collect the NECA line in the 2000s, but I gave up after finding numerous defects or broken figures. I’m not sure if Diamond Select’s figures are better constructed, but since Jack is so slim, it’s hard to guarantee his joints will hold up for long unless he’s kept in the box.
What do you think of Diamond Select’s figures? Let us know your experiences with them in our comments section below.

ThreeZero Jumps Into The Voltron License With A 10″ Tall Defender

ThreeZero is moving on from Transformers to another franchise about changing robots. The Chinese toymaker is taking a crack at Voltron: Defender Of The Universe with five lions that combine into the super robot.
The newest focus on Voltron figures is for the robot form to have a greater degree of movement. Voltron is created via five lion bots of various sizes, so there are so many moving pieces. Each of those pieces needs to be somewhat free moving while also sturdy enough to hold up the weight of the entire robot, which has always been an issue since the early 1980s.
Even the newer Voltron toys from 2017-2018 were limited in movement once fully assembled. Unfortunately, the only way to fix this is with more engineering, better materials, and a higher price tag.
ThreeZero‘s Voltron may be $299, but it is more affordable than 5Pro Studio’s $699 version. If you can forgo all the accessories and improved poseability, then ThreeZero is the way to go. Voltron should start shipping out during the third quarter of 2022.

Accurately simulating its appearance on-screen, ROBO-DOU Voltron is a non-scale, fully-articulated figure standing approximately 27cm (~10.6”) tall in Voltron mode with a remarkable die-cast main frame and an impressive metallic finish to highlight the details of the mecha. Voltron is composed of five Lion mecha, and is able to split into Lion mode, or combine to form Voltron. All five Lion mecha are fully-articulated figures partly adopting zinc alloy and metal parts for the movable joints. Combined, the figure utilizes 124 points of articulation for the total of five machines, with a set of Voltron mode wepons in addition to a unique set of weapons for each Lion.

‘Tyger Blue’ Isn’t Just A Comic, It’s A Multi-Media Event!

I’m a picky person regarding what gets my money on crowdfunding websites. Campaigns that have shown the highest rate of success, from personal experience, have been with action figures and comic books. We recently learned of an Indiegogo project that included both of those things.
Tyger Blue is a multi-media project from writer Matt Fowler and artist Jose Garcia of Retro Graphic Books LLC. The story centers around a “bio-weapon” developed by an enclave of German scientists in the 1930s. One of these creations is Tyger, who strikes back against the Axis powers.

Retro Graphic Books LLC

Early elements of the Axis Powers are secretly working together to develop the ultimate bio-weapon. Ferocious beasts created by German occult science, trained by dark Samurai, and used by the Mafia as lethal enforcers.

When Tyger realizes how truly disposable he is, he rebels against his masters.

Forced to fight his brothers, Tyger’s struggle for vengeance and survival has begun!

The comic’s art is already finished, and according to the campaign, the movie pledge goes to “lettering, printing, and shipping this 52-page book.”

Part of the success of a crowdfunded comic, game, or toy is in the tiers. What are we getting for backing the project? Is it worth $10, $50, or $100+ dollars? Tyger Blue only has three tiers, but what it packs into the $50 option more than makes up for the lack of choice. The $20 and $25 levels get you the Tyger Blue comic, but the ‘Child of the 80’s Bundle’ is where you get the most bang for your buck.
The ‘Child of the 80’s Bundle’ is what really caught my eye. This $50 tier includes two items that appeal to collectors of retro-styled merchandise. This bundle includes a 3.75″ action figure, similar to Super7’s ReAction line, and a Game Boy-styled Tyger Blue game.

Retro Graphic Books LLC
Yes, this includes a reproduction box and cartridge matching the look from Nintendo’s classic handheld system.

The cartridge is not functional, but it does include a download code for a demo for a Tyger Blue fighting game similar to ‘Punch-Out.’ Zade Studios developed the playable demo. The game’s box art is from legendary Konami artist Tom duBois.
The Indiegogo campaign is active for just four more days. Click here to get on board and claim the $50 bundle.

What Would Iron Studios’ Power Rangers Diorama Be Without Alpha?

1

When we reported on Iron Studios’ Mighty Morphin Power Rangers diorama last Summer, we noticed that a particular character was absent. Moreover, the set was missing an annoying, manic robot who made C-3PO look chill by comparison. That’s right; Alpha 5 was missing in action.
This week Iron Studios rectified this issue by announcing Alpha would finally join the mix. The spastic robot and Zordon’s, for a lack of a better word, slave will be $99.99 and $129.99 when he launches during the third quarter of this year.
Alpha 5 will come in two models, standard and deluxe. The deluxe model has a console and gem attached to the base, while the standard one does not. The price difference is $30, as the standard release is $99.99.
The statue is made from polystone and is hand-painted. Where, exactly, he fits into the Power Rangers diorama isn’t clear, but it’s probably supposed to go in the back. You know where people cannot see him.

Iron Studios
Iron Studios
Iron Studios
Alpha 5 was either omitted on purpose or because no one thought he’d sell.
Power Rangers came out when I was in my teens, where I was more entertained by cynicism and MTV than this type of show. So, I never got into it until the show became a proto-meme in the 2000s. I do, however, remember the non-stop marketing campaign when the first movie hit theatres.

Do you know what Alpha 5 reminds me of? A Psalty the Singing Pslam Book character. Look at him! You cannot tell me that he doesn’t look like something you’d see in an episode of Colby!

What do you think of Alpha’s inclusion in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers diorama? Would you be willing to drop $100 to make sure the entire set was complete? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

Apple May Be Putting the Mac OS In A Keyboard?

0

Apple may soon be implementing the Mac OS into devices other than the all-in-one monitor or Mac Mini. PC Mag reported on the findings of Patently Apple that the computer manufacturer has filed an updated patent pointing to the potential merger of a Mac with another device.
Where we’ve seen Macs in monitors, what if the OS was inside a Keyboard or another device typically paired with a desktop computer? The US patent filing points to Apple’s newest type of all-in-one Macintosh.

Apple

The computing device 100 shown in FIG. 1A can also function as an input device, such as a keyboard, and can be used with a display 102. This is, however, merely one representative example of a computing device that can be used in conjunction with the ideas disclosed herein. The computing device 100 can, for example, correspond to a virtual keyboard, a track pad or touchpad, a mouse, a tablet computer, a combination thereof, or other input devices. The computing device 100 shown in FIG. 1A can be generally referred to as a keyboard having computing components which permit the keyboard to function as a desktop computing device. As shown, the computing device 100 can be used in conjunction with any number of monitors or displays 102, as well as other input devices such as a mouse 104, a track pad (see FIG. 5), a stylus (not shown), a microphone (not shown), or any combination of input devices.

This is a logical progression for Macs. If Apple wants to keep displays slim while eliminating desktop clutter, why not combine the smaller Mac Mini into the keyboard? This could make a desktop Mac even more portable if you could also stream wirelessly to an iPad or iPhone while traveling.
What do you think of Apple potentially combing input devices with a Mac? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.
