Ellen Ripley Shines In This Premium Masterline Statue From ‘ALIENS’

Ellen Ripley is back! No, it’s not some lousy reboot, but a premium statue from Blitzway featuring the classic sci-fi hero as she appeared during the climax of the legendary ALIENS film from 1986.
At the Big Bad Toy Store, we spotted this recreation of Ripley’s heroic quest to save Newt as the atmospheric processor started to go nuclear. Decked out with only flairs, a flamethrower, and a pulse rifle, the most badass mother in the universe, is about to clash with the grotesque xenomorph queen.
The statue is priced at $1,264.99 and will ship around September 2023.
The statue is composed of several different mediums, including polystone and fabric. Ripley’s clothing is all done with stitchwork, and from the up-close shots, it looks impressive. The Reeboks are probably polystone, but they’re painted and textured so well that it’s hard to tell for sure.
The LE statue comes with a bonus in the form of an Ovomorph (egg) with a Facehugger crawling out of it. Sadly, there’s no Newt statue to accompany this whole scene.

Following the Locator, Ripley navigates the narrow gangways of the Atmosphere Processing Plant, and here, Prime 1 Studio’s engineering really shines! Not only is Ripley’s base reminiscent of the grimy, industrial maze of pipes and grates, but if you look down at the platform, the LED Illuminated floor recreates the seemingly endless levels Ripley has to traverse until she reaches the Xenomorph Queen’s Hive!

Here’s what all comes in the box:

  • Ellen Ripley statue
  • M41A Pulse Rifle
  • M240 Flamethrower
  • Ammunition Cross Bag
  • Marking Flare Pouch
  • M-94 Marking Flares
  • Bonus Ovomorph and Facehugger

The only thing I do not like about this statue is Ripley’s face. The structure is correct, but the eyes look like they’re too small. Maybe Blitzway/Prime 1 Studio couldn’t get Sigourney Weaver’s likeness rights? Regardless, all the other details make up for it. What do you think?

The Legend begins! Diamond Select Toys kicks off a new line of Jean Claude Van Damme collectibles with this Gallery Diorama of the Muscles from Brussels in one of his iconic, superhumanly balanced poses! Demonstrating one of his famous high kicks in front of a gong, the young JCVD stands approximately 10.5 inches tall and is made of high quality PVC. It comes packaged in a full color window box.

Van Damme had a storied career in the early ’90s. However, he came around at a time when the whole super-macho heroes of the 1980s were on the way out. His role as Guile in Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game: The Movie: The Debacle didn’t help cement his career as a leading man. To be fair, his fight scenes in Bloodsport are friggin’ amazing.

At the very least, he did contribute to the Predator franchise … by being cut out of the movie and having the film’s monster totally reimagined.

What are your thoughts on Van Damme and his Hollywood career? Let us know your opinions in the comments section below. But be careful because he may just be watching … just like the Predator.

Toei Animation Shares Update On Cyber Attack

The Japanese movie company Toei Animation faced a brutal cyber attack on their servers in March 2022 that caused many of their projects to be delayed. ‘Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero’ had its theatrical release delayed while episodes of ‘One Piece’ ‘Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai,’ ‘Delicious Party Precure,’ and ‘Digimon Ghost Game’ were forced to have their broadcasts briefly canceled following the hack.
Crunchyroll is now reporting that the NHK has revealed that the company was targeted by ransomware from hackers who were seeking to make a profit.
They explained that “the hack on Toei Animation was a ransomware virus that demanded a pay-off. Toei was able to confirm the existence of the virus and shut down its internal systems to investigate the extent of the virus’ reach. Details on the ransom, the virus itself, or where the virus may have come from, were not revealed.”
“The Japan Computer Emergency Response Team Coordination Center (JPCERT) revealed that these types of cyberattacks had become more common against Japanese companies during the pandemic, jumping from 20,000 reports in 2019 to 35,000 in the first 9 months of 2021. In February 2022, Toyota and its supply chain companies were targeted by a similar hack causing production to halt, with March seeing three other high-profile companies attacked,” they continued. “All anime production is currently still slowed down due to internal systems not being fully operational.”
While new episodes of the anime are restarting production, ‘Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero’ is still in limbo with no firm release date being offered.
“The extent of the situation is still under investigation, and efforts are underway to normalize the operations. We deeply apologize to our fans for any concern this may cause,” Toei Animation said in a statement.
Most of the shows will begin airing new episodes in the middle of April 2022 while other projects will continue to see delays.

Anime Short Film ‘Summer Ghost’ Is Coming To America

The hit Japanese 2021 short film ‘Summer Ghost’ is making its way to the United States and the rest of North America after the distribution company GKids announced they had struck a deal with the movie’s production company Flat Studio.
“GKIDS, the acclaimed producer and distributor of multiple Academy Award nominated animated features, announced today it has acquired the North American distribution rights for SUMMER GHOST, the debut “short feature” from acclaimed Japanese illustrator loundraw,” they said on their website. “Developed from a single illustration from loundraw, the film features original character designs from the artist, and is produced by FLAT STUDIO the all-new animation studio he established in 2019. Joining him on the project are novelist Hirotaka “Otsuichi” Adachi who wrote the screenplay, and internationally renowned pianist Akira Kosemura for the soundtrack.”
While no official release date has been given, GKids said they plan to release the short film in North America sometime in Summer 2022 for a brief theatrical run before giving it a home video release.
Check out the trailer below:

MyAnimeList describes the film’s synopsis as follows,
“A local urban legend claims that lighting fireworks at an abandoned airfield will call the “summer ghost,” a spirit that can answer any question. Three troubled teenagers—Tomoya, Aoi, and Ryo—do not know each other yet, but each has their own reasons to show up one day. When a sparkler is lit, a ghost named Ayane appears, and she reveals she is only visible to those “who are about to touch their death.” The three teens return home, but Tomoya soon begins visiting the airfield alone, as he becomes obsessed with the mystery surrounding Ayane and the true purpose of her visits.
Inspired by one of his own drawings, this remarkable directorial debut from the celebrated illustrator loundraw brings his lush visual sensibility to a poignant supernatural drama about the struggles of growing up, and the importance of living life to the fullest.”
Hirotaka Adachi serves as the main writer for the film.

Two ‘Max Payne’ Games Are Getting Remade for PS5, XBOX, and PC

Thanks to Coming Soon, we discovered that Remedy Entertainment revealed that Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne are being remade. The details were found via the company’s investor website. However, don’t expect the games to appear any time soon, as everything is currently in the “concept development stage” at this point:

Under the development agreement signed today, Remedy will develop the games as a single title for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S using its proprietary Northlight game engine. The game’s development budget will be financed by Rockstar Games, the size of which will be in line with a typical Remedy AAA-game production. Under the agreement, Remedy has a royalty opportunity after Rockstar Games has recouped its development, marketing, and other costs for distributing and publishing the game.

Remedy’s current CEO, Tero Virtala praised Max Payne’s legacy while making it clear that the original games’ tones will be recaptured, “Max Payne has always held a special place in the hearts of everyone at Remedy, and we know the millions of fans worldwide feel the same. We’re hugely excited to be working with our partners at Rockstar Games once again for the chance to bring the story, action, and atmosphere of the original Max Payne games back to players in new ways.
Max Payne 3 was a solid action game but poor use of the Max Payne franchise. What went from being a dark and moody noir tale turned into a bog-standard cover shooter with OK bullet-time mechanics. I tried replaying it recently while revisiting the first two Max Payne titles and found it to be such a jarring departure from the formula.
What are your thoughts on Max Payne 1 & 2 being remade? Will Rockstar Games allow Remedy to stick to the originals’ gritty and unflinching story? Or will we see the games toned down to appeal to the gaming journo mobs? Let us know your opinions and thoughts in the comments section below.

Scream’s Ghost Face Killer Statue Is Going To Murder Your Wallet

0

Over a quarter of a century ago, iconic director Wes Craven reinvigorated the horror genre with his 1996 slasher film Scream. It mixed a commentary on horror movie tropes with an instantly memorable killer, whose outfit was a “ghost face” Halloween outfit.
Since then, we’ve seen sequel after sequel, but the franchise’s merchandising aspect has been lackluster. There have been figures and a few other collectibles, but nothing I’d throw serious money at until now. For $1,350, you can own a 29.5″ highly detailed statue of the Ghost Face Killer from PCS.
That price may be high, but the level of detail on this thing is impressive. From the splintered door to the curtain rod and even down to the voice changer and lock, this thing is practically begging my savings account to be bled dry.
While the same price, The Exclusive Edition comes with two interchangeable parts: a bloody knife and a bloody mask. So, why wouldn’t you buy this one? Both versions will be shipping out during the Spring of 2023.

The mixed-media Ghost Face Statue features sculpted details and tailored fabric elements to give the horror collectible an added element of dynamism. The figure’s mask, pants, and boots are all sculpted while the black fabric cloak, hood, gloves, and sleeves are all tailored to recreate the costume’s deathly appearance. Wiring in the hood and sleeves allows for posing the material. Additionally, the white curtains of the busted window background are fabric with wire support for posing.
