X-Men Become Fun-Sized With These MiniCo Statues

0

Iron Studios is currently taking orders for several lil classic ’90s X-MEN statues from the MiniCo line. Think of them like Funko Pop figures, but without the soulless eyes. The MiniCos range in size, mainly because some of the characters are standing on pieces of scenery. Wolverine’s statue, for example, comes in at 8.2″ tall while Gabit’s is 6.7″, and Beast’s measures 5.5″ in height. They’re all made from PVC and weigh 1 pound or less.

Most of the MiniCo statues are $39.99, except for Jean Grey. Her price is $44.99, probably because she’s perched on top of a large Sentinel head. The only figures that aren’t available right now are Magneto, Profession Charles Xavier, and Nightcrawler.

Iron Studios

Iron Studios proudly presents its first MiniCo line of Marvel`s most beloved mutant superheroes, the X-Men, one of the most requested series by fans and collectors, in Iron Studios` stylized Toy Art version. The collection is based on the design of comics from the 1990s, one of the most popular and cult phases of the group, with a diorama scenario of the heroes on top of a scrap of a Sentinel Robot, one of their classic enemies, and explores the most striking traits of each character`s personality through their looks.

If this line continues, I wonder who else will join the roster from this era of the X-Men comics? Juggernaut? Sebastian Shaw? Emma Frost? Omega Red? Banshee? Apocalypse? Sabertooth? Rogue’s perfect butt? Ok, I know who everyone wants: Morph. Sure, he was technically only made for the Fox Kids cartoon, but you know you want him.

What other Marvel comic series should get the MiniCo treatment? Spider-Man would be a pretty good pick, especially from the same era as these X-MEN characters. Come to think of it, were the ’90s the last great years for Marvel Comics? Compared to what we see on the shelves today, probably. Let us know what you think below.

Golden Age Batman Joins Mezco’s One:12 Collective

I’ve always preferred the basic two-tone version of Batman’s suit, the Golden Age stuff before the yellow emblem was added to his chest. The time before, he was made to be a bit more kid-friendly. Mezco obviously likes the darker Dark Knight, too, because the company just announced a new version of the Caped Crusader for the One:12 Collective line of premium action figures. Golden Age Batman is priced at $95 and is expected to ship within the next couple of months. Like with most One:12 figures, the 6″ tall protector of Gotham City comes with several accessories, interchangeable parts, and multiple head portraits.

‘Spider-Man’ Issue 1 Trailer Teases End of the Spider-Verse

0

Marvel Comics is rebooting the ‘Spider-Man’ comic book series with writer Dan Slott and illustrator Mark Bagley working on it as the new creative team. They are teasing an epic event titled ‘Edge of the Spider-Verse’ with a new trailer that suggests the Spider-Verse could come to an end.

“Featuring Peter Parker and other fan favorite Spider icons like Spider-Woman, Ghost-Spider, Miles Morales, and Silk, SPIDER-MAN will be packed full of “twists and turns and emotional stakes,” according to Slott. After all, Morlun is back, and he is not alone. Allied with Shathra, one of the most powerful beings known to the Spider-Verse, the scariest Spider-Villain of all time is making his biggest play and no Spider is safe – especially not the Chosen Spider himself, Peter Parker. With Peter working for Norman Osborn and using a glider due to the events of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN… does he have it coming,” Marvel said on their website.

You can watch the trailer below:

“Mark Bagley and I are ending the Spider-Verse! We’re destroying it, completely and utterly,” Slott said in an interview. “We’re taking this thing you all dearly love and is a huge cash cow for Marvel and we’re just pouring gasoline on it, setting it on fire, and running away cackling. We’re having fun!”

He continued, “THE END OF THE SPIDER-VERSE will see Peter, Miles, and your favorite characters from previous Spider-Verse stories, along with all-new characters from the upcoming EDGE OF SPIDER-VERSE mini, slam them all together, and bring the entire SPIDER-VERSE saga to a fiery close!”

“It’s going to have lots of action, surprises, but, most of all, it’s going to have a lot of heart! Even though this story will be epic, it will also have a profound effect on Peter Parker. You are not going to want to miss this,” Slott added.

Slott previously worked on ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ where he oversaw the widely controversial “Brand New Day” story arc.

Soundwave Is Here To Serve … As Your Business Card Holder

0

Soundwave is one of the top three G1 Transformers characters for me. He was my first Takara Tomy figure, and there was something about the cassette gimmick that I loved. However, as a grownup (barely), it’s hard to justify filling your office with retro toys while trying to maintain a certain level of professionalism. Luckily, Icon Heroes found a way to incorporate Transformers into your office while also being classy.

Rather than ejecting cartridges that transform into Laserbeak or Rumble, this new version of Soundwave has the unique ability to … hold your business cards. OK, I can dig it. Business card holders are typically bland pieces of office furniture, and having a golden Soundwave will liven things up in your Monday thru Friday prison.

The golden Soundwave bust is priced at $60 and is made of polystone. The Decepticon measures 5.5″ tall, 7.5″ wide, and 5″ deep. He weighs about 2 lbs. So, even the heaviest cardstock business cards won’t topple him over.

Icon Heroes presents the Transformers Golden Lagoon Soundwave Bust Card Holder!  What better way to display your business cards than with Megatron’s loyal lieutenant? Based on the Transformers episode The Golden Lagoon where Autobots and Decepticons are protected in electrum coating after dipping into a golden lagoon, the Soundwave card holder can hold approximately 100 cards (not included) with the tape deck flipped down. Business cards not included. Limited edition of 300.

G1 Soundwave was voiced by Megatron himself, Frank Welker. His voice is usually heavily modulated to give it a synthetic sound, which helped the character become such an icon. Soundwave was devoted to Megatron, so much so that he carried the defeated Decepticon leader aboard Astrotrain after being mortally wounded in his battle against Optimus Prime. Oddly enough, that dedication vanished when Starscream decided to jettison the damaged comrades from Astrotrain.

What do you think of the golden transformer cassette player? Is he a worthy addition to your office desk? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

Ethan Hawke Revealed As Batman In ‘Batwheels’ Clip

0

‘The Black Phone’ star Ethan Hawke makes his debut as the Dark Knight in the upcoming kids show ‘Batwheels,’ an animated series on the young audience Cartoonito programming block on Cartoon Network. The clip is from the pilot episode “Secret Origin of the Batwheels” which will be released on Batman Day, September 17th.

The pilot episode description explains, “When Batman, Robin, and Batgirl are captured, the Batcomputer brings the Bat-Vehicles to life. The newly-minted Batwheels must defend the Batcave and face off with the Legion of Zoom – all without Batman’s help!”

You can watch the clip below:

Warner Media describes the synopsis as follows,

“They are a team of incredible crimefighters who have banded together to oppose evil, combat crime and clean up the streets of Gotham City. They are…okay, they’re NOT Batman and Robin. They’re the Batwheels – an awesome group of sentient super-powered crime-fighting vehicles defending Gotham City alongside Batman, Robin, and Batgirl.

Having just been created by the Batcomputer, our heroes are essentially kids with little to no life experience. Led by Bam (the Batmobile), the Batwheels – Bibi (the Batgirl Cycle), Redbird (Robin’s Sports Car), Batwing (the Batwing Jet Plane), and Buff (the Bat Truck) – must navigate the growing pains of being a newly formed super-team as well as the growing pains that come with just being a kid. This relatable and aspirational series will follow the journey of this dynamic team as they thrill and entertain with their heroic adventures as well as demonstrate to kids the value of self-confidence, friendship, and teamwork.”

Besides Ethan Hawke, the show stars Jacob Bertrand (as Bam), Gina Rodriguez (as Catwoman), Xolo Maridueña (as Snowy), Jordan Reed (as Redbird), Madigan Kacmar (as Bibi), Noah Bentley (as Buff), Lilimar (as Batwing), Kimberly D. Brooks (as The Batcomputer), Mick Wingert (as Moe and The Joker) AJ Hudson (as Duke Thomas/Robin), Leah Lewis (as Cassandra Cain/Batgirl), Griffin Burns (as Prank), Alexandra Novelle (as Jetstah), Josey Montana McCoy (as Quizz), Ariyan Kassam (as Ducky), SungWon Cho (as Badcomputer and The Riddler), Tom Kenny (as Crash), Chandni Parekh (as Harley Quinn), Jess Harnell (as The Penguin), Regi Davis (as Mr. Freeze) and James Arnold Taylor (as Toyman).

Toy Biz’s Ghost Rider Returns In Marvel Legends!

Not all Marvel Legends toys are bound to end up in windowless boxes. The retro-inspired Legends figures are still going to be on blister cards. That’s a good thing for us collectors who,  you know, actually want to display our unopened action figures. Oh, and it also means we can ensure that the figure isn’t broken before we lay down $30 or more.

We saw that the animated version of Ghost Rider has risen from his Fox Kids grave and is ready to punish the wicked. Superhero Hype had the details about this newest Toy Biz throwback. By “detail,” I mean only images. Ghost Rider’s release date and price are still up in the air. What we do know is that this guy looks badass.

The Marvel Legends version of the Toy Biz Ghost Rider is a mashup of the character from the first two waves of the ’95 toy line. Ghost Rider here is sporting his early motorcycle gear, but it’s in shades of black and gray rather than navy blue and sky blue. The Spirit of Vengence looks good, regardless. He comes with a flaming chain and a swappable head of Johnny Blaze.

In the mid-1990s, Toy Biz was on top of the Marvel Comics action figure game. Their figures had come a long way from the early days after transitioning away from DC Comics characters. The X-MEN line was massive, and the animated Spider-Man figures proved very popular. Fox continued to commission new shows based on characters like Hulk and the Fantastic Four. Still, the success of those was noticeably limited in comparison to Peter Parker and Xavier’s students. Ghost Rider did not get his own series for whatever reason, but he made several guest appearances across multiple shows. Even with a smaller on-screen presence, Toy Biz made a line of figures based on the Rider. The first wave consisted of Johnny Blaze as Ghost Rider, Vengence, Blaze, Blackout, Skinner, and a transformable Johnny Blaze. In addition, there were six vehicles.

New Ryu & Chun-Li Figures Get Mixed With Power Rangers

The Power Rangers have a kink. The alien-fighting warriors love mixing their DNA with other IPs like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. But I guess the thrill of dipping into that mutagen pool wore off because the Power Rangers are now splicing genes with Street Fighter!

Two new Power Rangers X figures were announced by Hasbro Pulse this week. The latest combinations of Sabans long-running repurposed franchise involve Capcom’s Street Fighter series. Ryu and Chun-Li are the first two heroes from the iconic arcade fighting game to crossbreed with the Rangers. The wandering brawler takes on the role of Crimson Hawk Ranger, while the fierce Interpol agent becomes Blazing Phoenix.

Each figure is priced at the new normal for these 1/6th scale figures: $33.99. Sadly, they sold out almost instantly. However, I’d expect these to show up elsewhere. Check Entertainment Earth or the Big Bad Toy Store for available pre-orders. Ryu is scheduled to ship in January, followed by Chun-Li in February.

These 6-inch Lightning Collection Mighty Morphin Power Rangers x Street Fighter Collab action figures feature premium paint and decorative details inspired by Capcom’s iconic Street Fighter franchise and its Power Rangers mashup, with over 20 points of articulation for high poseability. Plus, swappable hands for more ways to play or display.

Chun-Li is instantly recognizable; however, Ryu doesn’t have enough pronounced articles of clothing that would make him easy to identify. If I’d only seen a picture of the figure, I would not have known he was part of the Street Fighter franchise. I see Hasbro is also keeping with the windowless boxes. As a collector, I wouldn’t say I like these. You can’t see the figure’s condition before you buy it. On top of that, the packaging makes displaying pointless.
