What If ‘Felix The Cat’ Were Charlie Chaplin: The Action Figure

0

I’m not kidding. This is precisely what the JT Studios 1/6 scale figure looks like. If it were not for the signature yellow bag, I’d swear this was some sort of modern interpretation of Charlie Chaplin if he were a DJ. This doesn’t mean I don’t like it; he looks pretty cool. Not $439.99 cool, but I can’t control the prices at the Big Bad Toy Store. Since Felix is now 103 years old, it may be time for him to evolve.

Even weirder is that this figure is a collaboration between JT Studio, Universal, and Dreamworks. How, exactly, did all this come about? What meetings were held where Felix would be brought up in a modern setting? This must have been one of those times where studio executives were running down a list of IPs they had not yet bled dry and found poor Felix’s name.

Felix the Cat will be out during the second quarter of 2023.

Presenting the Felix the Cat figure from JT Studio. in collaboration with Universal and Dreamworks studios. JT studio has designed this 1/6 scale Felix the Cat figure with a modern stylized design that collectors will love. It features custom clothing and premium articulation for a wide array of poses.

Felix comes with the following:

  • Felix the Cat mask
  • Hat
  • Crutch
  • Duffle bag
  • Boombox
  • Stand

Does Felix have lasting power? He has been in and out of the spotlight so many times and for such short durations over the past century that it feels like no one knows how to use the character correctly. He’s not exactly exciting and doesn’t have the same supporting side characters that helped Mickey Mouse become the icon he is today. On the other hand, maybe that’s what Felix truly needs, a cast of characters by his side that pulls in the audience. What do you think? Let us know below.

Party Night Optimus Prime Is In Stock Now

Are you ready to party with the Autobots and Decepticons? Want to hear some fresh beats coming out of Blaster? Are you here to witness Bumblebee spit some wicked rhymes on the mic? Ugh, I could feel myself aging as I typed all that. Anyway, Mighty Jaxx has three unique Transformers busts that put the robots in disguise in a situation I don’t think we’ve ever seen them in before. That is unless Michael Bay managed to give Prime an 8 Mile moment with Megatron, and I thankfully forgot.

The Transformers X Quiccs series shows us what Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Megatron would look like if they were hanging out in a more urban setting: tagging walls, rapping and carrying heavy boomboxes around. This line of Transformer collectibles includes Rapper Bumblebee and Tagger Megatron. These are also $249 a piece and are in stock.

Not to be outdone by the Decepticons at Party Night, the Autobots throw their hat in the ring with Bumblebee! Spitting the most fire robot flow, Bumblebee takes charge of the stage and shows Soundwave who is the true master of the Party Night stage. With his extra shiny metallic sheen, all eyes and ears are on Bumblebee as he commands the stage with his mic and bling. Continue the Transformers rave with the one-and-only Bumblebee!

Mighty Jaxx

The Autobots have been leading the ring at Party Night with Bumblebee’s MC-ing, but the Decepticons are not to be outdone. Representing the pillar of street art and graffiti, Megatron is here to show off his creative prowess! With his menacing grin and imposing stature, be glad that the only kind of bombing he’s gonna be doing today is graffiti! With his metallic spray can, the leader of Decepticons paints the town black, literally!

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Multiplayer Officially Lives Again!

0

In the early days of XBOX Live, there was one game that my friends and I would play nearly every evening: Wolfenstein multiplayer. Although not quite what PC players had with Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, the XBOX multiplayer mode came with the console’s version of Return to Castle Wolfenstein, which was fantastic. However, I don’t remember completing the single-player campaign because the online aspect was so damn good. Eventually, the servers were shut down, and we all had to move on. However, on PC, the community stayed alive through private servers.

It was a lonesome road for those looking for official servers until this Summer when Microsoft and Bethesda announced that the Enemy Territory was back online! According to PC Mag, Bethesda updated players on the status of the dedicated server this week, saying:

We’re excited to announce that we’ve deployed official dedicated servers for Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. Though the community has hosted – and continues to host – servers with a variety of mods and custom maps that we highly recommend, we also understand that many players are looking for a more nostalgic experience. So, starting now, you’ll be able to find official servers running the vanilla Enemy Territory Campaign ruleset, with all six original maps and no mods! We’ve set up servers across multiple territories to better ensure players from around the world can play with relatively low ping.

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is still free-to-play thanks to Steam, and there are currently hosted on four dedicated servers spread over the globe, namely in Texas, the Netherlands, Australia, and London. The game isn’t fully back to its glory days, but it’s better than winding up on an empty server with someone who has modded the game into an unplayable state. The game as it stands now is limited to the following settings and types:

  • Game Type: Campaign
  • Maximum Players: 16 (8v8)
  • Friendly Fire: Yes
  • Punkbuster: No
  • Anti-Lag: Yes
  • Max Lives: Off
  • Weapon Restriction: Off

Did you play Enemy Territory back in the day? Will you pick it up now? Let us know below.

The Solid Snake, who introduced many of us to the Metal Gear series, is now immortalized in a series of life-size busts.  First4Figures is offering up multiple versions of the Solid Snake bust, including an Exclusive Edition and my favorite – the Codec Version. These two are priced at $699.99. If you’re trying to be thrifty, First4Figures has three ” grand-scale ” busts; they’re roughly half the price. Regardless of which life-size bust you pick, the measurements are the same: 12.1″H, 8.5″W, and 6.8″D. Expect these to ship out during the third quarter of 2023.

Playmobil Goes Large With A ‘Star Trek’ Bird Of Prey Playset

As a parent, we’re all dreading the upcoming holiday season. It means we must try to hunt down whatever the hot new toy is, which has been made even worse because of supply chain shortages. I don’t look forward to having to sucker punch grannies to make sure my kid is happy on Christmas morning, but we all gotta do what we gotta do.

And what is going to be this year’s must-have plaything? The Playmobil Star Trek Bird of Prey, of course! All the kids are begging their parents for it. Just imagine seeing the joy on their little faces when they can reenact the climactic battle between Captain Kirk and the Klingons on the Genesis planet!

Yup, Playmobil is continuing to court the collector’s market with franchised-themed playsets and vehicles. The Bird of Prey is pretty pricey, although it’s smaller than the U.S.S. Enterprise playset. Expect to pay $299.99 when this thing is released in December. While the Playmobil U.S.S. Enterprise focused on the original Star Trek series, the Bird of Prey jumps ahead to Star Trek III: The Search For Spock. Yeah, that’s a weird choice. The smart choice would have been to use it as a Star Trek IV playset with two whales included, but maybe that’ll be the next set.

Regardless, we get a Commander Kruge figure in this set, which is almost worth the price of admission alone.

Commander Kruge’s Klingon Bird-of-Prey, Star Trek fans can travel to different worlds in the Federation, the Klingon Empire, or even the Genesis planet. PLAYMOBIL`s Bird-of-Prey with Lights and Original Sounds is based on the movie from the 80s Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and expands the PLAYMOBIL Star Trek universe. Explore the legendary starship with many mechanical and electronic functions and meet one of the most notorious Klingons, Commander Kruge. Kruge’s crew, Admiral Kirk and Mr. Spock as well as the planet Genesis are also included in this playset.

The Bird of Prey comes with the following figures and accessories:

  • 1 Klingon Commander Kruge
  • 1 Klingon Maltz
  • 1 Klingon Torg
  • 1 Klingon Gunner
  • 1 Admiral James T. Kirk
  • 1 Mr. Spock
  • 1 bottom plate (Planet Genesis) with lava and tripod
  • 1 suspension
  • 4 monitor disks
  • 2 disruptor guns
  • 2 swords
  • 2 communicators
  • 1 pistol
  • 1 electronics module
  • 1 flame large
  • 11 flames small
  • 3 trees
  • 4 pairs of arm cuffs

Did you pick up the Enterprise? Will you get the Bird of Prey? Let us know below.

DC Comics Reveals The Joker’s True Identity … and it’s Shared By a Rock Star

0

It has been a mystery that has evaded fans of the Batman since he first appeared to baffle the creation of Bob Kane and Bill Finger. Who is the Joker? Many names have floated to the top of the list in recent years. Jack Napier was put forth in the 1989 Tim Burton film and echoed in ‘Batman: The Animted Series.’ Jeremiah and Jerome Valeska were twin brothers who portrayed different versions of a proto-Joker in ‘Gotham.’ The character is known as Arthur Fleck in the Academy Award-winning film ‘Joker.’ For the most part, the Joker has been portrayed with no identity such as in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight.’

DC Comics revealed his “true name” in the fifth issue of ‘Flashpoint Beyond,’ a sequel to the crossover event ‘Flashpoint.’ The Joker’s new official name is Jack White.

Consequence of Sound reports on their website, “Bruce Wayne’s father, Thomas Wayne (this universe’s Batman), heads to Arkham Asylum to meet with his estranged, incarcerated wife Martha (this universe’s Joker). Martha tells Thomas that she forced Psycho-Pirate, a villain notable for having extensive knowledge of the multiverse, to reveal everything he knew about the main DC Universe timeline, including the Joker’s real name — which, of course, he shares with the former White Stripes frontman.”

The singer-songwriter does not seem to mind that his name is shared with the iconic villain. He made a post on Instagram discussing the revelation.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CiO2LGQuSs0/?utm_source=ig_embed&ig_rid=7b0cdade-7c0f-4da8-93fe-8003974dc916

He wrote, “An interesting note; during the process of putting together the artwork for my album “Fear of the Dawn” last year, i asked artist Rob Jones to communicate with the amazing DC comic artist Mikel Janin to see if he would be interested in a commission: illustrating me in the range of the style that he draws his version of The Joker for DC comics.”

“i had seen his version and i found his lines to be very inspiring. I sent the drawings he had done of the Joker that i loved, but i didn’t want him to make me look like the Joker, only using some of the intensity of the face and bone structure style that he used, just less maniacal haha! (this was on his own, not as part of his work for DC in any way). This was included in the album artwork along with other illustrators. Bizarre patterns and coincidences emerge in the universe that we only see glimpses of at times, some meaningful, some meaningless. A large thank you to Mr. Janin for contributing this wonderful work to the record,” he added.

J. Reko or Joe Kerr has been a frequent false identity used by the Clown Prince of Crime, though mostly as a joke.

Discotek Media To Release ‘Symphogear GX’ On Blu-Ray

0

The 2015 third season of the fan-favorite anime ‘Symphogear,’ subtitled ‘GX,’ is making its way to home video in North America with Disoctek planning to release it on Blu-ray. It will feature all thirteen episodes in the original Japanese language with English subtitles.

Katsumi Ono directed ‘Symphogear GX’ for the Japanese animation studio Satelight. It was written by Akifumi Kaneko and produced by Yuusuke Morii. It stars the voice talents of Yoshino Nanjō, Aoi Yūki, Nana Mizuki, Ayahi Takagaki, Yōko Hikasa, Ai Kayano, and Yuka Iguchi.

The box set has a planned release date of September 27th, 2022. It is currently available for pre-order at Right Stuf Anime.

You can watch the opening sequence below:

Singer Nana Mizuki performed the opening theme song “Exterminate” while Ayahi Takagaki performed the ending credits song “Rebirth-day.”

MyAnimeList describes the synopsis as follows,

“Following the events of Senki Zesshou Symphogear G, Hibiki Tachibana, Tsubasa Kazanari, and Chris Yukine continue to operate under the command of Genjuurou Kazanari. Meanwhile, Maria Cadenzavna Eve, Kirika Akatsuki, and Shirabe Tsukuyomi are taken into protective custody. With peace restored, everyone returns to their daily lives; however, the appearance of the alchemist Carol Malus Dienheim and her subordinates—the “Autoscorers”—threatens to draw everyone back into a conflict.

Armed with a strange and magical power, Carol wishes to initiate the apocalypse and bring destruction to the world… and she is willing to sacrifice everything to do so. Against this mysterious new foe, the six Symphogear wielders must rise to the challenge in order to protect what they hold dear. However, will Carol and her Autoscorers prove to be too much to handle in this fight to protect the fate of the world?”

The ‘Symphogear’ series is based on a 2013 manga written by Akifumi Kaneko and Noriyasu Agematsu with illustrations by Dan Yoshii for the Japanese publisher Kadokawa Shoten.

Can It Play Doom? No! The Apple Watch Can Now Play Quake!

It’s common these days to see id Software’s original DOOM running on all sorts of hardware. If it has a screen, you can probably rip and tear. But what about the developer’s other shooters? What could run Quake? Today, we learned via PC Mag that someone got the original Quake to run on an Apple Watch.

Check out the video of Quake in motion on Tomas Vyzmazal Series 5 Apple Watch. Based on the stats shown on the Watch’s screen, the iconic FPS is playing at around 60 frames-per-second at 640X480. Aiming up and down is done by rotating the dial while moving and firing on done with on-screen buttons. Vyzmazal programmed in a feature to switch movement to be done via the Watch’s built-in gyroscope. Sadly, he did not show off how firing or jumping would be accomplished in this mode.

Since this is an unofficial port of the game, you won’t be finding it for purchase anytime soon. However, for those of us with coding knowledge and a Mac, all you have to do is visit Vyzmazal’s GitHub to start your journey. There he has listed all the required downloads. This particular mod of the game is running on an Apple Watch Series 5, with watchOS 8.6, and transferred via an iPhone with iOS 15.6:

You cannot get the build on App Store, but you can build this yourself, having a Mac and Xcode this release does not contain any assets as they are copyrighted with non permissive licence (as opposed to the code), but you can use download_shareware_assets.sh to download and extract pak0.pak from zip of shareware release of Quake1.

Quake was id Software’s fast-paced first-person shooter, which launched in 1996. Over the years, the title and its subsequent sequels were ported to multiple platforms, but nothing this small. To be fair, playing Quake on an Apple Watch isn’t ideal because the controls are minimal. However, it does show us there are possibilities currently unexplored by developers.
