Amazon’s RXPass Will Fill Prescriptions For $5 A Month

0

Amazon is expanding its online pharmacy by adding a new subscription-only service that claims to provide a discount on several common medications, from Allopurinol to Venlafaxine. The RXPass costs $5 a month and allows users to “get all their prescribed medications on the RxPass list filled as often as they need for one flat monthly fee.

If you’re taking multiple medications (see the complete list below) that total more than $5 a month, this is a decent cost-saving strategy if you’re in a State that accepts RXPass. Currently, residents of the following States cannot participate in the subscription service: California, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington. Also, you cannot use an HSA or FSA to pay the $5 monthly fee.

Amazon claims that Prime members who subscribe to this service can save up to 68% on their meds. Via the RXPass page, the people who will “benefit most” are the following:

  • Prime members paying more than $5 a month for medications
  • Anyone taking a generic medication that’s eligible for RxPass
  • People who pay out-of-pocket for their medication

Here is the current list of covered medications:

  • ALLOPURINOL
  • AMLODIPINE
  • AMOXICILLIN
  • ATORVASTATIN
  • AZELASTINE
  • BENZTROPINE
  • BIOTIN
  • BUPROPION
  • CEPHALEXIN
  • CYCLOBENZAPRINE
  • CYPROHEPTADINE
  • DONEPEZIL
  • DOXAZOSIN
  • DOXEPIN
  • DOXYCYCLINE
  • DUTASTERIDE
  • ESCITALOPRAM
  • ESTRADIOL

  • SIMVASTATIN
  • SOTALOL
  • TAMOXIFEN CITRATE

The question is, will you trust Amazon with your prescription information? The company claims your info will only be used under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) guidelines.

Considering how Amazon is expanding into many different areas (film, TV, gaming, meds), could this rapid and random growth lead to a major downfall? Rumors last year circulated that the company may terminate 11k workers from its global force, a move that other tech giants mirror.

Give Her The Gift Of Frankenstein’s Monster & His Bride!

If there’s one thing I think of when it comes to St. Valentine’s Day and love is this quote from The Bride of Frankenstein, “We belong dead!”

Super7 knows it’s hard for horror fans to find genre-specific items themed toward the lovey-dovey holiday. Everything is cute, cheerful, and not at all dark and gloomy. Now you can give your loved one the gift of a ReAction Monster and his Bride this February 14th!

Not only does the doomed duo come in a heart-shaped box, but the figures are also colored white and pink. The best part is that the pink parts of their outfits glow in the dark! The Valentine’s Day Heart Box two-pack is $45 and is currently available to ship!

The perfect Valentine’s Day gift for any Monster Maniac! The Valentine’s Day Universal Monsters ReAction Figures 2-Pack features Frankenstein’s Monster and The Bride of Frankenstein in glow-in-the-dark pink, packaged on a plastic insert inside a heart-shaped box. What better way to celebrate than by giving your Valentine the gift of Universal Monsters ReAction Figures (although you should probably still get the chocolates, too)!

I totally get what Super7 is going for by making a ReAction-themed Valentine’s day set with Frankenstein’s Monster and The Bride. In passing, it’s a cute way to celebrate the holiday with your horror-fan loved ones. However, if you’re familiar with the classic Universal Monster movie, you know that the tale of the creature and his mate does not end well.

It’s not even romantically tragic. The newly created Bride spurns the creature’s advances, hissing at him. The rejection causes the creature to declare that he, his mate, and the man who helped bring her to life should return to ash.

Premium Rocketeer & Betty Figures Are On The Way. Psylocke, Too!

The Rocketeer is back! No, there’s no new Disney movie (thankfully, considering what happened to Willow). Instead, the original comic book version of the hero is flying back into the collectibles market with a new action figure two-pack.

The Big Bad Toy Store is taking pre-orders for 6″ tall versions of Cliff Secord and his girlfriend, Betty. The set comes in a fantastic box with artwork by the character’s creator, the late Dave Stevens. The price is a bit of a kicker, though.

Betty and Cliff are priced at $149.99. Unfortunately, this doesn’t appear to be a limited edition or numbered set from Executive Replicas. So, I do not quite understand the high price tag. However, if you’re a hardcore fan of The Rocketeer, I won’t blame you for spending that kind of money.

Cliff has 31 points of articulation and comes with the following accessories:

  • 6 Pairs of hands
  • Helmet
  • Rocket pack
  • Blast effect
  • Pistol

Betty has 28 points of articulation and zero accessories unless you include massive sex appeal. The expected ship day is this June or July.

Recently, the classic version of the Rocketeer that appeared in comics starting in the early 1980s is gaining more popularity than its Disney counterpart. We recently covered an amazing-looking watch based on the WWII-era hero and some upcoming retro-styled action figures. It’s an excellent time to be a Rocketeer fan!

Another pricy figure we spotted today is Medicom’s classic version of X-MEN’s Psylocke. Before Marvel/Disney did all sorts of weird things to her design, Psylocke was one of the iconic sexy heroes from the early ’90s comic book days.

Thankfully, this 5.1″ tall, super posable action figure displays all of that beautiful nostalgia. She’ll cost ya, though. Psylocke is $104.99, but she does come with plenty of accessories that could make her the star of your X-MEN collection:

  • 2 Head sculpts
  • 6 Energy effects
  • 2 Katanas
  • 2 Scabbards
  • Katana/Scabbard accessory
  • 3 Pairs of hands
  • Stand

Expect the assassin mutant to arrive this April.

Kids Are Sure To Love Mattel’s ‘Seinfeld’ Little People Collection

0

Twenty-five years after its weird series finale, Seinfeld is still holding on to life thanks to streaming services and the adult collectors market. However, today’s collectibles are not the typical fare. If you thought your Seinfeld collection was missing baby toy versions of the show’s main cast, Mattel has something just for you.

The company’s Fishher-Price Little People line of Seinfeld figures is perfect for people aged 1 to 101. Yes, we all know there’s a booming market for toddlers who are also fans of the show about nothing. In fact, it was on many Christmas gift lists. Kids cannot get enough of an unemployed George Costanza or Kramerica Industries CEO Cosmo Kramer.

The set includes all the kids’ favorites: Jerry, Elaine, George, and Kramer. They even come in a box replicating Jerry’s apartment. Can you spot all the callbacks from the show’s nine seasons?

This perfect gift for the little Festivus celebrator in your family will only set you back $25.

Fans of the Emmy Award-winning TV series Seinfeld can bring home their favorite foursome with this special edition Little People Collector figure set from Fisher-Price. This must-have collector set features 4 Little People figures styled like the main characters, including Jerry Seinfeld, Cosmo Kramer, Elaine Benes, and George Costanza. The display-worthy package features familiar scenes from the series, including Jerry’s apartment and a stand-up comedy stage.

Elaine, oddly enough, does not come with some deep-cut accessory. At least George arrives with the garbage éclair. I would have also accepted Kramer if he went with a Mackinaw peach.

If you’ve ever wondered what Seinfeld would have been like as a 1980s computer game, check out the Flash Tub cartoon Bitcoms below:

I’m not one to talk because I’ve got the LEGO version of Jerry’s apartment sitting on my dresser next to the LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse. But the Little People seems like a weird collectible for adults. Is it just me? Let me know in the comments below.

New ‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ Trailer Is Too MCU-ish

0

Late last year, we noticed a very Marvel Cinematic Universe vibe going on with the Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves featurette. Lots of humor, quips, and things that have become storytelling crutches for Disney’s comic book movies appear to be infecting other genres now. Maybe we were being too hard on the video, but then a new trailer came out, and we had the strangest feeling of déjà vu.

If you think the new trailer feels like it’s borrowing from the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s formula, that’s because it may be by design. Comic Book Resources claim that the directing duo of Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley were namedropping the MCU. Still, I could not find a quote that directly references the long-running series of films.

I think if may be implied by this quote from Daley, “Dungeons & Dragons presents itself in such a unique way that it is absolutely natural to have your characters have a sense of humour. It’s more reflective of people in life. You sometimes laugh at tragedy in order to be able to cope with it. It’s a very natural emotion that we definitely wanted to explore among the sad bits, the action-packed bits, the dramatic bits – to have a really fleshed-out, multiple-genre film.

Quips. I’m pretty sure he means there’s lots of quipping even when there shouldn’t be.

This is unfortunate because I was looking forward to a new D&D movie. I even like Courtney Solomon’s 2001 film, even with the wonky casting and Jeremey Irons chewing the scenery like a madman. That Dungeons & Dragons film was terrible for all the right reasons and is still watchable today, especially with friends during Bad Movie Night.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves will premiere in US theatres on March 31st. It stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, and Hugh Grant.

Google’s CEO Tells Remaining Employees It Could Have Been Worse

0

With 12,000 jobs set to be cut from Google, the company’s CEO Sundar Pichai told the remaining staff that things could have been grim if action hadn’t been taken. So how bad would things have been without these layoffs? It’s unclear from the Bloomberg article we scoped out.

Pichai stated that the decision to nix 6% of Google’s workforce needed to be done to advertise what sounds like a pending disaster, “If you don’t act clearly and decisively and early, we can compound the problem and make it much worse. These are decisions I needed to make.

Staffers were unsure that cuts were coming, as it sounded like top management was not forthcoming. But, according to Bloomberg, an unspecified number of employees discovered they were among the jobless when their access to particular internal Google systems was revoked. This, sadly, is typical of many companies. Before laying off an employee, they’ll lose access to e-mail, usually over a lunch break or when called into a meeting.

The company’s CPO (chief people officer or “hiring director,” if you’re not being pompous), Fiona Cicconi, explained that due to the company’s size, the decisions about who would be cut and how much of the employee base would be affected had to be kept close to the chest, “In an ideal world, we would have given managers a heads up, but we have over 30,000 managers at Google. We wanted to give certainty sooner.

The tech industry has seen relatively large layoffs in the past few months. For example, Microsoft plans on eliminating 10k positions throughout the 2023 fiscal year. Late last year, we saw Amazon contemplating a similar number of terminations, and Meta topped that number by axing 11k employees.

The problems are from several different issues. Overhiring during the pandemic, a change in consumer habits, and the overall cost of investing in new technology are all contributing factors. Microsoft and Google will probably come out of this in a better position, but it’s unclear if Meta can keep the ship afloat.
