‘John Wick’ Actor Keanu Reeves Reunites With Rock Band Dogstar

Keanu Reeves has made a splash in pop culture with several iconic film roles including Neo from ‘The Matrix,’ John Wick in the self-titled action thrillers, Theodore Logan in the comedy trilogy ‘Bill & Ted,’ and that is just a start. Besides acting, he was also a bassist and backup vocalist for the rock band Dogstar. The trio which also includes drummer Robert Mailhouse as well as lead singer and guitarist Bret Domrose, reunited for a reunion concert at the BottleRock Napa Valley music festival.

In an interview with Billboard magazine, Reeves spoke about their reunion and whether he would “make time for” the band.

“It’s not ‘make time for it,’” he said. “It’s something that’s part of my life.”

“I missed playing together, I missed writing together, I missed doing shows together. It’s something I’ve always missed,” Reeves continued. “We came to a spot where we weren’t playing anymore, and I missed it … Once we started to play, and it felt good, and really positive and creative, that’s when it was like, ‘Okay, let’s make this happen.’”

The ‘Knock Knock’ actor also teased a possible album from the group saying, “I think all three of us just said, ‘Well, if we’re going to do this, let’s make a record.’”

“We played the catalog songs, and then we can’t help it — we just started writing,” he explained. “It’s a space that I love and a space that I tried to protect.”

A portion of their performance was captured on video:

After touring as a cover band in 1994, Dogstar’s first album was the 1996 EP ‘Quattro Formaggi’ which was released by Zoo Entertainment who also produced their second album ‘Our Little Visionary’ that same year. Their third album ‘Happy Ending’ was released in 2000 under the record label Ultimatum Music.

Singer and guitarist Gregg Miller originally sang lead vocals for the band before departing in 1995.

New ‘Resident Evil: Vendetta’ Chris Redfield & Leon Statues Announced

The merchandising machine has started now that the Resident Evil 4 remake’s release is closing in. Kotobukiya has announced two ARTFX statues based on two of the long-running survival horror game’s most iconic characters.

Schedule for release in August, Kotobukiya will re-release 1/6 scale versions of Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield. These PVC collectibles are based on the characters’ appearances in Resident Evil: Vendetta, a CGI movie that was released in 2017.

The Big Bad Toy Store has both statues listed for a September release. Chris is $169.99, and Leon is $159.99.

This statue sees Leon in the Center Axis Relock stance, a close combat shooting technique used by everyone from law enforcement agents to Hollywood and video game characters. Note the details of Leon’s signature Sentinel Nine, a custom handgun designed for anti-bioterrorism, with a dedicated flash suppressor and high-capacity magazine.

Chris is donning his classic, heavy-duty, anti-B.O.W. combat gear. The unit insignia of the “Silver Dagger,” a small, elite BSAA counterterrorism unit, is displayed on both arms.

Yes, Resident Evil: Vendetta is better than the W.S. Anderson movies. It’s not perfect, but at least it’s in the same universe as the games and isn’t just a vehicle for the director’s wife.

Recently, Sony Pictures Entertainment announced a new movie for Capcom’s horror franchise. Resident Evil: Death Island is slated for release sometime over the Summer!

If you’re looking for more Resident Evil merchandise, check out the super hot 3′ tall Lady Dimistrescu statue or this other Leon collectible. What other characters from Capcom’s series would you like to see get the premium collectible treatment? Let us know in the comments section below!

He didn’t have much talent at hunting dragons but he had decided to entrust his whole life for her. However he was shown the feel of true despair by his future self on what would happen if he stays weak as he is now. With that, it seems that the reaper of the dragons had now appeared earlier than the original history, but will it be enough to change the future?”

Sentai Filmworks announced at the Anime Expo 2022 that they had licensed the anime for release in the United States.

Nintendo Tries to Block Dolphin Emulator Release on Steam

The ongoing war between Nintendo and piracy rages on as the company continues its effort to push back users from pirating Nintendo Switch games. Like clockwork, Nintendo fans can expect to see something about Nintendo and piracy popping up in the news often. After the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for the Switch, Nintendo has seemingly ramped up its vigilance against piracy, with multiple instances of the company taking action against websites that have hosted tools and resources for pirated software. Now the company is taking aim at Valve’s Steam platform because of the infamous Dolphin emulator.

After sending a cease & desist notice to Valve, the popular Wii and GameCube emulator was removed from Steam listings. Originally appearing on the Steam storefront back in March 2023, Dolphin is an emulator used by many to play various Nintendo games and other third-party titles for those platforms. For those who use a Steamdeck to play games, interest in retro software has increased. Sof or them, the planned release of Dolphin to be compatible with Steamdeck sounded great. But it’s also because of this that Nintendo states the emulator allows users to play their games illegally, going around copyright protections and causing harm to the work of game developers.

Nintendo put a big halt on any plans for Dolphin on Steam after sending the cease & desist to Valve, causing them to delist the software from the storefront. On May 27th, the developers of the Dolphin software shared a statement about what happened. “It is with much disappointment that we have to announce that the Dolphin on Steam release has been indefinitely postponed… We were notified by Valve that Nintendo has issued a cease and desist citing the DMCA against Dolphin’s Steam page, and have removed Dolphin from Steam until the matter is settled. We are currently investigating our options and will have a more in-depth response in the near future. We appreciate your patience in the meantime…”

Copies of the legal notice sent by Nintendo have floated around, with some outlets obtaining a copy and reporting on it. According to a copy obtained and reported on by PC Gamer, Nintendo addressed Vavle’s legal department and stated their reason for blocking the release of Dolphin on Steam. “Because the Dolphin emulator violates Nintendo’s intellectual property rights, including but not limited to its rights under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA)’s Anti-Circumvention and AntiTrafficking provisions, 17 U.S.C. § 1201, we provide this notice to you of your obligation to remove the offering of the Dolphin emulator from the Steam store…”

The same report on PC Gamer also has an update after speaking with Kellen Voyer, a lawyer of Voyer Law, who says that Nintendo’s request is not a DMCA takedown but a very stern request. “I would characterize this NOT as a DMCA take down notice and instead as a warning shot that the software, Dolphin, if released on Steam would (in Nintendo’s view) violate the DMCA… Here, there is no allegation that Valve is currently hosting anything that infringes Nintendo’s copyright or, more broadly, violates the DMCA. Rather, Nintendo is sending clear notice to Valve that it considers Dolphin to violate the DMCA and should it be released on Steam, Nintendo will likely take further action. Given that Valve controls what is available on its store, it made the decision not to wade into any dispute between the Dolphin developers and Nintendo and, instead, followed Nintendo’s preemptive request and took down the Steam page.”

For now, the Dolphin Emulator is remaining off Steam. As of reporting, no official statement from either Valve has been given. Nintendo on the other hand gave a statement in an email to Kotaku shortly after the news came out. “Nintendo is committed to protecting the hard work and creativity of video game engineers and developers… This emulator illegally circumvents Nintendo’s protection measures and runs illegal copies of games. Using illegal emulators or illegal copies of games harms development and ultimately stifles innovation. Nintendo respects the intellectual property rights of other companies, and in turn expects others to do the same.” Anyone that was looking to use the emulator on a Steamdeck to play various Wii and GameCube games might be out of luck here.

What do you think about Nintendo going after Steam over the Dolphin emulator? Are things going to get messier? Leave a comment down below with your thoughts about everything!

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Developer Apologizes For Bad Game

Fans of Tolkien and Middle-Earth are not having a great year so far. The release of Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series was very divisive among fans, but another Lord of the Rings project also made waves for bad reasons. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was released for multiple platforms to a very poor reception, with many calling it the worst game release of 2023. Things were so bad, that now the developer of the game has come out to address the concerns of many Tolkien fans who were looking forward to playing the game. But it might be too little, too late for some.

The developers of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, Daedalic, posted up a message addressing fans on their official Twitter page. The team wanted to apologize to everyone in their community for the poor state of the game, as well as express regret for not meeting expectations set for themselves with Gollum. The statement went on to cite the difficulties of creating a game set in Middle-Earth and the challenges that came with trying to make a story-driven game that was compelling for Tolkien fans. The statement also made it clear that the development team was dedicated to fixing many of the technical issues that plague The Lord of the Rings: Gollum with upcoming patches and updates to improve the overall experience.

A lot of the discourse about the game online comes from the price point being set at $60, with a special edition priced at $70 that comes with extra voice-over tracks and emotes. With how disastrous the launch has been, many brought up how such a release sets a bad precedent for the industry. Many of the responses to Daedalic’s post on Twitter have been overwhelmingly negative, with some bringing up refunds for their purchase and encouraging others to avoid buying it altogether. Some have even suggested only picking up The Lord of the Rings: Gollum only after the price was heavily discounted.

As of right now, the Metacritic rating for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is at 36 critic score. Around 35 different critics from various outlets have reviewed the game, giving it either mixed or poor review scores, with user reviews being a lot harsher. Many of the common complaints about the game include game-breaking bugs, horrible technical issues during gameplay, and visuals that look very bad when compared to other modern releases. Some have also pointed out that much of the text was written poorly, with multiple spelling and grammar issues of text displayed in-game.

Content creators that have played Gollum since its release has been able to showcase many of the big issues in it and their reactions firsthand, with many saying it’s one of the worst games to come out in 2023. Some have compared the release of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum to that of Redfall on Xbox Series consoles, another game that also had a terrible release and poor reception.

Whether Daedalic makes a genuine effort to fix the state of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum or not is anyone’s guess. Despite the apology from the development team, most players seem to have already checked out and branded the game as terrible. Even if patches and subsequent updates were to greatly improve everything, it might be impossible to get back all of the players who have already made up their minds about the game. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum might be one of the biggest failures for Daedalic to date. The game is currently out now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

What do you think about The Lord of the Rings: Gollum? Are you disappointed by the state of the game and the apology from the studio? Post your thoughts down below in the comment section and let us know!

Bryan Fury Joins Tekken 8 in Gameplay Reveal Trailer

Bandai Namco continues to announce more characters joining the roster of Tekken 8. While the surprise reveal had leaked out a bit earlier than intended, the official unveiling of the next Tekken 8 character was shown during Combo Breaker 2023. While some hardcore Tekken fans already knew who was coming from the leak, others who weren’t seeing things online were surprised to see the reveal of Bryan Fury being added to Tekken 8. The wild card of destruction is bringing hard hits and powerful combos with him into the latest entry of the Tekken series.

The reveal trailer that was shown by Bandai Namco at Combo Breaker 2023 features Bryan Fury battling against the new Jack model for Tekken 8. Many of Bryan’s juggle combos are showcased in the brief trailer, all of which look and feel devastating. The trailer also shows a brief exchange between Bryan and fellow Tekken alumni Paul Phoenix, where the two of them clash punches before going at it. Of course, being a trailer focusing on Bryan Fury, he gets the upper hand on Paul.

The new Tekken 8 mechanics during combat are also shown with Bryan during his fights with Jack and Paul. The Heat system with its Engager tactics, Heat Burst, and Heat Dash will be a perfect fit for Bryan Fury players, who love aggressive tactics in matches. The former cop turned psycho cyborg also has a devastating Rage Art that players will love to see, with Bryan unleashing a flurry of punches before targeting an opponent for a massively powerful attack.

Bryan Fury joins the Tekken 8 roster shortly after the reveals of other classic Tekken fighters King and Hwoarang. Like those two characters, the first appearance of Bryan in the Tekken series was in Tekken 3 on the original PlayStation and arcades. Since his first appearance, Bryan Fury has been featured in every Tekken game that followed. Players who love to play with Bryan often cite the heavy emphasis on aggressive tactics and powerful attacks paired with great juggle combos. Other characters who were recently announced for Tekken 8 recently included Lili, another fan-favorite character from later Tekken games.

At the moment, there is no specific release date for Tekken 8. But the game is set to come out for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and PC. Hopefully, in the coming months, we get to see more announcements of characters being added to the roster and a release date in 2023. Multiple fighting game franchises, including Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, are set to have new games released in 2023. It wouldn’t be a bad idea for Tekken 8 to also come out around the same time, much to the delight of fighting game players around the world.

What do you think of the reveal trailer for Bryan Fury? Are you going to play Tekken 8 when it finally comes out? Share your thoughts about everything down below in the comment section!

Michelangelo is Heat Boys’ Next TMNT Mech Figure!

More Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles mech figure is here! Michelangelo joins his brother Leo as a 9″ tall Gundam-like TMNT robot.

I was wondering how they’d handle Mikey’s limited weapons. Instead of several variations of nunchucks, Mikey comes with some Heavy Arms-inspired weaponry. If you were a fan of Gundam Wing, this green and orange bot is a must-have.

The party-loving Turtle comes with loads of missiles, arm-mounted twin Gatling guns, and even more missiles! Of course, I’d expect lots of accessories considering Mikey will cost you $179.99 via the Big Bad Toy Store.

Michelangelo also comes with a mini Mikey figure and parts for the series’s ‘Build the Party Wagon’ gimmick. The mech stands 9″ tall and is made out of plastic and diecast parts.

Months ago, we talked about Heat Boys’ Leonardo mech. That figure has recently hit the market, and people are liking it from the reviews we’ve seen. Check out JobbytheHong’s review of it here.

It’s 1999 All Over Again With This ‘Sonic Adventure’ Statue

I remember the day I got a SEGA Dreamcast. So many memories. Driving 30 miles to the only store, Sears, that had them in stock. Spending my entire Walden Books paycheck on every launch game. Getting home, plugging it in, and thinking there’s no way gaming could ever get better than the experience Sonic Adventure brought us.

OK. I was way wrong. The Dreamcast faltered, and gaming has made giant leaps (and several stumbles) since 1999. However, Sonic is still chugging along, for better or for worse. While his games may be meh, the Sonic the Hedgehog collectibles are still tits!

As is expected, every time we cover First4Figures collectibles, there’s more than one version of the statue to choose from. With Sonic, surprisingly, the company is only producing two:

SONIC ADVENTURE - SONIC THE HEDGEHOG PVC (COLLECTOR'S EDITION)

  • SONIC ADVENTURE – SONIC THE HEDGEHOG PVC (DEFINITIVE EDITION)
    • Sonic Adventure – Sonic the Hedgehog PVC painted statue
    • Highly detailed base inspired by the Sonic Adventure video game art style
    • Additional resin ring sculpture
    • Two LED functions in the ring (static and animated)
    • LED function in the base (static only)
    • Knob for adjusting speed of animated LED in the ring
    • Limited edition numbering
    • Authentication card

The Collector’s version comes with a light-up base, while the Definitive Edition features an additional LED-powered piece. It comes in the form of a blue ring. Odd F4F didn’t opt for a glowing gold ring.

Although the difference between the two isn’t huge, it is enough to warrant vastly different price tags. The Collector’s Edition of Sonic is $119.99, while the Definitive blue hedgehog is $279.99.

Review: Puzzle Bobble Everybubble! – Popping Puzzles

A classic arcade series that everyone fondly remembers is Bubble Bobble. The combination of cute characters and lighthearted visuals with challenging gameplay has appealed to many for years. But every now and then a long-running series needs to mix things up and try something new to offer a fresh experience. This is what Puzzle Bobble Everybubble! tries to do with its focus on quick puzzles and a silly story. Anyone with a taste for easy to jump into games will have fun with it, but others might find it a bit too repetitive.

The plot in Puzzle Bobble Everybubble! is simple and cutesy. The Miniroons on Rainbow Island overflow the area with bubbles and cause many problems for everyone who lives there. In order to set things right, the bubble dragon Bub and his friends get together and try to burst all of the bubbles that are overflowing the island, while helping save the Miniroons in the process. It’s a surface-level story that is only really there to round off the gameplay, so you can’t expect anything too deep or complex. Most Japanese mascot characters like the ones in Bubble Bobble have similar plots for the games they’re part of, keeping a focus on the gameplay more than anything else.

But is the gameplay itself any good? If you’ve played any Bubble Bobble game, you’ll feel right at home. All you have to do is match the colors of the bubbles in groups of 3 or more, popping them and clearing space on the board. For Puzzle Bobble Everybubble! you’ll need to accomplish different objectives that come up in each stage. Sometimes you’ll have to rescue the Miniroons trapped inside bubbles, clear the board of all bubbles before time runs out, and even finish the stage with special conditions given. It’s a very simple gameplay loop that becomes fun when you have a grasp on how to shoot bubbles at different angles, leading to big groups of bubbles bursting and fast stage completion rates.

Where the puzzle element comes into play is when you have to clear a stage with different bubble layouts and other obstacles are laid before you. You’ll often find boxes, bombs, and other special bubbles that you can use to your advantage to clear a stage. Things can get pretty challenging when the answer to clearing a group of bubbles isn’t always clear, or when you’ll need to take a few steps beforehand in order to find the right answer to clearing the stage. Often it’ll be more obvious than you realize, especially if you have a good grasp on how to angle your shots and plan ahead. To its credit, the game never gets to a point of feeling impossible to clear a stage, not unless you mess up enough times and need to restart a stage. If you take your time instead of rushing through, you’ll find the puzzles to be very manageable and clever.

But this is something that can get repetitive very quickly. While the story mode has you traveling around Rainbow Island to clear the bubbles lingering around, you’re still playing very similar games the entire time. The puzzles for each stage are different, but there’s little to no variety with what you’re actually doing. At the same time, the cutscenes that break up the gameplay aren’t always enough to make progression for good. You might get a short cutscene with some dialogue and then end up playing multiple stages afterward that feels all too similar to the ones you just got through. For some, this is a game where you can go in and out of quickly, much like other portable experiences, that feels right when you just want to get through a few puzzles. For others, it will feel like the repetition will be too much.

One section on the Rainbow Island map does offer something different when you finally unlock it. The Baron’s Tower lets you play on boards to get high scores and compare them to other players online. The games have bubbles that continuously appear automatically, with more points being obtained when you drop and pop more bubbles. There are multiple difficulties to choose from, but you need to play through each one successively to unlock them all. This can be fun if you like to set high scores, but it’s not as competitive as one might think.

Multiplayer is mostly cooperative in Story Mode, but you can play Vs Mode and compete against each other. What’s great is that you can set CPU players in both modes if you’re playing alone and want to try things out. There is online multiplayer to find others to play with online, which has global matchmaking and private matches with passwords. Online play quality will vary depending on your internet connection, but you might struggle to find other players online unless you plan to play with someone beforehand. AT its best games go very smoothly, but at worse, some games might be completely unplayable.

Puzzle Bobble Everybubble! won’t be for everyone, but it does have some good things that work. The repetitiveness may be hard for most to get over if you aren’t already into the series. The Story Mode is a nice thing to get into playing, but this isn’t a plot you’ll remember after you’re done playing it. You’ll enjoy the co-op or versus multiplayer if you spend time with it, despite the online matches varying in quality. If anything, this is a game you’ll want to play sporadically. Getting in for some puzzles and out after a bit, that way you won’t grow bored of the repetitiveness and won’t get tired of the cute and colorful characters.

Would you check out Puzzle Bobble Everybubble! on the Nintendo Switch? Are you a fan of the Bubble Bobble series? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
