Tekken 8 Brings in Hwoarang with New Trailer

Fighting game fans are eating very well this year, with a ton of big titles like Tekken 8 over the horizon. While there’s no definitive release date for Tekken 8 on consoles, publisher Bandai Namco has been releasing new trailers frequently to showcase characters that will be included on the new roster. While there are not many new characters announced for the game, longtime fans of Tekken have been happy with all of the returning characters they know and love appearing in Tekken 8. If you’ve been playing since Tekken 3, then you have another classic character to look forward to.

Recently, Bandai Namco posted a trailer online announcing the return of Hwoarang for the roster of Tekken 8. The trailer showcases a new look and brand new gameplay of Hwoarang in action, which is bound to make a lot of fans happy. The new gameplay has Hwoarang taking on other classic Tekken characters like Nina Williams and longtime rival Jin Kazama, with devastating attacks landing and incredible-looking visuals.

Anyone that has been playing the Tekken series since Tekken 3 on the original PlayStation will be familiar with Hwoarang and his fighting style. Hwoarang is a student of another classic Tekken fighter, Baek Doo San, and practices the martial art of Taekwondo. His arsenal of attacks is filled with powerful kicks that can be long-reaching and counters, as well as great combos that juggle opponents.

Since his first appearance in Tekken 3, Hwoarang has appeared in every new release of the series and continues to have a rivalry with characters like Jin Kazama. He’s also known for driving around on a motorcycle, which is prominently featured in his introduction in the Tekken 8 announcement trailer.

It’s definitely a safe bet that we’ll be seeing more announcement trailers for Tekken 8, showing more characters that will be added to the roster of fighters. Besides classic fighters like Hwoarang, many fans are eager to know what guest characters will make an appearance in Tekken 8. The game’s predecessor broke ground for the series by including multiple guest fighters from a variety of video game series and properties. Games like Street Fighter, KOF, and Final Fantasy were able to have characters make a cameo in Tekken 7, as well as Negan from AMC’s The Walking Dead television show. For now, it feels like anything is fair game for who might be a guest character in Tekken 8. Fans of Tekken may find out soon when Tekken 8 is eventually released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
