Candace Cameron Bure’s TV Dad Bob Saget Defends Her From Critics Calling Her “Fake”

0

Bob Saget, best known for playing Danny Tanner on ‘Full House,’ defended his “TV daughter” Candace Cameron Bure, who played the eldest sibling DJ Tanner on the sitcom.
While speaking to Saget on his “Here For You” podcast, Bure explained that she gets accused of being “fake” because of her upbeat personality, according to Today.
Saget replied that she is the “opposite of fake” and that she was “raised all positive” with “a lot of love and a lot of family.”
“When you are doing anything, you don’t phone it in,” he said. “You’re a businesswoman. You sell things and you try to put your branding on it. That means something to you. You’re not going to sell something that doesn’t mean anything to you, and you’re not faking. … It’s beautiful the way you’re doing it, and you’re doing it earnest. And I’m sorry you’re perky sometimes! What’s wrong with being perky?”
“When you watch the old episodes (of Full House), when it first started, you did have that positive light in your eyes that I did at 10 years old,” he continued. “You had a very positive glow about you, period.”
“That’s what you were like,” Saget said. “And that doesn’t mean you don’t become a teenager and go through the stuff that girls and women and men and boys go through. You know, you’re a positive person. So if you’re perky, it’s because you’re excited and/or you’ve had a lot of caffeine.”
Bure elaborated that it is hard for her to ignore criticism “when people are annoyed that I’m such a happy person,” she added. “I’m just like, let someone speak into this who’s known me since I was 9 years old.”
“That’s what people should know,” Saget replied. “There’s nothing fake about you.”
‘Full House’ produced 192 episodes across eight seasons. The two would reprise their roles as Danny and DJ Tanner in the sequel series ‘Fuller House,’ which ran for seventy-five episodes, concluding with the fifth season on Netflix.

‘Wolverine’ Actor Hugh Jackman To Executive Produce And Star In ‘The Son’ Film Adaption

‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’ actor Hugh Jackman is set to star in a film adaption of the stage play ‘The Son,’ the third in playwright Florian Zeller’s trilogy of family dramas.
The movie version will be produced by Zeller and Christophe Spadone. This is their second collaboration after the Oscar-nominated version of ‘The Father,’ starring Anthony Hopkins. Zeller will direct.
According to Deadline, Jackman will not only star in the film but will also serve as executive producer. The ‘Kate and Leopold’ star will play Peter, the father of the protagonist Nicholas, who is suffering after his parents’ divorce. ‘Jurassic Park’ star Laura Dern also joins the cast as Kate, Peter’s ex-wife.
“The Son is a deeply human story which, I believe, connects us all; I hope audiences will be profoundly moved by this family’s journey,” Zeller told Deadline. “Both Hugh and Laura naturally convey great warmth, compassion, and vulnerability… inviting our audience to embrace and feel every moment. The story is set in a vibrant and very much alive New York, an important character. The movie should make us call family and friends to tell them that they are wholly loved and not alone.”
“Having been lucky enough to see ‘The Father’ at Sundance 2019, we knew that Florian was a uniquely talented filmmaker,” Producer Emile Sherman added. “‘The Son’ is a story that needs to be told — a story that rings an alarm. Through examining the human condition and our vulnerabilities, this film will strike a chord with audiences and leave an indelible mark on all who see it.”
‘The Father’ has been nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture. It previously won two BAFTAs including Best Actor in a Leading Role for Anthony Hopkins.
Playbill reports ‘The Son’ is the third chapter in the series. ‘The Mother’ is the final chapter.

New Photos Showcasing Nicole Kidman As Lucille Ball Released

Photos of Nicole Kidman channeling ‘I Love Lucy’ sitcom star Lucille Ball were released, showing the ‘Aquaman’ actress with a wig on the set of ‘Being the Ricardos.’

“She’s an amazing woman,” Kidman said of Ball in an interview with Variety. “I’m very excited for people to see what Aaron found out about her and the way he’s interpreted Desi and Lucy and the way that it’s so rich. I didn’t know any of this.”
The movie is a biopic that also stars Javier Bardem as Cuban-American actor Desi Arnaz, Ball’s divorced husband, co-star, and business partner. ‘The Trial of the Chicago 7’ director Aaron Sorkin is set to helm the project.
Some fans expressed a lack of enthusiasm over the casting choices of Kidman and Bardem, respectively. However, Lucille and Desi’s daughter, Lucie Arnaz, who is also executive producing the movie, reassured fans that the casting was done with great care.
“My brother Desi and I signed on because this is a story of our folk’s real-life passionate, tempestuous and complicated relationship and not a recreation of I Love Lucy—no one could do that,” she said according to E Magazine. “We felt exploring that relationship could be an enlightening challenge. We asked Amazon for the best and we got it with every hire. Aaron Sorkin has not told this tale as a ‘cradle to grave’ biopic. Instead, he’s chosen to illuminate a snippet of time during an incredibly intense period of their show’s enduring success.”
Sorkin also defended the casting.
“I think that the people thought that we’ve cast them as Lucy and Ricky Ricardo,” the director said according to People Magazine. “The film takes place during a production week of ‘I Love Lucy’ – a Monday table read to Friday audience taping, with a whole bunch of long flashbacks which are telling the story that got us here – and because there’s a table read, there’s rehearsals and then there’s tape night, we do see moments of them being Lucy and Ricky Ricardo.”

‘Godzilla Destruction’ Mobile Game Premiering On April 27th

0

There is a major shortage of giant monsters destroying cityscapes in the world of video games. It’s a basic premise, really. Large, bulky, scaly creatures trample on buildings while humans throw impotent missiles at them. Rinse, repeat.
Why is this not a genre that is being capitalized on? I’m a simple man with simple needs.
Toho has heard our calls and is planning on delivering. Within a couple of weeks, a new ‘Godzilla’ game full of explosions and crumbling buildings will be hitting our mobile phones.
Figures.com brought the word that one of the new ‘Godzilla’ games will be dropping on mobile platforms on April 27th.

Toho
Toho
The game is “free-to-play.” The structure of the various tiers and currencies used in the game wasn’t shown in the new trailer. What we do get to see is a simple gameplay style. Swipe and destroy works for me when it comes to giant monsters.
The game will be available on the App Store and Google Play.

I’m not much of a mobile video game enthusiast but am a sucker for Godzilla games. Regardless of the platform, I’m always willing to try out kaiju-on-kaiju action.

Liam Neeson Joins The Cast Of Action Film ‘Memory’

‘Batman Begins’ actor Liam Neeson joins the cast of ‘Memory,’ an action film from ‘GoldenEye’ and ‘Casino Royale’ director Martin Campbell.
The ensemble cast also features Guy Pearce (Iron Man 3), Monica Bellucci (On the Milky Road), Harold Torres (ZeroZeroZero), Taj Atwal (Truth Seekers), and Ray Fearon.
Neeson will portray Alex Lewis, an “expert assassin” who has “a reputation for discreet precision.” Collider reports that the movie is being filmed in Bulgaria.
According to Variety, the film follows Alex who refuses to complete a job for a dangerous criminal organization, he becomes a target and must go on the hunt for those who want him dead. Veteran FBI agents Vincent Serra (Pearce), Linda Amistead (Atwal) and Mexican intelligence liaison Hugo Marquez (Torres) are brought in to investigate the trail of bodies, leading them closer to Alex, but also drawing the ire of local tech mogul Davana Sealman (Bellucci). With the crime syndicate and FBI in hot pursuit, Alex has the skills to stay ahead, except for one thing — he is struggling with severe memory loss, affecting his every move. As details blur and enemies close in, Alex must question his every action, and who he can ultimately trust.
This is familiar territory for Neeson, who has been featured in several action films including ‘The Taken’ trilogy, ‘Unknown,’ ‘The Commuter,’ ‘Clash of the Titans,’ and its sequel ‘Wrath of the Titans.’ He also continues to work in dramas such as ‘Ordinary Love’ and ‘Made In Italy.’
Scriptwriter Dario Scardapane is basing the action flick on “De Zaak Alzheimer,” a novel by Jef Geeraerts as well as the Belgium film “The Memory of a Killer,” directed by Erik Van Looy.
Financing will be provided by Black Bear Pictures with Michael Heimler and Arthur Sarkissian producing. Oscar-winning Welle Entertainment exec Cathy Schulman and Rupert Maconick. STX will handle international distribution.

Hugh Jackman May Return As Wolverine Depending On The Script

When you leave a role on a powerful note, that should be it for the character. At least, the actor’s interpretation of the character. ‘Logan’ sent Wolverine into the great beyond and wrapped up the story of the loner X-Man pretty well. It was sad to see him go, but he went out in the fashion you’d expect if you were a fan of the comics.
Yet, Hollywood wants to resurrect him.
We’ve Got This Covered is reporting that Disney wants the man who has played Wolverine since 2000 back in the saddle. When Jackman was approached with this idea, he rebuffed it as it could diminish the sendoff Logan got in his 2017 film.
Given that the MARVEL universe is known for having several alternate dimensions and timelines, you could technically bring in a new/different version of Wolverine. Allegedly this idea piqued Jackman’s interest from “nah” to an inquisitive “ooook.”
The entirety of Jackman’s interpretation of the runt would depend on the script. MCU films are mostly friendly for all ages. There may be some swearing and some blood, but mostly it’s safe for most audiences. When you end on the note ‘Logan’ did, it’s hard to go back and tone down this character.
Wolverine is the best at what he does, but what he does isn’t very nice. Will the Logan of the Fox era fit in with the MARVEL heroes of the MCU? I’d rather see more of ‘Logan’ Wolverine than the original series, honestly. Perhaps that means leaving Jackman out of it.
I grew up during a time when Wolverine had some rather dark storylines and hyper-violent battles. When the hero with claws was a less refined and more brutish mutant. A man whose past was a mystery within a mystery. Could the MARVEL brand under Disney handle Wolverine at his most savage?

What are your favorite Wolverine moments from Hugh Jackman? Did he deliver what you envisioned the character would be on screen? Who do you think could improve the role? Let us know in the comments.

‘Batman Beyond’ May See Michael Keaton Out And Christian Bale In

The role of a much older, crankier Bruce Wayne was supposed to go to the Batman of 1989, Michael Keaton. The man who once helped launch comic book movies into the real of serious cinema would have made an appearance in the ‘The Flash’ film starring Ezra Miller. However, due to the actor’s concerns about Covid-19, Keaton’s future involvement in the ongoing DC film series may be in jeopardy.
We’ve Got This Covered is reporting that rumors are circulating about another former Batman taking up the mantle again. Yes, Val Kilmer is very interested in dropping the weight, re-chiseling his jawline, and suiting up for ‘Bat Nipples In The Future.’
Only kidding. It’s, in fact, George Clooney who will be returning.
Ok, it’s not the handsome Clooney either. The scuttlebutt is that Warner Brothers may be eyeing Christian Bale. Though, when I think of the aged and bitter Wayne, Bale isn’t the first actor to come to mind. He was a good Bruce, no doubt, but I can’t see him in heavy makeup trying to train Terry McGinnis.
Keep in mind that this is all speculation. Keaton’s concerns about Covid exposure are probably valid. I haven’t been on a movie set since the lockdowns happened, but trying to keep an entire studio virus-free has to be one hell of a task. Given the greater risk with age, his departure maybe concrete.
Watching Ezra Miller square off with Keaton’s Batman would have been entertaining. Well, if they found a way to make Miller’s version of the Flash more than just a quipster.
What are your thoughts on the Flashpoint storyline ‘The Flash’ movie is supposedly going to adapt? Will it be a way to rewrite Snyder’s films and restart the DCEU? Let us know in the comments.
While we wait for WB to get things together, let’s enjoy that awesome intro to ‘Batman Beyond.’

Dwayne Johnson Teases Another Presidential Run

0

‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ star Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson teased another run for the White House in an interview with The Today Show.
“I do have that goal to unite our country,” the former WWE wrestler explained on the Sunday Sitdown. “I also feel that, if this is what the people want, then I will do that.”
Johnson said, “I am passionate about making sure that our country is united because a united country, as we know, is the strongest, and I want to see that for our country.”
This is not the first time that ‘Race to Witch Mountain’ star has suggested he has presidential ambitions.
In February, he told USA Today, “I would consider a presidential run in the future if that’s what the people wanted.” Johnson added. “Truly I mean that, and I’m not flippant in any way with my answer. That would be up to the people…So I would wait, and I would listen. I would have my finger on the pulse, my ear to the ground.”
He elaborated on Twitter after a poll showing forty-six percent of responders would want him to run for the White House.
“Not sure our Founding Fathers ever envisioned a six-four, bald, tattooed, half-Black, half-Samoan, tequila drinking, pick up truck driving, fanny pack wearing guy joining their club – but if it ever happens it’d be my honor to serve the people,” he wrote.

The Rock’s comments about entering the political field have gone back as far as 2017. During an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Johnson told the talk show host that, “I’m seriously considering it, yes” when she asked him directly.
The ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ actor describes himself as “politically independent” and a “centrist” politically, writer Paul Bois notes.
Johnson is set to star in the adventure flick ‘Jungle Cruise’ as Captain Frank Wolff, the action-comedy ‘Red Notice,’ and will headline the DCEU’s ‘Black Adam.’

‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ ReAction Figures’ Preorders Available Now

0

I missed the days when Playmates was churning out ‘Star Trek’ action figures at a breakneck pace. Every character, no matter how obscure, would make it into plastic posable form. Yes, even Neelix had a toy.
According to Figures.com, the Playmates days may be far behind us, but Super7 has taken up the slack, according to Figures.com. The company that was also responsible for carrying on the ‘Masters of the Universe’ Classics line is expanding the ReAction figure line to include ‘Star Trek.’
Right now, preorders have started for the first line of figures based on ‘The Next Generation’ television series. With only a few points of articulation, these toys harken back to the late ’70s and ’80s action figures we grew up with.
This initial release will feature the following characters:

  • Picard
  • Worf
  • Data
  • Borg Drone
  • Guinan
  • Wesley Crusher
Super7
I’m pretty stoked for all of them, with the exception of Wesley. What fun adventures could you have with the young Crusher? I guess you could subject him to various tortures involving the sun and a magnifying glass.
That’s an interesting assortment of characters for sure. Rather than releasing figures in a chronological order based on seasons, we get a mix-n-match from the first and second seasons. Hopefully, we’ll see Q and Riker in the next series.
Sadly there’s no Tasha Yar. I’m not saying that I’d pose her in suggestive positions with Data … but I’d totally pose her in suggestive positions with Data.
The ReAction figure line has been going strong for years. Action figures from several ’80s properties, including ‘MOTU,’ ‘TMNT,’ and ‘Back to the Future.’ At last, you can have a super mashup adventure of so many IPs without having to suffer through ‘Ready Player One.’

‘Star Trek: Strange New World’s Producer Reveals Show ‘Is Very Much Adventure-of-the-Week’

0

Star Trek has faced some adversity in recent years. While critically acclaimed, the reception of series ‘Discovery’ and ‘Picard’ has been tepid by the fans. However, Anson Mount’s portrayal as favorite character Captain Pike has been widely praised by critics and fans alike.
This led to the announcement of ‘Star Trek: Strange New World,’ which discusses the history of Captain Pike as commanding officer of the USS Enterprise with Mount reprising the role. Pike was the CO prior to Captain James Kirk, played by William Shatner in the Original Series.
Little has been revealed by production company CBS other than the initial announcement as the filming was delayed due to the lockdown.
Producer and showrunner Akiva Goldsman, who is also directing the pilot, discussed the series with The Hollywood Reporter and the direction it is going.
“It’s unlike the other shows in that it’s really episodic,” he said. “If you think back to The Original Series, it was a tonally more liberal — I don’t mean in terms of politics, but it could sort of be more fluid. Like sometimes Robert Bloch would write a horror episode. Or Harlan Ellison would have ‘City on the Edge of Forever,’ which is hard sci-fi. Then there would be comedic episodes, like ‘Shore Leave’ or ‘The Trouble With Tribbles.'”
He continued, “So [co-showrunner] Henry Alonso Myers and myself are trying to serve that. We’ve all become very enamored, myself included, with serialized storytelling. And I’m talking to you from behind the stage where we’re shooting Picard, which is deeply serialized. But Strange New Worlds is very much adventure-of-the-week but with serialized character arcs.”
When asked about set designs and costume changes, Goldman insisted the show would strive to keep things within the canon.
He said, “It’s a fine line because obviously, we want to keep continuity with the storytelling and the style, but we also want Strange New Worlds to be a different show. It’s not Discovery. There are a few more reach-backs (to The Original Series) and the uniforms have been adjusted slightly, the sets are slightly different. Remember the Enterprise existed as a little piece of [the show Discovery], but now it’s its own object. When you close your eyes and think of the key sets and situations that you think of The Original Series, that’s what we’re looking to do.”
Before shifting to other Star Trek properties, he discussed why Captain Pike was specifically chosen for its own show.
“I was wildly envious of any involvement in Star Trek because I love it so much,” Goldman emphasized. He says the idea came when he was picked up as a writer for Discovery and was puzzled by their lack of involvement in that series since the timelines “overlapped.”
“When the Enterprise appeared at the end of season one, and once Anson [Mount] and Rebecca [Romijn] and Ethan [Peck] started living those characters in season two, it sort of became this wonderful inevitability,” he explained.
Besides Mount starring as Captain Christopher Pike, Rebecca Romijn will portray first officer Number One and Ethan Peck will reprise his role as Science Officer Spock. No word yet the character Dr. Phillip Boyce will be recast. John Hoyt portrayed the medical officer in the 1965 Original Series unaired pilot “The Cage” and would be seen again in the episode “The Menagerie” through archival footage.
