Fantasy Manga ‘Reign of the Seven Spellblades’ To Get Anime Adaption

0

‘Nanatsu no Maken ga Shihai Suru’ is a fantasy light novel series written by Bokuto Uno, illustrated by Ruria Miyuki, and published through ASCII Media Works. It was picked up by Yen Press for a North American release under the title ‘Reign of the Seven Spellblades’ and it would later transition into a manga from Kadokawa Shoten illustrated by Sakae Esuno.
According to Crunchyroll, an anime adaption was announced during the Dengeki Bunko Winter Festival event. There have been no details regarding the staff, cast, or music as of yet.
The announcement was accompanied by a promotional image.

MyAnimeList describes the synopsis as follows,
“In the world of magic, there exist deadly irreversible techniques commonly known as spellblades. These sparse and elusive spells, along with their casters, are shrouded in mystery and only their absolute lethality is known to the masses.
Every year, the spring blossom signifies a new intake of students to the prestigious magic school Kimberly. With reactions of awe and bewilderment, a ceremonious parade complete with magical beasts welcomes the newcomers to the institution. Among them is the mysterious Oliver Horn, whose indifference changes to fascination as he notices a peculiar figure—a girl wearing strange attire equipped with a Japanese sword.
From the entrance ceremony onward, Oliver realizes that not all is as it seems at Kimberly, as the emergence of labyrinths, monsters, and other threats endanger the new student body. Nanatsu no Maken ga Shihai suru explores the intertwined fates of two warriors as they uncover the dark truths that lurk within the walls of the academy.”
Currently, the light novel series has eight volumes with the manga trailing behind with five volumes via Monthly Shōnen Ace.
Uno’s previous series ‘Alderamin on the Sky’ was also adapted into an anime that ran for one season of thirteen episodes.

The Leverage team found new blood in Harry Wilson, a corporate lawyer looking for redemption after realizing he’d been sitting on the wrong side of the table for his entire career, and in Breanna Casey, Hardison’s foster sister who has a knack for computers, robotics, and getting into trouble.”

‘Mieruko-chan’ is a paranormal horror comedy manga written and illustrated by Tomoki Izumi. It was originally published in Japan by Kadokawa Shoten before being brought to North America in English by Yen Press. The Japanese animation studio Passione began producing an anime adaption in October 2021 directed by Yuki Ogawa and Takahiro Majima. With its popularity, Funimation announced that they had acquired the rights to produce an English dub.
“She can see them!!! We’re excited to announce that the Mieruko-chan English dub is officially on its way to Funimation, and we’ve got your details on the series cast, crew and when you can watch,” Funimation said on their website. “Episode 1 of the Mieruko-chan English dub will arrive on Funimation, which means your spooky adventure with Miko, Hana and a whole mess of spooky ghouls is about to begin (or begin again from the beginning!).”

MyAnimeList describes the synopsis as follows:
“Miko Yotsuya’s eyes water as she fixates on a single spot on her phone—she ignores yet another dreadful, horrific monster that is in her face, uttering the disturbing words: “Can you see me?” Before now, Miko enjoyed her unassuming high school days, with late-night horror shows serving only as a form of entertainment. But ever since one fateful day, she is the only person aware of the invisible monsters walking freely among humans.
Courageously, Miko makes a bold decision: she will never, under any condition, acknowledge the presence of the horrid specters. However, even though she pretends they do not exist, she can still see how they disturb the people around her, especially her best friend, the energetic and lovely Hana Yurikawa. In order to protect them from the monsters’ annoyances, Miko gives it her best to continue her school life and avoid every troublesome crisis—even when they scare her to tears.”
Amber Lee Connors will serve as ADR Director with Alexis Tipton, Daman Mills, Marissa Lenti, and Mike Haimoto serving as assistant ADR directors.

Henry Cavill Is Down For A “Conversation” About Starring In A ‘Mass Effect’ Series

Aside from his prolific career in cinema, ‘Immortals’ actor Henry Cavill is also a proficient gamer of both tabletop and video games. He has mentioned some of his favorite games, including Warhammer, frequently during interviews.
During a conversation with GamesRadar, Henry Cavill praised the video game franchise ‘Mass Effect’ and said he would “love to have a conversation” about being in a series based on the property.
“Very much so, yeah, all depending on how they’re executing it,” he said. “The world of adaptation can be heavy or light. When I like a product, I prefer the adaptation to be less changed from the source, so it all depends.”
“I think it’s found a home, hasn’t it? If [the series] finds a home, I would love to have a conversation,” ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’ actor added.
He also shared some insight on which games are his favorite in the franchise saying, “I did not play Andromeda – I had a go at it, but ended up being very busy. But [The Mass Effect Trilogy]? Yeah. Loved it. Brilliant games.” He said, “It would make such a magnificent series of movies or TV shows.”
Henry Cavill has made a name for himself through several fanbases. Comic book fans know him as Superman from ‘Man of Steel,’ ‘Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice,’ and ‘Justice League.’ Fans of espionage thrillers know him from ‘The Man From U.N.C.L.E.’ and Mission: ‘Impossible – Fallout.’ Gamers know him from ‘The Witcher,’ which has been renewed for a second season on Netflix.
‘Mass Effect’ was originally released in 2007 for Xbox 360, PC, and PS3. It was followed by several spin-offs, two sequels, and ‘Andromeda.’ The original trilogy was released as ‘Mass Effect Legendary Edition’ in 2021. While many feature film adaptions have labored in development limbo, an anime produced by Production I.G. titled ‘Mass Effect: Paragon Lost’ was released in 2012.

Johnny Depp Film ‘Minamata’ No Longer “Buried,” Finds Release Date

The Johnny Depp film ‘Minamata’ has had a turbulent release. Though it was released widely in Europe and Asia, its North American distributor MGM Studios seemed to put it on the back-burner, so much so, director Andrew Levitas accused them of trying to “bury” the film. It has now been reported that the historical drama has found a new distributor that will bring the movie to an American audience.
Deadline reports that the Iervolino and Lady Bacardi Entertainment is working with Samuel Goldwyn Films to give it a wide release on December 15th, just inside the window for awards season.
“I am thrilled that North American audiences will finally be able to learn about what happened and continues to happen in Minamata and around the world. The silencing of marginalized voices and those left behind (as well artists) by large corporate behemoths has to end, and with new like-minded partners this story will finally come to light in North America and hopefully offer some peace to the victims and their families who have been put through far too much,” Levitas told Deadline in a statement.
“Anchored by standout performances and stunning direction and craft artistry, Minamata is the kind of purposeful storytelling that sinks in with audiences and a movie they will appreciate seeing. We’re thrilled to be able to orchestrate a release campaign alongside Samuel Goldwyn that will invite audiences into this story,” added Andrea Iervolino.
The movie tells the story of photographer Eugene Smith who documented the effects of mercury poisoning on the citizens of Minamata, Kumamoto, Japan. Depp stars as Smith as well as produces the film.
‘Minamata’ also stars Bill Nighy, Minami, Hiroyuki Sanada, Jun Kunimura, Ryo Kase, Asano Tadanobu, and Akiko Iwase.
You can watch the trailer below:

As D-Rezzed previously reported, some have speculated MGM delayed the film due to the very public legal battle between Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard. Depp lost out on reprising his role in the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ franchise while Heard was tapped to reprise her role as Mera in the ‘Aquaman’ sequel.

The Balrog’s Head Can Be Yours In Two Different Size Options

Hey! Do you want a massive Balrog head on yer wall? Maybe ya don’t have that much real estate in your studio apartment? It’s OK because Queen Studios is making two different-sized decapitated monster heads for fans of Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings.
Whether you’re mounting it above your bed to ward off any potential mates or putting it in your kid’s bedroom to make sure they grow up maladjusted, the artisans at Queen Studios pulled out all the stops to make sure that this Gandalf-whipping beast would make fans of any budget happy.
When I say these come in two sizes and budget brackets, I mean it. The smaller of the two Balrog heads is $310, while the larger one is $1,040. The additional $730 difference means the bigger bust is almost double the size. Check out the images below to see just how massive that thing is!
The more affordable Cinta version of the dark creature comes in 61cm by 45cm, including the base. By comparison, the Polda Edition Balrog measures 94cm by 123cm. Both heads feature interior lighting for the eyes and mouth. Regardless of which one is purchased, you’ll be getting a base to put the thing on while it can also be wall-mounted.

Sadly, we here in the US cannot get either of these creations. Queen Studios is a Chinese company, and they don’t appear to be selling some items to customers in the States. This could be due to the size of the product and the cost of shipping.
If Queen Studios strikes a distribution deal with Gentle Giant or Sideshow, we’ll let you know!

Personally, I’d rather have a bust of the Ralph Bakshi Balrog from his animated The Lord of the Rings movie. Mainly I want it because you could never make out what the hell it was supposed to look like. Since the movie was mostly rotoscoped, the Balrog was probably a dude wearing a stuffed lion’s head … because that’s what it looks like on-screen. Either way, I’d love to have something that goofy on my wall.

What do you think of having a somewhat life-size Balrog head in your home? Cool or excessive? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

Pinky, The Brain, Yakko, Wacko, and Dot Ultimates Figures On The Way!

Ah, the early and mid-1990s were a great time for animation. Warner Bros. was straddling the line between kid-friendly and adult content with several cartoons. Animaniacs, Tiny Toons, and Pinky & The Brain fit in plenty of jokes that went clear over the heads of kids while teens and adults got it.
We didn’t get a toyline based on any of these Warner toons for whatever reason. So aside from static figurines and McDonald’s toys, we kids of the ’90s were deprived of ways of reenacting our favorite moments with figures. Now that we’re adults with disposable incomes, Super7 wants to take advantage of that with their newest Ulimates collectible action figures.
Super7’s Ultimates are high-quality articulated figures based on many retro cartoons such as ThunderCats, Transformers, TMNT, and now Animaniacs. Yakko, Wacko, Dot, Pinky, and Brain kick off this first wave based on producer Stephen Speilberg’s 1995 television series.
Each figure is $55, and they all come with various accessories and interchangeable parts. This wave is set to release in Winter 2022. They can be pre-ordered now, either individually or as a set.

The Sentence Is Death .. A New Judge Death Figure That Is!

Sidney De’ath hailed from a parallel universe similar to Judge Dredd’s. However, rather than upholding the law, Sidney became obsessed with death, eventually making a pact with the Sister of Death. Along with his fellow murderous Judges, Sidney became the living embodiment of death: Judge Death.
Eventually, Judges Death escaped his reality and made it to MegaCity One. Once there, he unleashed destruction on the tightly packed city until being captured by Judge Anderson. Though Anderson was sealed away, the other Dark Judges, Fear, Fire, and Mortis, arrived to free Death, and the cycle of murder started over again.
Now Judge Death will be joining Judge Dredd in the 1:18th scale. Hiya Toys is giving their Dredd action figure a companion in August 2022. Death is priced at $19.99 and can be pre-ordered now through the Big Bad Toy Store.

Judge Death has been a surprisingly versatile villain for the 2000 AD comics and other media. The character is as straightforward as they get. He wants to end all life. However, his means of accomplishing this and how he regains his corporeal form are always intriguing.
My personal favorite story involving this Dark Judge is in the Dredd/Batman crossover with the Scarecrow. Death’s spirit manages to travel through time thanks to a device stolen by Mean Machine and ends up in present-day Gotham City. He teams up with the Scarecrow, who helps Death gain a new physical body.
Meanwhile, Batman is inadvertently sent into the distant future and MegaCity One. Here he runs across not only Mean Machine but also Judge Joe Dredd. Since vigilantism is entirely illegal in MC1, Dredd arrests Bruce after giving him one hell of a beating. It isn’t until Judge Anderson enters the picture that Batman can escape back to the present.
The graphic novel has been republished several times over the years. So, if you’re interested, it should be an easy find.
