Sideshow Collectibles Signs Distribution Deal With Queen Studios

Sideshow Collectibles has announced that they have partnered with China-based collectibles manufacturer Queen Studios to bring their line of highly-detailed Marvel products Stateside.
While Queen Studios does ship to the United States, the number of products available is limited. Although the current offering is only made up of five busts, hopefully, the agreement will lead to US customers having access to the larger full-size statues.
In a statement available on Sideshow’s site, the company knows that North American customers want to get their hands on these premium collectibles:

“Queen Studios has made a significant impact on the collecting scene since their debut in 2018, creating exceptionally detailed and highly realistic recreations of fan-favorite super heroes and villains. Even Marvel’s editor in chief, C.B. Cebulski, was drawn to their incredible craftwork, opening the door to even more marvelous opportunities to create unbelievable collectibles.”
“This will be the first time collectors can find Queen Studios collectibles on the site, meaning customers can now take advantage of earning Sideshow Rewards on their Queen Studios purchases. Collectors also have access to Sideshow’s industry-leading customer support team and flexible payment plans to better suit your collecting budget.”

We’d previously covered Queen Studios’ Loki, Spider-Man, and massive Balrog statues. While pricey, these recreations of famous characters and creatures look like their worth the price of one month’s rent.
The initial offering from Queen Studios will include products from the Studios’ 1:1 Marvel Busts line.
Here’s the current pre-order selection of busts Sideshow offers from Queen Studios. They include MCU versions of Vision, Rescue, Iron Man Mark 7, Iron Man Mark 3, and the Carnage from the comics.

Interestingly, the initial wave will have three Iron … Person busts. I’d expect a bit more diversity when offering up items that are going to retail with $1k+ price tags. Let us know what you think about this announcement in the comments section below.

GKIDS’ President David Jesteadt expressed his enthusiasm, saying on their website, “We were all incredibly moved by Atsuko Ishizuka’s perceptive and fresh take on a classic story of teenage friendship.”
“We can’t wait for audiences to share this beautiful blend of comedy and drama, set in the days of summer when anything seems possible,” he added.
There is no word on who will join the English voice cast or a release date, as of yet. The Japanese voice talent includes Ayumu Murase, Natsuki Hanae, Yuuki Kaji, and Kana Hanazawa.

A small incident becomes an important, life-changing journey.”
The movie was edited by Kashiko Kimura and features music from Yoshiki Fujisawa.

Dazed and confused, her mother reveals to her a dark family secret: her family is descended from a Dark Clan that was banished to live powerless and destitute by their mortal enemies, the magical girls of the Light Clan. The only way to lift their ancestry’s curse is for Yuuko to find a magical girl, murder her, and splatter her blood all over her ancestor’s Demon God statue.
Fortunately for “Shadow Mistress Yuuko,” a magical girl saves her from being run over by an oncoming truck. Unfortunately, Momo Chiyoda happens to be Yuuko’s classmate at Sakuragaoka High and is much stronger than her in both strength and endurance. Taking pity on her wimpy assailant, the magical girl agrees to train Yuuko and help her unlock her dormant powers. Now, Yuuko must rise up and defeat her generous frenemy to save her family from the terrible grip of poverty.”

‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ Director Developing ‘Ninja Kamui’ For Adult Swim

‘Jujutsu Kaisen 0’ director Sunghoo Park is taking the reigns for a new Adult Swim and HBO Max futuristic adult action-oriented animated series titled ‘Ninja Kamui.’ The show is done in “anime” style and will be produced by E&H Production and Sola Entertainment.
Warner Media said in a press release, “Ninja Kamui follows Joe Higan who is a Nukenin – a former ninja who escaped his clan and is hiding from his violent past in rural America with his family. One night, he is ambushed by a team of assassins from his former organization who exact a bloody retribution on Joe and his family for betraying their ancient code. Rising from his seeming “death,” Joe will re-emerge as his former self – Ninja Kamui – to avenge his family and friends. Kamui is a 21st century ninja, a shadowy anachronism who pits his ancient skills against high-tech weaponry with brutal finesse. He must face off against trained assassins, combat cyborgs, and rival ninjas to bring down the very clan that made him.”
The group also released a promotional graphic for the series:

Park expressed his enthusiasm for the project saying, “This is a story I’ve always wanted to tell.”
“Transgression and punishment of a ninja who loses everything and goes out for revenge, and what lies at the end of his road. I am very excited about this new project and hope fans will be too,” he continued.
This comes with the announcement that ‘Rick and Morty‘ is getting an anime spin-off.
Adult Swim President Michael Ouweleen said, “Toonami helped introduce anime to a U.S. audience 25 years ago, and is creating new, dynamic originals for the next generation of anime fans.” He added, “These two series build on the legacy of those recent originals such as Fena: Pirate Princess, Blade Runner: Black Lotus, Shenmue the Animation, with Uzumaki and Housing Complex C, premiering later this year.”
Takeshi Okazaki, who has worked on such projects as ‘Afro Samurai,’ ‘Star Wars Visions,’ and ‘Batman: Ninja,’ will tackle the character designs for ‘Ninja Kamui.’

Rick and Morty Are Getting An “Anime” Spin-Off

One of Cartoon Network’s biggest hits is getting a spin-off overhaul. ‘Rick and Morty’ is an adult sci-fi animated comedy created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon for the Cartoon Network block Adult Swim that launched in 2013. Japanese animator and director Takashi Sano (Tower of God, Sengoku Basara: End of Judgement) is launching ‘Rick and Morty: The Anime.’ The show will also appear on HBO Max.
“Based on the Emmy-award-winning adult animated series, Rick and Morty: The Anime is a 10-episode adventure debuting on Adult Swim and HBO Max. Sano previously directed two anime shorts, ‘Rick and Morty vs. Genocider’ and ‘Summer Meets God (Rick Meets Evil),’ which received widespread fan and critical acclaim upon release, generating over 10 million combined views on Adult Swim digital platforms,” Warner Media said in a press release. “While celebrated anime director (and Rick and Morty superfan) Sano will adapt themes and events of the main series, Rick and Morty: The Anime will stand on its own as an original work.”
Telecom Animation Film (‘Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro’), a company that has worked with Sano in the past, will handle the animation.
“The multiverse-straddling exploits of Rick and the gang pose challenges to the family bond, but they always rise to the occasion,” Sano said. ‘It’s such a life affirming sight, and Jerry is no exception.”
He continued, “I am honored to have been given an opportunity to tell a new story about this amazing family. I hope you enjoy their adventures!”
According to IMDb, ‘Rick and Morty’ is an “An animated series on adult-swim about the infinite adventures of Rick (voiced by Justin Roiland), a genius alcoholic and careless scientist, with his grandson Morty (also Justin Rolans), a 14 year-old anxious boy who is not so smart. Together, they explore the infinite universes; causing mayhem and running into trouble.”

Indie Film ‘On Sacred Ground’ To Get North American Release

‘On Sacred Ground’ is an indie film co-written and directed by Joshua Tickell and Rebecca Harrell Tickell that recounts the protests surrounding Dakota Access Pipeline by the Lakota “Sioux” Tribe. The film was made by Concord Media and got picked up by Shout! Studios for a North American distribution release.
Shout describes a synopsis that “follows Daniel (William Mapother), a journalist and Afghanistan War military veteran, and Elliot (David Arquette), an oil company executive, who find themselves on opposite sides of the fight during the construction of the contentious pipeline. As the story unfolds, Daniel starts to align himself more with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe than the oil company he was hired to write about favorably, and the two characters go down separate paths as the events unfold during one of the most heated protests and confrontation with Native American tribes in modern US history.”
Shout plans on releasing the movie across the board by showing it at college campuses, a theatrical run, digital streaming, and a home video release sometime in early 2023.
Rebecca Harrell Tickell explained to Deadline, “We’re hopeful that On Sacred Ground can awaken audiences to the intersection of indigenous issues and the climate crisis. One thing we realized making this movie is that, to heal our planet, we may first have to heal the mistakes of our past.”
Shout! Studios Vice President of Acquisitions Jordan Fields expressed his excitement in a press release, “’On Sacred Ground’ is a potent drama about a conflict as old as America itself. Josh and Rebecca Tickell have crafted an engrossing and eye-opening film that demands a reckoning with how our indigenous populations have been treated for generations. Spoiler alert: their struggle continues.”
The movie stars William Mapother, David Arquette, Amy Smart, Kerry Knuppe, Frances Fisher, Irene Bedard, and Mariel Hemingway.

‘The Boys’ Season 3 Gets An Official Trailer

Prime Video dropped the official trailer for ‘The Boys’ season three. Previously, Amazon Studios had released a teaser and a handful of clips at the South by Southwest (SXSW) convention. With this full trailer, we get better insight into what this new season will entail when it is released on June 3, 2022.
The trailer features Homelander and Billy Butcher reeling from the events of the previous season, but others are observing their strange behavior.
You can watch the trailer below:

“Prime Video gave fans a look at the highly anticipated third season of The Boys, with the release of the head-poppingly diabolical official trailer and key art. The Emmy-nominated drama will return with three gripping new episodes on June 3, followed by one additional episode each subsequent Friday, and ending with a wicked season finale on Friday, July 8,” Amazon said in a press release.

Intent on stopping the corrupt superheroes, The Boys, a group of vigilantes, continue their heroic quest to expose the truth about The Seven and Vought—the multibillion-dollar conglomerate that manages the superheroes and covers up their dirty secrets. It’s the seemingly powerless against the super-powerful.”
The television series is based on a comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. It is developed by executive producer and showrunner Eric Kripke for Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television Studios.

1990’s Animated Series Spider-Man Gets A Spider-Sense Bust

As San Diego Comic-Con approaches, we’re seeing lots of event-exclusive collectibles being announced. Some are new, and some are variations of previously released items. Today’s Spider-Sense Spidey bust is one such product.
This bust from Gentle Giant is a re-paint of a mini bust the company produced not too long ago. The entire statue has been repainted to capture how the animated series’s Spider-Man looks when his spider-sense gets all tingly.
The bust measures 6″ tall and is priced at $60. It is made of resin and is limited to a run of only 1,000 pieces. Click here to pre-order yours. If you’re looking for a companion piece, Doc Oct is still available for pre-order, too, for $69.99.
These scenes would trigger a change in the color palette for not only Spidey but also the background. A specific sound effect also accompanied these scenes. Check out the video below for a compilation of these scenes.

Spider-Sense – tingling! Peter Parker gets an alert in this exclusive, limited-edition variant bust, depicting Spider-Man with his spider-sense going off, inverting the colors of his costume as seen in the classic animated series. Measuring approximately 6 inches tall, this 1/7 scale resin bust is limited to only 1000 pieces.

Although Spider-Man: The Animated Series wasn’t on par with Batman‘s earlier animated incarnation, it was nevertheless a significant improvement over the ’60s and ’80s versions. The TV show also introduced a new line of Spider-Man toys and gave us an incredible Carnage action figure.

The toy line continued for a few waves and spin-offs. Throughout the product’s life cycle, we got a lot of characters who had never appeared in action figure form before, like Kingpin, Shocker, and Vulture. This was an era right before Toy Biz focused on the more detailed Marvel Legends figures.
