‘Fire in His Fingertips’ Is Getting An English Dub

0

‘Fire in His Fingertips: A Flirty Fireman Ravishes Me with His Smoldering Gaze’ is a romantic manga series created by Tanishi Kawano. It was published by the Japanese company Suiseisha for their ‘Screamo’ magazine. The animation studio Studio Hōkiboshi picked up the series for an anime adaptation titled ‘Fire in His Fingertips: My Childhood Friend is a Firefighter’ that saw a 2019 first season and a 2021 second season that ran for sixteen episodes. Ascendent Animation announced that they had acquired the rights to an English dub.
The Anime New Network revealed the cast in a news report. The English voice cast includes Amanda Parker, Eli Brennan, Zack Maher, Nicholas Andrew Louie, Brittany Lauda, Rochelle Chiang, Kim Gasiciel, Sean Chiplock, and Natalie Van Sistine.
Ascendent Animation announced it on social media:

Wikipedia describes the synopsis as follows,
“Ryo Fujihashi, a 24-year-old office worker, is childhood friends with Souma Mizuno, a firefighter. She plans on setting him up with a co-worker from her office, but she assumes the reason why their dates fail is because of his womanizing ways. When Souma saves her when her apartment catches on fire, he offers her a place to stay. Ryo later learns that he has been in love with her for a long time.”
The “complete version” Japanese cast stars Ion Momoyama, Margarine Tengu, Kinniku Ii, Yū Asagi, Ringo Aoba, Kiiro Tsukino, Shiu Kase, Haru Amano, and Nerine Akimoto. The first season of the show is produced by Mika Emoto and Spicy Saburou with Toshihiro Watase working as a director. The second season is directed by Toshihiro Watase, produced by Mika Emoto, and written by Eeyo Kurosaki.
The first season of the anime ran from July 8, 2019 to September 1, 2019 with the second season July 5, 2021 to August 23, 2021 on Tokyo MX.
Seven Seas Entertainment released in North America under their Ghost Ship imprint.

Hiya Toys Celebrates 35 Years Of RoboCop With A New Action Figure

Come on, Sal. The Tigers are playin’ tonight! Hiya Toys is releasing another 6″ Robocop figure! This time it’s classic Murphy from the first film. He’s ready to raid a drug factory and throw Clarence Boddicker through a few windows.
Based on the promotional photos, it looks like this figure has some enhanced articulation that lets him properly weird the high-powered sniper rifle. The cybernetic law enforcement officer also comes with interchangeable mouthpieces, a battle-damaged chest plate, and a battle-damaged helmet. His other accessories include the Auto-9, multiple hands (data spike, too!), and a base with an articulated posing arm.
Of course, all this does come at a price. So get ready to pony up $89.99 if you want this version of RoboCop. He’s currently up for pre-order over at the Big Bad Toy Store. The expected release date is February 2023.
There’s no shortage of RoboCop figures coming out this year. Previously, we’d reported on the SDCC exclusive battle-damaged Murphy and ED-209 boxset and the upcoming NECA RoboCop with Peter Weller’s likeness under the helmet.

As you can tell, Robocop won’t feature Peter Weller’s likeness. Kind of a bummer. Another interesting thing is Murphy comes with what looks like two differently scaled Auto-9 pistols. The bigger one may be specifically for the firing effect attachment, while the smaller one is probably when he stores the firearm in his thigh compartment.
Here’s what you’ll get with Robo:

  • 3 Mouth parts
  • 4 Pairs of hands
  • Interchangeable helmet
  • Interchangeable chest
  • Gun blast effect
  • Bullet effect
  • Sniper rifle
  • 2 Auto-9 pistols
  • Stand

Compared to the NECA RoboCop that came out years ago, the Hiya one looks far superior. Then again, with a $40 difference in price, it should. What do you think of this figure? Let us know below.

‘The Boys’ Punches Its Way Into A Fourth Season

0

Amazon Studios announced that their acclaimed action series ‘The Boys’ is getting a fourth season when they announced in a PR statement that the show had been renewed with an additional eight episodes.
“Prime Video today announced it has officially ordered a fourth season of its hit Emmy-nominated series The Boys, co-produced with Sony Pictures Television, following the explosive premiere of its third season. The Boys released the first three episodes of Season Three on Friday, June 3 with new episodes available each Friday, leading up to the epic season finale on July 8,” they said.
“The Boys franchise also now includes an eight-episode anthology animated series, The Boys Presents: Diabolical, now streaming on Prime Video, as well as the Untitled Boys Spinoff, set at America’s only college exclusively for young-adult superheroes, which is currently in production,” Amazon added.
As reported by D-Rezzed, the third season’s cast includes stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Jensen Ackles.
‘The Boys’ franchise is continuing to expand as more projects are being announced. Amazon recently discussed ‘The Boys Presents: Varsity,’ a spin-off about a group of young superheroes who are in training.
Amazon Studios describes the synopsis as follows,
“The Boys is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes—who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians, and as revered as gods—abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. Intent on stopping the corrupt superheroes, The Boys, a group of vigilantes, continue their heroic quest to expose the truth about The Seven and Vought—the multibillion-dollar conglomerate that manages the superheroes and covers up their dirty secrets. It’s the seemingly powerless against the super-powerful.”
The television show is based on a comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. It is developed by executive producer and showrunner Eric Kripke for Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television Studios.

ThreeZero’s Bloodshot Figure Now Available For Pre-Order

Last week we reported on a teaser image for an upcoming Bloodshot action figure. The Valiant Comics’ character has “action figure” written all over him, and ThreeZero did a great job of delivering not only Bloodshot’s iconic look but also a body with an insane amount of articulation.

I spent a little while browsing ThreeZero’s figures and found that the Terminator Dark Fate T-800 and Sarah Connor are also on the same scale. That’s a crossover I’d love to see. Not Dark Fate; that film was crap, but the Terminator VS an unstoppable warrior who can rebuild himself.

The Valiant – FigZero S 1/12 Bloodshot action figure stands at 6” (~15.2cm) tall with a highly-detailed sculpt and fully-articulated body with 39 points of articulation. Accessories include fabric black t-shirt and harness, one katana with scabbard, one assault rifle, one submachine gun, one pistol, and four pairs of interchangeable hands.

Bloodspot comes with the following features and accessories:

  • Approximately 6 inches (~15.2 cm) tall
  • 39 points of articulation
  • Highly-detailed sculpt
  • Weathered paint application
  • One (1) Black t-shirt
  • One (1) Harness
  • One (1) Sword with scabbard
  • One (1) assault rifle
  • One (1) Submachine gun
  • One (1) Pistol
  • Four (4) pairs of interchangeable hands: One (1) Pair of relaxed hands, one (1) pair of fists, one (1) pair of gripped hands, one (1) pair of firearm hands.

There are a few cool action scenes in the 2020 Bloodshot movie, but something about the comic book just does not translate into live-action. Maybe if Vin didn’t play the lead? Or if it were an animated movie?

What other Valiant Comics characters make for good feature film subjects? Has the MCU ruined it for everyone else? Would studios rather play it safe with quippy crap? Let us know in the comments section below.

Toxic Crusaders Wave 3 Brings Toon Toxie and Junkyard

The hideously deformed superheroes and villains from Tromaville are back in the third wave of Ultimates action figures from Super7. The Toxic Crusaders, including Toxie and Junkyard, are joined by one of Dr. Killemoff’s Radiation Rangers.
Yes, this is not Toxie’s first time in the toyline. However, this version of Toxie is modeled after his in-show appearance rather than the Playmates toy. If you missed out on the original, this one does come with that one’s accessories, including two retro heads themed after the Playmates toyline: one with and one without the headband.
Each figure is priced at $55; the intended release date is in the Summer of 2023. In addition, the figures come with various interchangeable parts and accessories similar to their retro counterparts.

Sadly the 1990s cartoon series didn’t last long, and the toyline didn’t fare much better. It was odd that the toys weren’t better received as they were on a scale with the Playmates’ much more popular line: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The figures were amazingly detailed and had cool gimmicks like slime and glow-in-the-dark parts. Oh, well.

Classic Comic Book Iron Man Figures Coming From Hot Toys

If you’ve grown tired of the Marvel Cinematic Universe versions of classic comic book characters as far as merchandise is concerned, we’ve got some good news. Hot Toys is moving away from the MCU’s Iron Man and focusing on the Armored Avenger from the old days.
We spotted three new Iron Man 12″ Hot Toys figures at Sideshow Collectibles. The roster includes 1960’s Iron Man, 1981’s Stealth Iron Man, and 1992’s War Machine. The OG Stark suit and the Stealth version are very similar, with the main differences being the armor’s color and LEDs. War Machine looks like an entirely different figure, rather than reusing the same mold and attaching a few guns.
Iron Man comes with several unique accessories and a base. This puts his price at $405. In comparison, the Stealth suit and War Machine are both $375. The original Avenger will ship between July and September of this year. War Machine will be between July and December 2023. And the Stealth Armor will arrive sometime between April to September 2023.

This Statue of Thanos, The Mad Titan, Is Massive and Expensive!

He’s a big, big boy! The Mad Titan who courts Death on a regular basis is getting a brand new statue. This one, thankfully, isn’t based on the MCU version. That’s not a knock against the live-action Thanos; I’m just burnt out on Marvel Cinematic Universe merchandise.
PCS has announced that the company is working on another large-scale statue; this time, the subject is Thanos. The 1:3 scale sculpture of the Infinity Gauntlet-wielding alien is 34″ tall. Thanos is limited to only 400 pieces. He also comes with two interchangeable heads, and the Infinity Gauntlet lights up!
Thanos features an update to his classic comic-book look. His armor is more detailed, and the bodysuit is textured and ribbed for my viewing pleasure! Also, although the description mentions only the Gauntlet has lights, it looks like his armor does, too.
The statue will ship between November and January 2023. The legendary Marvel villain is priced at $1,500.

Inspired by his appearance in the hit mobile game Marvel Contest of Champions, the Thanos 1:3 Scale Statue measures 34” tall and 27” wide, standing on a Battlerealm base. Wielding the completed Infinity Gauntlet, which includes a light-up feature, the villain stalks through the charred landscape. The Thanos Statue is fully sculpted to capture the sheer might and size of the Mad Titan. He has a textured blue bodysuit and gold metallic armor elements and silver accents. The massive statue features two portraits — one stoic in his pursuit of domination, and one snarling as he wipes out the opposition with ease.

The statue includes the following:

  • Fully Sculpted Figure
  • Light-Up Infinity Gauntlet
  • Swap-Out Grimacing Portrait
  • Detailed Environment Base

Is it me, or are large-scale statues becoming more and more common? Would you have room for a 34″x28″x25″ Thanos in your home? Let us know in the comments section below.

It’s Father’s Day and Mezco Has My Cake!

Nathan Grantham has arisen from his grave and only has one thing on his mind. OK, perhaps two. One of those things was dropping a graveyard monument on top of Ed Harris. The other thing is pretty apparent when you look at Mezco‘s newest LDD figure.
Happy Father’s Day indeed! The LDD Creepshow figure of Nathan’s walking corpse is 10″ tall and has 5 points of articulation. He’s sporting his stylish burial suit and comes with Sylvia’s decorated head atop a silver platter. Such sweet justice.
Nathan is priced at $60 and is expected to ship before Father’s Day 2023.

Mezco

Nathan Grantham emerges from the underworld in a dusty two-piece suit and features an all-new head sculpt. The decaying living-dead dad comes complete with the decapitated head of his daughter Sylvia, covered in icing and candles, on a silver platter which he can hold. In this terrifying tale from the cult classic anthology series ‘Creepshow’, a demented old man returns from the grave demanding the Father’s Day cake his sinister daughter never gave him.

Creepshow premiered in theaters in 1982. It was directed by George A. Romero and written by Stephen King. Father’s Day was the first story in the anthology and featured Ed Harris, Jon Lormer, and Carrie Nye. In the story, Nathan crawls from his grave years after his daughter Bedelia murdered him in a fit of rage. What does Nathan crave after years of rotting away? His Father’s Day cake. Of course, he wants his other daughter Sylvia to join in the festivities. After all, she helped cover up the murder and profited from his death.
The segment ends like all those great EC Comics did, with a horrifying reveal and some awesome gore.
What do you think of this new Creepshow merchandise? Let us know in the comments section below.

XBOX Dongle Is Dead But Integration Coming To Samsung TVs

Not long ago, we learned that Microsoft had nixed a dongle that would have allowed various devices to access XBOX games from the cloud. During a recent Slopecast, I mentioned that MS might work with Samsung and integrate the necessary software and hardware needed to stream games directly from a TV. It looks like I was right.
Ars Technica is reporting that MS will work with Samsung to deliver XBOX Cloud gaming without the need for extra equipment like a streaming box or dongle. This inclusion is coming sooner than later. Samsung’s Neo QLED 4K and 8K televisions already include the tech! This feature is the Samsung Gaming Hub and is not exclusive to the XBOX app. It also has Stadia.
We did find a listing for the XBOX app on the website. The app is free, and here’s the description that accompanies it:

With the Xbox app you can play Fortnite for free* or stream hundreds of high-quality Xbox games directly onto your smart TV via cloud gaming with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate – cancel your membership anytime. Just grab your favorite controller to get started. Enjoy new games on day one from Xbox Game Studios, as well as iconic franchises from Bethesda Softworks and more. Tap into the heart of the Xbox community and join millions of players. Launch the Xbox app now to start playing the games you want.

It’s pretty much the same general info that can be found elsewhere. In addition, there is a commercial advertising the service:

So, how well does it work? Unfortunately, it’s still too early to find a suitable aggregate of reviews. However, some YouTube channels are starting to post videos of the Game Pass app in action:

It looked pretty smooth, but that doesn’t tell me much about latency or lag in other games.
