0

Clad in her revealing black dress and sporting an iconic pair of … eyes, Elvira is indeed the Mistress of the Dark. For decades now, the macabre horror movie host with the valley girl attitude has been delighting genre fans with her unique one-two punch of quirky humor and beauty. Elvira is getting a brand new statue from Mezco Toyz for all her hard work.

So, Mezco’s is going out of its way to market a statue with new branding. Rather than just saying it’s a 1/6 scale collectible, Elvira is officially part of what Mezco calls the Static-6 line. In reality, it’s a statue with interchangeable parts. Elvira will come with two interchangeable heads, two right arms, and four different images for the light-up TV screen. This collectible is certainly more than just a great set of boobs.

Elvira’s statue measures 11″ tall. It’s hand-painted and will cost you $250. While the description says this is a “limited edition high-end statue,” there’s no info on how many pieces will be released. Nor do we know how the light-up function is powered. However, we know that it will be shipped between June and August 2023.

With two bonafide high school girl protagonists—the short and exceptionally quick to anger Popuko, and the tall and unshakably calm Pipimi—they throw genres against the wall and don’t wait to see what sticks. Parody is interlaced with drama, action, crudeness, and the show’s overarching goal—to become a real anime.”

The show got rebranded as ‘Pop Team Epic Repeat’ which “remixes” the show with additional and alternative animation as well as redubbing the characters with different voice actors for Japanese and English versions.

However, much to her surprise, the once active senior has ended up becoming a “lonesome” student, preferring to spend his free time in quiet peace.

Uzaki does whatever she can to keep Sakurai from being “alone,” from convincing him to go to the movies to going to his part-time workplace. While Sakurai finds her irritating and tiresome, he still goes along with Uzaki’s hijinks and shenanigans, even if he knows that her perky personality will only lead the two of them into various comical situations.

Even so, as the days pass by, their relationship only gets better, to the point where people around them misinterpret them to be a couple. At any rate, whenever Uzaki wants to hang out with her upperclassman, fun and adorable wackiness is sure to follow!”

The series is based on a manga written by Take and published by Fujimi Shobo. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the stories in North America.

As their mother’s health deteriorates and the medical bills add up, Flynne and Burton make extra money playing simulations (“Sims”). The two siblings share Burton’s avatar, “jockeying” for high-paying customers to beat challenging game levels. When Burton is offered a chance to beta test a new Sim, it’s Flynne who ends up playing, pretending to be her brother. The Sim takes place in London and it tasks Flynne with breaking into a corporation known as the Research Institute—to steal a valuable secret. When the assignment goes wrong, Flynne begins to realize the Sim is more real than she ever could have imagined. The London she’s exploring exists in the future… the year 2099. And what Flynne has uncovered in the Research Institute has put her and her family in grave peril. There are people from the future who want to use Flynne for the information she’s stolen… and there are others who want Flynne dead. Flynne encounters Wilf (Gary Carr) in Future London, a man who may be the key to unlocking the mystery at hand. But first, in her present, Flynne and Burton, along with his former elite military unit, must rally to save themselves from forces intent on killing them—forces sent from the future to reclaim the vital secret Flynne stole.”

The television show is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by William Gibson.

0

The second season of the harem comedy ‘Peter Grill’ titled ‘Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time: Super Extra’ has found a new streaming home with HiDive, who will release it to a North American audience.

“You’re reading this post because you like risqué comedies, and Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time: Super Extra (Peter Grill to Kenja no Jikan: Super Extra) has that in spades. It’s even in the title of the 2nd season if you’re into acronyms,” HiDive said on their website.

Directed by Tatsumi, Wolfsbane animation studio produced the first season of the show which featured thirteen short episodes. Nora Mōri works on the show as a writer with Rui Ishige handling character design. Animation Studio Seven is working on the second season production as well.

The anime is based on a manga written and illustrated by Daisuke Hiyama. It has been published by the Tokyo-based company Futabasha for their magazine ‘Monthly Action’ since 2017. Seven Seas Entertainment produces the volumes in North America.

You can watch the trailer below:

AniList describes the synopsis as follows,

“Peter Grill is back and ready for action! Between quelling a goblin incursion, improving trade negotiations with the dwarves and placating a watchful sister who might just go berserk to keep him in line, Peter has his work cut out for him. He’s the most sought-after hero in the land…and that’s before counting the myriad woman interested in his “other” talents. It will take every last scrap of Peter’s willpower to keep his focus on heroing in another raunchy season of Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time – Super Extra!”

The manga and anime spun off a mobile RPG game based on the series titled ‘Pītā Guriru to Kenja no Jikan Teisō no Mamoribito’ and known in English as ‘Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time – Defender of Virtue.’

Donatello Is The Invisible Man … Err … Turtle

0

The final Turtle has been revealed in NECA’s TMNT X Universal Monsters toy line! We knew for a while that Donatello would be taking on the role of the Invisible Man, but we had little to go on. It turns out that the figure is coming with fewer accessories than I had expected.

The 7″ tall figure does come with the expected bandaged appendages, but there’s no “invisible” head. There’s not even one that lets you recreate the scene from the classic film where Dr. Jack Griffin tears off the gauze to show that nothing is hiding beneath. Instead, his shell is translucent, and a couple of pieces of pizza float around there. Is that where turtles digest their food? Maybe it’s storage like the Igor Leo figure? Unfortunately, the pictures don’t clarify this.

Donnie comes with the following accessories:

  • Interchangeable bandaged heads
  • Interchangeable translucent hands and feet
  • Microscope
  • Bo staff
  • TGRI journal
  • Glass,
  • Hat

Donatello will miss Halloween and is slated to show up in April 2023. He can be pre-ordered now through Entertainment Earth.

Universal’s The Invisible Man is based on H. G. Wells’s 1897 story of the same name. The film debuted in 1933 and featured Claude Rains as Dr. Jack Griffin. The movie showed off some impressive visual effects for the time. This figure also marks the last of the four main Turtles to get the Universal Monsters treatment.

So, which character from TMNT will be next? Casey Jones is yet to show up. Maybe he’ll be Victor Von Frankenstein since April got to be the Bride? Shredder certainly needs to appear since no TMNT baddies have shown up yet. My money is still on Shredder being Dracula. Not only is that one of Universal’s most recognizable monster films, but it makes perfect sense as Splinter is Van Helsing.

‘Dororo’ is directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi, written by Yasuko Kobayashi, with character designs being done by Satoshi Iwataki.

MyAnimeList describes the synopsis as follows,

“The greedy samurai lord Daigo Kagemitsu’s land is dying, and he would do anything for power, even renounce Buddha and make a pact with demons. His prayers are answered by 12 demons who grant him the power he desires by aiding his prefecture’s growth, but at a price. When Kagemitsu’s first son is born, the boy has no limbs, no nose, no eyes, no ears, nor even skin—yet still, he lives.

This child is disposed of in a river and forgotten. But as luck would have it, he is saved by a medicine man who provides him with prosthetics and weapons, allowing for him to survive and fend for himself. The boy lives and grows, and although he cannot see, hear, or feel anything, he must defeat the demons that took him as sacrifice. With the death of each one, he regains a part of himself that is rightfully his. For many years he wanders alone, until one day an orphan boy, Dororo, befriends him. The unlikely pair of castaways now fight for their survival and humanity in an unforgiving, demon-infested world.”

The show was previously adapted in 1969 by Mushi Production for twenty-six episodes.
