Netflix Scoops Up Norweigan Action Film ‘Troll’

2018’s ‘Tomb Raider’ director Roar Uthaug is returned to his Scandinavian roots with the action film ‘Troll,’ a monster movie about a creature marching toward Oslo, Norway. The film is set to make its worldwide debut on Netflix, where fans of the genre will get to see the creature on December 1, 2022.

“Netflix has revealed that the epic Norwegian action-adventure film Troll will launch globally on December 1, 2022. The film, releasing exclusively on Netflix, is directed by internationally acclaimed Roar Uthaug (Tomb Raider, The Wave) and stars Ine Marie Wilmann in the lead role as well as Kim Falck, Mads Sjøgård Pettersen and Gard Eidsvold,” the streaming service said on their website.

The director explained in an interview, “Troll is an idea that has been developing in the back of my mind for over 20 years. To finally be able to realize it with the enthusiastic and ambitious people at Netflix and Motion Blur is truly a dream come true. I can’t wait to unleash this Norwegian monster on the world.”

Netflix Vice President of International Original Film David Kosse said, “We are incredibly proud to bring a Norwegian project of this scale to the world together with Roar Uthaug and Motion Blur. Roar is an extremely skilled filmmaker and I’m excited for him to go back to his Norwegian roots with this ambitious, fun film.”

The film stars Ine Marie Wilmann, Mads Sjøgård Pettersen, Pål Richard Lunderby, Eric Vorenholt, Gard B. Eidsvold, and Pål Anders Nordvi.
