HiDive Debuting ‘The Eminence in Shadow’ Season 2 At Anime Expo

Fans of the dark fantasy anime ‘The Eminence in Shadow’ got some big news with the announcement that HiDive will host its North American debut at the Anime Expo. They will release a subtitled version with a Q&A with Seiichiro Yamashita and the dubbed premiere will feature a panel with voice actors Adam Gibbs and Christina Kelly.

HiDive said on their website that they had “announced today that it will host the world premiere of The Eminence in Shadow 2nd Season in Los Angeles, Calif. at next month’s Anime Expo, the largest annual anime convention in North America. Presented in partnership with Kadokawa, this first-ever dual world premiere event features separate English subtitled and dub premieres of The Eminence in Shadow 2nd Season Episode 1 on July 1 and July 4, respectively.”

‘The Eminence in Shadow’ is based on a light novel written by Daisuke Aizawa, illustrated by the artist known as Tozai, and published by Enterbrain. The anime is produced by the Japanese animation studio Nexus with Sentai Filmworks releasing it in the United States.

‘The Eminence in Shadow’ fandom wiki describes the synopsis as follows,

“Even in his past life, Cid’s dream wasn’t to become a protagonist or a final boss. He’d rather lie low as a minor character until it’s prime time to reveal he’s a mastermind…or at least, do the next best thing-pretend to be one! And now that he’s been reborn into another world, he’s ready to set the perfect conditions to live out his dreams to the fullest. Armed with his overactive imagination, Cid jokingly recruits members to his organization and makes up a whole backstory about an evil cult that they need to take down. Well, as luck would have it, these imaginary adversaries turn out to be the real deal-and everyone knows the truth but him!”

The Japanese publisher Kadokawa Shoten publishes a manga version of the light novel with Anri Sakano illustrating. Yen Press releases the English version.
