Sunrise shed some light on their mysterious new project ‘Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury,’ a new television show featuring the giant mechs, revealing the potential protagonist and her mobile suit, Gundam Aerial. Sunrise dropped some key visuals featuring the various mechs as well as a teaser trailer for the upcoming show.
IGN notes that the trailering is “showing the protagonist’s short red hair blowing in the wind, and Gundam Aerial booting up towards the end. The series looks to have a modern art style and inspirational music if the trailer is anything to go by.”

As of the writing of this article, Sunrise has not revealed the protagonist’s name with the company being been vague about whether this series will take place in an established Gundam story arc or introduce a new one. This is will be the first television series since the 2015 show ‘Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans.’ It will also feature a special “prologue” episode to set-up the premise and introduce other mobile suits including the Gundam Lfrith and Beguir-Beu.
Comic Natalie reports, “‘Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch of Mercury’ will be broadcast from October on the MBS / TBS 28 stations nationwide on the “Day 5” frame, which is the frame from 17:00 on Sunday. In the teaser visual and teaser PV, the main character of the work and the main character Gundam Aerial appeared. Furthermore, it is clear that the production of “PROLOGUE”, which is the day before the main part of the animation, has been decided and will be released this summer. In addition, the setting images of the two mobile suits Gundam Lubris and Beguilbeu appearing in “PROLOGUE” were also shown.”

As part of the promotion for the show, the prologue will be released first at the Gundam Factory Yokohama, home of the life-sized moving First Gundam statue.
