Star Wars was pegged to be a ‘blockbuster’ months before it released in 1977, with Fox execs raving it was going to be a gamechanger via an unearthed telegram. Fast forward to 2021, and Disney has run the Star Wars machine into the ground. Star Wars has gone from being a cultural phenomenon to just another Disney IP, just another sci-fi franchise, in less than half a decade. Ouch.
