Shout Factory Joins Forces With The Jim Henson Company For Distribution

The Jim Henson Company, known for The Muppets, has signed a deal with Shout Factory for a distribution deal to bring over a dozen of their other intellectual properties to video-on-demand or for home video release. This includes such programs as ‘The Storyteller’ and ‘Farscape’.

“The Jim Henson Company, an established leader in innovative and iconic entertainment, and Shout! Factory, a multi-platform media company, have announced a worldwide distribution deal to bring thirteen of Henson’s popular series and specials to streaming, broadcast, and home entertainment distribution platforms across all territories, including the global AVOD premiere of Henson’s award-winning ‘Farscape,'” Shout said on their website. “The announcement was made today by Shout! Factory’s CEO Garson Foos, Jeffrey Peisch, Shout’s Senior Vice Present of Programming & New Business Development, and Kerry Novick, Vice President of Global Distribution at The Jim Henson Company.”

They added, “In addition to the sci-fi classic ‘Farscape’ and its follow-up mini-series ‘Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars,’ this multi-year distribution deal provides Shout! Factory and its streaming service Shout! Factory TV with all worldwide rights, including broadcast, streaming, on-demand, home entertainment, and non-theatrical rights to Jim Henson’s Emmy-winning fantasy anthologies ‘The Storyteller,’ and ‘The Storyteller: Greek Myths’, as well as classics including ‘Jim Henson’s World of Puppetry,’ ‘Monster Maker,’ ‘Lighthouse Island,’ ‘Living With Dinosaurs,’ ‘Dog City,’ and ‘Ghost of Faffner Hall,’ as well as later productions like ‘The Fearing Mind,’ ‘Mopatop’s Shop,’ and ‘-Brats Of The Lost Nebula.'”

Novick expressed enthusiasm for the move saying, “FAST Channels are the wave of the future in terms of getting your content front and center for both devoted fans and new audiences. Shout! Factory is one of the best in this business, and audiences will enjoy watching beloved Henson productions, like ‘The Storyteller,’ as well as discovering new favorites through this partnership.”

‘Farscape’ ran for four seasons of eighty-eight episodes from 1999 to 2003 with the two-part ‘Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars’ airing in 2004.
