Prime Video Trailer For True Crime Docuseries ‘The Unsolved Murder of Beverly Lynn Smith’ Demands Answers

Amazon Studios and Muse Entertainment are partnering to bring the Canadian true crime documentary series ‘The Unsolved Murder of Beverly Lynn Smith’ to the Prime Video streaming service. After an initial release at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, the docuseries will premier on the streaming app on May 6.
“Prime Video today announced the new Canadian Amazon Original series The Unsolved Murder of Beverly Lynn Smith, a true-crime docuseries that follows the cold case and controversial investigation into the murder of Beverly Lynn Smith in her home in Oshawa, Ontario. Woven together from firsthand accounts, expert interviews, family archives, and rare access to key participants, The Unsolved Murder of Beverly Lynn Smith is an unpredictable tale that explores the unrelenting enigma of ethics and accountability in this provocative criminal case,” Amazon said in a press statement.
Muse and Amazon released a trailer for the series which questions how the murder became a cold case with the police later making an arrest using a controversial sting operation. Despite the victim’s sister insisting the man arrested was responsible, he insists he is innocent.
“Beverly Lynn Smith lived in a rustic farmhouse in the industrial community of Oshawa, Ontario with her husband and 10-month-old baby. On December 9, 1974, she was murdered in the kitchen of her home. Alan Smith (no relation to Beverly Lynn Smith), has been a central character in the investigation since the night of the murder almost 50 years ago. By 2007, the case had gone cold, until the results of a polygraph test raised suspicions, and Smith became a key person of interest—and the target of a controversial police investigation. Through all the twists and turns, Smith has always maintained his innocence,” Amazon explained.

Amazon added, “From Nathalie Bibeau, the director of The Walrus and the Whistleblower, the Amazon Original docuseries dives deep into the elaborate and controversial sting operation that was designed to investigate a suspect in the murder of 22-year-old Beverly Lynn Smith—but only ended up raising more questions—and a search for justice that spans decades.”
Courtney Dobbins, Jonas Prupas, and Catherine Legge serve as executive producers.
