Wikipedia describes the synopsis as follows,

“Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang run Time Photo Studio and accept requests from clients to relieve them of regrets. Through a photo provided by the client, Cheng Xiaoshi can travel back in time to the moment it was taken and assumes the identity of its photographer, with him absorbing the photographer’s memories and emotions in the process. At the same time, Lu Guang can keep track of the events in time and helps Cheng Xiaoshi relive the experiences of the photographer. The two work under the conditions that they have only 12 hours with one chance to travel in time and find what their client is searching for, while also leaving the events of the past unchanged.”

Link Click is directed by Li Haoling with Tanji Takumi, Asami Tomoya, and Zhu Lipiao working as art directors. The show’s first season originally ran for one season of eleven episodes and one special from April 30, 2021, to July 9, 2021.

Zuckerberg Admits That Meta’s Threads Lost Half Its Users

0

After some numbers were thrown around showing that interest in Meta’s Twitter rival Threads had plummeted, Mark Zuckerberg acknowledged the new platform’s performance issues. However, the Meta CEO is hopeful Threads will bounce back.

According to Reuters, Zuckerberg didn’t sugarcoat the reality about Threads’ current userbase during a “town hall” within Meta. He admitted that the brand new social media platform was “not there yet, saying, “Obviously, if you have more than 100 million people sign up, ideally it would be awesome if all of them or even half of them stuck around.”

It is alleged that more than half of Threads’ initial sign-ups did not stick around. As a Twitter alternative, Threads didn’t offer anything new, and the platform lacked certain features we’ve come to expect.

Zuckerberg does seem to be optimistic, however. Not every social media giant blew up overnight. Threads may take time, several improvements, and a symbiotic relationship with Instagram to prosper.

I think Threads needs to better define itself apart from the competition. The platform currently looks like a Dollar Store version of Twitter but with less functionality.

Meta's money issues could further be affected by lawsuits, Threads, and AI.
Meta being Meta, again.

I knew we’d not seen the end of this image being useful. Will the lack of interest in Threads mean more layoffs are on the horizon at Meta?

Considering Zuckerberg laid off 10K employees earlier this year as part of a push for better efficiency, taking a gamble on trying to beat Twitter (or X, if you prefer) at its own game seems counterproductive.

There are plenty of companies that have attempted to replicate Twitter; can you remember any of them? As much as some people complain about X or Twitter, very few permanently jump ship to champion a rival.

What will it take for Threads to steal away the userbase Elon Musk currently has at X? Let us know your thoughts below.

CEO-less GameStop Now Loses CFO, Diana Saadeh-Jajeh

Let’s check in on GameStop. It has been a while since the CEO resigned, and … Ah.

GameStop has had no CEO since Matthew Furlong was fired almost two months ago. Now, the embattled brick-and-mortar video game retailer has lost its Chief Financial Officer.

In a story from GameIndustry.biz, we learned that Diana Saadeh-Jajeh had been GameStop’s CFO for less than thirteen months before handing in her resignation. She took up the position in July 2022.

Unlike Furlong’s departure, Saadeh-Jajeh’s appears to be voluntary. A reason for her departure, however, was not given.

The vacation of the CFO position means that GameStop’s VP, Daniel Moore, will be moving into the role in the interim. Considering the company is still without a CEO, who knows when and if these positions will be filled or just assimilated into the duties of other people full-time?

Like Saadeh-Jajeh, Moore has not been with GameStop for a lengthy period. He, too, started with the company less than four years ago.

Previously, Saadeh-Jajeh had been GameStop’s Chief Accounting Officer and even the interim FCO during the second quarter of 2021. Before all that, she spent 18 years with VISA, rounding out her career there as the Vice President in 2015. She had bounced around between a few companies before coming to GameStop.

GameStop’s stock closed at $21.93 on July 28th. That’s a far cry from the $81.25 high it experienced in 2021. Even after the meme-inspired price increase, GME maintained a $40-$50 value throughout 2021, then gradually declined into $20 territory throughout 2022.

The physical stores have been seemingly aimless regarding who they’re trying to appeal to. What is the point of visiting a GameStop unless you’re trading in games or buying pre-owned ones?

Over the past few years, we’ve seen that brick-and-mortar locations have had an identity problem. They changed focus from games to Funko Pops and pop culture collectibles. Many of those items end up in the clearance bins.

Prime Video To Debut ‘Jigen Daisuke’ Live Action Film

Amazon announced that they had acquired the distribution rights to the upcoming film ‘Jigen Daisuke,’ a cinematic retelling of the character from the iconic manga and anime ‘Lupin III.’

“Prime Video announced that it will exclusively premiere Amazon Original Jigen Daisuke on October 13 in Japan and in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide,” Amazon said in a statement.

They added, “Amazon Studios and TMS Entertainment, Inc., the producer of Lupin III, co-produced the live-action movie directed by Hashimoto Hajime, and starring Tetsuji Tamayama as the cool, loyal, and sorrowful Jigen Daisuke, the most popular character in the Lupin III series. Prime members in Japan enjoy unlimited access to fast, convenient shipping benefits such as express delivery and specific time delivery at no additional charge, as well as a variety of other shopping benefits and entertainment.”

They dropped a teaser trailer for the film:

The character first appeared in the Lupin III manga chapter 7: “Magician.”

Prime Video explains, “The latest in the series tells the origin story of Jigen Daisuke, Lupin’s one-and-only sidekick and the world’s greatest gunfighter. With his chic appearance and hard-boiled looks, he is an important character who is as popular as the main character Lupin. Jigen Daisuke is once again played by Tetsuji Tamayama, who also portrayed the character in the live-action movie Lupin III.”

Tetsuji Tamayama previously portrayed Jigen in a 2014 film ‘Lupin the 3rd.’

The actor expressed his enthusiasm saying, “I was really honored and happy to be offered the role after the Lupin III movie that was released in 2014.”

“I had seen the anime LUPIN THE 3RD: JIGEN’S GRAVEST, which featured Jigen as the main character, and I really liked the edgy, adult atmosphere of Jigen in this film, which is slightly different from the style of the previous anime. I am beyond excited to being able to play the character again,” he added.

‘Lupin III’ is based on a manga from the creator known as Monkey Punch.

1/4 Scale Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade Cabinets From Numskull!!

Miniaturized arcade machines are my jam, bro. From Pac-Man to Dragon’s Lair, my studio has seen plenty of these new retro rascals cycle through. Thanks to Numskull, we’re about to get 1/4 scale versions of two of the best 4-player beat-em-ups ever to hit the arcades: Konami’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Turtles in Time!

Numskull’s Quarter Arcades series has produced several exquisitely detailed replicas of classic arcade machines, and that same attention to detail is being put into the two new TMNT cabs. Both feature the same controls, marquees, and artwork found in the originals. However, there’s more being offered here than just tiny arcade classics.

Multiple versions of the cabinets are being produced with varied included extras, including Signature Editions. For $399 each, you can get a signed Quarter Arcade signed by Kevin Eastman!

Standard versions of both cabinets are available, too. Those are $325 a piece and can be pre-ordered from Sideshow. Click here for TMNT and here for Turtles in Time.

The expected shipping window is between December 2023 and February 2024.

I can fill you in if you’re wondering about Numskull’s 1/4-scale arcade cabinet quality. I owned one of the company’s first products, the Pac-Man machine. I was pleasantly surprised at just how detailed and well-built the miniature cabinet was. Even the controls were tight and responsive. Now, it’s more of a functional decoration than anything else, but if you love shrunken-down tech like I am, these arcade replicas are perfect for your collection.

Now, optional USB controller inputs are something cool that Numskull has added to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles machines that were lacking from the earliest releases. New Wave Toys has done something similar, but Numskull hides the ports behind the coin doors instead of having you plug in from the cabinet’s rear.

Numskull’s USB controllers mimic the look of an old-school NES controller and feature a removable joystick attachment for the thumbstick. These new peripherals were made specifically for the TMNT cabs. They’ll run you $24.99 on Amazon.

The Signature Edition of the Konami classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cabinet features the following:

  • Signed by TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman
  • Includes ¼ scale TMNT arcade stool, numbered COA & exclusive postcard
  • Fully playable replica using the original TMNT arcade ROM
  • Realistic replica – made from wood and everything from the artwork, shape and buttons matches the original cabinet
  • New CRT lens screen cover
  • Light-up marquee
  • Four-player simultaneous play
  • 4x front USB ports (hidden behind the coin doors) allow the use of USB gaming controllers (sold separately)
  • High-quality: made for durability, playability, and portability
  • 6″ TFT screen with 4:3 ratio
  • Original sound positioning via 3W built-in speaker with volume control
  • Saves top 10 high scores
  • Original DIP switch settings
  • Powered via USB-C (cable included)
  • Internal rechargeable lithium battery

  • Realistic replica – made from wood and everything from the artwork, shape and buttons matches the original cabinet

‘Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence’ Prays Into An English Dub

0

‘Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence’ is a religious romantic comedy manga created by Hazano Kazutake and published by Kodansha since 2017. The Japanese animation studio Doga Kobo debuted an anime adaption in 2023 with Crunchyroll picking it up to stream in the United States and producing an English dub.

Crunchyroll revealed the English cast on their website:

  • Sant Cecilia voiced by Hannah Alyea (Aoi in Laid-Back Camp)
  • Pastor Lawrence voiced by Josh Bangle (Violence Fiend in Chainsaw Man)
  • Rebecca voiced by Erin Lundquist (Misaki’s Mother in Dead Mount Death Play)
  • Grandpa voiced by Kent Williams (Byakuya in Dr. STONE)
  • Lawrence (Young) voiced by Katelyn Barr
  • Lily voiced by Liz Laurenti
  • Lily’s Mom voiced by Nazia Chaudhry

Jad Saxton was tapped to be the ADR director for the dubbing process.

You can watch the trailer below:

MyAnimeList described the synopsis as follows,

“Dwelling in the small outskirts of a peaceful town, Lawrence works as a local pastor for the townsfolk. When in need, he is responsible for guiding people to the church to visit the “Saint”—a symbol of good morals who heeds each parishioner’s struggles and grants them sincere advice. Cecilia, a kind young girl, is tasked to fulfill this role; however, this tiresome job quickly exhausts her. That, paired with her hidden somnolent nature, often causes her to laze around the church. This leaves Lawrence to care for the church all by himself. While Cecilia sleeps in anticipation for her next visitor, Lawrence caters to her needs alongside performing the church’s numerous responsibilities.

Slowly but surely, they begin to form a comfortable and trusting friendship with one another. Lawrence accepting Cecilia’s lax nature elates her while she grows accustomed to Lawrence’s overly-doting nature. However, as the adoring and absent-minded saint’s feelings for the dense and overly protective pastor progress past friendship, how will he respond?”

‘Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence’ was originally serialized in the pages of ‘Shōnen Magazine R’ until the periodical was canceled. Beginning in February 2023, it is now released in ‘Monthly Maga Kichi.’

The ESRB Really Wants Children’s Personal Data

Would you allow a company to use facial recognition and AI to permit or deny your child from playing a game? The ESRB thinks that you will.

The ESRB’s job is to slap a label on a game, letting buyers/parents know if the title’s content is suitable for a certain age range. That’s really it. So, why does the Entertainment Software Rating Board need the FTC to modify the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)? Because it wants to use the cameras on smartphones and tablets to gain verifiable parental consent (VPC).

Are red flags waving? Certainly.

It is understandable that the ESRB would want to make sure that kids aren’t playing games that they shouldn’t. However, using AI and facial recognition to lock them out of an app comes with a lot of potential issues. Such as what data is stored and if/how/when can it ever be accessed.

The ethics issues extend beyond a faceless self-regulating non-profit having access to the faces of minors and feeding their personal data into an AI. A co-applicant for the petition is an extension of Epic Games, SuperAwesome. Thanks to the subsidiary’s actions, Epic had to fork out a fortune for violating COPPA.

The Entertainment Software Rating Board, in a statement, made the following proclamation:

“First and foremost, this application is not to authorize the use of this technology with children. Full stop. Nor does this software take and store ‘selfies’ of users or attempt to confirm the identity of users. Furthermore, this application makes no mention of using age estimation to prevent children from purchasing and/or downloading restrictively rated video games, nor do we intend to recommend its use in that way…”

Clarification on how the VPC would be implemented was given by a spokesperson for the board:

“To be perfectly clear: Any images and data used for this process are never stored, used for AI training, used for marketing, or shared with anyone; the only piece of information that is communicated to the company requesting VPC is a ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ determination as to whether the person is over the age of 25.”

Would you trust the ESRB with your child’s info?

Geras Returns in Mortal Kombat 1 New Trailer

Mortal Kombat 1 is not slowing down when it comes to new character announcements and surprise reveals. Most recently, the first Kombat Pack was revealed for the game, which announced several guest characters and returning Mortal Kombat alumni. Fans of the series will have more announcements to look forward to, including the return of a character that first appeared in Mortal Kombat 11. The roster of playable fighters just continues to get bigger and bigger.

Revealed in a brand new trailer that debuted during DreamCon 2023, Netherrealm Studios announced that Geras from Mortal Kombat 11 will be returning in MK1. The trailer showcases Geras interactions with Fire God Liu Kang and hints at his influence during the story of Mortal Kombat 1. The trailer also showcases some hard-hitting combos and special moves that Geras can use, which focus heavily on his time magic from the sands of time. His brutal fatality was also shown for the first time, which involves decimating half of an opponent’s body off using the magical sands he controls.

Geras was originally a villain that the warriors of Earthrealm had to face in Mortal Kombat 11. He was a servant of Kronika, the big boss in MK11, and tried to prevent Raiden and his warriors from stopping her plans. In Mortal Kombat 1, Geras will have a new design that is a little different than his first appearance in the series, as well as plenty of special moves that expand upon his fighting style.

In the trailer, we see Geras team up with Sector, the robotic Lin Kuei ninja that appears in the game as a Kameo fighter. But that’s not the only fighter we catch a glimpse of in battle. Geras also teams up with Darius in a battle against the Edenian ninja Rain and Kano. Although we don’t get to see a lot of attacks from Rain, Geras and Darius get to display many different Kameo moves and combos on their opponents. The rest of the trailer goes on to show Fire God Liu Kang in action, finishing off with Fatalities from both fighters at the end.

Are you excited about more new characters getting revealed for Mortal Kombat 1? Which fighter do you want to see be added to the main roster or as extra DLC? Tell us your thoughts about Mortal Kombat 1 down below in the comment section and let your voice be heard!
