New G.I. Joe Figures Include Color-Changing Zartan and Retro Snake Eyes

Zartan, the master of disguise and the owner of a weird skin condition, is getting an updated G.I. Joe Classified figure! The iconic evildoer comes with several interchangeable faces, and his skin finally turns dark blue when exposed to the elements!
This Zartan will only be available via Hasbro Pulse, but it looks like he is sold out. If he does become available again, get ready to spend $36.99. Additionally, Hasbro is releasing retro versions of Snake Eyes and his rival Storm Shadow. The duo will ship together, and the pack is priced at $39.99.

  • The Master of Disguise Zartan action figure is sensitive to heat and cold and will change colors in cold weather, under warm water, and more.
  • This figure features a classic design updated to bring the Dreadnoks leader into the modern era, plus accessories inspired by the character’s rich history.
  • Joining some of the best artists from the world of comics, graphic design in our artist partnership program, Tom Whalen and Derek Ring add a unique style to the Zartan package.
  • This G.I. Joe Classified Series Master of Disguise Zartan figure features premium detailing and articulation for dramatic action poseability (some poses may require additional support)

I picked up the retail version of Zartan a couple of months ago. He was cool and sported many of the hallmarks of the original figure, but his skin didn’t change color. I wasn’t expecting it since this was a collector’s line and that play feature was more for kids. It is nice that Hasbro is releasing a figure with that feature plus a bunch of extras.
I remember my original Zartan figure from the ’80s losing his ability to change color after a while. It was probably the Florida sun. I always thought it was weird that he came with one pretty generic disguise face. Then again, this was before multiple interchangeable heads were standard in action figures. Still, his uniform was unique, and there’s no way the Joes wouldn’t catch on to a guy dressed up like that.
The Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow retro figures come on classic blister packs. Heck, the packs even feature to old-school Hasbro logo. But, man, that takes me back.

  • Fans and collectors can enjoy the nostalgia of the classically constructed Snake Eyes & Storm Shadow figures with original o-ring design for high poseability
  • These G.I. Joe Retro Collection Snake Eyes & Storm Shadow figures feature classic detailing and multiple points of articulation for dramatic action poseability (some poses may require additional support)
  • Look for other G.I. Joe figures to build teams of Joe heroes and Cobra villains (Each sold separately. Subject to availability)
  • Both members of the Arashikage clan, these elite ninja assassins, and former allies became nemeses when Storm Shadow took a darker path than Snake Eyes and joined the ranks of Cobra.

Marvel Legends To Make ’90s Animated Jubilee, Venom, & Wolverine

The animated versions of Wolverine, Jubilee, and Venom will be making their first appearance in the Marvel Legends line of action figures in 2022. Yes, Wolverine will even come with the accessories that will allow you to reenact the jealousy meme.
We spotted the three new figures over at Hasbro Pulse. So far, it looks like Venom has already sold out.
Jubilee and Wolverine will come in VHS-inspired packaging featuring artwork similar to the 1993 X-MEN animated series. Meanwhile, Venom will come in the same packaging as other Spider-Man Animated Series figures have been attached to. In addition, his cardback will be similar to the one the character came shipped in when Spidey’s cartoon hit TV in 1994.
Wolverine and Jubilee will be $26.99, while Venom is a tad more, $31.99.

With over 80 years of entertainment history, Marvel has become a cornerstone of fan collections around the world. With the Marvel Legends Series, fan favorite Marvel Comic Universe and Marvel Cinematic Universe characters are designed with premium detail and articulation for posing and display in collections. From figures to vehicles to premium roleplay items, the Marvel Legends Series offers elite character-inspired product for Marvel fans and collectors.

It’s about time. Sure, it was cool that Mondo had a 12″ Wolverine from the show, but he was over $100. I want something more affordable. Also, I like that Hasbro is also painting the figures to reflect the cel-shading of the show. It’s a bit touch but sets them apart from all the other Legends figures.
Odd that Hasbro went with Jubilee. Sure, she was the focus of the first episode, but even in the ’90s, I’m not sure she was the most popular mutant. Gambit, Wolverine, and Storm indeed were. Oh, well. Now, give us a new Rogue figure with that extra round butt from the Apocolypse episode!

Marvel Legends Kicks Off Its 20th Anniversary With Cap and Iron Man

Twenty years. Wow. It has been twenty years since Toy Biz started the line of 6″ MARVEL action figures sporting more detail and articulation than their previous releases. Since then, Hasbro has taken over, but the toys have continued to hit store shelves regardless. Whether it was a new movie, show, or comic, the Legends series would dedicate at least one action figure to it.
Now to celebrate 1/5th of a century of MARVEL Legends, Hasbro is releasing some classic versions of the Avengers with retro packaging. We spotted the new Iron Man and Captain America on Hasbro Pulse and Entertainment Earth. Both are priced at $31.99 and should be released in May 2022.
These are just the first two in this new wave. Hulk and the mutant Toad will be joining them next year. I hope this is the classic version of Toad with the jester-like outfit.

For 20 years the Marvel Legends Series has brought the iconic characters and storylines of the Marvel Universe to fans worldwide. To celebrate the 2002 Toy Biz debut release, Marvel Legends proudly presents the 20th Anniversary Series 1, featuring Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, and Toad!

In the early days of Legends, I was scooping up the Spider-Man figures. Then, finally, a super-articulated Spidey! Man, it’s amazing how small things like that could get a collector excited. Miss those days for sure.
I think the Blade figures were the prototypes for the Legends series. Each figure had a lot of articulation and way more detail than other Toy Biz action figures at the time. I wish I knew where my Blade figure was now.

The last Replicade machine that had a trackball was their original Centipede cabinet. While it was a pretty good replica, and the controls were pretty good for the size, the thing could benefit from a bit of tweaking. Unfortunately, it looks like New Wave Toys did just that. You’ve got to be pretty accurate if you’re going to hit those missiles on a tiny screen.

Missile Command x RepliCade features our new & improved, smooth rolling Trak-Ball XL™, CRT FX™ a convex transparent lens that looks like a CRT Television, fully customizable dipswitch and cabinet settings menu, and runs the original arcade Missile Command ROM.

The standard edition of the Missile Command cabinet will have the following features:

  • Replica Missile Command cabinet in 1/6th scale 11-5/8 inches tall
  • Trak-Ball XL™ free-spinning, extra-large Trak-Ball that provides smooth & accurate control
  • CRT FX™ convex, transparent lens that transforms LCD screen to look-like a CRT Television screen
  • Plays the original arcade Missile Command ROM
  • Arcade Operator’s menu with customizable dip switch and cabinet settings
  • Cabinet constructed from premium materials: MDF wood, diecast metal, and plastic
  • Illuminated marquee and cabinet accents
  • RepliCade signature amplified mono audio reproduction with volume control
  • High-resolution cabinet art reproduction on quality 3M vinyl overlays
  • Diecast metal coin door with storage compartments
  • High score saving with non-volatile memory
  • Built-in, high-capacity rechargeable battery
  • Premium LCD color screen 4:3 aspect ratio (horizontal orientation)
  • Officially licensed by Atari
  • 100-Day New Wave Factory Warranty

The Field Test release will have the same features as above, but with a few extras:

  • Field-Test Backlit Marquee Panel
  • Preproduction Side Panel, Bezel & CPO artwork
  • Preproduction 3-coin slot coin door
  • Limited Edition / Individually numbered

Logan’s New Iron Studios Statue Is Ready To Slice And Dice

0

Iron Studios just keeps kicking out new statues that are gonna make me go bankrupt, brah! Next on the block, we’ve got Logan atop a downed Sentinel. The mutant known for his brutality is depicted here at 1/10th scale and has seen some action.
His adamantium-coated skeleton is showing underneath some deep lacerations. Yet, as he always does, Logan is not about to let a few temporary wounds keep him from getting to his prey.
Iron Studios is currently taking pre-orders for the statue that is due out sometime between October and December 2022. Logan will run you $179.99. The statue is 7.8″ (H) x 7″ (W) x 6.3″ (D) and will weigh about 2 lbs.

Iron Studios

Iron Studios presents the statue “Logan – X-Men – BDS Art Scale 1/10”, inspired by the civil identity of the most popular X-Men. Wearing his best-known look, a leather jacket, t-shirt, and jeans, he’s ready to defend the friends and allies he considers family, against the attack of the Sentinel robots controlled by Magneto, and a legion of mutant villains. They are all part of the largest statue diorama ever made on this scale.

Something I’d really like is a Fatal Attractions story arc statue. You know the one. That mid-1990s story where Magneto pulled all the adamantium from Logan’s body, and we finally got to learn more about the legendary mutant. I remember my job dropped as I read the following issue when it was revealed that Wolverine’s claws were part of his body the whole time. That entire panel made my hands hurt.
Oof. As someone who has severely hurt his knuckles in a motorcycle accident, I can tell you that having bones sticking out of your hands is not pleasant in any way, shape, or form.
What are your thoughts on this new Logan statue? Will you be adding it to your collection? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments section.

Fena Voice Actress Asami Seto Discusses Her Character On ‘Fena: Pirate Princess’

‘Fena: Pirate Princess’ is a Japanese anime that is produced by Production I.G as well as a co-production between Crunchyroll and Adult Swim. Directed by Kazuto Nakazawa, the story follows protagonist Fena Houtman, an orphan who discovers her past may hold the key to “Eden.”
Voice actress Asami Seto has had many roles including Akira Mado in ‘Tokyo Ghoul,’ Jessica in ‘Granblue Fantasy The Animation,’ Raphtalia in ‘The Rising of the Shield Hero,’ and Fena in ‘Fena: Pirate Princess.’ She recently sat down with Crunchyroll News to discuss the role and how it was different from past roles.
“When I hear “pirates,” I think of pirate ships, treasure, and exploring uncharted lands. There are many famous works in film and anime that have pirates as their themes, so when I read the story of Fena: Pirate Princess, it was easy for me to imagine what the world would be like,” she explained.
“I’ve portrayed many different characters, and with the role of Fena, something I paid a lot of attention to is how forthright she is,” Seto replied when asked about how Fena differed from other roles. “She tends to act upon what she thinks is right, which can seem self-centered at times, so I thought a lot about how to convey that with an uncompromising manner of speech.”
When asked how she approached the role, she replied, “Both the director and screenwriter treasure Fena, so I tried to find hints about her in the character design, the way she moves in the animation, and in the stage directions in the scripts. After we started recording, I tried to discover who she was as a person through her interactions with other characters.”
You can check out the trailer for ‘Fena: Pirate Princess’ below:

According to the synopsis, “Fena: Pirate Princess tells the tale of a young orphan girl, Fena Houtman, living in a fantastic alternate history version of the 18th century. Fena has been raised on an island where there is no hope of escaping the dark destiny forced upon her by her captors, to be used and discarded by the soldiers of the British Empire. But Fena is more than just another powerless orphan. When her mysterious past comes knocking, Fena will break the chains of her oppressors. Her goal: escape her captors, forge a new identity, and search for a place where she can truly belong and find out the true mystery behind the keyword: “Eden.” It’s the story of the adventure of a lifetime she and her crew of misfits and unlikely allies will have, in pursuit of her goals!”

Tom DeFalco Returns To His Comic Book Roots With ‘The R.I.G.H.T. Project’

Former Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Tom DeFalco is a name that nerd know when it comes to comic books. He has written dozens of comics and graphic novels including Spider-Man, Spider-Girl, Thor, and Fantastic Four. He has also written Hawkman and Superboy for DC Comics. He is now creating an indie comic book titled ‘The R.I.G.H.T. Project,’ using crowdfunding to fund the project.
DeFalco recently sat down with First Comics News to describe the project and its science fiction nature.
“The R.I.G.H.T. Project stands for Reality Integrated Gravitic Hologram Technology—a scientific process that gives mass to holograms,” he explained. “It is also an Indiegogo Campaign that features a 32-page comic book with two complete 11-page stories (and, if our stretch goals are reached, an additional complete 5 pages) produce by Ron Frenz, Sal Buscema, Bob Sharen, Glenn Whitmore, Jack Morelli, and me.”
He continued, “He is the original hologram designed by Professor Click, based on someone who means a lot to the Professor and his niece. However, he soon becomes the new champ of split-second action after Jeffrey Lopez “adjusts” his computer program.”
When asked who Professor Click was, DeFalco replied, “He is our master scientist, the genius behind the R.I.G.H.T. Project, and the uncle & guardian of Carlyn Clink, who is a close friend of Jeffrey Lopez.”
Further explaining Mr. R.I.G.H.T., he said, “Mr. R.I.G.H.T. is a new type of superhero for a new age. He doesn’t have a traditional secret identity or private life. How and where he exists when his program isn’t engaged will be revealed in time.”
DeFalco announced that he and his collaborators are making plans for two further issues.
You can take a look at the cover below:

According to the synopsis from their website, “At last! A superhero for anyone who sincerely loves superheroes. A teenage video-gamer joins a digital daredevil for truth, justice and a universe of Hoo-HA action & angst. While working on the R.I.G.H.T. Project, an attempt to develop a new technology that allows computer constructs to assume physical mass, Doctor Dex Click stumbles upon the new champ of split-second adventure. But Mr. R.I.G.H.T. is little more than a soulless animatronic until he bonds with Jeffrey “Player One” Lopez. Since Jeffrey is a true believer, he helps transform a heartless avatar into a compassionate and relentless hero—the true hero who lives within us all!”

Interview: Scott ‘Toy Guru’ Neitlich Talks Mattel, He-Man, The Toy Industry

Remember Matty Collector? Ah, those were the days when it was exciting to be a toy collector. Mattel was hitting home run after home run with DC Classics, Ghostbusters, and Masters of the Universe figures. The renowned toy company even produced excellent replicas like the Ghost Trap, Neutrona Wand, PKE Meter, and Marty McFly’s Hoverboard.
Scott ‘Toy Guru’ Neitlich of Spector Creative is the man we have to thank for quite a lot of Mattel’s collectibles from the late 2000s and early 2010s. Scott was a brand manager for Mattel, and in his own personal time, he helped He-Man establish a foothold in the collectors market after having been dormant for many years.
We spoke with the Toy Guru about his experiences in the toy industry and where it could be headed in the future. Check out our interview here:

Scott has many videos dedicated to not only the Masters of the Universe and DC Classics lines, but he also covers Mattel’s Ghostbusters figures and toy trends. Wonder why so many pegs are empty at your local retailer? Mr. Neitlich has an answer. There are hours and hours of information to be found at the Spector Creative YouTube Channel.

Hasbro’s HasLab Teases A Possible Ghostbusters’ Proton Pack Project

On October 27th, Hasbro’s crowdfunding unit HasLab will be announcing something huge. This week, it has been teased that the toy company may be using HasLab as the place for Ghostbusters fans to get an officially licensed, full-sized Proton Pack.
Ghostbusters News posted a video of the tease along with a still that shows the pack under a tarp, teasing the 1:1 prop.

GhostbustersNews.com

It’s interesting to note that the neutrino wand isn’t shown in the video. I own the Spengler thrower, and it has a detachable end so you can connect a hose, but I did not observe any other connection that could make it interact with a separate prop.
It would be safe to say that Hasbro will launch a new, maybe original version of the wand that has to be purchased separately to keep the overall cost of the pack down. I like the Spengler version, but I’d prefer to have something more in line with the original.
When Matty Collector was throwing around the idea of doing a replica proton pack, the company had some foresight and built a 3.5mm jack into their wand. Sadly, that day never came, and the pack met the same fate as the Ecto-1 that would have been in scale with the company’s 6″ Ghostbuster figures.
OK, Hasbro won’t be the first company to offer a licensed pack, but it will probably be the most affordable. Avonos, before being rebranded and shuttering its Ghostbusters merchandise, offered a replica of the prop. However, from what I’ve read on forums, it wasn’t the greatest and was heavily based on a pre-existing fan replica kit.
Mack’s Factory also offers a build-a-pack line of parts, but the core of the piece still isn’t available to order, and I’m one of those who signed up to pre-order it. The nice thing about this avenue is that most of the parts are metal.
Make sure to check HasLab’s website on the 27th to see exactly what they’re going to announce. I hope that this pack is under $1,000.
What are your thoughts and guesses? Let us know in the comments.
