3D Print Your Own One-Handed PS5 Dualsense Controller Adaptor

Accessibility still has a long way to go when it comes to console controllers. Microsoft made a few big leaps with the Adaptive Controller, but Sony lagged behind. Luckily independent engineers are filling in the gap with devices anyone can make with a 3D printer.
Fellow engineer Akaki Kuumeri has designed a 3D printed device that attaches to the PS5’s Dualsense controller, allowing someone to use the device with one hand. We spotted this first over at Eurogamer. Kuumeri designed this adaptor during Pursa Printer’s Controller Mod Contest.

The thumbstick is controller by moving the whole controller. Rest the controller on your lap or the table, and move it around. Its motions are transmitted to the thumbstick. There is a 4-to-1 mechanical advantage going on, so you can get good precision even with rougher motions.
The rubber shoe that the device rests on is designed so you can balance the whole controller on top of it, so as not to tire your wrist. If you place it on your lap, you can feel side-to-side input as a rolling motion, and up-and-down input as a dragging motion, giving you good feedback as to where the two separate axes are.
The shoulder buttons are migrated over to the other side, where you can use your index finger to push all four. They’re placed so that pushing L2 and R2 simultaneously is possible (many games use L2 for aim + R2 to shoot, for instance).

The device looks compact enough to be loaded into even the smaller-sized ABS, PLC, or resin printers. Akaki has made the file available for download via his Pursa Printers page. Once printed and assembled, the invention can be manipulated with one hand and knee. The rig is modular, allowing the user only to attach what he/she needs. The model is also ambidextrous. The default model is for the left thumbstick, but if you need it for the right side, simply mirror the print when slicing it.
Improving accessibility via 3D printing isn’t new. You can find any number of inventions on Thingiverse or Prusa Printers that can help make everyday tasks easier for those with a particular need.

LAPD Officers Fired For Playing Pokemon GO On Duty

Two members of the Los Angeles Police Department were fired from their positions after it came out that the two had ignored robbery-in-progress calls so they could play Pokemon GO while on duty.
The two were fired in April 2017, but recent court filings show that the two tried to appeal their firing, but the California Courts of Appeal denied their appeal in January 2022.
The officers were hunting a Snorlax when the call came in, but the two ignored it to “catch ’em all.” The Anime News Network reports that “the former officers were working as partners on a foot beat patrol on April 15, 2017. When the patrol supervisor heard a call for a robbery in progress at Crenshaw Mall, he attempted to radio Lozano and Mitchell’s unit for backup but received no response. Upon questioning, the officers lied that they had not heard the call. A digital in-car video system (DICVS) recording later revealed that not only had the unit received the call, it had been situated only a short distance from the scene of the crime.”
The report describes the incident as follows,
“When their car stopped again, the DICVS recorded Mitchell saying, “Don’t run away. Don’t run away,” while Lozano described how he “buried it and ultra-balled” the Togetic before announcing, “Got him.” Mitchell advised he was “[s]till trying to catch it,” adding, “Holy crap, man. This thing is fighting the crap out of me.” Eventually Mitchell exclaimed, “Holy Crap. Finally,” apparently in reference to capturing the Togetic, and he remarked, “The[ ] guys are going to be so jealous.” Petitioners then agreed to return to the 7-Eleven (where Sergeant Gomez later met them) to end their watch. On the way, Mitchell remarked, ‘I got you a new Pokémon today, dude.'”
A board of rights agreed they were fired based on “multiple counts of misconduct” though the officers deny any wrongdoing.

‘Wonder Woman’ Star Gal Gadot Dishes On Cleopatra Film

The upcoming Cleopatra biopic has been a movie with many changes during its pre-production. Originally, Angeline Jolie was set t produce, direct, and star in a film about the historical figure before ‘Monster’ director Patty Jenkins became attached to this rendition. Jenkins departed shortly after casting ‘Wonder Woman’ star Gal Gadot as Cleopatra with Kari Skogland now taking over the director’s chair.
Gadot’s casting has been met with some ire considering Cleopatra’s role in ancient Egypt’s politics, though she herself was not Egyptian. Despite this, the ‘Justice League’ star stated how she is looking forward to being a part of the project.
“I can’t reveal a lot, but I can tell you that we’re going to celebrate the Cleopatra story,” Gadot said in an interview with InStyle. “We’re going to show not just how sexy and appealing she was, but how strategic and smart, and how much impact she had and still has on the world we’re living in today. I’ve watched all the Cleopatra movies throughout history, but I feel like we’re telling the story the world needs to hear now.”
Digital Spy notes that she had previously defended her casting as Cleopatra.
“First of all if you want to be true to the facts then Cleopatra was Macedonian,” Gadot noted. “We were looking for a Macedonian actress that could fit Cleopatra. She wasn’t there, and I was very passionate about Cleopatra.”
“I want to celebrate the legacy of Cleopatra and honour this amazing historic icon that I admire so much. But anybody can make this movie, and anybody can go ahead and do it. I’m very passionate that I’m going to do my own too,” she continued.
Gadot also took time to mention a third Wonder Woman film saying to InStyle, “We’re developing the script right now. We’ll probably start in a year and a half or so.”

I’m not a massive fan of the recent IT films. So much characterization was left out, especially when it comes to Mike. On the other hand, Pennywise was pretty compelling, until the very end, at least. The costume matched the book, but the face makeup tried too hard to be creepy. It was like watching a budget Juggalo mildly frighten some teens.
Stranger Things was a blessing and a curse. It snagged many great cues from ’80s horror and adventure films, but then everyone tried to copy the Stranger Things look. IT suffered from that hard. The story of the Losers needs to be told through an extended mini-series. 10-20 episodes, R-rated, and flesh out the characters. That’s the formula to win when adapting these lengthy Stephen King universes.

This fishy fiend is priced at $29.99 and will start shipping in March of 2022. He comes with the same accessories as the version released not too long ago.

Harboring a detailed paint job and a swimmingly articulated form, the Amazonian Gill-man is a sensational glow-in-the-dark figure that can be posed in a multitude of mannerisms using his alternate head sculpt, an alternate hand, a harpoon gun, a net, and a bony hand! The additional head and hand also glow. We’d previously covered Jada’s 6″ Universal Monsters toys here. The figures captured a lot of elements of the original black and white horror icons. Jada is typically known for non-articulate miniatures, but I’m impressed with what they’ve shown off so far. Sadly, their Bela Lugosi Dracula misses the mark when it comes to the face.
It’s hard to mess up The Creature. However, I admit that the face isn’t quite a match for the on-screen counterpart. Regardless, the glow-in-the-dark feature more than makes up for it. If he illuminates as brilliantly as the images show, I’d make him a fixture in a fish tank or customer diorama.

Gotham City is suffering from a crime wave. Batman has been missing for years. The Joker is vegetative, and Harvey Dent has undergone “successful” plastic surgery. Bruce Wayne must stir out of retirement to face the oncoming storm from old villains and old allies.
Holy crap, did Sideshow Collectibles make a massive Batman statue. Look at that thing! The statue stands at 31.5″ high by 22″ wide and 21.5″ deep. Bats is a big boy, weighing in at 22lbs. Considering other statues we’ve covered in the past, this one is a bit of a bargain. The Premium Format Dark Knight is only $675. He’ll be shipping out sometime between June and August 2022.

The polyresin Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Premium Format Figure is fully sculpted and features detailed textures and paint applications that bring this famous design to life in three dimensions. Batman’s costume shows signs of weathering and distress, covered in slashes and blood splatters resulting from his brutal fighting style. His immense cape curls behind him as he descends to the city below, and his raised right hand has Batarang claws between his knuckles. Bruce Wayne’s aging face is hidden beneath his short-eared cowl, with a bloody nose and a determined scowl. Bright highlights of blue and white are reflected throughout key areas of this Batman statue to give the illusion of a blinding flash, adding depth and realism to the Dark Knight’s triumphant reappearance.

Personally, I would have preferred a clean version of Batman, rather than the bloodied and beat-up one. But, at least the artists kept his intimidating bulky frame from The Dark Knight Returns. How’d anyone NOT know that thick Bruce Wayne was Batman? The guy was a solid slab of beef!

The Bob’s Burgers Movie Trailer Is Tempting, Sizzling, and Sexy

It was bound to happen. The Belcher family managed to drag their fledgling burger shop into a feature-length animated movie. The Bob’s Burgers Movie is indeed happening, and 20th Century Studios just released the official trailer for it.
The Bob’s Burgers Movie will be in theatres only [yay!] on May 27th. Judging from the trailer below, don’t expect something on the scale of The Simpson’s Movie. This looks and feels like just a longer episode of the show, which isn’t a bad thing at all. Bob’s Burgers has remained a quirky yet endearing staple of the Fox animation lineup since 2011.

The story begins when a ruptured water main creates an enormous sinkhole right in front of Bob’s Burgers, blocking the entrance indefinitely and ruining the Belchers’ plans for a successful summer. While Bob and Linda struggle to keep the business afloat, the kids try to solve a mystery that could save their family’s restaurant. As the dangers mount, these underdogs help each other find hope and fight to get back behind the counter, where they belong.

I’ve been a fan of Bob’s Burgers since it aired. Sometimes the secondary characters can get a bit grating, but Louise and Gene always draw me back in. It’s not the quality of the animation or even the story structure that makes Bob’s Burgers enjoyable to watch. It’s the voice acting. H. Jon Benjamin, John Roberts, Dan Mintz, Eugene Mirman, and Kristen Schaal have great chemistry as the Belchers.
Oh, and we loved Lousie so much that we got our daughter a pink bunny ear hat.

Don’t ya just hate when you buy some Bitcoin, and it goes from being worth thousands to hundreds in a matter of hours? Wish there was a better way? Sadly, Billy Mayes isn’t here to offer us an easy solution to the cryptocurrency stability issue, but PayPal might.
PC Mag is reporting that the long-time online payment company may be looking to start its own currency, but with a bit more stability behind it. Apparently, someone found the term “PayPal Coin” while snooping around the company’s iOS app.
This could just be a placeholder for an upcoming cryptocurrency feature since PayPal already allows you to buy and sell via a number of alternative payment methods. Or it could be the indication that the longtime online payment company could be looking to dip toes in the volatile market.
In a statement to Bloomberg, PayPal’s senior VP of crypto and digital currencies, Jose Fernandez da Ponte, downplayed the discovery saying, “We are exploring a stablecoin. If and when we seek to move forward, we will, of course, work closely with relevant regulators.”
Stablecoin, as the name suggests, is a digital currency that is backed by something tangible. If you’ve dabbled in the crypto market, you’ll know how quickly the value of these currencies can change. Stablecoin looks to limit the fluctuations by having the digi-bucks held up by something like the US Dollar or gold.
I would rather keep dealing with cash. Although I have to pay double for groceries now, maybe the dollar isn’t quite the go-to that it used to be. Regardless, I’ve dealt with PayPal for years, and the company doesn’t always inspire confidence.
I need something a bit more reliable—something like Bernie Bucks or Paul Hogan Simoleons. I want the value of my currency to be tied to a politician or celebrity. They’ll never let me down. Never…

Superman and Batman have struggled against each other for decades. This feud came to a head in Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns. 1986 saw the two DC icons battle to the “death” that pulled no punches.
The two-pack of the heroic titans is priced at $41.99. The DC Multiverse Superman VS. Armored Batman two-pack is estimated to ship in March 2022. The iconic battle could be reenacted in the comfort of your own home if you were to pre-order from Big Bad Toy Store.

The one thing I’ve found off-putting about the McFarlane toys was the faces. They always look off to me, personally. When it comes to Frank Miller’s art, sometimes it’s a good idea to smooth out some of those features. Superman looks like Phyllis Diller on steroids. What works on paper doesn’t always translate when to a physical model. I don’t think anyone, from DC Direct to McFarlane have managed to do this version of Superman right, to be honest.
Regardless, it turned out really well in animated form a few years ago:

The Dark Knight Returns was a fantastic story of a retired Bruce Wayne donning the mantle of the Bat once again. His battle against the rampant crime in Gotham City draws the attention of Superman, who has become an agent of the US government.
The McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse line skews towards the 7″ tall figures, making them taller than the Marvel Legends figures. I’m not sure how well they sell because the toys always appear to be fully stocked when I go to Target. Much like the Eternals and Shang Chi Marvel Legends figures, they never seem to move off the shelves.

Hughie Campbell Makes A Guest Appearance On Vought’s Seven on 7

Poor Hughie. Even when he is trying to do things on the up and up, he has to battle uphill. In the 7th episode of Vought News Network’s Seven on 7 with Cameron Coleman, the Translucent Killer Hughie Campbell is the guest and immediately faces a harsh Coleman.
Now working with the Federal Bureau of Superhuman Affairs (FBSA), Hughie takes the brunt of Vought’s talking head. The FBSA was formed near the conclusion of The Boys‘ second season, no doubt an outright threat to Vought and could expose many more of the company’s dirty dealings.
You’ll see the less than subtle references to our current news media’s thirst to protect their interest in the clip below. Let’s hope it doesn’t get as carried away with the 2016 politics as the second season. Phew. It was like watching a live stream of the worst of Twitter’s blue checkmarks’ wet dreams.

Earlier today, we covered the news that The Boys will be premiering its third season on Amazon Video come June 3rd, 2022. Judging by the short teaser below, Homelander is under some serious mental distress. He lost his son, the mother of his child, and his evil soulmate all in one day. So just how far can you push a man with seemingly unlimited superpowers before he snaps?

We’ve seen that Amazon’s The Boys departs quite a bit from comic book series created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. With so many changes, who knows what is going to happen this season. Though, if I had to guess, I wouldn’t doubt that we’ll probably see Homelander attempt to take over the White House. What does he have left to lose?
