The time-traveling fame-obsessed superhero Booster Gold has arrived in the CW show ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ played by ‘The Exes’ and ‘Scrubs’ star Donald Faison. While Faison had been introduced prior to the ending of the show, his identity was kept a secret until recently, revealing his persona at the end of the seventh season.
Showrunner Phil Klemmer spoke with DC Universe about the character’s arrival in the “Arrowverse.”
“None of us were expecting it to happen,” he said. “I credit DC Creative Director Kim Roberto. I don’t know who she strong-armed, bribed, cajoled or charmed in order to get the green light on this. It was beyond our wildest dreams. We wanted to bring out a new character, we wanted to thrill our DC fans, but this was like order of magnitudes beyond what we thought was possible. And then to couple that with the exciting casting news of Donald Faison, it almost makes me want to blush. I’m sure we don’t deserve this, but we’ll happily take it.”
Speaking about Faison taking over the role, he said, “He’s hilarious, he’s a gifted actor, and to find out that he geeks out on the same stuff that our fans do. I’m a believer that the spirit in which people do something, whatever the thing is, just infuses it. He’s on the screen for something, like, seven or eight minutes maybe in the finale, but for every one of those moments, that guy’s not just working, that guy is having a blast. It raises everybody’s level when somebody comes in and they love the material, and they raise the material. I can’t wait to start writing him, because I feel like we barely got to know this guy.”
Possible spoilers, here is a clip where Booster Gold first appears in the series:
Booster Gold was created by comic book writer Dan Jurgens in 1986 when he made his first appearance in a self-titled comic book series. He would go on to become a staple of the Justice League and became a recurring character in the animated show ‘Justice League Unlimited.’

Alf Finds New Home With Shout Factory
The loveable alien Gordon Shumway aka Alf was featured on a television sitcom ‘ALF’ that showed the extraterrestrial from Melmac living with a family in California, dodging government agents and nosy neighbors for four seasons from 1986 to 1990. The show would also have two animated spin-offs and a movie that resolved the cliffhanger left by the TV show. After rumors of reboots, a failed talk show, and a canceled new film purposed by creator Paul Fusco, Alf has found a new home with Shout Factory which pledges new content.
“Shout! Factory, a multi-platform media company, and Alien Productions announced a landmark distribution alliance to bring the iconic and fan-favorite ALF television library to digital entertainment platforms in the U.S.,” Shout Factory said on their website. “The multi-year alliance provides Shout! Factory and its multi-platform streaming service, Shout! Factory TV with exclusive U.S. rights (digital, broadcast, and home entertainment packaged media) to Alien Productions’ ALF content properties, including 102 episodes of the live-action series ALF, 26 episodes of ALF: The Animated Series, 21 episodes of ALF Tales (animated), and television movie Project: ALF for home entertainment releases and digital distribution across select entertainment platforms in North America.”
They add, “Leveraging unparalleled access to archived content and the original broadcast masters from Alien Productions, Shout! Factory TV plans an aggressive rollout of ALF pop culture content on all its platforms this year. As excitement builds, Shout! Factory TV and Alien Productions will announce additional news and activities in the forthcoming months.”
Fusco expressed his enthusiasm for the move in a statement with Brian Patchett.
“Shout! Factory is the home-away-from-Melmac that ALF has been looking for,” they said. “We’re looking forward to bringing you ALF in a totally new way — with new content, unseen art, and restored footage not seen in 30 years. This is the moment ALF fans have been waiting for.”
Alf was also featured in animated form in the ‘Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue’ which featured many staples of Saturday morning animation working with a young boy who is being tempted by an evil cloud.
Sony Pictures Drops Final ‘Morbius’ Trailer
Sony Pictures has dropped the final trailer for their expansion of the so-called Sony’s Spider-Man Universe with ‘Morbius,’ starring Jared Leto as the vampire Michael Morbius.
“The darkness inside him will be unleashed, in theaters on April 1,” Marvel Studios said in a press release. “The final trailer for Morbius is here, and the thrilling video opens with Michael Keaton’s Adrian Toomes aka Vulture telling Jared Leto’s Dr. Michael Morbius, ‘Discover who you’re meant to be,’ to which Matt Smith’s Milo affirms, ‘The bad guy.'”
We also see appearances from Tyrese Gibson and Jared Harris in the footage, which shows Morbius taking out several enemies.
You can watch the trailer here:
“Morbius appeared first as an antagonist in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN in 1971, and eventually evolved into more of an anti-hero,” Leto told the Marvel Universe website. “For years before that, Marvel was actually forbidden from using characters considered more on the supernatural side,” Leto continues. “It was a really big deal when Morbius finally made his debut. He was part of a much darker term within Marvel; one that, fortunately, fans fully embraced. After all, one loves a good monster story. There is something about the character that stoked people’s imaginations. It really can grab a hold of you; it certainly did with me.”
Morbius the Living Vampire was created by comic book writer Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kane.
“One of the most compelling and conflicted characters in Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters comes to the big screen as Oscar winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic anti-hero Dr. Michael Morbius in the upcoming theatrical release of Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. While at first it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil – or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges,” Marvel says.
While Morbius did make his first appearance in the pages of Spider-Man, he would take on a starring role in ‘Adventure into Fear’ before appearing in various capacities before he would get his own title in 1992.
NECA’s The Last Ronin Figure Is A Shirtless Ninja Turtle
The tragic tale of the remaining Ninja Turtle in the IDW comic The Last Ronin has seen a massive uptick in merchandise lately. We’ve recently covered a new Playmates figure and this fantastic statue. NECA is entering the mix with an almost light-hearted look at the survivor.
We’re looking at the “unarmored” Turtle as he appears in the IDW comic book. The armored version is fantastic, but I find this one way more amusing as a display piece. The dude wants to sit down away from the battle with his chubby robo-dog and relax. However, he’s still packed with many weapons and accessories and not one slice of pizza in sight.
The Last Ronin stands at 7″ tall. As a result, he is pricier than NECA’s other Ninja Turtle action figures. He will run you close to $35 to $40 on sites like the Big Bad Toy Store and Entertainment Earth. The same goes for the armored version of the character.
In a future NYC far different than the one we know today, a lone surviving Turtle goes on a seemingly hopeless mission to obtain justice for his fallen family and friends. This unarmored version of The Last Ronin action figure is authentic to the comic book depiction and stands in 7” scale.
The Last Ronin comes with the following:
- Mouser
- Tonfa
- Ninja star
- Throwing knives
- Splinter’s journal
- Nunchucks
- Broken sword
- Interchangeable head and hands.
- Collector-friendly window box packaging with opening flap featuring a custom illustration
I wonder which other characters from the comic book will show up in the NECA line. The company has covered many of the most famous people, mutants, and aliens from the movies and 1987 cartoon. So who do you want to show up from the Last Ronin story? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

We’re Berry Ready for Strawberry Shortcake’s Return Via Boss Fight Studios
Boss Fight Studios may be known for making action figures from classic properties like Flash Gordon, Zorro, Popeye, and Sam & Max, but now the company is delving into a little nicer and sweeter franchise.
We discovered, thanks to Figures.com, that Boss Fight is going to take on a berry familiar franchise that that has seen several restarts over the past few years. Yes, Strawberry Shortcake brings berries, pies, niceness, and cuteness back … again.
There’s not a whole lot of info. The toys have yet to show up on Boss Fight’s website, but we have pictures of the first four figures: Strawberry Shortcake, Orange Blossom, Lime Chiffon, and Huckleberry Pie. We know that the figures will be available for pre-order sometime this month at Boss Fight Studios.
The figures will come with many accessories and secondary characters based on the photos, much like Super7’s Ultimates line. Each figure looks like they have 11+ points of articulation. Will these figures be scented like the classic ’80s toys? When will we get the Peculiar Purple Pieman of Porcupine Peak? And the biggest question is: where is Bitch Pudding?
What always amused me was that Fred Wolf was also responsible for the very mature and raunchy Down and Dirty Duck animated movie. His animation style and character designs are very apparent in both.
Is Strawberry Shortcake too innocent for today’s world? Will you be picking up these figures thanks to nostalgia? Let us know in the comments section below.

Goonies Prop Replicas! Copper Bones, Doubloon, & One-Eyed Willy’s Map!
A limited-edition set of replica props from The Goonies, the 1985 Richard Donner classic, is being produced by Paragon FX Group! The artists at Paragon worked what Warner Brothers to use only the most screen accurate references and surviving original props to make sure that you get top-quality replicas as a fan of the film.
Paragon’s Goonies box set will include One-Eyed Willy’s map, the Copper Bones Key, and the Doubloon. Each replica is fully licensed and is limited to only 1,500 pieces. The estimated release date is Spring of this year, and the box will be priced at $199.99.
Numerous versions [of The Copper Bones Key] are purported to be from production have surfaced over the years. In the end, we were greatly inspired by a surviving key that remains with a prominent actor from the film. The decision was then made to cast this piece in metal and finish with a proper patina, befitting of a relic of its age and origin.

The Spanish Doubloon is also cast in metal and was sized from an original prop. As with the key, the proper patina ensures this piece becomes a cherished part of your collection.

After extensive research, Amblin provided Paragon FX Group with the reference for Willy’s map. A surviving map that was given away as a ‘wrap gift’ at the film’s completion serves as the base for this replica. As with the original, additional text and misc. indicia was added to complete the replica which is offered here on quality parchment-like paper.
