Mezco’s cast of oddballs is expanding! The big bad bruiser, Slugfest, has joined the Rumble Society as the latest One:12 Collective member!
Slugfest may be one of the most unique figures in the 6″ tall collection. The brawler has two head portraits that light up and several swappable hands. Although he’s not packing as many accessories as we typically see, the inclusion of his pet mech known as B3GO— the Arachnidoodle makes up for that.
No pre-orders are necessary because Slugfest is available right now! He’ll set you back only $100.

“Former pit-fighter and 6-time, undisputed champ of the Rumble Arena – Kill Fighter Contest , Slugfest left all that behind for reasons unknown. He now lives a relatively secluded life with his companion, B3GO, tending to Pete’s Discardatory, where he runs his Emporium of Badassery and “resolves” situations for the right price. When you need something fixed, ya call in Slugfest!”
Slugfest, like all One:12 Collective figures, comes with loads of accessories and interchangeable parts:
One:12 Collective body with over 28 points of articulation
Two (2) interchangeable light-up heads
Hand painted authentic detailing
Approximately 19 cm tall
Seven (6) interchangeable robot hands
Two (2) posing hands (L)
One (1) pulverizing hand with three (3) rotating spiked wheels (L)
One (1) holding hand (L&R)
One (1) devil horns hand (R)
Pete’s Discardatory standard-issue jumpsuit with functional zipper
Work boots
One (1) jug of diesel-based moonshine with removable cork
One (1) removable leash
One (1) Hodgepodge hatchet
One (1) anvil on a chain
One (1) B3GO Arachnidoodle mech pet with 6 points of articulation and a hinged jaw
Mezco has really been hitting it out of the park with their original characters and some criminally underutilized IPs, like The Shadow.
We have no idea what has been happening at Twitter (X) since Elon Musk took over. For a while, things looked like they were improving. Then word spread that the block button was going away. Now, we know for sure that another function of the social media platform is getting the boot. Circles are officially getting shut down.
Circles was a tool that enabled Twitter users to create posts visible only to people on a custom list. It was an easy way to post to a select number of people without having to use DMs.
The announcement was hidden away in X’s Help Center. Elon Musk’s platform didn’t explain why the posting option was being discontinued, but we know it will be extinct come October 31st. Musk had previously said that DMs and Communities would upgraded, possibly making Circles obsolete.
“X is deprecating Circles as of October 31st, 2023. After this date, you will not be able to create new posts that are limited to your Circle, nor will you be able to add people to your Circle. You will, however, be able to remove people from your Circle …”
The Help Center post continues with step-by-step instructions regarding removing users from your Circles. I haven’t been able to see who is in my Circles for months. Considering the private post-creation option had been screwed up for a while, does this really matter now?
Odds are, the limited-reaching post tool is being deleted to ensure that as many posts as possible are open to advertisers. Maybe Musk will let Neuralink patients continue to use the feature as part of the treatment.
What do you think about Circles and the option’s impending doom? Let us know in the comments section below. Or create a Circles post and include us in it!
Sentai Filmworks announced a slate of Blu-ray releases for October 2023. The DVDs will feature fantasy, action, comedy, isekai, and drama anime series. Some feature an English dub and others will be released in their original Japanese with English subtitles.

Protecting the land from monsters is a noble profession, but Kikuru wants to retire from the Guild and explore other options while he’s still young. Before he can ride off into the sunset, however, he’ll have to find acceptable replacements to care for the Guild in his absence. Lucky for him, four new recruits just turned in their applications! The catch? They’re all young women, and the local monster population has been developing some VERY disturbing new appetites when it comes to female adventurers. Now Kikuru must guide Hitamuki, Maidena, Toxico and Hanabata through one sticky situation after another as he tries to leave the IMMORAL GUILD!
Blade And Soul (10/24/2023)

Now, even though there is a price on her own head, Alka must honor the Code by which she was raised. Her clan will be avenged. No matter how mighty the armies of the Param Empire and the demonic powers of their battle leader Jin Valel may seem, no matter how many assassins and bounty hunters they send to vanquish her, nothing will stop the emotionless killing machine they have unleashed upon themselves. For this is her final mission and she will cut that path of wrath through their screaming flesh in BLADE & SOUL!
The dubbed anime series was also revealed on their website:
The Eminence in Shadow Season 1 (10/10/2023)
Cid doesn’t want to be a flashy hero or a dastardly villain. He wants to operate in the shadows and pull the strings of society through wit and cleverness. So, when he’s isekai’d to another world armed with magic powers (and an overactive imagination), he forms Shadow Garden, an underground organization that fights an evil cult he totally made up. But while Cid happily roleplays his favorite antihero tropes, little does he know Shadow Garden’s recruits treat his every lie as gospel, and worse yet? That “fake” cult is actually real, and they’re not happy his power fantasy just impeded their plan to gain ultimate power in THE EMINENCE IN SHADOW!
Love, Chunibyo, and Other Delusions (10/10/2023)
Some people hate standing out from the crowd. Others are desperate to, sometimes even living inside a fantasy of their own making where they have secret knowledge and hidden powers. This is “chunibyo”, a condition that Yuta Togashi lived with for several years. But he’s done with that now and would be looking forward to his first year in high school… Except the girl who lives above him is still a chuni and believes that Yuta’s her soul mate! And when Yuta’s previous “one true soul mate” comes back into his life with her own chuni version of reality, Yuta may just have to surrender to the inevitable in the complete mind-twisting, multi-series collection of LOVE, CHUNIBYO, AND OTHER DELUSIONS!
Chihayafuru Season 3 (10/17/2023)
Chihaya Ayase’s obsession with the card game Karuta has already begun to bear fruit, and the fledgling Mizusawa High School competitive team that she helped form has stunned the karuta playing community by winning the national high school team tournament. That’s just the beginning for Chihaya, however, and now the young card mistress has set her sights on an even more impossible task: taking on grand master Wakamiya Shinobu and wresting the title of Queen away for herself. As difficult as everything has been before, it will seem easy compared to the task now ahead of her, and her teammates look to be equally challenged, especially Taichi Mashima, who’s finally made it to Class A. Has he finally learned enough to challenge Arata Wataya? Only the cards know the future as Chihaya and Crew hit the decks in CHIHAYAFURU 3!
The final release, ‘Phantom of the Idol,’ will be released on Halloween night.
Apple’s reliance on outdated technology regarding the iPhone has long been an issue for the less sycophantic fans of the company’s devices. Usually, the nagging goes unheard. However, Google and Android leverage Apple’s missteps to poke fun at the company with a parody commercial for the “technologically advanced” iPager.
Sure, it’s petty, but it brings to light many problems Apple has refused to address for over a decade. The caveman-levels of tech, mainly the reliance on SMS for texting with devices outside of the iDevice ecosphere.
Unsurprisingly, Android and Google didn’t take a swipe at Apple’s resistance to the various Right To Repair issues, but that’s an entirely different issue altogether.
It’s no secret that Apple has focused more on the appearance of innovation than putting it into practice. Where the original iPhone changed the mobile communications landscape in the early days, it has since fallen behind the strides made by others in the space.
It’s always entertaining to see Apple announce a “new” feature, treat it as an industry first, and then quickly see that it has been the standard on other phones for years. Steve Jobs’s company is very good at marketing, I’ll give them that. However, since Tim Cook took over, the wow factor of owning a new iPhone yearly has severely dwindled.
After the company’s laughable Mother Nature video debuted recently, I feel that Apple will try to disguise its lack of effort on the need to be carbon neutral or whatever the latest buzzword for lazy is. Maybe improve the terrible music library management system built into the phone and iTunes instead? Or quit relying on many proprietary systems when the competition is more open and user-friendly?
Had the company I worked for in 2008 not gotten all employees iPhones, I’m unsure if I would have ever willingly used one. I’m not an Apple guy, especially after the only Macbook Pro I owned had a display issue 14 months in, and Apple said I needed to pay $1,000 to repair it due to design flaws.
When was the last time you purchased an iPhone? What should Apple add to its stale mobile phone brand to make it relevant again? Let us know below!
There’s a charm to action movies that appeal to a primal desire to see things go crazy. Whether that’s from explosions, wild fist fights, or shootouts among two groups of people. When you think of action movies, chances are at least two of those things are going down. But when you gather a crew of past and present action stars into one movie, you expect all of it to happen in fantastic fashion. This is why The Expendables series worked out well for those who have an affinity for the genre. But while the first few films hit all the right notes to have a great plan come together, The Expendables 4(also known as Expend4bles) unfortunately falls significantly short. To the point that not even die-hard fans of the series can defend how rough it can get watching it.
The movie begins with Barney and Lee getting a team together to stop a mercenary named Rahmat from stealing nuclear warheads in Libya. Things appear to go right until the army they face manages to be more than a match for The Expendables. The mission ends when the team is hit with a devastating blow and Rahmat manages to steal the warheads. In order to retaliate and get back the stolen warheads, the CIA sends the Expendables back out under new leadership for a new mission connected to Barney’s past work. All is not as it seems as the team faces down a mercenary army undergoing a dangerous mission that will take them to Asia and near Russian territory.
At first glance, The Expendables 4 appears to make some bold moves early on with certain characters. However, the movie never truly commits to it and instead plays it off as a clever misdirect. It simply does not work and feels like a deus ex machina by the time the climax rolls in. The explanation given by the end of the film feels very lackluster and borders on being absurd. Not just for logical reasons, but by even the rules set by previous Expendable films.
Most of the movie is focused on Jason Statham as Lee Christmas, who is Barney’s friend and partner. Although Barney is around, he disappears for most of the movie, so a lot of the movie’s weight is dependent on Statham as things go south for everyone. Although it is always great to see him in action at any time, he gets some really good fight scenes and shootouts, he’s only part of the formula as to why the previous Expendables movies worked. It becomes less of an Expendables movie and more of a generic Jason Statham movie because of that.
But is Statham complimented by a great cast of action stars in their own right? Not really, at least not as much as some of the heavyweight action icons that were involved before. Instead of having Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jet Li, or even Harison Ford; we get stars who are more relevant today but don’t have as much presence. Instead, we get Jacob Scipio, 50 Cent (Curtis Jackson), Tony Jaa, and Megan Fox playing various roles in the story.
Each of them is great in their own right in other films, but in The Expendables 4,they all feel like placeholders or replacements for previous stars with far better resonance in the genre. Seeing Megan Fox and Levy Tran on the team adds some diversity to the group with more women in the mix, but they don’t add too much to what the movie is lacking. They are both stars, but nowhere near the level in action movies as some of their predecessors. It maybe would’ve been a far better choice to seek out other big female action stars (like Sigourney Weaver, Linda Hamilton, or Charlize Theron) that have a greater presence in the genre to really continue with the thematic elements of the series.
The overall story of the film feels is basic and what you would expect in a big-budget action movie, but again it lacks the charm of having major action icons being involved with it. Both Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture reprise their roles as Gunner and Toll, but are not utilized as interestingly as they were in previous Expendables films. They’re around for a few fights and goofy moments that might get a laugh for some but will fall flat for everyone else. This is also a big issue with the humor of the film, which tries very hard to be funny a bit too often. One scene involves Jacob Scipio’s character Galan going into detail about his sexual exploits (a golden shower is mentioned) which overstays its time very quickly and is just not funny.
It’s awkward and very out of place for both the characters on screen and the audience. At the same time, moments throughout the later acts that are funny get undercut but follow-ups that are either lame or awkward as well. Luckily there are some fights that happen afterward to keep things moving and get things back on track, but it happens more often than one would like.
But is the action in The Expendables 4 good enough to live up to the rest of the series? There are some brutal fights and cool shootouts that are definitely fun to watch. However, some of them involve laughable-looking special effects that don’t look finished. A truly hard-edged scene with the team in combat might lose some of its momentum by a vehicle that really looks out of place because of the CGI effects on it. This happens a lot with some of the shots involving aerial vehicles and trucks, as well as many giant explosions. By the end of the movie, things are already so wacky with the plot that the look of the explosions won’t matter too much.
The Expendables 4 is not a great movie, even if it has a few moments that fans of the series might enjoy watching. The series at this point seems to have lost its way or gotten tired. Whether due in part to decisions made behind the scenes or poor planning, The Expendables 4 just doesn’t have the same vibe and excitement that previous films did. The star power in this sequel doesn’t seem like enough to overlook many of the issues that pop up. Each one of the stars that make up this team might be good outside of it, but here everyone falls together as a team. They just couldn’t get the job done right.

Are you willing to let Elon Musk put things in you? No, not in a fun way. I mean, would you be willing to be part of his human trials for the Neuralink brain implant?
In a story we saw on PC Mag, we learned that the $260B Tesla CEO needs people to get behind his startup company in a very serious way. The implant’s intended purpose is to help patients who’ve lost the use of their limbs operate computers. It’s no miracle device, but it is undoubtedly a step in a positive direction … hopefully.
Nueralink is currently recruiting for clinical trials, but the eligibility criteria are pretty strict. Not just anyone can sign up.
Nueralink is looking for people who meet the following prerequisites:
Have quadriplegia (limited function in all 4 limbs) due to spinal cord injury or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and are at least 1-year post-injury (without improvement)
Are at least 22 years old
Have a consistent and reliable caregiver
As of right now, Nueralink is not accepting applicants who fit into the following checkboxes:
Have an active implanted device (pacemaker, deep brain stimulator (DBS), etc.)
Have a history of seizures
Require MRIs for an ongoing medical condition
Are receiving transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) treatment
The study is expected to run for six years. Volunteers will be expected to attend two one-hour research sessions per week.
Even after the study concludes, there is a five-year follow-up period that encompasses twenty visits, but it is not clear if these are in-person or at home.
While it is easy to be snarkywhen it comes to Elon Musk, I truly hope that this venture helps those who’ve lost the use of their limbs. However, I can already see the various news media outlets drawing up stories about how this tech is ableist or something.
What do you think of Nueralink? Let us know in the comments section below.

The Vulcan is packing one of the best-looking Starfleet uniforms we’ve seen so far from EXO-6, along with an alternate outfit:
Starfleet “Monster Maroon” Duty Uniform: Meticulously researched, this duty uniform with a removable tunic matches the pattern and color of the original costume recreated in 1:6 scale. Diecast pieces make up various accents on the uniform, including the main chest badge.
Starfleet Field Jacket: The most complex and detailed piece of Star Trek costuming ever created, this field jacket was worn by Saavik and other crew members when they beamed off the Enterprise to investigate the disappearance of the Genesis device. It features opening pockets, diecast parts and a working zipper.
Boots: Soft plastic boots sculpted to match the cut and style of the original movie footwear.
Display Base: A sculpted hexagonal display base representing the Enterprise refit transporter was specifically created for The Wrath of Khan characters.
Saavik comes with the following accessories:
Heavy Duty Treicorder: Only seen in The Wrath of Khan this version of the tricorder is a large scanner used by Saavik on Regula One. A strap allows her to hang it from her shoulder.
Phaser: Hand phaser can be carried in the side pocket of the field jacket.
Communicator: A new style of communicator with flip top antenna grid, only seen in Wrath of Khan.
Multiple hands: Including the Live Long and Prosper gesture, and hands shaped to hold her accessories.
