Prime Videos Releases ‘Paper Girls’ First Look Images

0

Amazon Studios released some “first look” images for their upcoming sci-fi adventure series ‘Paper Girls.’ The show’s production is handled by Amazon Studios, Legendary Television, and Plan B with Christopher C. Rogers working on the series as showrunner and executive producer.
They also published the images on their official social media account:

Rogers said in a statement, “As fans of the comic already know, this story seamlessly interweaves deeply personal character drama with the kind of high adventure and action that is truly rare on the small screen.”
“That said, this show is for everyone (even those who’ve never picked up a comic book!) who has ever wondered what it would be like to meet themselves at a different stage of life — to compare what you know now with what you thought you knew then… It’s been a genuine thrill to get to play in Brian and Cliff’s world, and I’m humbled to have worked alongside this incredibly special group of artists and collaborators to bring it to life,” he added.
Amazon Studios describes the synopsis as follows,
“In the early morning hours after Halloween 1988, four paper girls—Erin, Mac, Tiffany, and KJ—are out on their delivery route when they become caught in the crossfire between warring time-travelers, changing the course of their lives forever. Transported into the future, these girls must figure out a way to get back home to the past, a journey that will bring them face-to-face with the grown-up versions of themselves. While reconciling that their futures are far different than their 12-year-old selves imagined, they are being hunted by a militant faction of time-travelers known as the Old Watch, who have outlawed time travel so that they can stay in power. In order to survive, the girls will need to overcome their differences and learn to trust each other, and themselves.”
‘Paper Girls’ is based on a comic book series by Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang. The first season has a total of eight episodes.

MCU Star Chris Hemwsworth Slams The Hammer On ‘Thor: Dark World’

It is no secret that ‘Thor: Dark World’ had a tepid response from critics and audiences when it premiered. While the interaction between Thor and his half-brother Loki was praised by fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the movie was criticized for various plotholes and some editing mistakes when it reached theaters.
Thor actor Chris Hemsworth himself does not seem to look back on the film with fond memories, according to a Digital Spy article. “I wasn’t stoked with what I’d done in Thor 2,” he said in an interview.
“I was a little disappointed in what I’d done, I didn’t think I grew the character in any way,” Hemsworth told Vanity Fair. “I didn’t think I’d shown an audience something unexpected and different.”
The 2013 sequel to 2011 ‘Thor’ was the eighth film in the MCU. Despite the poor reception, it made over $600 million against a $170 million budget. It also starred Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and ‘Dr. Who’ actor Christopher Eccleston as the villain Malekith.
The ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ star may not have looked back on the second Thor outing, but it was not the same with the third movie ‘Thor: Ragnarok.’
“And when Ragnarok came along, out of my own frustration over what I’d done – and this is not on any other director or anyone, this was my own performance – I really wanted to break the mold,” he said. “And I said this to [director] Taika [Waititi]. I think the conversation we had was, I said, ‘I’m really bored of Thor’. And he said, ‘Yeah, I’m really bored of Thor too’,” Hemsworth went on to recall. “And then we decided not to be bored. And any time that feeling came into play, we’d go in a different direction.”
Chris Hemsworth is set to reprise the role in the upcoming film ‘Thor: Love and Thunder.’

‘American Rust’ Moves From Showtime To Freevee

0

‘American Rust’ is a crime drama based on a novel by Philipp Meyer. The show was created by Dan Futterman and ran for one season on Showtime for nine episodes before it was canceled. Fortunately, fans of the show will see it get new life as it was announced that it would be picked by the Amazon streaming service Freevee.
“Amazon Freevee (formerly IMDb TV) announced it will pick up a second season of American Rust, starring Jeff Daniels and Maura Tierney. Produced by Boat Rocker and executive produced by Daniels, Dan Futterman, and Adam Rapp, the second season of the compelling crime drama set in a Pennsylvania Rust Belt town will stream exclusively on Freevee,” they said in a press release.
“Based on Philipp Meyer’s critically acclaimed novel of the same name, the first season of American Rust explored the tattered American Dream in a Rust Belt town in southwest Pennsylvania through the eyes of police chief Del Harris (Daniels). Harris becomes compromised when the son of the woman he loves (Tierney) is accused of murder, and he is forced to decide what he’s willing to do to protect him. Production on the second season is scheduled to begin later this year with Daniels and Tierney returning,” they continued.
Co-executive producer and star Jeff Daniels expressed his excitement about the renewal in a statement.
“I’m grateful to Amazon Freevee for giving us the chance to make Season Two of American Rust. Set inside a struggling American small town, our authentic, realistically told story is built for streaming. The movies they don’t make anymore are being made as series at places like Amazon Freevee. It’s where I want to be,” he said.
Wikipedia describes the premise, “Set in a small Rust Belt town in Pennsylvania, chief of police Del Harris takes on an investigation when the son of the woman he loves is accused of murder.”

‘Doomsday With My Dog’ Anime Coming To HiDive

0

‘Doomsday With My Dog’ started out as a short webcomic that was posted to social media by creator Yū Isihara. Soon, it was picked up by Kadokawa Shoten and released as a manga starting in March 2018. It was picked up by the Japanese animation studio DLE for an original net anime (ONA) adaption directed by Sorosoro Tanigawa that is planned for later in 2022. Sentai Filmworks announced that they are bringing the show to North America and will stream it to HiDive.
They said on their website that, “it acquired exclusive rights to Doomsday with My Dog (Sekai no Owari ni Shiba Inu to), an animated web-comic that brings to life Yu Ishihara’s hilarious 4-koma manga series serialized by ComicWalker. Sentai will stream the animated comic shorts on its direct-to-consumer streaming service, HIDIVE, in Summer 2022.”
“The animated comic, which lends spirited voice-work to the always arresting manga panels fans know and love, is directed by Aoi Shimoyama (GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka) with general supervision by Sorosoro Tanigawa (Taeko no Nichijou). The series stars Mutsumi Tamura (Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid) as Haru, the talking shiba inu, and Maaya Uchida (Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions!) as Haru’s master, the last survivor of the human race,” they added.
They shared their excitement on social media:

Sentai described the synopsis as follows,
“The sole surviving human and her canine companion, Haru, wander a desolate wasteland after the destruction of civilization, but this is no dark doomsday tale. Haru, a wise-beyond-his-years talking shiba inu, makes sure his master stays one step ahead of post-apocalyptic pessimism with his clever antics, hilarious observations and philosophical ponderings. She may be the last girl on earth, but with Haru at her side, the road through the apocalypse will never be boring!”
The series is known in Japan as ‘Sekai no Owari ni Shiba Inu to’ which roughly translates to ‘Roaming the Apocalypse With My Shiba Inu.’
