Mattel Reveals The 3,802 Piece Snake Mountain Mega Block Set

Mattel has officially started taking pre-orders for the Mega Blocks Snake Mountain playset. Made out of over 3,800 pieces, the set recreates the former home of the Snake Men on the planet Eternia. Now used by the evil forces of Skeletor, Snake Mountain is one your stop shop for villainous happenings.
The lavafall is recreated with translucent blocks. When the playset is opened, it measures 24″ wide, which may be wider than the original ’80s toy. Sadly, the Mega Blocks version does not come with the voice-changing microphone. The set is comparable in price to the previously-released Castle Grayskull kit. Snake Mountain is $321.00 and can be purchased directly through Mattel Creations. Skeletor’s lair is expected to ship on or before August 31st.

Skeletor’s stronghold is back in a brand-new form. The MEGA MOTU Snake Mountain is now yours to build. Authenticity was key in recreating a buildable version of the infamous hideout of Eternia’s Most Wanted. Our designers captured every awesome aesthetic and even added a few MOTU easter eggs. Piece together every devious threat of Snake Mountain, from the demon head and lavafall to the prisoner shackles and notorious Bone Throne. That muscle-bound oaf, He-Man, won’t know what hit him! Snake Mountain wouldn’t be the evil fortress it is without Skeletor and his henchmen. Recreate classic MOTU battles with six highly detailed, super posable figures complete with display stands and swappable weapons.

Aside from recreating the classic Masters of the Universe playset, the Mega Blocks version comes with the following figures:

  • Thunder Punch He-Man
  • Dragon Blaster Skeletor
  • Evil-Lyn
  • Trap Jaw
  • Webstor
  • Ram Man

Mega Block MotU figures can still be found at Target and Walmart. Castle Grayskull is another matter. Expect to pay a premium for that set now, sometimes closer to $400-$500.

The upcoming sci-fi series ‘Paper Girls’ received a full trailer from Amazon Studios, which plans to release the show on their Prime Video streaming service. Based on a comic book series by Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang, the first season will feature eight episodes. Christopher C. Rogers is working on the series as showrunner.
As D-Rezzed previously reported, the show stars Camryn Jones (“Tiffany Quilkin”), Riley Lai Nelet (“Erin Tieng”), Sofia Rosinsky (“Mac Coyle”), and Fina Strazza (“KJ Brandman”). Ali Wong also stars as the grown-up version of “Erin,” with Nate Corddry as “Larry” and Adina Porter as “Prioress.”

“As fans of the comic already know, this story seamlessly interweaves deeply personal character drama with the kind of high adventure and action that is truly rare on the small screen,” Rogers said in a previous statement.
Amazon Studios describes the synopsis as follows,
“In the early morning hours after Halloween 1988, four paper girls—Erin, Mac, Tiffany, and KJ—are out on their delivery route when they become caught in the crossfire between warring time-travelers, changing the course of their lives forever. Transported into the future, these girls must figure out a way to get back home to the past, a journey that will bring them face-to-face with the grown-up versions of themselves. While reconciling that their futures are far different than their 12-year-old selves imagined, they are being hunted by a militant faction of time-travelers known as the Old Watch, who have outlawed time travel so that they can stay in power. In order to survive, the girls will need to overcome their differences and learn to trust each other, and themselves.”
The show is developed by Amazon Studios, Legendary Television, and Plan B. Rogers, Stephany Folsom, Christopher Cantwell, Brian K. Vaughan, Cliff Chiang, and Steven Prinz are executive producers of the show.

‘Yu’Gi-Oh’ Creator Takahashi Kazuki Passes Away

Anime and manga fans everywhere got some very distressing news when it was announced that ‘Yu-Gi-Oh’ creator Takahashi Kazuki had passed away.
NBC News reports that the writer and illustrator was found off the coast of Okinawa Island, Japan about 1,000 feet offshore on Wednesday wearing snorkeling gear, Japanese officials reported. He was 60 years old.
“Local police had also discovered an abandoned rental car at a nearby beach. Once they determined Kazuki had rented the vehicle, they contacted his family to confirm the body was him. He was identified Thursday,” NBC said. “Kazuki was wearing snorkeling equipment when he was found, according to the Coast Guard. He was traveling alone.”
To honor their founder, his creative agency, Studio Dice, turned their web page black. Fans began trending #RIPLegend to celebrate the mangaka.

‘Yu-Gi-Oh’ was a manga that ran from September 1996 and March 2004 that was published in the Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine published by the Tokyo-based Shueisha. Toei Animation created the first anime adaption that ran for twenty-seven episodes in 1998.
A second adaption ‘Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters’ was launched in 2000 – 2004 by Studio Gallop. It produced a film and several television spin-offs. Besides the media, the series produced a highly popular trading card game and several video games.
You can watch the trailer for the movie below:

Wikipedia describes the synopsis as follows,
“Yu-Gi-Oh! tells the tale of Yugi Mutou, a timid young boy who loves all sorts of games, but is often bullied around. One day, he solves an ancient puzzle known as the Millennium Puzzle (千年パズル, Sennen Pazuru), causing his body to play host to a mysterious spirit with the personality of a gambler. From that moment onwards, whenever Yugi or one of his friends is threatened by those with darkness in their hearts, this other Yugi shows himself and challenges them to dangerous Shadow Games (闇のゲーム, Yami no Gēmu, lit. “Games of Darkness”) which reveal the true nature of someone’s heart, the losers of these contests often being subjected to a dark punishment called a Penalty Game (罰ゲーム, Batsu Gēmu). Whether it be cards, dice, or role-playing board games, he will take on challenges from anyone, anywhere.”

The PX Previews Classic Comic TMNT Figures Look … Interesting

The Ninja Turtles from the early Mirage Comics days are once again returning to toy form thanks to The Loyal Subjects, PX Previews, and the Big Bad Toy Store.
The 5″ tall figures come in two 4-figure box sets featuring art by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman. The packs include two Ninja Turtles and two villains. One set comprises Donatello, Raphael, Shredder, and a Foot Elite. Another contains Leonardo, Michelangelo, and two Foot ninjas. Each box set is priced at $74.99, limited to 8k pieces, and will ship out around October.
Although these guys are being touted as turtles from the classic Mirage Comics, they look more like turtles from the ’87 cartoon. They even have letters on their belts. I checked The Loyal Subjects’ website to see if these Turtles were re-released but couldn’t find anything. Then I remembered seeing the BST ANX figures at Walmart recently. Also, check out images of these Turtles at Toy Wizards. So, these are re-packaged and re-colored versions of the animated Turtle figures.

HiDive To Stream Anime Rom-Com ‘When Will Ayumu Make His Move?’

Manga writer and artist Sōichirō Yamamoto released the slice-of-life romantic comedy webcomic ‘When Will Ayumu Make His Move?’ in 2018. The Japanese publishing company Kodansha began releasing a manga version in 2019. Its popularity led to the Tokyo-based animation studio Silver Link picking up the series as an anime that has a planned July 2022 release.
HiDive announced in a statement that they would be streaming the series on Fridays on their app.
“Odds are, you know or have known two people in your social circle who are really into each other and it’s only a matter of time before they get together. The real question (and the bets you’ve all made) is when. So when will Ayumu and Urushi finally start dating? Join us every Friday,” they said on their website.
The show is being written by Deko Akao with Mirai Minato serving as the director. The anime stars Yōhei Azakami as protagonist Ayumu Tanaka with Kanna Nakamura portraying the shogi senpai Urushi Yaotome. It also stars Tsubasa Gouden, Hina Yomiya, Haruna Mikawa, and Kana Hanazawa.
You can watch the trailer below:

Wikipedia describes the synopsis as follows,
“Ayumu Tanaka, a first-year high school student, and Urushi Yaotome, a second-year student, are members of the shogi club. Ayumu vows to confess his feelings to Urushi, his senpai, after he manages to defeat her in a game of shogi, but he is a beginner at the game and Urushi always beats him. Meanwhile, Urushi keeps trying to get Ayumu to admit that he likes her, but Ayumu never allows his poker face to slip.”
As D-Rezzed previously reported, Sentai Filmworks announced that they had acquired the license to bring the anime to North America.
The webcomic was originally titled ‘Shōgi no Yatsu’ aka ‘Shogi Guy’ before it received its more popular title that fans know.

What we do know is that the 30″ tall statues will ship sometime between March and May 2023.

Each Deluxe Edition statue will come with the following:

  • Fully Sculpted Statue
  • Highly Detailed Capsule Base
  • Swap-Out Closed-Eyes Portrait

Mega Man X first launched on the Super NES in the US in 1994. While the game retained several elements from the earlier NES Mega Man titles, it introduced several new gameplay mechanics. Wall jumping and dashing, which now are more common in the series, made their debut in this title. It also had a banging soundtrack, bro. Listen to the Spark Mandrill track and tell me that isn’t badass.
Mega Man X was followed by seven sequels, the first of which launched a year after the first title’s release. The final sequel, Mega Man X8, was released on the Playstation 2 and PC in 2004/2005 (Japan/US). Need a recap of the first Mega Man X game? Check out Terminal Montage’s animations below:

Russo Bros Tap Millie Bobby Brown To Star In ‘The Electric State’

‘Avengers: Infinity War’ directors Joe and Anthony Russo have tapped ‘Enola Holmes’ star Millie Bobby Brown to star in their upcoming Netflix film ‘The Electric State,’ based on an illustrated novel by Simon Stålenhag. Coming off the final season of ‘Strangers Things,’ Brown is set to play the book’s heroine, who explores the American West with her trusty robot, Deadline reports. ‘The Terminal List’ actor Chris Pratt is in talks to co-star.
“Netflix has picked up AGBO’s ‘The Electric State,’ an adaptation of the illustrated novel by Simon Stålenhag,” the streaming service said in their newsroom. “The Electric State continues the Russo Brothers and AGBO’s successful partnership with Netflix following the 2020 release of Chris Hemsworth (film) ‘Extraction’ and recently completed principal photography on Extraction 2, as well as the highly anticipated ‘The Gray Man’ starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans and Ana de Armas.”
The logline describes the film as being set “in a retro-futuristic past, an orphaned teenager (Millie Bobby Brown) traverses the American West with a sweet but mysterious robot and an eccentric drifter in search of her younger brother.”

GoodReads describes the novel, “In 1997, a runaway teenager and her yellow toy robot travel west through a strange USA. The ruins of gigantic battle drones litter the countryside, heaped together with the discarded trash of a high tech consumerist society in decline. As their car approaches the edge of the continent, the world outside the window seems to be unraveling ever faster—as if somewhere beyond the horizon, the hollow core of civilization has finally caved in.”
Angela Russo-Otstot, Jake Aust, Geoff Haley, Christopher Markus, and Stephen McFeely are executive producing the film along with the Russo brothers. Markus and McFeely wrote the script.
Simon Stålenhag previously released ‘The Labrynth,’ ‘Things From The Flood,’ and served as the illustrator for ‘Tales from the Loop: Roleplaying in the ’80s That Never Was.’

‘Ten Year Old Tom’ Gets Renewed By HBO Max

Warner Media announced that the adult animated sitcom ‘Ten Year Old Tom’ is getting a second season. The streaming service made the announcement at this year’s Rooster Teeth’s RTX festival in Austin, Texas. The show is created, produced, directed, and written by Steve Dildarian who also voices the character of Tom. The first season had ten episodes.
The show stars Dildarian, Byron Bowers, Todd Glass, Gillian Jacobs, John Malkovich, and Edi Patterson. David Duchovny, Jennifer Coolidge, Natasha Lynonne, Mark Proksch, Tim Robinson, and several others will also serve as guest stars.
HBO Max Senior VP of Comedy & Animation Billy Wee said in a statement, “Steve Dildarian has always had a unique and charming way of depicting the pain and hilarity of everyday life. We love the sincerity and bewilderment of Tom as he navigates the misguided adults around him daily and we are looking forward to more life lessons and mishaps in season two.”
You can watch the trailer below:

HBO Max announced the synopsis as follows,
“TEN YEAR OLD TOM follows the misadventures of an average kid as he contends with questionable guidance from the well-meaning grownups around him. Being a kid is hard enough for Tom, but when bad influences seem to lurk around every corner – from litigious parents and drug dealing bus drivers to school administrators who want to sleep with his mom – it’s downright impossible. While the adults in Tom’s life certainly mean well, they just can’t manage to lead by example.”
Steve Dildarian also serves as an executive producer along with Marty Adelstein, Nick Weidenfeld, and Becky Clements. The production is also handled by Tomorrow Studios, Work Friends, and Insane Loon Productions with ITV Studios handling international distribution. ShadowMachine, an animation studio that worked on such TV shows like ‘BoJack Horseman’ and ‘Robot Chicken,’ handled the animation.

Marvel’s Bishop and Power Rangers Headline New Diamond Select Releases

If you haven’t blown all your money on fireworks this 4th of July, maybe consider setting some aside. Why? Because X-MEN and Power Ranger collectibles are about to hit shops on July 6th!
Over at Previews World, we saw that X-MEN’s Bishop and some of the original Power Rangers [the Mighty Morphin kind] are almost here. It’s a weird mashup of franchises to launch on the same day, but considering Bishop doesn’t shop up that often in Marvel’s merchandise lines, I’ll take it. The X-MAN from a dystopian future will arrive in our time in the form of a 12″ tall statue limited to 3,000 pieces. He’ll only set you back $250 unless your comic book shop is one of those who puts an extra 25-50% markup on things. Oh, you know the types of stores I’m talking about.

Diamond Select

From a grim and distant future comes the X-Man out of time – Bishop! Formerly of Xavier’s Security Enforcers, Bishop is now the latest statue in the Marvel Premier Collection. Wielding a blaster and gathering up a charge in his other hand, the energy-absorbing mutant stands approximately 12 inches tall. Designed by Joe Allard, sculpted by Alejandro Pereira Ezcurra!

Yes, MiniMates are still around! I don’t know why I’m still surprised each time they pop up, though. Once these things littered the toy aisles of Target, now they pop up on one peg in the “collectors” section behind the electronics department. So who exactly are these things aimed at, and do they sell? Are they collectibles? MiniMates have always confused me.
If you’re a fan of the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers and MiniMates, Diamond Select has a brand new 4-pack for you. Included are the original Pink, Blue, and Green Rangers along with the manic robot Alpha 5. The pack is priced at $29.99.

Diamond Select
The final item DS will release on the 6th is a 10″ bust of the Mighty Morphin’ Red Ranger. This bust is $175 and is very limited, with only 1,000 pieces being made.

It’s Morphin’ Time! DST kicks off their Power Rangers product line with an all-new Legends in 3D bust, of the Red Ranger from Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers! This scale, approximately 10-inch bust features detailed sculpting and paint applications, and sits atop a detailed pedestal base.
