0

‘Lycoris Recoil’ is an action anime produced by A-1 Pictures and directed by Shingo Adachi. It made its premiere in July 2022 and was streamed in the United States by the Crunchyroll streaming service. It was announced that Aniplex would be producing an English dubbed version.

Crunchyroll revealed the English cast on their website:

  • Lizzie Freeman (Hotaru Hiraiwa in Akebi’s Sailor Uniform) as Chisato Nishikigi
  • Xanthe Huynh (Haru Okumura in PERSONA5 the Animation) as Takina Inoue
  • Jennifer Losi (Naomi Randall in Scarlet Nexus) as Mizuki Nakahara
  • Lisa Reimold (Kinako in Tokyo 24th Ward) as Kurumi
  • Bob Carter (Bojack in Dragon Ball Z: Bojack Unbound) as Mika
  • Kayleigh McKee (Bat in The Detective is Already Dead) as Kusunoki

The streaming service also stated that the dub will be released in late August 2022.

You can watch the trailer below:

MyAnimeList described the synopsis as follows,

“The number of terrorist acts in Japan has never been lower, thanks to the efforts of a syndicate called Direct Attack (DA). The organization raises orphaned girls as killers to carry out assassinations under their “Lycoris” program. Takina Inoue is an exceptional Lycoris with a strong sense of purpose and a penchant for perfection. Unfortunately, a hostage situation tests her patience, and the resulting act of insubordination leads to her transfer out of DA. Not thrilled about losing the only place she belonged to, she reluctantly arrives at her new base of operations—LycoReco, a cafe in disguise.

Takina’s new partner, however, turns out to be quite different from what she imagined. Despite being the famed Lycoris prodigy, Chisato Nishikigi appears almost unconcerned with her duties. She drags Takina along on all kinds of odd jobs under the simple explanation of helping people in need. Takina is even more puzzled when Chisato takes down a group of armed assailants without killing any of them. Feeling like a fish out of water, Takina itches to get reinstated into DA—but Chisato is determined to prove to her that there is more to a life than just taking them.”

The music for the series is composed by Shūhei Mutsuki.

‘Pennyworth’ Season Three Gets A Trailer

0

‘Pennyworth,’ the TV origin for Bruce Wayne’s faith butler and father figure, is returning for a new season. While the first two seasons aired on the EPIX cable channel, this third season will be streaming HBO Max with the subtitle ‘The Origin of Batman’s Butler’ starting in October 2022.

The show is developed by Bruno Heller and stars Jack Bannon, Ben Aldridge, Emma Paetz, Paloma Faith, Ryan Fletcher, Dorothy Atkinson, Ramon Tikaram, Harriet Slater, and Simon Manyonda.

You can watch the trailer below:

HBO Max describes the synopsis as follows,

“The DC origin series PENNYWORTH: THE ORIGIN OF BATMAN’S BUTLER follows Alfred Pennyworth (Jack Bannon), a former British SAS soldier, who forms a security company in 1960s London and goes to work with young billionaire Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge) and his wife Martha (Emma Paetz), before they become Bruce Wayne’s parents. Season three of the psychological thriller begins after a five-year time jump: the civil war is over, and a cultural revolution has changed the world for better or worse – ushering in a new age of Super Heroes and Supervillains.”

Bannon described the previous season in an interview with TV Line, saying, “Season 2 takes place one year on from Season 1, and civil war has fully kicked off. The Raven Society (led by Lord Harwood) is even more powerful — they’ve got the backing of the army now and are fully militarized. The No Names, meanwhile, are just kind of clinging on, really.”

“The Raven Society has taken over most of England — London is a neutral zone, Soho specifically, where Alfred has a new nightclub. But really, Alfred is trying to come to terms with killing his father (Ian Puleston-Davies), and trying to get enough money together to get him, his mom (Dorothy Atkinson), Bazza (Hainsley Lloyd Bennett) and “Daveboy” (Ryan Fletcher) off to America to start fresh, because England is not in a good way,” he continued.

The show is a “spiritual” predecessor to ‘Gotham,’ another Batman prequel series that saw Sean Pertwee as the iconic butler. This show was also executive produced by Bruno Heller.

Only The Plumpest Kirby Will Win ‘Kirby’s Dream Buffet’

0

Kirby’s Dream Buffet will roll out next week on August 17th. So naturally, the cheeky pink ball needs to eat as much food as possible to be the biggest and best Kirby. Yes, that’s the point of the game: gluttony!

Luckily there are multiple game modes to help Kirby sin his way to the top. These were revealed today via an overview trailer on Nintendo’s YouTube Channel. It may sound simple enough to eat the most food to win, but as expected, with a Kirby game, there are powerups to help you along the way.

Palatable powers can be obtained by eating certain foods. For example, Kirby’s circumference will help you bump off other players, and the “Copy Food Ability” allows you to slam, dig underground, or fire through other players.

There are four game types to compete in. These include:

  • Gourmet Grand Prix: “Race across mouth-watering obstacle courses collecting strawberries to plump up Kirby. Play a minigame in the bonus stage between races. Then turn the tides in the battle round – a final fruity fight atop a floating platform.
  • Race: “Roll through food-themed courses collecting strawberries and Copy Foods as you race to the finish. Earn extra strawberries at cake goals at the end of the race.
  • Minigame: “Play a delectable minigame between races! Compete with other players to collect as many strawberries as possible within the time limit.
  • Battle Royale: “In the final confrontation, knock opponents off the stage to steal their strawberries. Use your Copy Food Abilities as you battle it out to see which Kirby has grown largest.

Of course, a competitive game like this wouldn’t be complete without customization. Kirby can be dressed in different costumes and colors to make him stand out next to the other rolly pollies.

Here’s a breakdown of the co-op and multiplayer modes:

  • Local two-player co-op on (1) Switch.
  • Local wireless four-player mode with (4) Switches.
  • Four players from anywhere around the globe can compete online.

Sheriff Who Raided Batmobile Shop Now Under Investigation

0

We’re following up on our previous story involving Indiana’s Fiberglass Freaks and the suspicious raid by an out-of-state law enforcement agency. When I spoke with Mark Racop, the man who runs the shop building official 1966 Batmobile replaces, he was getting ready to travel to California for his August 19th arraignment. Since that call, the arraignment has been canceled, and the criminal case against him is in limbo.

It also turns out that San Mateo County’s Sheriff may soon be under investigation. The supervisors of San Mateo County have asked the California attorney general to look into the raid and Sheriff Carlos Bolanos . Meanwhile, Racop’s bank account is still frozen, which is putting a damper on the production of other Batmobiles in the line.

The man who started the complaint, wealthy real estate agent Sam Anagnostou, was scheduled to speak with ABC7 but decided not to. Apparently, Anagnostou is OK with turning a civil case into a criminal complaint but won’t back up his stance in front of ABC7’s cameras. Anagnostou’s attorney said that they could not comment due to the ongoing investigation.

Considering the felony complaint is public record, the least Anagnostou could elaborate how anything Racop did would be regarded as an act of “obtaining money by false pretenses” or “diversion of construction funds.”

Residents of San Mateo are not happy that tax money was spent on a questionable out-of-state raid. In total, the travel expenses alone came to $10,142.76. This amount does not include any per diem or overhead and administrative costs from work performed within California.

San Mateo County Sheriff Carlos Bolanos has been missing in action throughout this entire story. At first, he was on a month-long vacation and now says he cannot talk to the media because of the ongoing investigation against Racop. ABC7 also uncovered a trail of money between Racop’s angry customer and the sheriff’s office:

In a small shop called “Time Photo Studio,” the two friends provide a special service: using their extraordinary powers that let them enter photographs, they jump into pictures brought to them by clients in order to grant their wishes. Through the eyes of the photographer, they live through the events surrounding the picture and try to decipher how to solve their client’s request.

But every time they jump into a picture, they take a great risk. One wrong move and they could alter the future of the person who took the picture… and possibly countless other events too. So when the events they are forced to live through in these pictures start to become personal, it will take the utmost strength to push their feelings aside and focus on accomplishing the task they were paid to do.”

The show originally ran for one season of eleven episodes and one special from April 30, 2021, to July 9, 2021. A second season has been announced with a planned release for November 2022.

Chris Pratt Teases “Woke Critics” Attacking ‘The Terminal List’

0

In an Instagram post, Chris Pratt decided to have fun with “woke critics” who are attacking ‘The Terminal List’ with poor reviews, specifically on the film criticism website Rotten Tomatoes. Pratt bragged about the viewership of his Prime Video action series, despite the harsh denunciation of the show.

“Chris Pratt’s new Navy thriller ‘The Terminal List’ defies woke critics’ scathing reviews to shoot up ratings chart with 1.6
BILLION minutes of streams,” the New York Post reported.

“In another post, the ‘Everwood’ star plastered a photo of Dr. Evil from the ‘Austin Powers’ franchise and noted the number of times viewers watched his show,” they continued. “‘One point six BILLLLLLLLLION minutes,’ he scribed on the meme. Nielsen reported that at least 1.6 billion 60-second moments were actually watched.”

While critics have rated the show “rotten” with a 39% (out of a 100%) rating, the audience score is much higher with a 94% rating, showing a sharp divide between viewers and film journalists.

“As it stands, this story is overlong and ploddingly told and somehow makes revenge feel bland and boring,” opined a critic from JoBlo’s Movie Network.

The viewers who took to their keyboards to overwhelmingly praise the series highlighted what they loved about it.

“How refreshing could it be to see just a good show with a solid plot and no politics inside? Well, a lot. Loved it,” wrote one.

“This is a genre that has been missing recently and thank you Amazon for giving us something to love. Great acting, engaging story, and the right level of darkness,” another wrote.

In July, Pratt wrote on Twitter about the experience of making ‘The Terminal List.’

“Surreal watching this back – over 2 years ago I pitched (The Terminal List) to (PrimeVideo). My buddy Jared Shaw brought (author Jack Carr)’s book to me & I knew that this had to be on TV It not only gave me the opportunity to grow as an actor, but as a producer as well. Thanks for watching…”

Amazon describes the synopsis as follows,

“Based on the best-selling novel by Jack Carr, The Terminal List follows James Reece (Chris Pratt) after his entire platoon of Navy SEALs is ambushed during a high-stakes covert mission. Reece returns home to his family with conflicting memories of the event and questions about his culpability. However, as new evidence comes to light, Reece discovers dark forces working against him, endangering not only his life, but the lives of those he loves.”

The show also stars Constance Wu, Taylor Kitsch, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Riley Keough, Arlo Mertz, Jai Courtney, JD Pardo, Patrick Schwarzenegger, LaMonica Garrett, Stephen Bishop, Sean Gunn, Tyner Rushing, Jared Shaw, Christina Vidal, Nick Chinlund, Matthew Rauch, Warren Kole, and Alexis Louder.

The Japanese animation studio Doga Kobo picked it up for an anime adaption that ran for one season of twelve episodes and six shorts in 2020.

Crunchyroll announced that they had picked up the show for a North American release and would be producing an English dub. They revealed the cast list on their website:

  • Michelle Rojas (Tohka in Date A Live) as Shinako Morinome
  • Dallas Reid (Asta in Black Clover) as Rou Hayakawa
  • Jerry Jewell (Kyo in Fruits Basket) as Kinoshita
  • Lee George (Appare in APPARE-RANMAN!) as Takanori Fukuda

The anime was directed by Yoshiyuki Fujiwara with Caitlin Glass working on the project as ADR Director.

You can watch the trailer below:

MyAnimeList described the synopsis as follows,

“Rikuo Uozumi has all but resigned himself to a bleak future, aimlessly working at a convenience store in Tokyo after graduating from college. His monotonous life is interrupted when the peculiar Haru Nonaka makes a lively appearance, frequently dropping by his workplace to befriend him. When Rikuo learns that an old college friend and crush, Shinako Morinome, has moved back into town, he reaches out to further their relationship. Unbeknownst to Rikuo however, Shinako is carrying painful memories from her past that were holding her back from accepting his feelings. Meanwhile, as Haru continually opens up to Rikuo, he discovers that she, much like him, is living by herself and wants to step out of her comfort zone into an uncertain future.

The past lingers long in the mind, and the future remains elusive. At a crossroads along their intertwined paths, these three experience what it means to let go of their feelings of yesterday and embrace the change that tomorrow brings.”

‘Sing “Yesterday” For Me’ was published in the magazine ‘Business Jump’ from 1997 to 2011 before ‘Grand Jump’ took over and maintained publication until 2015.

Don’t Delay. Buy Transformers: The Movie’s Wheelie Today!

Forget about Optimus Prime, Hot Rod, Galvatron, or Unicron. The real star of 1986’s Transformers: The Movie was the diminutive Autobot Wheelie.

Wheelie is part of Takara Tomy’s “Core” class figures. So, in other words, he’s small. In comparison, Wheelie is about half as tall as the ’86 versions of Kup and Hot Rod. However, this also means he’s more affordable than other recent ’86 Transformers. Entertainment Earth has Wheelie up for pre-order, with an estimated ship date of September 2022.

Studio Series has always allowed fans to reach past the big screen and build the ultimate Transformers collection inspired by iconic movie scenes from the Transformers movie universe. Now, the Studio Series line is expanding to include the epic moments and characters from the classic 1986 The Transformers: The Movie, bringing fans a whole new series of screen-inspired figures to collect! This Studio Series Core Class The Transformers: The Movie-inspired Autobot Wheelie figure stands at 3.5 inches and converts from robot to Cybertronian car mode in 12 steps. Comes with a slingshot accessory. This 3.5-inch Autobot Wheelie figure makes a great gift for kids and adults!

This is a step up compared to the original action figure released alongside the movie in the 1980s. Wheelie may not have the heat-sensitive sticker, but at least his face is painted in this version. Sadly, the paint application on this guy isn’t as good as what we saw on the non-transformable Wheelie who came with the Studio Series ’86 Grimlock. And, yes, I will admit that the 2016 Titans Return Legends Wheelie is still better than this new one.

Some say that Wheelie is the most annoying Autobot ever created, but I’m afraid I have to disagree. The dude loves to rhyme and has no problem insulting robots ten times his size! The dude is a little burn machine. Hot Rod and Kup would have probably never made it out of Quintesson’s compound if it wasn’t for him.

If, for whatever reason,  you need a toy review of Wheelie before you buy, check out PrimeVsPrime’s review below:

Chris Pratt’s Turn As Garfield Happens During The Winter of 2024

0

How does he keep getting away with it?! No, I’m not talking about whatever silly cancel campaign Twitter has against Chris Pratt. I mean Jim Davis. How does his lazy orange cat keep getting movie deals?! Were the first two live-action films not enough for everyone to realize that Garfield doesn’t belong on the silver screen? Apparently not.

According to Deadline, Sony announced today that the next Garfield film will premiere in theatres on February 16th, 2024. The animated exploits of Garfield see Chris Pratt voicing the lead role with Samuel L. Jackson playing the role of Garfield’s dad Vic. However, there is a glimmer of hope because this is being directed by Mark Dindal, who helmed Disney’s The Emperor’s New Groove and the underrated Chicken Little. The script is by Finding Nemo‘s David Reynolds.

February? You know that is usually a dumping ground for films that won’t turn a profit during any other time of the year, right?

The feature-length animated film starring the lasagna-loving feline is the work of Alcon Entertainment. The company’s landing page asks me to install Flash 9.0 or higher. So, that’s always a good sign. Alcon’s track record includes the following films: Dolphin Tale 1 & 2, Dude, Where’s My Car, Blade Runner 2049, The Book of Eli, and Beautiful Creatures. That list explains a few things.

If the movie dropped Pratt and hired a voice actor who could replicate Lorenzo Music’s voice, I’d watch that Garfield movie. Mr. Music’s voice can instantly transport anyone back to the 1980s when he could be heard in the roles of not only Garfield but also Peter Venkman and Tummi Gummi.

What do you think of Pratt as Garfield? Does he have the mellow/lazy tones that match the character? Tell us what you think about Jim Davis’s creation and the ongoing, unstoppable Garfield franchise below.
