New Transformers Ultimates: Dead Starscream & Purple Megatron

Starscream getting royally f’d up and Megatron getting reformatted are the two newest figures to make their way into Super7’s Ultimates Transformers toy line. The two new additions will be released late next year and are priced at $55 each. I’m surprised that Super7 didn’t release a throne for the fallen King Starscream. Maybe next time.

I don’t think a regular version of Megatron’s righthand usurper has been made for Ultimates yet. Strange. Maybe Transformers Ultimates are more focused on iconic parts of the franchise’s past rather than pumping out every character as we saw with ThunderCats Ultimates. If that’s the case, I can dig it. Now, make a Ultimates version of the prototype Unicron.

Starscream thought it was finally his moment to rule the Decepticons, but how wrong he was!

The fallen Decepticon leader comes with the following:

  • 3x Interchangeable heads
    • 1x Agonized crumbling head
    • 1x Smirking head
    • 1x Frowning head
  • 6x Interchangeable hands
    • 2x Fist hands
    • 2x Trigger hands
    • 1x Open hand
    • 1x Expressive hand
  • 1x Crown (removable)

Unicron has reformatted Megatron into the even more intimidating Galvatron!

Even though Megatron didn’t do much in this scene aside from floating in space, Super7 was nice enough to include multiple heads and hands:

  • 2x Interchangeable heads
    • 1x Neutral head
    • 1x Damaged head
  • 8x Interchangeable hands
    • 2x Open hands
    • 2x Trigger hands
    • 2x Fist hands
    • 2x Expressive hands

I’m not exactly thrilled that the Transformers Ultimates are starting to do re-issues/repaints already, but at least both figures are athletically significant departures from their previous figures. Instead of Starscream’s Ghost, we’ve got Starscream’s Corpse! Yeah, I know. These variations will end up in the discount bin at Entertainment Earth, just like Optimus Prime and Toxie did this year.

I advise waiting a few months after these figures release if you don’t want to drop $55 on each one.
