Elisa Maza and David Xanatos finally make their appearance in NECA’s Gargoyles action figure line. Both figures are scheduled for a July release date.
Maybe it’s just me, but Xanatos’s head sculpt looks weird. The animated version looked much more like Jonathan Frakes than his physical manifestation. The alternate grimacing face is a lot better. Maza, however, is spot-on, and the figure looks fantastic with the optional flowing hair.
Something else odd is how NECA has chosen to do the arms. The double joints at the elbow make Xanatos look like he has robotic arms. Maybe it’s time to invest in seamless limbs like other companies have.
I am grateful that NECA includes accessories for previously released characters with these two new figures. The other option was releasing an accessories pack, which I always disliked. Xanatos comes packed with optional cloaked wings for Demona, and Maza has a pair for Brooklyn.
