HiDive Picks Up Anime ‘Level 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero’

Sentai Filmworks announced that had acquired the North American distribution rights to the fantasy comedy anime ‘Level 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero’ from Japanese animation studios Silver Link and Blade. Set to be released in 2023, Sentai will stream it to HiDive.

“HIDIVE revealed its acquisition of Level 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero during its opening day industry panel at Anime Boston 2023. The fantasy comedy series will premiere later this year in Japan and will stream as an exclusive simulcast on HIDIVE,” the streaming service said on its website.

HiDive President John Ledford expressed his excitement by saying in a statement, “We’re excited to bring this humorous new anime series to HIDIVE later this year.”

“Level 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero joins our ever-expanding line-up of 2023 simulcasts alongside some of Japan’s mostly highly-anticipated new titles – and available exclusively to HIDIVE subscribers,” he added.

The anime is directed by Keisuke Inoue, written by Toshiya Ono, and features characters designed by Yoshihiro Watanabe. It stars Naomi Ōzora as the Demon Lord and Yuichi Nakamura as Max.

R.O.N. is handling the music for the series with MADKID performing the theme song “One Room Adventure.”

AniList describes the synopsis as follows,

“The Demon Lord has been defeated by a brave warrior, but is destined to arise again! Ten years later, he emerges early from his slumber to exact his revenge. However, he returns to find that neither the world nor the legendary hero are what they once were. Can the powers of darkness triumph over…a shut-in slob?”

‘Level 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero’ is based on the manga written and illustrated by the Japanese author known as toufu. It is released by the Toky-based publisher Houbunsha and serialized in their magazine ‘Comic Fuz’ since 2019. Seven Seas Entertainment releases an English version in the United States.
