GKids To Release ‘Goodbye, Don Glees’ On Home Video

‘Goodbye, Don Glees!’ is a coming-of-age drama anime film from Japanese animation studio Madhouse and Kadokawa Animation. It was written and directed by Atsuko Ishizuka. The movie had a successful theatrical run in Japan and a limited release in the United States. The animated production company GKids has announced that they are bringing the film to home video.

“The coming-of-age anime film ‘Goodbye, Don Glees!’ will arrive in a Blu-Ray + DVD combo release on December 27 and become available on major digital platforms on December 13 from GKIDS with distribution by Shout! Factory. This touching animation adventure features an interview with director Atsuko Ishizuka and is now available for pre-order at GKIDS.com ,” they said on their website.

The movie stars Japanese voice actors Ayumu Murase (Shoyo Hinata,” Haikyu!!”), Natsuki Hanae (Tanjiro Kamado, “Demon Slayer”), Kana Hanazawa (Akane Tsunemori, “Psycho-Pass”), and Yuuki Kaji (Eren Jaeger, “Attack on Titan”) for the original version of the film.

GKids produced an English dubbed cut that stars Adam McArthur (Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Nick Wolfhard (The Last Kids on Earth), Jonathan Leon (Scar on the Praeter), Victoria Grace (Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop), Barbara Goodson (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba), Stephanie Sheh (Eden of the East), Alan Lee (Neon Genesis Evangelion), and Laura Stahl (Granblue Fantasy the Animation).

AniManga Fandom describes the plot synopsis as follows,

“The film depicts the miracle-like encounter of the “DonGlees” boys. At the end of an adventure with friends that began during an unusual summer vacation, the boys arrive in Iceland—the land of flames and ice. What “treasure” have the boys found by looking at themselves and transcending the world…!”

The anime movie received a manga adaption written and illustrated by Shinki that was published in ‘Monthly Comic Gene’ from Media Factory.
