Comic Book Pros SALTY About Substack Comics Deal!

Marvel and DC comic book pros are jumping ship to Substack, and not everyone is happy about it. Specifically, the comic book creators who were left behind who think it’s “unfair” that Substack isn’t throwing money at them… or even worse, that Substack is a “platform for hate.”

Current comic book pros who’ve “taken the deal” include Jonathan Hickman, James Tynion IV, Scott Snyder, Skottie Young, Molly Ostertag, Saladin Ahmed, and Chip Zdarsky.

How long until the jealous, vicious indie comic book mafia shames or bullies their “peers” off the platform? We’ve seen it time and time and time again…

Yo! What's on your mind?

  • I wish this exodus of comic creators from Marvel and DC to Substack well. However, I won’t be subscribing to o reviewing comics by pro comic creators using the Substack platform. Why? because is a model which I feel is exploitative, it has funded blatantly offensive material in the past, and only caters for big established names. I fear up-and-coming indie comic creators will be muscled out. Also I don’t agree with a digital first strategy. I’ll stick to print comics from my local comic shop thanks.
