Amazon Studios released a first-look teaser for ‘Gen V,’ a spin-off of their dark superhero comedy ‘The Boys.’ Made in partnership with Sony, they revealed the trailer at the CCXP comic con with the announcement that Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters will serve as the executive producers.

The show will take place concurrently with the fourth season of ‘The Boys’ and will be based on the comic book story arc “We Gotta Go Now” by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.

The plot is described as, “Young adult Supes are tested in The Hunger Games-style challenges at the Godolkin University School of Crimefighting, run by Vought International.”

Amazon Studios said in a statement, “Fans attending CCXP, the largest comic convention in the world, were surprised today with a first look at the highly anticipated Amazon Original series Gen V, coming to Prime Video in 2023. The first look at The Boys spinoff highlighted already announced series cast Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Shelley Conn, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas, and Marco Pigossi. The exciting preview also revealed Clancy Brown, Alexander Calvert, and Jason Ritter, and teased guest appearances from Jessie T. Usher, Colby Minifie, and P.J. They added, “Set at America’s only college exclusively for young adult superheroes (run by Vought International), Gen V explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the school’s top ranking.”

There is no set date for the release, though it will be sometime in 2023.

‘The Boys’ is based on a comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson that was originally published by DC Comics imprint Wildstorm before moving to Dynamite Entertainment. It is developed by executive producer and showrunner Eric Kripke for Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television Studios.
