Jennifer Lawrence, who played Mystique in the last several X-Men movies, has had it with people who aren’t political according to a recent interview in Vogue.
In the cover story, The Hunger Games star opened up about her miscarriages and her misgivings with conservative family members who are on the opposite of the political spectrum. The topic of abortion can up as the actress became angry during the interview over the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.
The star claims that in 2022, you have to be political. And she doesn’t seem to have time for you if you aren’t.
“I just worked so hard in the last five years to forgive my dad and my family and try to understand: It’s different. The information they are getting is different. Their life is different.” Lawrence said. “I’ve tried to get over it and I really can’t. I can’t. I’m sorry I’m just unleashing, but I can’t fuck with people who aren’t political anymore. You live in the United States of America. You have to be political. It’s too dire. Politics are killing people.”
According to Variety, Lawrence’s rift with her Republican relatives culminated in recurring nightmares about Fox News host Tucker Carlson.
Regardless of where you fall on the political spectrum, politics have become more divisive over the past several than most Americans can ever remember. And while rifts with family members are sometimes unavoidable, the vast majority of America is seemingly tired of the polarization.
Celebrities are within their rights to talk politics when it comes to topics they feel passionately about. However, a growing number of consumers are actively avoiding entertainment and celebrities who are overly political, according to Forbes.
