Ultra Magnus Joins Hasbro’s ‘Transformers: The Movie’ Toyline

It looks like the Transformers: The Movie line of action figures may be winding down. Several big-name characters have been released in the ’86 packaging or the Legacy line. However, one major Autobot has been noticeably missing. Finally, Ultra Magnus rolls into battle … only to fly to pieces.

Seriously. One of the selling features of Ultra Magnus is that you can break him apart just like when Galvatron messed him up on Junkion.

The $89.99 Autobot can be pre-ordered right now at Hasbro Pulse and is expected to arrive on November 1st. Thankfully, Hasbro didn’t recycle the War for Cybertron Ultra Magnus.

This one may be a totally new build. We’ll definitely review this one when it comes out.

However, the soldier-turned-leader isn’t the only Transformers ’86 figure coming out this Fall.

  • TRANSFORMERS STUDIO SERIES COMMANDER CLASS: This 9.5-inch collectible action figure is inspired by iconic movie scenes and designed with specs and details to reflect the Transformers movie universe
  • 2 ICONIC MODES: This Studio Series Transformers toy for 8 year old boys and girls features classic conversion between robot and semi trailer modes in 43 steps. Trailer can hold Deluxe Class figures (each sold separately, subject to availability)
  • AWESOME ACCESSORIES: Transformers figure comes with 4 blasters, 7 blast effects and a Matrix of Leadership accessory that can fit inside the figure’s chest. Accessories attach in both modes

Joining Ultra Magnus is the tiny Decepticon Frenzy. He’s just a recolor of the Rumble. The 3.5″ tall Transformer is $11.99. So … where’s Soundwave already?!

Another Autobot included in this wave is Ratchet. Yup, he’s a recolor of Ironhide, but with a different head. The pricing is getting a bit out of hand regarding these smaller figures. Ratchet is priced at $34.99 and is due out this November.

Lastly, Prowl and Ironhide were packaged together but not under the TF: TM line. Instead, the ill-fated Autobots came out in a two-pack with the Buzzworthy Bumblebee packaging. Weird.

Both Transformers feature battle damage, but Hasbro failed to include a smoldering head for Prowl. However, you get blaster effects parts to recreate Ironhide’s death at the hands of Starscream and Megatron.

The set is $54.99 and is available now via Hasbro and Target.

I highly doubt Hasbro will make a G1 Megatron figure or Astro Train. We will probably see Soundwave and Devastator in the future, but I can’t see several more waves focusing on the only good Transformers film.
