Toynami Announces Comic-Con@Home Exclusive Robotech Figures!

Robotech is another one of those franchises that have a messy history regarding its integration into the American media landscape of the 1980s. All I can remember is a Battloid somehow made it into the transformer line. Then some robots appeared in the Mechassault/Battletech tabletop game.
Oh, ’80’s toy license deals were messier than a perm coated in Aquanet.
Those days are, thankfully, long behind us. Now Harmony Gold has things under control, and Robotech is represented the way it should be. Speaking of which, Toynami has some new releases and an exclusive set coming out for Comic-Con@Home this year.

In the episode “Battle Cry,” Rick Hunter’s life is put on the line by Lt. Commander Lisa Hayes after she delays a counterattack against a Zentraedi ship. Though Rick narrowly escapes death, will Lisa be able to forgive herself? Will Rick be able to fly with the Skull Squadron as the same ace pilot he was before?
Our 1/100 scale Veritech captures minute details and lines of Ricks’ renowned VF-1J with exacting precision.

Rick and the VF-1J will feature:

  • Transformable to three modes: Battloid, Guardian, and Fighter
  • Highly poseable with over 30 points of articulation
  • Includes adjustable display stand for maximum versatility
  • Gun pod and missile attachment accessories included
  • Deluxe multi-step battle weathering effect

The two-pack is limited to 1,000 pieces and will ship in August.
Also arriving next month is the second series of Robotech action figures. This series will include:

  • Captain Global
  • Lisa Hayes w/ Dress Uniform
  • Rick Hunter w/ Dress Uniform
  • Claudia Grant w/ Dress Uniform
  • Ben Dixon w/ Space Suit

It’s nice to see Claudia Grant and Ben Dixon getting some love. The bodies appear really slim, though. So what do you all think?
Pre-orders are limited to two-per-customer. Rick and the VF-1J will be launching in August. Click here to make sure you get yours.
Likewise, the second series of Robotech action figures will also debut in August. Unfortunately, right now, you can only pre-order all five characters at once for $69.99. Click here if you’re looking to get the entire set all at once.
