Sam Raimi Praises ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’

‘The Evil Dead’ director Sam Raimi is well-known among comic book fans and movie audiences as the man who brought Peter Parker to life with the ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy starring Tobey Maguire. Raimi is currently working on ‘Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness’ and during an interview with Vanity Fair, he shared his thoughts on the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe film ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ which saw Maguire join current Spidey Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield.
“It was so much fun,” he told them. “I love No Way Home and the audience I was with went crazy. It was delightful to watch Alfred play his role, and Willem Dafoe, just seeing these guys take it to the next level. And Tobey was awesome as always. The best word I can say is it was refreshing for me.”
This was the second time Raimi had praised the latest Spidey film, celebrating the return of Alfred Molina as the villainous Doctor Octopus.
“That was beautiful,” Raimi told SyFy. “He looks great, the animation’s great. I’m assuming it’s not puppeted because when we did Doc Ock, we had puppets and animation for his octopus tentacles. But it was smooth and powerful and I loved his costume they kept [from the original]. I think it’s gonna be a great movie.”
‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ has been well-received by critics and audiences alike with the film skyrocketing to the top of the box office, blowing out rivals like ‘The Matrix Resurrections.’ The movie has even breached the top ten best box office performances.
Pirates and Princesses reports, “SONY’s Spider-Man: No Way Home continues to defy the COVID-19 Lockdowns/Restrictions as the film breaks records and becomes the sixth highest-grossing film of all time. It has passed the 2019 remake of The Lion King and the 2015 reboot of the Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic World and knocked 2019’s Frozen II out of the Top Ten. The film has so far accumulated $721+ Million domestically and $970.1 Million internationally, making a total of $1.69 Billion.”
While Tom Holland will remain in the MCU, Sony Pictures will continue their own Spider-Man Universe with ‘Venom’ sequels and ‘Morbius.’
