‘Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time’ Season 2 Heading To Sentai

0

‘Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time’ is a fantasy comedy ecchi manga created by Daisuke Hiyama. It was released by Tokyo-based publishing company Futabasha and serialized in their magazine ‘Monthly Action’ since 2017. The Japanese animation studio Wolfsbane picked up the series for an anime adaption in 2020 for a first season of twelve episodes. The second season is being co-developed by Animation Studio Seven with Sentai announcing that they are releasing it in North America.
“Sentai announced today that it acquired the second season of Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time, the outrageously irreverent comedy anime series based on Daisuke Hiyama’s manga of the same name that delighted anime fans with laugh-out-loud humor and cheeky innuendo. The series will premiere on HIDIVE in 2022,” they said on their website.
“Peter Grill is back and ready for action,” they continued. “Between quelling a goblin incursion, improving trade negotiations with the dwarves and placating a watchful sister who might just go berserk to keep him in line, Peter has his work cut out for him. He’s the most sought-after hero in the land…and that’s before counting the myriad woman interested in his “other” talents. It will take every last scrap of Peter’s willpower to keep his focus on heroing…”
The show is directed by Tatsumi, written by Nora Mōri, and Rui Ishige is handling the character designs.
You can watch the trailer below:

Wikipedia describes the synopsis as follows,
“Peter Grill, warrior of the Brave Swordsmen’s Guild, has emerged victorious at an international fighting tournament and is crowned the strongest man in the world. Peter uses this victory to gain permission from Guildmaster Sanctus to marry his beloved daughter and fellow Guildmember, Luvelia. However, women from other races have heard of Peter’s exploits and seek the “seed” of the strongest warrior to continue their respective bloodlines. Meanwhile, the Guildmaster’s obsession with his own daughter drives him to find a way to end Luvelia’s relationship, as Peter tries to hide his new lovers from them both.”
Seven Seas Entertainment holds the license to release the manga in the United States.

‘Seed Of Chucky’s Talking Tiffany Figure Is Here Thanks To Mezco

Seed of Chucky premiered in theatres in 2004, and it managed to tackle a lot of self-identity issues that have become so common today. Of course, it’s hard to take the gender identity struggles of a killer doll seriously, but it was a surprisingly deep premise for a series of films that has focused mainly on violence and voodoo.
Tiffany is the true star of the movie, who has been giving Chucky a run for his money since she appeared in 1998’s Bride of Chucky. Voice by Jennifer Tilly, and possibly even more sadistic than Charles Lee Ray, she stole the show in the last film. It shows when it comes to the collectibles market as she’s back with a new Mega Scale figure from Mezco.
Tiffany had previously shown up in the Mega Scale line but dressed up in her outfit from The Bride of Chucky. I must admit that this killer doll version looks way better. The face sculpt far superior to the previous version, and the eyes look amazing.
Tiffany will be out sometime between September and November this year. She can be pre-ordered now for $98. Tiffany will have 11 points of articulation and will stand 15″ tall.  She’ll also speak eight phrases from the film, but Mezco is only letting us know two of them:

  • “Hold still, honey, or I am going to poke you in the eye again.”
  • “Sweet face, come to mommy.”

In ‘Seed of Chucky’, Chucky and Tiffany embark on a new killing spree after being resurrected by their offspring, Glen. Beautiful yet deadly, Tiffany is outfitted in an all-white gown and choker necklace. She comes complete with a knife accessory that fits nearly in her right hand.

Arcade1Up’s Legacy Machines Now Include Capcom And Ms Pac-Man

Two more Legacy arcade cabinets are on the way from Arcade1Up, one from Namco and the other from Capcom.
The Capcom Legacy Yoga Flame Edition cabinet ships with 14 built-in games. The cab features Street Fighter artwork on the side panels but keeps the SFII: Turbo Championship Edition marquee, monitor frame, and joystick board. Unfortunately, the concrete gray colors clash harshly with the Yoga Flam artwork surrounding it. I hope this is revised before the final product is released. Unlike other recent Arcade1Up machines, this one is a bit more affordable, priced at $499.99.
The Yoga Flame cabinet is WiFi enabled for online play and includes the following Capcom titles:

  • King of Dragons
  • Strider
  • Progear
  • Battle Circuit
  • Street Fighter II: CE
  • Street Fighter II: HF
  • Super SF2 Turbo
  • Super Puzzle Fighter
  • Saturday Night Slam Masters
  • Capcom Sports Club
  • Final Fight
  • Giga Wing
  • Captain Commando
  • Armored Warriors

The Ms. Pac-Man Bandai Namco Legacy arcade machine is also $499.99 and pre-loaded with 14 titles. The cabinet is also WiFi-enabled, but only for leaderboards. The marquee lights up, and the artwork probably looks impressive under a blacklight.
Here are the titles you’ll get with this Ms. Pac-Man cab:

  • Ms. Pac-Man
  • Galaga
  • Galaxian
  • Dig Dug
  • Dig Dug II
  • Mappy
  • Dragon Buster
  • Rompers
  • King & Balloon
  • Pac-Mania
  • Pac-Land
  • Pac-Man Plus
  • Super Pac-Man
  • Pac & Pals

Aside from the great artwork, Namco cabinets never really “wow” me when it comes to the games. I’ve owned a few Arcade1Up Pac-Man cabinets, and I’m a little burnt out on the same collection of games. Thankfully, even the most inexperienced people can easily modify these cabinets to use a RetroPi setup and turn it into a true retro gaming powerhouse.
I think it may be time for Arcade1Up to branch out beyond Namco games and Capcom’s fighters. Sure, the company has dabbled with Midway and Konami, to name a few, but when will we start to get into some of the more unique things? Perhaps the research and development to tackle the rarer arcade machines are too much? What do you think? Let us know below.

Rob Zombie’s Munsters Arrive As “Little Big Head” Figures

Rob Zombie’s take on The Munsters may be a ways off, but the collectibles are already on their way. NECA has created a “Little Big Head” three-pack of the main Munsters: Grandpa, Herman, and Lily. The figures stand about 5″ to 6″ (because Herman is so tall). The LBHs don’t look to have much, if any, articulation, but Lilly does have brushable hair! Expect this pack of Munsters to arrive during October this year.
Is it me, or should Lily be a pale white? At least Herman is green, and Grandpa is blue. So two out of three isn’t bad.

Have fun with these little Munster Monsters! From Rob Zombie’s The Munsters, this “little big head” tribute set includes Herman, Lily, and The Count, each measuring between 5 and 6 inches tall. Comes in window box packaging that is an homage to the classic 1960s toy appearances.

I’d almost say that Rob Zombie is trying to create a family-friendly Munsters movie, but he may subvert my expectations. Does anyone remember the Mockingbird Lane pilot that failed to get a new series started? I don’t think fans wanted a gritty reboot of the classic horror movie-themed family.
The Munsters originally aired from 1964 to 1966 on CBS. It starred Fred Gwynne, Yvonne De Carlo, and Al Lewis as the elder Munsters, with Pat Priest and Butch Patrick as the younger members of the frightful family. Fans of the show can usually find Butch tooling around the US with a replica of the Barris Munster Koach. We ran into him a couple of years ago at a car show:

Where, exactly, will Rob Zombie’s version take The Munsters? It’s clear that the musician/filmmaker understands the importance of the original series, but his Halloween movies went off on weird tangents, leaving many of us perplexed. Will he do the same thing with the residents of 1313 Mockingbird Lane?
